Sometimes all we need is a little reminder to not be so hard on ourselves... If this video helped you in any way, then it would be awesome if you could drop a like and subscribe for future episodes coming your way!
I was so going to skip this video today. I had a real rough mental health day yesterday. I was thinking this morning, "What does a 17 year hold possibly have to say about loving yourself". Especially to a struggling 51 year old man. Tears. So many tears watching this. "Why don't I just like myself" - So simple it sounds dumb. But guess what? It pointed out to me how much I don't like myself. How much I struggle with any kind of self acceptance. Thank you both so much for sharing this. By the way Mel, the way you sign off your emails always makes me emotional. Why would you believe in me when I sure don't.
❤️ I hope you dont have too many hard days. Life is like an ECG. It’s ups and downs - we don’t want to flatline in any way right? Have a beautiful day. Not just a good day. Find the beauty in your day ❤️
hahaha omg. What a great kid you have, Mel ! Incredible self confidence, self assurance, it feels like he has a great sense of who he is. He'll be a fantastic man in years to come. Congrats to Oakley for developing that, and congrats to you Mel, for being part of that development! That was a really fun video to watch, I've saved it in a watchlist for the future too. Already feeling a boost of self-love!
"There's nothing wrong with me" 🎤 drop! This was exactly what I needed to hear and didn't realize. I'm a single mom who's friends are all happily married. I love them I'm proud of them, but in all my life's effort to find a healthy relationship like them, I'm seeing how I've had a tiny inner voice whisper "there's something wrong" when there's not! My journey is beautiful and mine and when it's right I'll have my healthy relationship. Meanwhile, single isn't "wrong" 💗🤗 thank you!!! Keep being your amazing you!!
This was the hardest concept for me. My inner self immediately pushed back. "Don't be ridiculous, nothing wrong with you?!" And out came the list of things I want to improve. I have a hard time not criticizing what I want to improve. Mom felt her job was always to tell me what was wrong, so I continue that. Working on it.
Oakley is a great example what we can grow up to be when raised in a loving, safe environment. My heart goes out to everyone, including myself who didn´t. Thats wy we shouldnt blame ourselves for learning self-love so late in life...its not our fault. We weren´t mirrored love as children.
Oh. My heavens what an advanced human Oakley is. Immediately I noticed his way of listening, it's uniquely reflective, not just for a teen but in any person of any age. Not only does he give the speaker full attention, but he is so authentic that you can see he is not in a hurry to give an answer, you can see the way he is very present with what is being said. Just fascinating, thank you for sharing this.
MEL!!! Your smile was from ear to ear watching your gorgeous son and his sharp mind! Oakley, what a guy!! I am 62 and man, did I learn from you watching this! I think you doing a podcast for younger people would be amazing! Thank you for your insight, your energy and your positivity. WE NEED THIS IN OUR WORLD!! Keep going on your journey. You are an example for us!!🙏
Thank you for sharing.. recently I’ve been going through some intense inner work and consulted my counsellor I had in my life over the years. I’ve started re learn how to love myself after feeling empty and bewildered at life. I’m approaching 60 and a man, a caring man living in 🇬🇧. I’m challenging myself to be Authentic in all relationships, be open as possible and just be me! . Learn to love each foot step and feeling at peace with myself, yes accepting myself. Thanks again for sharing xx
"There's nothing wrong with me" - nothing more true than this! 💛We find true happiness and self love when we understand that at our core and on a soul level that we are perfect and anything leading us to believe otherwise is just a layer of self doubt and conditioning that we need to uncover and work through to get closer to the core of who we are
Dear Mel, THIS was so supportive and VALUABLE. Thank you. Dr. Gladys McGeary is 103 years old. She said she didn’t love herself until age 93! It is an inside job. I am going to consciously start now. ❤ [Your son is truly a delightful young man.]
The love and bond between you both is truly beautiful.. you are blessed and your son is a credit to you. All what he said she from his heart and I’m sure he’s helped many youngsters take a different view of themselves x Thank you 🙏
Counting one’s blessings is so important! Get off the physical because that changes. I think most people can say they are a good person and just have to include themselves in that goodness. Also, the sixth commandment, Thou shall not kill, and that includes the words, thoughts and feelings we have towards ourselves. We are all fearfully and wonderfully made whether we want to admit it to ourselves or not!😊
Wow loved this pod cast your son is amazing thank you so much for sharing the deep connections of how he feels and such lovely advice as always love you mel x
Oh Mel I just got so tickled at your story about the perm. I love your authenticity. Your son is absolutely amazing! I can’t wait to share this with my now 13 year old grandson
First thank you for the Instagram "There's nothing wrong with me" - That started a chain of events today, that brought me to listen to today's podcast instead of continuing with the back episodes. This was amazing, very very awesome. I definitely going to subscribe to the 5 day challenge... Love the HIGH 5 Idea especially. I've been working on adding love into my space - for me, for around me, for those I know, and don't know. Thank you - much love to your family, work and especially you!
