Upgrade: HP Omen Gaming Laptop Gets A New SSHD!

- In this video, I upgrade my HP Omen from a 1TB HDD to a 2TB SSHD.
*Note: This is the laptop with the 128GB M.2 SSD in it, therefore, swapping the SATA drive does not affect the C: drive. Keep in mind that if you are performing this swap on a model without the M.2 drive that you will have a blank disc, and have to find other means of cloning your C: drive.

okay so im new to computers and laptop, my 2019 omen came only with a 240gb ssd and i wanted to upgrade it to a 1tb ssd, where im confused in this video is how did windows start and work when he installed a fresh new ssd, did the ssd already come with windows on it, did he transfer all his stuff before putting the new 2tb ssd in? if someone could help me i'd greatly appreciate it. I'm trying to learn as much as i can
Can u teach us how to boot the laptop, cuz after i replace the old ssd with new one,it keep popping out the reboot and select proper boot device
Can I add sata ssd in the place of HDD?
good job sir
Hello man. I have an hp omen laptop (15 dc00xxxx model - 1050Ti version). I was wondering if the battery part number SR04XL is compatible with my laptop? Mine is an SR03XL because my battery is dead and I need to buy one.
I’m not sure. I’d ask HP about that since using the wrong battery could damage your laptop beyond repair.
do you know if the omen can be upgraded from a 1080 screen to a 4k screen? ive been trying to track down a screen for a while but sadly cant, unless there that hard to find.
I have been wondering this myself, however it probably wouldn’t be worth it. The 1050ti is already starting to show it’s age at 1080p with modern titles such as BFV.
Hello, I would like to know the model of your laptop please, I understand that the recommended mix is 1TB HDD + 500GB M.2 SSD NVME as the maxim storage capacity, do you have problems using 2TB instead of the original 1TB HDD or the laptop works fine?
I have never heard of such a limitation on a modern computer. It works fine for me! I’ll have to get the model number later as I’m away from that computer at this time.
I have low disk space for gaming, should I upgrade the hard drive or SSD?
I have an omen hp laptop I want to upgrade my hard drive?
How difficult is it
It’s not too hard, as seen in the video.
GR8 JOB
Thanks!
Dood thank u for showing me how to set it up on laptop screen
Do you have a video on how to change the c drive?
Yup sure do!

Okay, after you replace the drive, how are you getting it to recognize windows etc, becuase the new drive is blank, can you please show that part?
I showed that part at the end of the video.
Excuse me, is that internal hard drive 2.5"?
Yes.
I have a 526 GB hard drive where can I find the 1 or 2 tb hard drive or name brands new to pc gaming need some help and advice plz
I’d go on Amazon. If you are looking for a mechanical hard drive, there is Seagate and Western Digital to name a few bigger brands. SSD are Samsung, Crucial, Corsair, Western Digital I think makes them too. There are a ton of SSD brands I just named the more memorable ones.
is this windows c drive? or d drive? i have a full c drive which is 116gb and an empty d drive at 1tb, i dont know what to do, do i need a bigger c drive or can i use the d drive people say i shouldnt use d drive, sorry if i confuzed you i have no idea what im talking about when it comes to computers
If yours has the same configuration as mine, that is the D drive. That is where I store all of my games and programs, videos, photos and so on. The C drive is a little M.2 drive which I think is right above the battery. It is a little green stick. That if you swap it out, will lose everything without first backing it up/cloning it. What I would do, is get like a 1TB Samsung 970 evo plus or similar so that you can use the Samsung magician software. From there get a SATA to M.2 adaptor, replace the D drive with that adaptor with your new M.2 drive installed in it, and then boot up windows. Run Samsung magician and clone your c drive to the new drive. Once that’s done, remove the SATA adaptor, take out the M.2 drive you just had cloned, replace your C drive with the new one, replace your D drive with your 1TB again or a new one and boot up windows and you should be good to go. I just did this with another PC in the house.
will this upgrade affect in any way or form my ssd? im on the hp omen 17-an124 version that has the 250ssd and the 1tb hdd
It did not affect mine so you should have a similar experience. Always create backups of important things if you are concerned.
Seagate notorious for short life though... they are cheaper for a reason. Such a shame they took over samsung HD division as they were the best durability/performance/price point. WD used to be woeful, but have learned to go better quality than low price route. They are all I am using now except for some old samaungs.
Yes they sure seem to be. It is already dying on me which is too bad.
my didn't came with a hdd.
do i need to buy the cables aswell?
Not sure I would try to search around. But more than likely yes and they are probably a proprietary cable as well. As far as the routing anyway and maybe even the motherboard port. Obviously the HD end is going to be standard.
Is your hp omen the one with the rx 580 graphics card or does it have a gtx?
Gtx 1050 ti.
The hp omen has a 1 tb hdd 7200 rpm while the seagate sshd is 5400 rpm . Yes its 2 tb but its way slower. Best deal .... ssd or keep the 1tb hdd
Sure thing for performance. I needed more mass storage.
um that looks like a HD drive not a SSD drive that you replaced the old drive with. Not a SSD what the >?
It’s a solid state hybrid drive.
Can I add a NVME SSD?
Nvme ssd don’t use sata. My particular laptop has one nvme ssd. You could replace that with a larger one. You’d just need to reinstall windows.
Has the Laptop Sata III?
I am not too sure.
Wtf those don't come with SSD's 🤔
The more expensive model did back then.
I purchased 2tb SSHD but it doesn't have an OS build in it. I don't know how to install etc. Can you give me some advice?
You would most likely have to contact your manufacturer to get a recovery disc. Or perhaps the windows 10 installer may work for you since your hardware Id is activated, however I’m not too familiar with how that all works. Maybe someone else can chime in.
