Hello, What is Ram speeds 3200? My HP Omen 15 -dh1099nr comes with DDR4 ram at 2933 speeds. If I bought a crucial ddr4 ram at 3200 speeds, does that mean it can't possibly run at 3200 because isn't supported by the motherboard? will it autodefault to the fastest possible speed which is 2933? should i force it to run at 3200 ? I don't understand this at all but trying to buy the ram has confused me a bit
Hello, my HP Omen 2019 has gathered some white dust on the fan and the lid, it's stuck due to the heat, so after opening the lid how do it clean it? Can I remove the fans? The white dust maybe baby powder so yeah, please help me out. Also will the warranty be voided if I open the lid?
To be 100% sure you have to read your warranty card as it may vary between countries. If you want to clean the fans you have to know what you are doing because it's easy to damage something while disassembling cooling system. You have to also change thermal paste if you willing to take out fans because you have to disassembly whole cooling system

It's on the right with 2 shared heat pipes i guess. I didn't pay attention to that since i didn't disassembly cooling system in this laptop. The GPU is signed with Nvidia logo so you can recognize it ;)

It comes with M.2 SSD. This laptop had 2 slots - one for M.2 SSD and one for 2.5" drive, so if it comes with one drive you have one slot free. SSHD/HDD are very similar to each other, so if you're on a budget go for HDD.

Tell me the exact model name of this Zephyrus. In genetal Zephyrus it a top-end brand from Asus so it will be more expensive than Predator while at the same time it may be that with Predator you'll get even better performance and thermal.
I'm between Omen 17 and Legion Y740 17. both at the same price during the new year deals, with 16 Ram, 512SSD +1tera HDD, RTX (2070,,but legion maxQ). I need best performance and cooling during high load from the software.
In Legion you can't set max fan speed. I didn't test Y740 so I can't really compare but basing on my tests of Omen and on what people say about Y740 in the reviews I would rather go for Omen.

@@OmenJap Nobody can predict longavity, but i never consider hinges any deal breaker, because if you use laptop normally it will last. The 2019 all black Omen is all metal.
I've had my omen for over a year and I have a few questions about upgrading: -If I leave the default 8 GB RAM and I add a new 8GB RAM of different brand but with the required specifications, will there be any performance problem? -Does the omen come with a M.2 ssd by deffault or sholud I buy it to improve performance? Hi, you can leave your RAM and add another 8GB of other brand (just match the specs). If your Omen has SSD it's M.2 for sure and Windows is installed on it. You can either replace it for a bigger one or add another SSD (2.5") to the empty drive bay if you haven't any HDD installed there.
You need a phillips head screwdriver, but idk the exact size. I always measure it approvimately to the screw so i can see if it's too big or i can see if it's not too loose to not damage the screw. When unscrewing the head should match the screw cross fairly tight and you have to push the screwdriver down in the direction of screw a bit .

It may depend on the country or seller so you better read your warranty card to be 100% sure. After one year you should difinietely think of changing thermal paste and cleaning the fans from dust

You can't have two m.2 SSDs in this laptop. You have only one slot for M.2 SSD and one 2.5" drive bay where you can add 2.5" SSD. Btw. I don't know what's about this enclosure. Never heard about such thing.
@@yosannahendriansyah8253 ohh, ok I know now. This is basically an adapter where you put your M.2 SSD and you can plug it in via USB as an external drive. But you have to have system on the internal SSD anyway.

If you gonna add another SSD not touching existing SSD where you have windows installed then you don't have to do anything in BIOS. Just after installing SSD go to device managet in your system and make a partition.

I bought one of the m.s ssd from the description but it has 3 keys instead of 2 and then when I tried booting it up it did not work and then I placed the old m.2 ssd and I dont my hp omen is reading it as my hp omen says I only haven 500gb hard drive but dose not show the m.2 ssd with 256gb being read so I dont know how to fix it so can u help me? What is the size of the 2.5inch bay? I want to add an ssd as extra storage but after asking WD they told me I should ask the manufacturer about the size of the bay, and HP says nothing on their website.
If the SSD is about the same size as the FireCuda that i linked in the description then it will fit. The size is universal, but you can fins thicker 2.5" drives. I wouldn't risk more than 9mm thickness
Currently i think that the best gaming laptop is the MSI GE65 Raider. However if the price matters the 2019 Acer Predator Helios 300 is practically the same good.

