It’s fascinating that so many brilliant actors seemed to get into it through almost complete happenstance. I can’t believe she’s 75!!! That’s wild. She looks early 50’s at most
I’ve met her in person and she was so kind yet fabulous. I asked to get a picture & she said: of course, I would be honored . LIKE WHAT! I love her, very personable
Her natural aire of authenticity really bleeds through in to her performances. Her roles always feel so real, human... even the 'good' characters were always lightly flawed. What a presence.
The ending of Thelma and Louise was so beautiful, it’s wild to think she really created some of the most beautiful parts of the movie. The beauty in that movie is it’s realism
I wish this had been longer. There are so many more Susan Sarandon films I want her to discuss, like Bull Durham and Atlantic City. And also, I think Thelma & Louise is one of the best movies ever made. That finale gets me every time.
I said the same thing. And definitely add "Pretty Baby", which was a crazy shoot and a great movie. "The Hunger" with David Bowie. I never saw "The Banger Sisters" but I'd love to hear about the making of it. But man oh man, "Atlantic City"......with Burt Freaking Lancaster, how could that NOT make this interview?
Her "oh, my" at the end of Kevin Costner's rant had so much in those two words. Awe, respect, amazement, ecstasy of spiritual and lustful natures. THAT is acting.
I find Susan Sarandon completely fascinating. She thinks deeply about things and clearly makes up her own mind without being pushed one way or the other by people. I would love to just sit and have a conversation with her.
The best Little Women EVER!! The casting of all parts was perfect and Sarandon’s warmth and maternal love infused the whole story, even when she wasn’t in the scene. I don’t understand why they’re still remaking it when this one exists.
Well, the 1994 "Little Women" wasn't the first "Little Women" movie, either. There already had been movies in 1933 and 1949, two British silent movies in 1918 and 1919, a tv special in 1978 and even a Japanese anime series in 1987.
I really liked the most recent version, although the 90s one was the one I grew up with. I think they both have their strengths and there's room for all the adaptations, because they show us something about themselves and the world/time they were made in, even if they don't do anything especially different with the material.

My mom was diagnosed with cancer in 2002 and Stepmom was our favorite movie. We have watched the movie together so many times until her death...20 years later everytime I miss her, I plug my old VCR and watch it all over again!
I absolutely love how frank and intelligent she is. As a child who experienced their parents very messy divorce at a VERY young age, I love the points she brought up while talking about Stepmom and the difficulty of navigating the transition of a step parent into one's life - just got lucky that both of mine were extraordinarily loving people 💕
This could have been 6 hour of Susan talking about the movies and I would have been happy to listen , amazing career and makes me want to revisit some of these movies
What Susan shares about Stepmom gives me an even greater appreciation for that incredibly beautiful movie that I've rewatched countless times since it was first released. ❤ To this day, I can never hear the song Ain't No Mountain High Enough without thinking of that unforgettable scene in the movie!
Ironically I've avoided Stepmom since its release, feeling it was too maudlin. Hearing her talk and getting emotional about it, now I want to see it. 😂
I really adore Susan, she's such a versatile actress. I love how her daughter Eva Amurri appeared in some of her projects, such as her daughter in "The Banger Sisters" and her younger self in "That's my Boy."
I like that she is honest about the industry. Most actors get in because of their connections, other talented people don't stand a chance, others get there sort of accidentally and others will never have the money to develop the skills required (dancing, singing, acting lessons, socializing with the right people), the way contracts can be used to pin people to the job.
Such a class act. As an ex actress myself, the fact that she didn't really try to have this career is maddening. I am glad she found it. We are all better by watching her on screen. 💚
They could've made this video an hour long, and that would've been just fine with me. We have a lot to talk about when it comes to Susan Sarandon and the wonderful career she's had.
She's a goddess of stage and the silver screen !!!! I fell in love with her at 17 when I first saw Rocky Horror at the height of it's popularity, with everyone dressing up and acting in front of the screen, squirting water pistols, etc... and I've loved her MORE with every film she made!!
I love Susan, she's a great actress and human being. I wish they didn't skip Feud in this, It was her best performance imo. She was fenomenal as Bette Davis. As was Jessica Lange as Joan Crawford. They both deserved that Emmy and I'm still pissed that none of them didn't win that year. Both of them gave truly outstanding performances.
Just watched Witches of Eastwick last week and Sarandon totally took my heart in that one with how beautiful she was. She seems so down to earth, sensitive and smart too. Lovely!
I was really hoping that Susan would talk about her Bette Davis in Feud, but she only talked about films so it's understandable. Now. What an AMAZING CAREER SHE HAS!!! So many great movies!
Susan's reaction to "Stepmom" hit me like a truck. I had the first 20 years of my life with my Mom and "Step" Mom before my biological Mom passed away. I watched "Stepmom" as a kid and remember being amused by the moms feuding, but then of course I was able to appreciate the film on a whole other level after my Mom passed. Now I'm 35 and it's still one my and my "step" Mom's favorite movies.
I'm so glad that Stepmom has the most replays. It's my all-time favorite film and it is such a classic to me. The fact that she has not aged since then is tremendously amazing!
Stepmom will always be one of her most and best well known movies I feel. It’s such a touching and powerful movie it has such a warm feeling the whole movie, It will always be one of my favorite all time movies her and Julia Roberts will always be iconic acting together❤️
Whenever i think of Susan Sarandon i will always associate her with Thelma and Louise. It's such an iconic movie and it's become one of my all-time favorites.
THANK YOU for including Stepmom. I cannot begin to explain what this movie means to me after having lost my mom at the age of 30 (pretty late in comparison, but still). And the fact that she is moved to this day by the story. Her talking about it was everything I had hoped it would be.
What an absolutely delightful interview. Susan Sarandon seems like such an kind, gentle-natured, intelligent, caring, warm and funny woman, who despite all of her successes, has remained incredibly humble. She's such a beautiful actress and each role she plays is always so well thought out and executed brilliantly.
I watched a lot of her films on HBO when I was young, and they all left a great impression on my memory. Her acting is so great, she's really a good actor.
I was moved to tears when she explained her process for StepMom, as she welled up with tears. This movie resonated with me, not because me or my Stepdaughter's Mom were terminally ill, but because of the early struggles we went through. I met my Stepdaughter when she was 3, she is now 30 with a child of her own. Her Mom and I get along so well now, we compliment each other (she is my Daughter's StepMom, as when my marriage dissolved. They got back together). It took years, lots of upside and downs & disconnects. But we are a true family, she is a surrogate StepMom to my Son (different Dad), and I consider her other children as my Step children. As we say our Family is "7 kids, 4 Dad's & 3 Mom's" it blows some people's minds. But this movie when I first saw it taught me so very much about how to become one family, united. Thank you for that
The scene in Step Mom with Julia and Susan talking about their fears after she's gone broke me. Like...actually broke me. I can't think about it without crying.
Susan Sarandon spoke throughout this interview with more personal conviction and penetrating insight than any of the other actors I’ve seen in this series. This was a masterclass in seizing the moment and treating it with dignity.
There's so much more to talk about. Susan deserves a Part 2 for this. Maybe even a Part 3. They've barely scratched the surface of her iconic filmography.

She looks every bit of 75. Maybe you live around a coal mine or something...
@@ShainAndrews You have a very skewed idea of what a 75yr old looks like, Sarandon looks 60 at best, great skin that she clearly takes good care of.