As a parent, these are the things that keep you up about. Thanks so much for sharing this personal conversation. I LOVE that you pointed out that it's never too early or too late to have a better relationship with yourself... It never ceases to amaze me that we can be so very kind to others but never do it for you. Thanks so much for sharing this testimony.
This was such a beautiful video Mel & Oakley. I can see the love you have for your son Mel shine through you as you speak to him, and also listen to what he is saying. I can also see the love Oakley has for you Mel, and how proud he is of you of how far you have come in your new journey to become the person you were always meant to be. He sees how compassionate you are, to not only help yourself, and your family, but he sees how much you truly mean what you say, to really want to help others see the beauty that life has to offer. You both are beautiful souls, and I know Covid was bad for many people, but sometimes it also means that it was something that happened only to end up with something good in the end. We all learned something from this, and from that it made us realize how short life can be and to cherish all the small things in life, and to learn to live in the moment, and appreciate the time we have with our loved ones, and to not take life for granted. Much love to you and your son Oakley Mel. ❤️🤗🥰😘❤️
Omg Mel I'm already in tears and haven't even started to listen. I sent this to both my boys 16 and 18. I am momma bear for both and love them both differently. Thank you and Oakley for sharing.
This is ...was AMAZING ...your son is so right on about the feelings, letting others make you feel bad about yourself ..There's nothing wrong with you😉😇🙏💝🙏.. Thank you for this session. Uplifting to see both of you together..😇💕😇real as it gets!
Your son is adorable and incredibly brave. I am saving this podcast for a certain young teenage lady in my life to listen to. Thank you for sharing this. ❤
High 5’s to you and your adorable and impressive young man. So touched and changed by this beautifully crafted video. I will watch it repeatedly to keep its message fresh in my soul. Much love and gratitude for this message.
Love this, I hope I can talk to my daughter like that when she is 17. She is just 4 and I already see her as a tiny teenager rolling her eyes and being sassy. This is wonderful, I am madly deeply love this conversation. I hope I can learn loving myself for me and for my daughter.
Oh Mel! Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful!! Ur my hero and ur son is awesome!! Hi five!!!! I'm 42 and starting all over in life and I can honestly say that I love me...more than I ever have!! I was almost beaten to death in July by my now ex narc...he was my childhood friend...I went to the ER and he's facing 6 felonies...I'm a survivor who is now working and thriving and I have a family of coworkers...and I have an amazing group therapy and a therapist...but I love ME!! This girl has been thru a lot!! This girl has a whole lot of life to live still!! Hi five Mel and all of US!!!
Wow wow wow. O is a natural 🤩! Awesome young man!! Really loved the podcast subject. I’m sending to my 13 yr old and hope she enjoys it as much as I did. Thank you 🙏🏼 🙏🏼 Mel. I’m so thankful for your podcast ♥️ and all that you share .
This makes me think of my relationship with my 19 year old son. We both work hard on ourselves and try to make the world a better place everyday. Thanks to you both for sharing and reaching out. ❤And, good on you guys for watching this and for finding ways to love yourselves and others.
You have no idea how I needed this!!! This is the best message I’ve heard in a long time. I’m 51 and don’t like mirrors and ya so much more but I’m working on self love. Thank you so much!!!
This is gold! Considering the craziness we are bombarded with on a daily basis, it is so damn important to be kinder towards oneself, no matter what the world says or throws at you. Your son's testimony is one of growth and awareness. There are so many valuable lessons both of you have gracefully shared with all of us. He is definitely growing into a lovely well-balanced young man. Both you and your hubby must be so proud!
What an amazingly aware young man, Mumma Bear, Dad & sisters have clearly nurtured him! Can only imagine how proud you all are of him! Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏽🌻
Wow,is your son a replica of your husband. It is uncanny!! Anyways, thank you for sharing these very personal moments with Oakley with us all. I know this will help so many🙏
Okay, that was really great, and something I need on this dark and dreary monday morning. I *wish* that I had had sucha relationship with my own parents. I never got to really know my mother, and my dad passed away a few years ago. It had it's ups and downs. Mel, you're an amazing mom and person all around. Oakley, you're an awesome young man. Mom and dad raised you right. You're gonna go far.
The whole interview was beautiful but that ending was heartwarming. I have three boys and i love them so much. Praying to continue building a beautiful relationship with them for the rest of our lives🙏. Thank you, Mel.
This was such a wonderful episode! I love your relationship with your son! You concentrate on the most important things. ( like not correcting about swearing). Your son is so smart to figure this all out! I can relate to what he was saying about thinking something was wrong with himself. When Covid hit I got to spend more time with my husband, working on things that I loved doing and not going to the doctors all the time!! I felt great. Just like your son! But I was 60! Better late than never! Thank you! I Love your show !!!!

