    Justin, just a note to say that ME exercise was fantastic! I tried following so many other videos but your ME exercise was the only one that helped me understand just how vibrato works! I think it's the notes leading into and out of the me me me that did it for me. Many thanks!

    I have seen so many videos on here on vibrato and this is the best one I've seen. Not only it is well explained, but the practice song is just what I needed. Thanks for sharing!

    I think one of the most important things you mention in all your videos that many people tend to look over is not to lose the joy and passion of singing. I get caught up with these exercises when I can't get them right and it's a good reminder of why I bother with singing in the first place.

  • @thecosplaycrafter8017

    As a singer who kind of developed vibrato on my own, I'm finding myself using it (completely unintentionally) on the end of each phrase in the "me" exercise. Darn my musical upbringing playing with exercises to try to improve my singing!

    I love vibrato, but some people take it too far where the fundamental pitch disappears to me and it sounds like they're just singing off key. I love medium vibrato where it's noticable and adds a beautiful flow to the note, just not TOO much. Just my opinion though lol

    A quick, shakira-esque vibrato seemed to happen naturally when I figured out how to release the tensions and open my throat. I was surprised and excited to find out. Your videos made it happen. I could already do vibrato but this one was different, it wasn't something I consciously did

    I just have to say that I loved this video.
    I've always been the type of person who thought vibrato was a technique that I didn't need to waste my time nibbling on.
    That's because I have always been able to do it, and here's the reason, It was all because of the song "All I ask of you" because it was so needed in the song to produce the feeling one needed to sing that song, I just HAD to do it or it wouldn't work.
    In short I loved this because I got an epiphany to why I had to learn it at all!

I`m struggling with vibrato since quite a long time and I think I even unlearned it during my professional education 'cause1) i want it too badly 2) I focus too much on doing everything else "right" & stay soft that I get quite tense & stuck in my head... can't wait till I'll finally loose this nud in my head...

    Honestly, I sing a whole lot especially since I do it as a major option in my school (I do it for GCSE, I'm from the UK) and I'm getting bored of my voice. I'm singing less often because I don't sound good to myself at all and no matter what songs I sing they never sound good enough to reignite the spark that burnt out whenever I sung. I haven't talked about it much to anybody but I've followed a bunch of ur lessons and I'm still practicing but i don't know.. I love singing and I wanna enjoy doing it again. Maybe it depends on the style and I need to be more adventurous into the styles of singing? I need some vocal advice 😅 thank you

    great video ! on a side technical note, a hertz is already a unit for "per second" quantities. So, saying "hertz per second" is incorrect, but i'm really nitpicking and it's definitely not the point of this (again most excellent) lesson !

    Wow! This lesson is super! I don't sing or have musical education, but I'm an opera lover and I have had found it difficult - so far! - to understand what is the difference between "vibrato" and "tremolo". Thanks!

    • @Ihdc1
      @Ihdc1 8 лет назад

      +Songelosodelzefiro Vibrato is what he just described. Tremolo is when the voice quavers but the pitch doesn't bend.

    • @songelosodelzefiro2102
      @songelosodelzefiro2102 8 лет назад

      ***** Thank you for this additional explanation! Because English is not my native language which causes extra difficulty and uncertainty regarding understanding I would transpose it like this: "the pitch doesn't bend" means that the voice quavers (I tend to describe it as "trembles") while a single, specific NOTE is being sung? I understand that vibrato is something absolutely under control of a singer, it is intentional while tremolo is something which is independent from the will of a singer, it is something that they are unable to control. Am I right? It seems to me that two examples of such immense tremolo is the singing of Lawrence Brownlee (to me sometimes nearly unbearable) and Maxim Mironov (less known, but quite often available on YT with awful tremolo in "Languir per una bella"), but can be heard also in performances of other, even very famous singers. In his youth also Juan Diego Florez sometimes had this quality in his singing (not in every performance) but it wasn't so annoying to me. Others point it out quite often. As time has been going by this feature seems to be disappearing in his singing of which I'm a great fan. Thanks once again and regards!

    I had a natural vibrato sense as long as I can remeber. For me is one of the easiest thing my voice can do. Alway thought it was like that for everyone, but u mean is rare? Thats explains why everyone always makes faces or in some way always noticied my vibrato. I seriously always interpret as people makes fun of me,, and maybe i overdue my vibrato so it sounds wierd. For many years, this was my thuth.. Dont vibrato so damn mutch.. Omg I think this is so silly now. Thanks for setting me straight. 👍 Sorry bad english
