    Lewis - I'm glad you had Marissa on again. There were some really good points she said that triggered some of my old memories about money, relationships and especially the one where she talked about when the parents don't show attention to the child, the child doesn't stop loving the parents, the child stops loving themselves.
    Really hit home for me. So true and heartbreaking.
    Thanks again 😊

      I really enjoy her too. She just has a way of making me feel calm and that everything is manageable. The part about Nelson Mandela in solitary confinement for 27 years put it in perspective for me. I am in my comfortable house, with the internet and plenty of art materials (I am an artist) I can order delicious food delivered to my door. I have Zoom quizzes to see my friends and can have a glass of wine and a catch up with family albeit online. And it's a few weeks. It's more of a free retreat than a lockdown

    So true... If you change your thoughts, you change your feelings!! I came home from Iraq, and was in a bookstore in Albany, NY, when a fire alarm went off... The kind like they use in the Midwest states for tornado warnings! This alarm was also the same kind they used for the SCUD alarms in Kuwait. Well, back in the bookstore, I started to get a panic attack... So, I repeated to myself, "You are safe in a bookstore in Albany, NY... It's just a fire alarm... " After repeating that about 3 or 4 times, I started to breathe more normally and I felt OK again!

    I love listening to Marisa Peer, just listening to this video on negative thoughts is so true. I have a pile of dishes to do, doesn't help that my dishwasher broke down during lock down of the Covid 19. So instead of thinking OMG what a mess, I have just said to myself if I clean away these dishes I will have a lovely clean bench which is what I am now going to choose to do. Marisa is so encouraging and makes sense and helps to stop and think of what we tell our self turn negative into a posstive.

    I was stuck after my mother passed away because I didn't want to deal with the pain, didn't want to hurt from her being gone. I hid it! I found Marisa Peer, I don't even know how. All I know is after listening to her, I fell out of a kayak and realized the water wasn't as deep as I imagined it to be. That experience helped the I Am Enough become reality. I was able to acknowledge the pain, evolving to facing the pain, realizing it's ok to look at what hurts. Thank you so much for the work you're doing to help other Beings along this temporary path!

    I learned to care for others to feel better about myself. I was born with chronic health issues and never got attention for it at all. I think the lack of attention made me stronger. I think my poor health now comes from not setting better boundaries or putting up with toxic people. I was raised in a family that encouraged you to push your body and not take your health seriously. I lived with very few needs met. Due to that I learned to be a survivor. I think having a difficult childhood can make you stronger. I use humor to survive and enjoy meeting goals and challenges. It really is a mind set.

    This was a wonderful episode I appreciate the content of the school of greatness and having Marisa on as a guest. I have recently come to know her teachings. I tend to play out scenarios in my head in order to judge how things may play out way too often. I do this in order to attempt to avoid conflict or disappointment, directly related to my childhood and having negative results pointed out more than positive ones. Side note on audio: There is an echo I believe for the entire episode. The audio is overlapping. I just wanted to point this out in case no one had mentioned it. Thank you so much for reading and considering, looking forward to the next episode.

    • @practical.emotions
      @practical.emotions 4 года назад +2

      Tiara Yong also heard the echo! Also-I’m taking Marisa’s RTT program-she also has an individual program on Mindvalley, def check her out! She’s changed my whole life by helping me find the stories I believed that kept me stuck. It feels like you might have a lot of anxiety and self doubt/paralysis? bc of the scenarios you give yourself which are hard to get your body out of flight or fight at that moment. Remember every invention comes from the unknown, not what we know. Otherwise we’d still be using horse and buggy and not know a thing about medicine and def not have any technology. Tell yourself you are safe, you are excited for new opportunities and other people are not going to treat you like your family did when you were a small child and didn’t have a voice. Now you do-you have a response in your gut or throat or lower back when someone says something or does something that doesn’t feel like you’re treated well. You have a voice and can say, ‘be nice, don’t speak to me that way, that doesn’t feel good....’ or you can leave and not let that person contact you ever again. Thank you Marisa and Lewis! I love you both sooo much!

