Ren has changed my battle with mental illness in a way that it is no longer a battle... I am older, and i have learned to see it as the dance. I dance with the highs and very dark lows, but the diffrence now is that i accept it. I no longer curse myself with self hatred. I love myself for the very first time in 40 yrs. I love me and have learned to handle the conversations with the people in my mind that only i can hear.❤

I'm not a native English speaker,so I have some problems understanding him rapping. But, I enjoy his art very much even if I have to listen to him several times (I'm old too, you know) to catch him. What a great artist he is and his story is mine too, at least for the medical/health part (bitten by a tick and experiencing the shit the hc industry provides). I had tears in my eyes and got some hope too to overcome certain struggles I still have to endure. I hope he will get better and make music for us all who admire him. I do!

Ren's story is kind of heartbreaking. He is suffering with Lyme disease after being misdiagnosed and given useless treatments and drugs for years. He is now in Canada getting daily treatments and it's a shame because his music is blowing up right now and he's not able to perform. He will be stuck in Canada for another 5 months or so. Hopefully this treatment will work for him and relieve the symptoms he lives with daily. The pig masked person shows up in a few videos. He has PTSD from the treatment he has received from a lot of the medical community. Most didn't believe what he was telling them, told him his was mentally ill, prescribed useless medications that just caused more problems. He is such a talented storyteller. I know his lyrics resonate with a lot of people. My daughter suffers from depression and anxiety and she is the one that introduced me to Ren. I've gone down the rabbit hole and I'm amazed at his versatility and talent.

Listening to Ren for the first time is like listening to music/art/theater, all combined, for the first time. Ren is a modern day "Bard". His story telling capabilities are incredible. The productions of his videos ... camera work, settings, sound quality are beyond next level. If you want to experience Ren's story telling capabilities and out of this world gritty, organic, sound and scenery I suggest the trilogy that is "The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)". If you would like to experience Ren's singing voice and be introduced to one of the most underrated female singers (Chinchilla) on YT I would suggest "Ren X Chinchilla - Chalk Outlines (live)" the most raw and dynamic duet I have heard ... probably ever. Welcome to the rabbit-hole that is Ren... enjoy your journey.

The thing is, though, they are legends because they were phenomenal at the 1 thing they did at that level. I have never seen someone that exhibits this much raw talent in every aspect of every style that he does. Basicly alone. No label, no management, no production crew (outside of his handful of friends he works with) no financing, ect. It is just wild and definitely not something the other "greatest artist" fan bases can say.

Ren began his music career busking in the UK. He was actually discovered and signed with Sony, but before he could release any music, he fell ill. He was initially misdiagnosed with schizophrenia and psychosis and treated accordingly. Sony dropped him at that point. The medicication actually began making him worse, and after being referred to a specialist, he was properly diagnosed with Lymes disease and has received several treatments. He is actually in Canada receiving treatments now. Check out Ren "Sick Boi" it dives pretty deep into what he has suffered. Like this one, it is amazing. This really is brilliant. As someone who has struggled with these voices, it really not only highlights the struggle, but hints at the way out. It's not about banishing or fighting our darkness, because it only makes it stronger. It's about accepting it, without falling into it. For there is value in the darkness, but it must be balanced or the pendulum will swing too far. Likewise, when we focus solely on the light, it can swing too far the other way - "the greater the light shone the stronger the shadow it casts". I loved the line that learning to relax, and softening, makes the dance easier.
And it brilliant how in the end his song had hints of the darkness in it, with the dissonance is some of the chords and the flashing light, but fully embracing the light/hopeful side as well. Genius, indeed.

Here is some information on Ren's story, in case you didn't already know. I gathered it from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. Ren Eryn Gill is a British musician/independent artist; born in Wales on March 29, 1990, or ‘91 (depending on which source you cite), he grew up in Brighton. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently dropped by Sony.
Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure.
Ren is currently in Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023). Ren’s Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder, which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals, as well as his bones/joints.
Ren stated: "It's a lot to wrap my head around having to be away from friends, family, and a successful career, and almost feels like a total juxtaposition to the fact that my music is blowing up right now and spreading to all corners of the world, but that's life, we take the good with the bad."
Ren’s recent wisdom tooth removal went well, but he is currently battling an infection following cavitation surgery, and he is not feeling well.
Let's keep supporting Ren as he undergoes his treatments. Check out and subscribe to his channel, listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to this generation, and his work is needed in these troubling times. Here is the link to Ren’s GoFundMe page to raise money for his current treatment. www.gofundme.com/f/ren-get-better-from-lyme-disease-and-autoimmunity

Someone special to me over the last year of my life, who I had to let go due to circumstances, introduced me to Ren. Still on my journey. For me, it took awhile to absorb his art, as some can be quite dark. But it changes your perspective on things, and for me it made my question why this man came into my life. It shook up everything and made me go deeper into myself to really find who I am. And finding Ren, and other independent artists have been a big part of that. This man came into my life for a reason, but not a season. Never underestimate any interactions with others, because all may shift your perception, even if in minute ways we don't even realise.
As Ren says, I am you, you are me, that makes one, split in two.
We are all human beings in this eternal dance between the light and the dark.

Finally, so glad you are here now and your would will be rocked when you delve further into his catalog, he goes back a good number of years, so many styles, his singing voice is amazing. ♥His guitar talent is out of this world for such a young man. We must all wish him well and get him seen and heard all over the world. I do believe he is going to be the one that wakes the world up to mental illness and the failure of standard medical care. Keep doing Ren reactions, you will not be disappointed.

