In the past i disliked some of his behaviors but yesterday i've seen a twinkle in his eyes after the battle with Alonso. He lost that battle but i could see he enjoyed it. No expectation or pressure to finish 1st. Just enjoying the race. I hope he stays in f1 for a long time and has a lot more of that enjoyment. (excuse me. English is not my native language)
I think Alonso demonstrates that drivers of this vintage can compete if they have comparable machinery. If AMR can make progress in one year, there's hope that Mercedes can recover, but it does look like the zero sidepods have got to go. AMR is probably getting nervous that their sponsors will never see a great return on their investment if Daddy's son continues to occupy the second seat.