Hello. I was thinking about getting HP Omen 15 but now I think Acer Predator Helios 300 might be better for me since heating is kind of a big issue with Omen. But I was wondering, does the Helios heat up a lot during Turbo mode? In most of the reviews I found, it only talks about the laptop gets really loud with the fans and nothing else. Is that a problem (like, is it bad for the health of the laptop)? Is a cooling pad really worth getting? I live in a tropical country where 30 degrees Celsius is usually the climate. Also, do you think a GTX 1660Ti will hold up well in the future? I mean, like will it at least be able to play newer 2019 games well at high settings, and maybe future games at lesser settings? I ask this because I'm not sure whether I should get a laptop with GTX 1660Ti or go for RTX 2060 (which is a little bit expensive for me if I choose to go with Helios).
Hey, the temperatures will vary depending on hotter or cooler region. When i was testing it in the UK i had like 21-23 degrees of room temperature. In general 2019 Helios 300 has very efficient cooling system compared to many other laptops on the market. Yes, it is loud when you enable turbo mode, but if you're ok with that then that's nothing bad for the laptop itself. If it comes to GPU the RTX 2060 is not very much better than 1660Ti while 1660Ti is usually much cheaper. Recently Red Dead Redemption 2 came out in Nov 2019 and it's a very demanding game. Idk how about other upcoming games but with GTX 1660Ti you're able to play RDR2 on high mixed with some medium settings and ultra texture details on the edge of 60fps.
About heating, I've bought a omen 15 with i7 and 1660ti and I was really surprised with the thermal profiles of the laptop. Even without undervolting it keeps good temps , especially with max fans, which are perfectly acceptable under the noise aspect. Predator is just a bit cooler but very very noisy.

I am getting help to change it, but I have to buy the parts myself. I read that you said one is M.2 while the other is 2.5 drive. Is it the C-drive that is M.2, and the D drive that is a 2.5? And when it comes to ram, does it have to be a DDR4 in order for it to fit? I tried a company that sells parts, but one of them said what I wanted would fit, and the other told me it would not.. And HP themself told me I could not upgrade anything at all.. I really want to update my pc, but I know so little about this :( Dont want to waste money by getting something I cannot use for it..
In the description I linked compatible parts. If you wanna mix RAM go for Crucial as it has the same specs as original ram. It should be ddr4. Your actual c drive is m.2, and d drive is your HDD. The letter is only the name tho. You can upgrade your laptop, just ensure that your warranty terms allow you to do so

Hey. Could you please help me? I got the same sshd installed by a professional and after installing it, the laptop screen stopped working. I used a second screen to check if its working. The laptop booted up but ran into problems. I went into bios and changed to legacy boot. It booted up fine but after 30 seconds or so the screen goes blank but the laptop seems to still be running. Do you know what causes this issue? Is it only due to a loose display port connection or something more serious? Please help me. I am in panic mode as the laptop is only 2 days old and I don't know what the guy from best buy messed up while installing it.
The only thing i can suggest is to do hard reset. Turn off the laptop, open the bottom lid, disconnect the battery from motherboard. Then hold the power button for 30 seconds, connect the battery, close the lid and see if it's working. Also remove the HDD to check if it's the cause of problems. But to me it doesn't have any corelation. The chance is that your laptop came defective, but i can't predict.

if you stripped the head of screw then i don't know what you can do now. Try to use thin layer of rubber between screw and screwdriver to fill the head of stripped screw and try to unscrew it.

There are various configurations, mine didn't have optane. If you have a configuration with oprane the drive will be in the place of M.2 SSD. I don't know if it's replaceable.

The default storages in my laptop are: 1 TB 7200 rpm SATA 16 GB PCIe® NVMe™ Intel® Optane™ Memory for storage acceleration Can I just change the 16GB PCIe NVMe to the larger M2 SSD (foe example 1 TB) and just use the windows media creation tool to migrate the windows from the 16GB NVME to the new SSD or there is something else to do? It depends if you have 1x8 or 2x4 now. You can just add another 8GB if you have 1x8 and for that go for RAM that has closest possible specs to your original RAM. A good match is Crucial that I linked in the description

You can turn the laptop back to factory settings at any time if you mean that. But if you changed the drive where Windows 10 was installed you have to get a copy of Windows 10 and fresh install it on new drive.

