The exercise starts at 7:30. That's if you keep coming back to do the exercise. Other than that, it is a really interesting video to watch, if you haven't seen it before.
Lauren James Love this comment. Exactly how I feel, WATCH the video, it’s always amazing, but if you are coming to do the exercise quick, boom. Thanks for you.

One trick I do is think "inhalation" while singing and especially when belting, it tricks my body into not using as much air by thinking I'm inhaling while actually exhaling.

dont forget to be realistic - you must do some work whichever system you decide on for learning to sing I've been studying how to play singing and found a great resource at Bens singer blog (google it if you are interested). #david bouy

Elena Just in case you haven't had anyone tell you this yet, that might happen if your facial muscles are tensed up when you sing. I know mine are, and I have the same problem.
FYI: Jerome Kern song long phrases [they ARE] last 10 and 7 seconds [singing words is more difficult than just "hiss"] MEM X5 = 12 seconds, and MEM X7 = 15 seconds
Hey Justin, just thought I'd say, your lessons are absolutely superb! Please don't stop making videos anytime soon! :) Also, I'd love it if you could maybe do a video on wide/narrow production, since you mentioned it here. And more vowel videos would also be awesome too! :D

Hei Justin, my name is John, may I ask you a question here? Could you do a video on cardio and singing relation? And tips for singing seamlessly while jumping up and down while performing?
It’s helping me ,, I use to watch everyday and do follow ur lessons .. it really works ,, there’s lots of coaching in RUclips but I found ur vocal lessons helpful , thank u so much and keep going 😇😇😇
its nice. air long air and shifting sound of , but still muscle memory of vocal warm ups of before sing it, but some trouble of place ment of the sound if its fit ,to Wide Mouth , Breathy, Low Larinx, to Headtone. some point of condition
The color of your T-shirts always blends with your background color..great branding man. I would like to have those T-shirts. Just an observation and thanks for the teaching.
So I found that as I finished each scale, if I thought about standing an inch or so straighter each time, I didnt collapse my chest and I could make it. Dont know if it's right but it worked for me;)
Dear Justin, your voice coaching is great and has become a part of my daily practice ever since the moment I discovered it!!! But I have a question about your exercise here in this episode. After 4 times of "MEM"-ing my lips just can't seem to move properly anymore, and I have the idea that it's not because of a lack of breath but because my jaw doesn't move quickly enough... Could that be the case? Thanks so much for your awesome show and I would like to hear from you! Greetings, ~Lieneke from The Netherlands.
Hi Lien! We are super glad to hear how you are an avid practicer and that the show is so helpful to you! Keep up the great work! Send your questions to Questions@VoiceLessonsToTheWorld.com! -NYVC

Just a small tip that helped me, think of saying me (mem without the final "m") and repeat like the exercise. it helped a bit relax facial tension (:
Great thoughts Andres! Thanks for sharing! -NYVC
Interesting video and explanations, thanks. :)
the exercise gave me more trouble with the muscles of my lips than breath issues.
Thanks! This is just so fun
James can you teach me how to sing with harmony?i have seen ur previous vdo about that but it didnt help much.
