After six years, our 2015 Speed Queen 8-Series laundry pair has been completely reliable with no issues. This is a video of some long-overdue maintenance on the dryer.

I do this once a year to our KitchenAid electric dryer. It's 24 years old and the only repair it's ever had was replacing the thermal switch back in 2018.

Very nice! I'm about due to do a full tear down, and thorough cleaning of the 1977 Kenmore gas dryer, likely next year. Wasn't too bad when I did a quick cleanup a couple weeks ago.

Wow, that's a completely different layout from the old Whilpool dryers I'm used to working on. I was surprised by the circuit board down by the burner! Love that modified dishwasher too :-)

That doesn't look too bad, this will be quite a helpful video for when it's time to do the same to mine!

Thanks for this. I just bought a new speed queen washer and dryer. I assume the dryer is basically the same as your 2015 model ?
@ 5:58 if that entire piece is plastic, seems like it would be OK to wash it out with a garden hose ? Thanks in advance!

I had to do this with the GE electric dryer I inherited at the new place. It was DISGUSTING inside and wasn't drying clothes all that well. I wonder why! This was after having the dryer vent line cleaned as well. Magically, the dryer drys clothes again.
TL;DR, maintain your appliances people. They'll run much more efficient and have the added bonus of not burning your home down.

Our inside vent grate continues to burn, leave marks on clothing, and eventually tear clothing that gets stuck to it. We’ve changed the grate twice in one year. Service came out and said nothing is wrong. We don’t overfill it, it does it with natural fabrics, it does it with medium heat….Any suggestions?

Fix the venting. Low airflow causes it to overheat. Get rid of any corrugated flex tubing (rigid metal only), and clean your dryer duct. The duct termination outside can also cause problems if it's too small and restrictive. Last, tight houses might not allow enough fresh air to enter the home to replace what's being blown out by the dryer.

Speed queen dryer looks like a Maytag dryer

Speed Queen and Amana were once both owned by Raytheon and the two brands shared some designs. When Maytag bought Amana, Amana still had the rights to some of these shared designs, which Maytag then used. It's confusing, but the two dryers were *designed* similarly but not *manufactured* the same.

I was hoping to see the removal of the upper and lower panels. Going to have to keep searching for a video on that.

@@jbintx4009 just take out the 5/16 bolts and the bottom of the panel and pull slightly down and out.
