In 2022, Toto said Lewis can go on for another 5-10 years. Even mentioning how Alonso was 41, yet still competitive. Now he’s saying Lewis cannot be trusted with a contract greater than 1+1 due to potential cognitive declines? It’s disrespectful and disingenuous!

You clearly haven‘t watched Hamilton‘s performances in the last 3 years then , even in 2021 to some extent (got schooled by Max for most of the year while sitting in that W12 spaceshuttle). He clearly is giga washed and nowhere near top 3 drivers on the grid anymore. They didn‘t give him a longer contract and put in that exit clause because his performance on track neither is worth a long contract nor his absurd salary

George has the same contract. It is rare for Merc to hand out long term contracts.

@ I don’t agree with your opinion. Hamilton was 3rd, pushing checco for 2nd, in the drivers championship last year in a car that wasn’t 2nd best. He’s in his last year of his contract going to a rival. Mercs have clearly downgraded his chances in this car, yet he’s 2 points behind 26-year old Russell?

@@TheTenners and this is the problem if you're even putting russell in the same points space as lewis on any seasons then lewis is past it, george has had a shit year, the crash with alonso the dnf, the crash has dropped over 60to 70 points, you have to think would prime lewis even lose to russell? in race no, in qualifying no, i think you've seen two stages of deterioration from lewis, the qualifying which tends to be reflex based and now we have seen a decline in his race pace, even in silverstone which was a great lewis performance, max was one lap from beating him in a slower car on that weekend. the best lewis is probably 85% of his old self but even at ferrari i still think hes gonna have the same quali issues and race issues

    • @TheTenners
      @TheTenners 2 месяца назад +4

@@GhostonRUclips201x so Russell is given the benefit of the doubt with DNFs but Lewis isn’t when Mercedes downgrade his car with poor tyre temps, set up and car when he’s in the last year of his contract? Btw some of Russell’s DNFs are his fault, like Silverstone and Spa when he went off track and damaged his car and didn’t make a two stopper to preserve tyre weight. Hamilton’s reaction time off the grid is still the quickest in average out of the 20 drivers! If Max has another lap? If my aunty had baIIs, she’d be my uncle!

I 1000% agree with Cameron. Forget these other guys… One major thing Ferrari gave Michael to add to his story was the Ferrari FXX and Michael got a black version dedicated to his career. Everyone knows that. Potentially the whole FXX Ferrari series is off the back of Schumacher’s history at Ferrari. Merc barely even mentioned Lewis when they released the Project One car. They say, it has a F1 engine. To current day, Merc absolutely is not respecting Lewis. McLaren not only let Lewis drive Senna’s car, but the race before McLaren’s race livery was from Lewis’ first championship winning year. McLaren is showing more respect to Lewis than Mercedes.

I agree with Cam, I think it’s very clear Merc forced his hand with the contracts and now Toto gets to be rude about it and say he’s getting senile. The Mercedes board didn’t want to pay him anymore or give him the ambassador role and Toto has been weird since AD21 and failing to back Lewis and get him that 8th. I think lately he’s only driven by his $$ share, never sentiment. Just see his odd comments at Vegas last year. As was suggested, I’m washing my hands of this team next year, they’ve disrespected Sir LCDH too much. Scorched Earth.

    2 things about this topic
    1. The sabotage fiasco from LH fans didn't help or motivate the Team to go out and celebrate. It dampened spirits to be fair. Especially that some of the negative comments were initiated by LH during press conferences. So you read from that as an outsider that not all is well within the Team. I must say, I am still amazed that the Team didn't come out and obliterate him publicly on those comments. He accused the Team of dishonesty, reputational damaged. They were diplomatic and even defended Lewis in public.
    2. George Russell fans were in uproar this season for Mercedes not celebrating or recognizing his efforts and great races in favour of Lewis. I mean even pundits mentioned how much Toto lacked praises for George. When Lewis made mistakes they protected him vs public flogging of George if he did the same. That led to George being so disrespected by the f1 fans. He was open season to insult George.

Toto’s behaving like a bitchy divorcee. It’s embarrassing quite frankly. And so unnecessary. Ultimately both parties are in the position they want to be in. He has Russell in the pocket and Antonelli in prospect. Lewis has the dream end to his career by going to drive at Ferrari. Just pat the bloke on the back and wish him good luck. Sad.

I understand what Cameron is saying. Toto could talk more about the struggles with the car in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Instead of talking about The decline of SLH. All of the teams were struggling with the new regulations and changes. Mercedes struggled more than any of the other top teams.
Instead, Toto has been trying to paint the narrative that Lewis did something wrong by signing with Ferrari. The poor car performance for 3 years had something to do with Lewis’ decision.
All good things must come to an end and Mercedes has to think about the future. I understand George represents the future but Lewis’s car setup and performance is surprisingly different than George’s. Team strategies went against what Lewis wanted such as Soft tires when all other drivers were on Mediums along with questionable tire temperatures. Even after all that, George recently just passed Lewis by two points.
Prior to Lewis coming to the Mercedes team, they were mid-level and will return there after Lewis leaves. A seven time champ does deserve respect on his name. During that time, Mercedes won 8 constructors titles. Their sponsorships and merchandise sales are fueled by him being the GOAT.
SLH’s win at Silverstone 2024 was his first win in two years. There was a celebration by the fans and the team. Toto was no where to be found during that time. He was also missing the Mercedes team photo to honor the win for the team and Lewis.
Lewis Hamilton is the GOAT and is the only black driver in a traditionally non-black sport. The intensity of celebration and recognition would different if he were non-black driver.
Lewis is the biggest star in F1. He is the best driver the Mercedes team has ever had and deserves maximum respect and credit for their success. I think that is the point Cameron is trying to make.
There has been nobody better than Lewis and Ferrari seems to know that.