In I think 2009 (maybe 2010) he was signed by Sony but he had to break his contract because he started having symptoms of illness that couldn't be dx. Apparently he went through years before the correct dx was made which was Lyme Disease. He spent 23 hours of every day in bed as a result. Then, a stem cell doctor saw his vlog on YT and offered to provide treatment for free if he could get to LA. After a little while, he started to feel better after his various procedures. Then, he released this in December along with some other music. Unfortunately, his treatment has revealed that he has another Autoimune illness and he's currently being treated for it in Canada. He won't be done with treatment until the end of Summer.
He has played in some other bands. Check out his earlier work Busking with Sam Thomsan and he was in The Big Push. All of those acts are also genius - but in a different way. He breaks through genres with ease, he can play multiple instruments, etc. I can't learn enough about him. Hope this helps. He does have a go fund me page that explains some of the current stuff, too.

I just saw this video in my feed, and clicked on it immediately. I became a massive fan immediately after the first time I saw this video about a month ago, and I'm so incredibly glad that you decided to react to this video too. I had a feeling that it would blow your mind, and you had pretty much the same reaction to it that I did. Your reaction at the end was spot on too, and I could see and feel how genuinely moved you were by the entire experience. The ending was powerful and very personal, and hit really hard for me. Ren is not only an artistic and musical genius, but he is such a brilliant story teller too. He has this uncanny ability to reach your heart and soul, and deliver a performance and message so powerful and moving, that it leaves you nearly speechless. A lot of his performances are Live (you can see the mic attached to the collar of his shirt), which makes them even more impressive. You should definitely react to his trilogy "The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)." "Sick Boi," "Genesis," "The Hunger," "Power," and "Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve Retake)" all put his incredible rapping skills on full display. If you want two great examples of his singing ability, check out "Chalk Outlines (feat Chinchilla) (Live)" and "How to Be Me (feat Chinchilla) (Live)." You really can't go wrong with any of his songs, and with every performance being different and memorable in its own way, the rabbit hole of Ren's catalog is pretty remarkable.

Ren has disrupted my whole RUclips habit. instead of tracking Pentatonix and Paolo Nutini and young people discovering Queen and other 70s bands for the first time, I've been watching almost nothing but Ren and Ren reactions for a month now.
He is a singer, rapper, storyteller, guitarist (all types) pianist and in an interview he said he even played the cello a bit, but I haven't seen a video with that yet! He has stated he has ADHD.
he was signed by Sony at 19, then started getting weird symptoms, pain, exhaustion and they dropped him. they couldn't find a physical cause and decided it was mental. so spent the next 8 years exhausted and in pain and being told it was all in his head, and taking drugs to fix what wasn't broken, or rather, what was breaking worse and worse. Lyme disease symptoms are vague and the blood tests unreliable at first, but if undiagnosed and untreated, it damages many parts of your body, including your brain. so as time went on the treatments for the misdiagnosis and the pain and exhaustion and inappropriate drugs plus the psychosis from the untreated Lyme disease *were* doing his head in. the pig mask guy has to do with his medical PTSD from all of this.
but about 6 years ago he got the right diagnosis, got stem cell treatment in the US and began healing and restarted his career, which had been limping along from home when he could manage. he looks a bit younger than he is, in pictures of him from before the illness he seems to be rather babyfaced. that and staying indoors for most of a decade has kept him young looking I guess. He's 31 or 32 now.
Currently he is in Canada seeking follow up treatment, fixing more things that being sick for so long broke. He'll be there about 6 months, has a stockpile of records and videos to edit and release month by month. He also has a go-fund me to help pay for it all, nice to mention to your fans at least once. look around his YT page and you'll find links.
he is independent and does not make copyright claims, he wants everything shared so more people come watch for themselves. if you get a claim, tell him and he will clear it.
    What to listen to next?
the tale of Jenny and Screech (FULL) is 3 videos in one which tell a story. so its another long one. listen carefully, there's clues in each that will make since in the following. Have tissues on hand, it a beautiful but harsh thing to listen
Sick Boi, another one about his medical history
Chalk Outlines (live) Ren x Chinchilla = take your meds. (yes, her fingernails are very very long)
    money 1 & 2 = capitalism is bad.
    Love Music 1, 2, & 3 = music is good!
Verve Bittersweet Symphony retake = He loves his town, Brighton
The Hunger = he raps. also Genesis and What you want.
older stuff: look for vids of him busking with Sam Tompkins. Ren & Sam Tompkins - Earned it /Mans World / Falling , it Warning, Sam Tompkins plus Mitch Grassi in the same day might overload you on beautiful high tenors, proceed with caution.
He also busks as part of The Big Push. I Shot the Sheriff seems to be the crowd favourite. more than a few reactors noticed this a few years back but again, it didn't quite get them a contract.
If you dig deep enough you'll find an earlier band, Trick the Fox

“Sick Boi” is in a similar 15:44 aspects, check out “The Tale of Jenny & Screech” (Full) which is a fantastic trilogy. “The Hunger” is more old school hip hop rap. “What You Want” reminds me of the Beastie Boys and “Power” is like pop radio play rap. But to truly appreciate the greatness of @renmakesmusic, then you need to see his total diverse abilities and check out him doing “Bittersweet Symphony”, Can’t Help Falling In Love”, “Chalk Outlines”, “Money Game”, “Money Game, Part 2” and then some of his work with The Big Push and Sam Thompkins like “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World”, “I Shot The Sheriff” and “War Pigs”.
