I bought my brother this laptop for Christmas a few weeks ago (I got 500 off for student discount - still cost me an arm and a leg and that’s only paying half with my mum (Australian pricing)) and he said if you leave the laptop plugged in you can max out the gaming settings. Works well for him cause he doesn’t really move the laptop. He loves it! So just a tip for anyone who’s thinking of picking this up 👍🏼
How abt Thermal Issues?

@@antonycamillus5672 but in my opinion buy a gaming desktop usually cheaper by 200$ and you dont worry for charging the battery and the rest of money buy a laptop for work and home. this is my opinion tho and now i regret getting a laptop like smaller screen but anyway it still amazing for gaming ;)
It's nice device but my screen failed within the first 3 months of average gaming. Sad

I bought my Hp Omen 15 roughly 6 months ago and I absolutely love it. Performance is great, I don’t do a lot of gaming but for video editing it definitely does what I need it to do quickly. Not a single problem yet either. Great review by the way 👍
What's your specs
So you have gaming in your name and you don't game that much?
Dinesh The model I have has the same specs as the one in the video except the 256gb ssd is a 128gb
Chimichangazzz i do most of my gaming on consoles I use my pc mostly for video editing
Is it still running well?
I just bought it and so far I love it, definitely a huge upgrade from my previous dell laptop that wasn’t even meant for gaming.
I heated that it gets very hot?!
This is actually the exact laptop I got from Micro Center on Cyber Monday. I have 0 complaints, it's amazing for the time i've been using it
I own the 17 inch one. Been over 10months now and i'm still amazed like day one, perfomance wise he's a beast. I rly recommend it!!! Satisfied costumer here
I bought an omen 15 this week with an rtx 2060, but seems this laptop suffers from overheating? Are you experiencing the same?
@@AxleWack not really. How can you overheat it? What are you doing? Just played HotS all night last night and went smooth as hell, on full max graphics. What games are you playing and on what type of surface do you put it on while doing so?
@@Joini50 I played ARK, for maybe an hour on basically all epic settings and the gpu and cpu were between 80 and 90 degrees celcius. The laptop was super hot to the touch, so didnt do anything out of the ordinary. I actually took it back to be checked out, so they doing stress testing on Monday.

@@spaff_hazz for me serious fps drops ,in pubg and csgo under gun fight
@@apoorvgupta9680 try disabling it first and see the performance, also undervolt it for some more heat management
Those are not the speakers, they're the air vents. The speakers are underneath near the front.
I've got the i5-8300h version of this laptop with the same GTX 1060. This was a deliberate decision, as you get much cooler thermals with little in the way of a trade off in performance. I've also got the model with the 144hz screen, as you're missing the sticker underneath your screen on the left, I assume you have the 60hz panel. The 144hz panel is highly recommended, not only does it mean full Nvidia G-Sync is supported, but it also has far better brightness and colour levels.
A few recommendations. First thing to do is update the BIOS. This will result in an additional 3rd mode in the Omen Control Centre called Comfort. This results in a big fan boost when under load and a 8-10 degree reduction in temperature. Also, use Throttlestop to undervolt both the CPU core and cache by between 125 and 145mv depending on what your individual CPU can deal with and remain stable. Again, this will result in further temperature drops. One of the main issues with the i7 version of this laptop is thermal throttling as it will regularly hit over 95 degrees when using intense games, both the above recommendations will reduce this happening.
Also, it's worth noting that the Thunderbolt port only comes with models sporting GTX 1060 and above. You can also get this laptop with a GTX 1050 and GTX 1050ti. This model only comes with a USB Type C.
Overall a fantastic laptop.
How loud are the fans like 60db? Or
@@drag7405 It depends on the profile. Comfort is really loud, over 50db I'd say, but if you are using headphones it doesn't matter. The standard profile is quiet, although the trade off in that is increased temperatures with prolonged gaming.
If you don't play games, but open over 50 to 100 browser tab simultaneously, will the fan kick off to make noise? Does the fan kick off only in games or other software app usage? I intend to get it for photo and video editing.
Pagnell - Hello.
Considering to buy this laptop.
Mostly will be using it for virtualization of networking devices: switches, routers, firewalls; using tools like: VMWare, Cisco Virl, Eve Ng, Virtual Box.
As for gaming - only Data and CS.
Could someone suggest whether this laptop is a good choice for the above mentioned purposes?
Thanks in advance
Like most modern laptops it will work fine for those purposes, an i5 8th gen will do the business when it comes to virtualization. However, I'd say the i7 CPU of the Omen could be better given the additional threads and cores.@@Inadriil