I Love Okleys explanation of forming a good habit is like building your muscles up...the easier it gets. On that note, I’m off to the gym. Thanks Oakley...Thanks Mel, Granny from Down yonder NZ. ❤
That was so incredibly deep and beautiful Oakley. Those five simple words..”There is nothing wrong with you” and the helpful suggestions on how to love yourself. I learned so much today! Thank you 🙏 😊❤

This conversation is so important, especially for members in the LGBTQ community that’s been told they’re defective and wrong by society’s standards. 💙💙
@@universaltruth2025 and for the amount of validation that we are receiving in certain circles there’s still host of extremely dangerous, dehumanizing, and destructive messages seeping the queer community still being propagated en masse.
@@d.m.junior6194 I don’t see any evidence of that at all. I see the opposite. I see rainbow flags flying at every school. I see the school children getting a day of mufti to celebrate ‘diversity’ (ie LGBTQ etc) day. I see gay pride parades hosted every year. I see drag queens being paid to read stories to young preschoolers in libraries. I see that every other politician now seems to be gay or transgender. I see school policy around things like unisex toilets and pronoun use being changed to accommodate children who don’t identify as the opposite sex. I see the that LGBTQ people occupy many prominent media positions. I see movies made and characters included in popular series to represent the LGBTQ community. So no I disagree, I don’t think there is much evidence to say society views LGBTQ as defective or wrong - I think over the last few decades there have been many many attempts to make sure public policy is non-discriminatory and inclusive of diverse identities.

Thanks so much, Mel and Oakley 🙏 That was awesome, I learned a lot from your lovely podcast today. Thank you for sharing 🥰

This podcast should be in all schools m. Love you guys ❤️
Beautiful, truthful and heart-warming ❤️
Thank you for not starting with self love. That topic makes me want to run from the conversation, sends my heartbeat into overdrive, tell myself to breathe. So much easier starting at self hatred, I can relate to that scenario.

This video brought a big smile to my heart! Thanks.❤
Loved this !! 🙌
Mel I can see the pride in your smile.
He is an amazing soul.
I see the beautiful relationship you have.
I love my 3 children like this and have a great relationship with them but my 26 year old son ( in gaol atm for having a pub fight, sticking up for a mate) but also has bi polar adhd etc.
He is the most amazing inspirational soul that I see greatness for in the form of mentoring youth of Australia that are traveling the wrong path and helping them turn their life around.
“Son’s who can teach from experience” our children are our future. ❤️
