Infuriating for those of us who camp a lot. It disrupts the entire campground. I've heard others with new trucks that suffer the same fate. This absolutely needs to be an on/off feature.
I get the frustration, I don’t think that there have been enough complaints about it for Ram to feel the need to change it.
We just tried the partial door closure and it works! Thanks!... might be a little damp on the rainy days and when it's blowing snow but for all other days it's just fine haha
Thanks! Great info! Too bad there's no setting.
Maybe in the future. Customers have to let them know about it though.
I just got my 2022 Wrangler and this feature is really annoying. However, the dealer's service advisor told me they can re-programm it to turn it off, most people have complained about it. Im bringing my jeep in next week so hopefully they can turn this stupid feature off. Stay tuned.
Now im wondering if it will stop honking if i take my doors off.
Let me know how it turns out for you. It’s my understanding that the honking can’t be reprogrammed.
I’d bet that it won’t honk with the doors off. The system searches for the key when the door shuts. No door, no shut. Lol
@@prestonflanikensellscars9640 Ok, conclusion from the service tech, this safety feature cannot be turned off. At first, the service tech thought i have a stock alarm system, which he said the feature can be turned off through it. He also said that Chrysler said there is no plan to remove this safety feature because they have not had enough complaints. There's your answer. Hope this helps.
I appreciate your feedback. The explanation on how/why the system works like it does makes it difficult for me to know how it could be turned off, but I'm not an engineer. lol
Does it work if Just take the key fob with you?
On my Ford I used Forscan to turn it off. On the Ram I used side cutters. Might upgrade to a switch on the dash someday.
Side cutters?
@@prestonflanikensellscars9640 Yes, not fancy ones but straight from the tool bag. Feels weird cutting wires on a 60K brand new truck but cant have the thing honking all day at client sites
So you cut the wires to the horn?
@@prestonflanikensellscars9640 hells yeah!
mine only does that when i leave the vehicle 'with' fob in hand. ?
That’s how it is designed to work.
@@prestonflanikensellscars9640 oh, sorry, i was confused because you said 'when you leave your vehicle running with the key fob inside and shut the door'.
@@philscott9405 I can see how that would be confusing. Inside what...the house or the truck? Thanks for the feedback.
maybe its only the bubble gum blue models
One of the dumbest features ever, Ford does it too. Unbelievable.
Ford, GM, Ram all do it. I think that Ram is the only one that a customer CAN’T TURN OFF.
@@prestonflanikensellscars9640 You can hold the keyfob near the window when shutting the door, there's like a sweet spot and the horn won't go off. It's still not ideal because you have to have it in your hand but I found it's not too bad all things considered.
I didn’t think to try this. Good observation.
OR, just get a TAZER programmer and enable KILL3Honk
is this out for the 2022 rams yet?

This is the kinda crap that makes you disown an entire brand. The uconnect system is infuriating and trash.
Here’s an updated video about the honing.
Embarrassingly easy way to stop the three horn honk on Ram trucks

Why not just keep the fob in your pocket?
If you don’t have a valid key fob inside the vehicle when you shut the door with the engine running, then the horn will honk.