Mercedes doesn't owe Hamilton an 8th championship. They gave him a championship winning car 8 seasons in a row. Without Mercedes Hamilton is a 1 time champion and would exit F1 with just a fraction of the legacy he has now. 10% driver 90% car is not a fact. It is not even anything beyond rhetoric. If I jump in the McLaren guaranteed I would be dead last every race. But if we swap Norris for Russell it is probably not going to make a whole lot of difference.
McLaren versus Red Bull this season is more comparable with Mercedes versus Red Bull in 2021 in terms of car performances. The McLaren also has a similar advantage Mercedes had in 2017 and 2018, but Norris is facing a stronger opponent than Hamilton did. The engineers tried to pull the im alot smarter than u card and u dont know wat ur talking about wen he was talking abt issues with the rear end. lewis drives the car and its his job to relay feedback of certain characteristics how the vehicle behaves. It seems that was the beginning of relationship going sour..

I agree they are not doing enough and have kind of just thrown in the towel so to speak. I think they have been disrespectful of Lewis all year. I actually think that he only had a good car for silverstone because Toto said we will win a race with Lewis this year. (Only because of the letter) and the other side of the garage uses Lewis data to get George’s car right then they change Lewis car so it’s not on par with George’s for qualifying.
    This was actually confirmed too.

I'm glad he's gone to Ferrari the car they've gave Lewis since 2022 is disgraceful 🤬 Toto shot himself in the foot with a one plus one did it to himself. They don't love Lewis stop lying bro did you not hear Lewis shouting to get a response just to answer a simple question? He asked a question the same question 3 times and got ignored he had to shout 🤬

Back in 2006, Ferrari did the same with Michael Schumacher. Ok, he decided to retire, but Ferrari came out and said the same things. Raikkonen was the future. And Ferrari said that Michael was reaching the end of his career, and was starting to lose his edge. I remember that well. With the coming of Raikkonen and Alonso. I think it's natural. I don't think Toto was being disrespectful. I love Lewis. And hate to hear these things. But I do think that Lewis has probably lost his edge. It's a natural progression I'm afraid.

But he's walking away from the people who made everything happen for him because Ferrari agreed to the money he was demanding. Objectivity wasnt here not gonna lie. Mercedes doesnt owe Lewis anything. He hasnt built that team- Schumacher has. Lewis just came in to reap the benefits. As some other comment mentioned, They could well have just as much made Rosberg a five maybe even six or seven time world champion. He was no Lewis, but he was consistent and good enough to do it. I hate to say it but you are just over-romanticizing Lewis Hamilton in this instance. And Lando fumbling the bag this year is not a proof negative for this statement, Mercedes did not have even a semblence of a competitor to face in their era of dominance. 2018 Ferrari was probably the closest they had to having one. And that barelly counts.

No one at the team has contractual agreements beyond 2025. MB Stuttgart has given Mclaren a engine deal to 2010, they only have 33% share of the team though. Toto has been given performance targets. Toto is smoke and mirrors to make sure his 33% doesn't devalue overnight if MB Stuttgart sell up and go back to being a engine supplier (they own 100% of MB HPP)

No one can speak to the true sentiment/thoughts of Lewis, Toto, Bono, nor anyone else on the Merc F1 team. So, I will leave that to them and keep in mind that it is not about me (or the fans necessarily) in the emotion/how they say goodbye to Lewis. The only thing that matters is what Lewis takes from those final moments with the Silver Arrows. I'm also done throwing rocks at Toto as he has to move forward just like Lewis does. However, I have no doubt that no matter how inarticulate Toto may have been at times, he has been apprehensive about the inevitability of this moment with Lewis for years (made worse by not enabling Lewis to get his 8TH). I don't believe (understand and respect those who disagree) that Merc F1 has been at any point this season working to actively/consciously sabotage Lewis. Not saying it is impossible, but I (personally) would need to see more definitive evidence (versus the team just messing things up and naturally because George is staying so he gets the more stable car options). Lewis has ultimately taken ownership of his own missteps this season as well. I will always be supportive of Merc F1 (especially excited for Kimi next year), but I'm a Lewis fan and as of 2025 Ferrari will be my F1 team to support.

They are there to win, lewis is not going on a notice period job, he wants to win races and is disappointed when he isnt. There is nothing more ingenious than celebrating when you are losing just because you have to. They are champions for 8 years, we just put some respect on Mercedes name as well

Am I mistaken? Wasn''t the 1+1 contract Lewis' idea, with a proviso that if they didn't have the machinery he could leave? Am I wrong? If I'm not, what the hec is Toto on about if not hubris? Love the chat guys. Do you lot get together beforehand, chat and say; Look, I'm gonna be the contrarian, your the challenger and then we'll get this response? Lot of Q's in there😂😂 By the way, the fans will support good work from a team but the driver, being the front of the team gets the praise/flack. We'll support Merc if they're worthy. I support Lewis, good or bad, because he is worthy and not a Dick Dastardly😂I hate - strong word - Horner but appreciate Max the driver, DD or not.🤭 I don't support Red Bull.

Lewis is walking away from the man, the team that has given him everything he has in life. Lewis is going to another team because Mercedes won't pay him the money he thinks is worth. And frankly he's done nothing since the end of 2021 of any value to Mercedes except winge and complain about how awful the car is. Lewis doesn't have to leave the team he's choosing to. And, he's going because of the money. That's it. Without Mercedes Lewis wouldn't have achieved anything, maybe a handful of race wins. Life will go on at Mercedes.