HP says that they sell this laptop with up to 512GB SSD, but you can install more. For example 2tb

Tell me the exact model name of this Zephyrus. In genetal Zephyrus it a top-end brand from Asus so it will be more expensive than Predator while at the same time it may be that with Predator you'll get even better performance and thermal.

I'm between Omen 17 and Legion Y740 17. both at the same price during the new year deals, with 16 Ram, 512SSD +1tera HDD, RTX (2070,,but legion maxQ). I need best performance and cooling during high load from the software.
In Legion you can't set max fan speed. I didn't test Y740 so I can't really compare but basing on my tests of Omen and on what people say about Y740 in the reviews I would rather go for Omen.

I've had my omen for over a year and I have a few questions about upgrading:
-If I leave the default 8 GB RAM and I add a new 8GB RAM of different brand but with the required specifications, will there be any performance problem?
-Does the omen come with a M.2 ssd by deffault or sholud I buy it to improve performance?
Sorry if my questions are a little dumb, but Im not much into hardware and I use the laptop for design and testing of Deep learning models, that's why I need to improve the performance, I just have money to buy a new RAM tough.
Hi, you can leave your RAM and add another 8GB of other brand (just match the specs).
If your Omen has SSD it's M.2 for sure and Windows is installed on it. You can either replace it for a bigger one or add another SSD (2.5") to the empty drive bay if you haven't any HDD installed there.

im having trouble with both screws at the front corners, do you know what is the size of the screw drivers you need to use?
You need a phillips head screwdriver, but idk the exact size. I always measure it approvimately to the screw so i can see if it's too big or i can see if it's not too loose to not damage the screw. When unscrewing the head should match the screw cross fairly tight and you have to push the screwdriver down in the direction of screw a bit .

It may depend on the country or seller so you better read your warranty card to be 100% sure. After one year you should difinietely think of changing thermal paste and cleaning the fans from dust

How do you clean the fans of this laptop?
Would be good to unscrew the while casing of the fan and clean it inside with some ear sticks. But that's a job for people who are familiar with that kind of stuff i guess. I am not permitted to do it to testing units tho

You can't have two m.2 SSDs in this laptop. You have only one slot for M.2 SSD and one 2.5" drive bay where you can add 2.5" SSD. Btw. I don't know what's about this enclosure. Never heard about such thing.

If you gonna add another SSD not touching existing SSD where you have windows installed then you don't have to do anything in BIOS. Just after installing SSD go to device managet in your system and make a partition.

What is the size of the 2.5inch bay? I want to add an ssd as extra storage but after asking WD they told me I should ask the manufacturer about the size of the bay, and HP says nothing on their website.
If the SSD is about the same size as the FireCuda that i linked in the description then it will fit. The size is universal, but you can fins thicker 2.5" drives. I wouldn't risk more than 9mm thickness

Hello. I was thinking about getting HP Omen 15 but now I think Acer Predator Helios 300 might be better for me since heating is kind of a big issue with Omen. But I was wondering, does the Helios heat up a lot during Turbo mode? In most of the reviews I found, it only talks about the laptop gets really loud with the fans and nothing else. Is that a problem (like, is it bad for the health of the laptop)? Is a cooling pad really worth getting? I live in a tropical country where 30 degrees Celsius is usually the climate.
Also, do you think a GTX 1660Ti will hold up well in the future? I mean, like will it at least be able to play newer 2019 games well at high settings, and maybe future games at lesser settings? I ask this because I'm not sure whether I should get a laptop with GTX 1660Ti or go for RTX 2060 (which is a little bit expensive for me if I choose to go with Helios).
Hey, the temperatures will vary depending on hotter or cooler region. When i was testing it in the UK i had like 21-23 degrees of room temperature. In general 2019 Helios 300 has very efficient cooling system compared to many other laptops on the market. Yes, it is loud when you enable turbo mode, but if you're ok with that then that's nothing bad for the laptop itself.
If it comes to GPU the RTX 2060 is not very much better than 1660Ti while 1660Ti is usually much cheaper. Recently Red Dead Redemption 2 came out in Nov 2019 and it's a very demanding game. Idk how about other upcoming games but with GTX 1660Ti you're able to play RDR2 on high mixed with some medium settings and ultra texture details on the edge of 60fps.