    I was a B student. I would visualize hitting a target as an Archer, bullseye everytime. I met a man who studied all the time, so I studied too. I started making some A grades. We divorced, I had to raise the children myself. I accentuated their positive aspects. They each uniquely developed to be independent, creative, self sufficient, positive. I had to go back to school to stay employed. I was making a B grade. A wonderful friend from Pakistan started calling me at night to study. She was educated to write essays to explain questions, not answer ABCD multiple choice. I helped her discern how each choice was right, or wrong. I started making As. Taking the last class together, I learned my learning style depended upon kinesthetic learning. So by having to answer her questions, by flipping back and forth in the text to prove the correct response, helped me. I realized I learned to read by standing up at my dad's desk and orating out the text to entertain an audience. It kept me from falling to sleep while reading, bored. My grandfather was a Shakespearean actor. We put on dramatic productions as children. I taught children concepts by letting them act out. We aren't meant to be in a chair, listening six hours a day, we are meant to be free, moving. I love Richard Burton, he stands up and acts out answers to questions. Most teachers won't allow it.

    Wow such powerful words! I think we all have a few of those characteristics to some degree - Caring / Rebel / Sick / Over Achiever ect. I feel like I have gone through each and every one of those roles in my life at some point or another in order to get that attention I was lacking as a kid. Now that I realize what I have been doing I can find a better way to get love and have more compassion for those who are also doing those things to get attention. Thank you for this

    I was incredibly blessed to have started a transformative routine a few years ago and the progress I've made in that time has made ALL the difference in my response to and feelings during this trying time. I share a house with my controlling type A ex husband and our two sons and I think I might have taken leave of every last sensibility had this occurred three years ago. As it is we've managed to enjoy our kids together better than we ever have even though we still disagree about EVERYTHING. Establishing and maintaining a midlife transformation reminded me that I am capable and that life can be delicious. It's very difficult to engage me in negativity anymore and if I could share one thing with the world it would be this peace. 💝

    • @debbiedebbie9473

      What was the transformative routine exactly ?

    • @hawkarae
      @hawkarae 4 года назад +2

      @@debbiedebbie9473 I call it owning my shit. I got really fucking honest with myself- took a stark look at how small, scared and ineffectual I had allowed myself to become. I stopped taking the five medications I'd been taking for years and started listening to audiobooks, podcasts and lectures by people who have achieved self mastery for hours while doing some physical activity like walking, cleaning, sanding, etc., anything and everything to get my house in order and clear space for new thoughts and habits. I started to feel good and so I did more...I ended a long complicated, disempowering relationship and found bandwidth to heal other relationships including the one I had with the scared and lonely child I once was. I forgave my parents and myself. I came alive like I'd never been and found my voice and the strength that comes from that and I just let it build and stack and one day I realized I could hold nothing but love for longer than a few minutes and so I stopped trying to be sad or angry. I was proud of myself finally. I liked myself finally and I found I was unwilling to entertain any reality that didn't make me feel whole and able. Abraham Hicks, Byron Katie, Wayne Dyer, Michael Beckwith, The School of Life, Lewis Howes, Impact Theory, Lisa Nichols, Nick Vujicic and 80% of Joe Rogan's content are some of my personal favorites. Blessings to you my love. I wish you every happiness 💞

    Meaning and interpretation
    When I feel shame it means I need to learn to be kind and accept myself as I am
    When I feel shame I see it as an opportunity to heal parts of myself and listen to my needs and challenge negative things and remember that I am worthy I am deserving
    Am I really ugly ? Does that make me a less human being ? Why do I lie to myself ?
    I am prepared for the challenge
    Have good conversation with yourself
    Children sometimes think getting sick gets them more attention from their parents