Hi sorry for my Previous comment...He is right...i bought this laptop also... No issues... Very impressive... definitely well built... Has a real thunderbolt 3 port... Can add egpu...
One important thing is that it can actually support very high end games once you upgrade the Bios. It adds a Comfort mode to the Omen Command Centre which is the more aggressive cooling for gaming and Default becomes silent mode where the fan is only kicked up when it gets hotter. The recent update last week actually made this better and with Overwatch at Ultra 144Hz its giving me max peaks of 80 but average of 74 which is insane. At that temp the fans also are a lot quieter so I'd take a look at that if you still can. The laptop by itself is great but once you upgrade the Bios it can tussle with any of the other options out there.
I got this on sale for 880 with a 1050 TI. It hasn’t arrived yet but this review really helped me decide.
The ethernet port, USB 3.1 port, HDMI, display port, and Thunderbolt 3 port on the back is really nice.
I hate when ports like those are on the side since you have to curve and bend cables.
Maybe it's just OCD, but I prefer to have cables neatly connecting instead of curving.
Plus you can hide things behind instead of cluttering on the sides.
Good to hear you can replace/upgrade components.
That's very important with laptops IMO.
Have The 2018 Version, Intel I7 7700HQ, 1050TI 4gb, 8gb of DDR4 Ram currently, 128gb M.2 SSD, and 1TB hard drive for storage. Overall meets all my light gaming needs when not on my Gaming Desktop, Nice and Fast, Really Enjoy The Laptop when i use it for various tasks
I REALLY like how they've arranged the PORTS...
I've been saying for a long time, give me the crap I need to access maybe every day on the sides, and all the other crap I likely don't need to access all the time ON THE BACK!
Just bought this for $600 brand new since my uncle gets big discounts on HP products. Hopefully it was worth the money!! Will update this review once I get it and play on it for a little while. Will only be doing schoolwork and casual gaming (OSRS) so I think it should handle it with a breeze. I gotta say it looks like a very good looking laptop, hopefully it appears that way in person too!

Hello is it capable of editing 4k vids?
Nice opening to go to the exact physical shop. Not many reviewers makes an intro just like that. Great change indeed .
I'm thinking about getting this for video editing.
Great video bro! Would say to include specifics about the laptop to help make an informed decisions for the different consumers who would be interested. Battery life, nits, average framerate in popular games and rgb spectrum.

Really good video mate! Thinking to pick this one up!
i think you touch on some good points on your videos, but the great videos like dav2d and linus talk about the thermals and do a much more in def video on the tech
I'm watching this on my new HP Omen. I got the upgrade for the RTX 2060 card, 16g ram and standard options other than that. I haven't run anything super demanding on it but it runs BeamNG Drive and minecraft with ray tracing shaders no problem. The one single thing I dont like about it is the placement of the GFX card fans. They're right where the laptop sits on your legs if you use in on your lap. You can see the vent placement in the video at 2:50.
So when I first used it, it was heating up because the fans were blocked until I realized where the vents were. I use my laptop while sitting in my recliner mostly so that's sort of a problem. I have a plan to 3d print a cover that goes on the bottom to direct air to the fans from the sides so I dont need a hard surface to set it on everywhere I go. Luckily this laptop runs Fusion360 like butter. One other thing that was just my ignorance was the headphone and microphone ports. I didn't know it had two ports so I thought the headphone port was malfunctioning until I noticed it had two ports and plugged my headphones into the right one. Overall I'm happy with it.
Just seen the house tour video pretty dope can’t wait to see the basement how it comes out looking forward 👍✌️😎
You could install Windows precision drivers for the touchpad and it makes life much better. It’s pretty much a must for laptops that don’t come stock with the precision drivers.

Bought it March 2019. I bought extended warranty 4 years for 400 bucks. I gamed on it for 3 months in that time frame. Realized I want to game on console. Wanted to keep using it for uploading videos and it got error code Kernal and blue screen and stopped working. Brought it back to Best Buy but cuz the 4 year 400 dollar warranty was out by 5 months. I was out of luck. My 400 went to nothing and now it died while they were doing a diagnostic check that I paid 60 bucks for just now. Now my hp laptop model 15-dc0010ca died while not even in my posession and they want me to pay 570 bucks for a new mother board. I mean the laptop provided a good 3 months of use for 1300 bucks plus 400 good for nothing warranty. I was hoping for at least 10 years though😢. So I went to pay for the motherboard and now they are saying 980 for it..... my goodness.
Same here, bought one for 1200 on 4 years ago with Intel 9750h with GTX 1660ti. Last week it just suddenly black screen and then never turn on even I reinstalled the battery and hardrive. I bought this laptop 2 months ago and its amazing. I've downloaded a good amount of triple A games and Dolphin emulator on it and it works gr8. The only set back is the laptop has to be plugged in order to play or else you get 15 fps. I tried configuring the settings on nvidia's control panel and put it on "prefer high performance". it worked for a day but idfk what happened. When plugged in, and on nvidia's recommended settings, Pubg can play up to 80fps and the quality is bretty gord even on Wi-Fi. For storage, i can store about 4 triple A games on the SSD, so i advise to only put the games you no-life on this drive. So far it's met my expectations for a good performance laptop. sux it cost me $1,499.

Yeah, well kinda, so I have this laptop, It's amazing, I love it, however.... The CPU can get extremely hot while using it, 95°c plus with high settings on most games, this isn't a problem for now as it doesn't thermal throttle, however I do believe that in the near future with more demanding games being released (like the division 2) the CPU runs a serious risk of hitting it's t junction (105°c according to the Intel website)

Probally a bit late to the party but I bought this laptop and could not be happier. I first bought a more expansive MSI laptop with a RTX 2060 and i7. But the thing would get so hot. 95° CPU at 10 minutes of playing. I undervolted it and used a cooling pad but it didn't really make an aprovement. It does not give a peace of mind playing at those tempratures. I returned it and bought this one. Thermals are WAY better. My CPU reaches max 60° and GPU 70°. I have to tweak some settings and can not play everything maxed out what I don't really mind because I'm more a casual gamer. Definitly recommend for a mid tier gaming laptop!
Well I have the exact same Laptop with an RTX 2070 and the temps go through the roof. 90 - 95c while on load and sounds like a jet engine.
