    The exercise starts at 7:30. That's if you keep coming back to do the exercise. Other than that, it is a really interesting video to watch, if you haven't seen it before.

    One trick I do is think "inhalation" while singing and especially when belting, it tricks my body into not using as much air by thinking I'm inhaling while actually exhaling.

    Your middle notes episode seriously turned me on to something I didn't know was important and I've been training for at least two solid years. Really cool.       dont forget to be realistic - you must do some work whichever system you decide on for learning to sing I've been studying how to play singing and found a great resource at Bens singer blog (google it if you are interested). #david bouy

    i really thought i sucked at singing, and believed my voice was only good for rap but this video showed me i have a strong voice, i got thorough the exercise quite easily. Thank you very much sir ! &youv probably heard this before but you look a lot like leonardo dicaprio hahaha

      Elena Just in case you haven't had anyone tell you this yet, that might happen if your facial muscles are tensed up when you sing. I know mine are, and I have the same problem.

    I can't do "mem" fast enough... I can hold my breath for the 5 scales though, so i've got that going for me

    FYI: Jerome Kern song long phrases [they ARE] last 10 and 7 seconds [singing words is more difficult than just "hiss"] MEM X5 = 12 seconds, and MEM X7 = 15 seconds

    Just a small tip that helped me, think of saying me (mem without the final "m") and repeat like the exercise. it helped a bit relax facial tension (:

    sometimes i could do all 5 of the "mem" but sometimes i cant :/ i feel theres something wrong with my breath support

    its nice. air long air and shifting sound of , but still muscle memory of vocal warm ups of before sing it, but some trouble of place ment of the sound if its fit ,to Wide Mouth , Breathy, Low Larinx, to Headtone. some point of condition

    So I found that as I finished each scale, if I thought about standing an inch or so straighter each time, I didnt collapse my chest and I could make it. Dont know if it's right but it worked for me;)

    Dear Justin, your voice coaching is great and has become a part of my daily practice ever since the moment I discovered it!!! But I have a question about your exercise here in this episode. After 4 times of "MEM"-ing my lips just can't seem to move properly anymore, and I have the idea that it's not because of a lack of breath but because my jaw doesn't move quickly enough...     Is it better to take a breath through your nostrils or from your mouth? Does it make a difference?