About heating, I've bought a omen 15 with i7 and 1660ti and I was really surprised with the thermal profiles of the laptop. Even without undervolting it keeps good temps , especially with max fans, which are perfectly acceptable under the noise aspect. Predator is just a bit cooler but very very noisy.

The C drive is a SSD 250 gb, and the D drive is a HDD 1 tera, and I have 8 GB Ram. I want my C drive to be a 2 TB SSD, and my D drive to be a 2TB HDD, and My ram to be 16 GB Ram. I am getting help to change it, but I have to buy the parts myself. I read that you said one is M.2 while the other is 2.5 drive. Is it the C-drive that is M.2, and the D drive that is a 2.5? And when it comes to ram, does it have to be a DDR4 in order for it to fit? I tried a company that sells parts, but one of them said what I wanted would fit, and the other told me it would not.. And HP themself told me I could not upgrade anything at all.. I really want to update my pc, but I know so little about this :( Dont want to waste money by getting something I cannot use for it..
In the description I linked compatible parts. If you wanna mix RAM go for Crucial as it has the same specs as original ram. It should be ddr4. Your actual c drive is m.2, and d drive is your HDD. The letter is only the name tho. You can upgrade your laptop, just ensure that your warranty terms allow you to do so

Hey. Could you please help me? I got the same sshd installed by a professional and after installing it, the laptop screen stopped working. I used a second screen to check if its working. The laptop booted up but ran into problems. I went into bios and changed to legacy boot. It booted up fine but after 30 seconds or so the screen goes blank but the laptop seems to still be running. Do you know what causes this issue? Is it only due to a loose display port connection or something more serious? Please help me. I am in panic mode as the laptop is only 2 days old and I don't know what the guy from best buy messed up while installing it.
The only thing i can suggest is to do hard reset. Turn off the laptop, open the bottom lid, disconnect the battery from motherboard. Then hold the power button for 30 seconds, connect the battery, close the lid and see if it's working. Also remove the HDD to check if it's the cause of problems. But to me it doesn't have any corelation. The chance is that your laptop came defective, but i can't predict.

if you stripped the head of screw then i don't know what you can do now. Try to use thin layer of rubber between screw and screwdriver to fill the head of stripped screw and try to unscrew it.

There are various configurations, mine didn't have optane. If you have a configuration with oprane the drive will be in the place of M.2 SSD. I don't know if it's replaceable.

The default storages in my laptop are:
1 TB 7200 rpm SATA
16 GB PCIe® NVMe™ Intel® Optane™ Memory for storage acceleration
Can I just change the 16GB PCIe NVMe to the larger M2 SSD (foe example 1 TB) and just use the windows media creation tool to migrate the windows from the 16GB NVME to the new SSD or there is something else to do?

Hey I was planning to upgrade the Harddisk, but there's Seagate Firecuda and also Barracuda, the price difference is around 40-50€ for 2TB version, is it worth the extra 50 and is it safe to order HDD via Amazon, I have had bad experiences with HDD just going off due to falls.
Barracuda is HDD, Firecuda is SSHD. There's a huge difference in your case. I think you should be good with Barracuda then

If you bought this laptop and it came with M.2 SSD and 2.5" HDD then your SSD is C drive by default (with Windows).

It depends if you have 1x8 or 2x4 now. You can just add another 8GB if you have 1x8 and for that go for RAM that has closest possible specs to your original RAM. A good match is Crucial that I linked in the description

Most likely not, however it may vary between countries so better read your warranty card. In most cases if you do it and you won't cause any damage the warranty is not void

You can turn the laptop back to factory settings at any time if you mean that. But if you changed the drive where Windows 10 was installed you have to get a copy of Windows 10 and fresh install it on new drive.
