I just googled the actors on this show and found out Fester was played by Jackie Coogan. He was the original child actor and first starred in the silent film 'The Kid' alongside Charlie Chaplin as the KID. This show has so many household names for it's time. I wish it would get syndicated and rerun on cable TV.
Interestingly, there was a law called California Child Actor's Bill (also known as Coogan Act or Coogan Bill) which came about in 1939 when Jackie Coogan, a very famous child actor at the time, had millions of dollars stolen by his mother and stepfather. The law was designed to safeguard a portion of the child actors earnings for when they reach the age of majority, and protect them from exploitation and abuse. Absolutely love The (original) Addams Family.

Such a wholesome family of good-natured, generous people. A nice family.
*Gomez is so adorable, I named a kitty Gomez after him, and he definitely fits his name*
it's incredible how well this show holds up
And the laugh track was not too obnoxious.
Cops: "We're on a manhunt"
Gomez: "Good night for it"
Such marvelous lines they had.
The Addams can be weird but on the upside, they're friendly, good-natured, not the least bit racist or prejudice, and always wanting to be kind and helpful to everyone, even if their type of kindness may not work out for everyone.
Not racist? Prove it...not many african americans on the show...ever
@@howler6490 Times were different then, the show took place during the late 50s or 60s, black people weren't shown on TV as much then. You gonna blame the Addams for that?
@@theamericanshepherd5378 Yes. I would. Others included black actors long before the Addams Family.
@@apocalypsed Yeah show with bigger budgets or longer runs (the show only lasted 2 seasons which was a shame). I do appreciate you saying others and not ALL cause that would have been a lie.
@@bloglazer9410 Two seasons with 60 episodes, 30 per season. If they wanted to, they would have.
"They aren’t seeking very hard"
Morticia had me with that..
I'm surprised to see Don Rickles in this. May he rest in peace.
I always say this!! Gomez & Morticia are attractive!! Something about Gomez thats sooo charming ❤ & Mortitia's beauty is one of a kind ❤❤
My favorite romance and family!!!!
Too bad they don't so the full introduction with Gomez leering into the camera with that diabolical grin.
The children are cute too.
I am 66 now and have always had a "crush" on Carolyn Jones. Check out some of her earlier work in movies. She co-stared with Frank Sinatra in a few of them. She is hot.... hot..... hot..
The way she talks makes me fall in love with her. The tone the words shhh Querida mia
Each time Thing did something helpful, I just had to say “Thank you, Thing!”
Like Wednesday does.... she’s so cute
Me too, i just realised watching this episode that i always do it I just never noticed. Nice to know i'm not alone.
I love it when Morticia tells Lurch to place a guest in "the good chair." I fall apart laughing when Lurch "takes" a guest's hat.
My favourite TV-series from the USA in the 60s! What nostalgic vibes! Morticia is so beautiful!
The Addams Family may be weird and spooky to some people, but they're really funny and likeable to everyone. ;D
This was one show that I loved the most when I was a kid. Still love it. Miss my old days.
"They were sent up the river!"
Always gets me when Gomez says that and Morticia immediately just says "Good...they needed a vacation!" XD
Crazy that John Astin outlived the whole cast. He is the only one left alive.
Gomez also admitting that Morticia's ex was handsome was cute asf.
Bisexual icon
@@garmadonsrightarms4434 Gomez and Morticia both seem like bi icons
They support each other through their past and present unlike typical sitcom/movie couples who belittle other Exes and past
@@singulartrout True
nope
A party at the Addams family home should be fun. But I’d bring my own food and beverage for sure.
Same here!
Me, too!
I would love to attend a Halloween party at the Addams's home! I would definitely share my own Halloween poem with them!
It would be polite if you brought your own knife too in case there's a chance of a game of Autopsy.
No! Their food is a part of the fun
Nostalgia... And to think the Addams family house was actually entirely pink to render well in black and white (btw loved the hommage made in the animated movie towards the end with that pink house makeover hahaha)
A weird and disturbing family, but who love each other more than any other sitcom and are very welcoming of others regardless. I love seeing the videos on why Gomez and tish have the best on screen relationship of any couple.
Morticia is absolutely stunning….I wish more families were like the Adams, they are great people 🖤☺️
I miss this. This was on when I was a kid (in the 90's and early 2000's, believe it or not) and my whole family loved it.
It is on now on Pluto tv now on a 24 hour Addams Family channel
I was watching it when I was a kid, in the 60's!
darkkitty645 Same, my sister and I use to watch this over at our grandparents how.

@@jazzcatt Same here. I always thought the visitors were dumb to be so scared; if I ever went there, I'd love it! Maybe that's why I'm still a little weird. LOL
I love how uncle Fester was so happy when he said "I just love Halloween"😂❤ pure
the Adams are too nice to know that they are being robbed
Kindness starts at home. The Adams show this constantly.
No one needs to be like minded, just kind minded.
🖤
Such a tripped out show. Best characters for it all. Perfect. Love every minute of these guys. Thanks. Great.
I like how Gomez just sticks a lit match into his pocket at 10:42, that’s priceless-
The props department actually lined Gomez’s pockets with asbestos, that flame-retardant material always there to put out the match’s fire.
@@ullgeologist That’s amazing.
Just realized how much the Addams interior decor affected my own taste.
You paint your walls pink and yellow as well?
The first gothic couple on T.v
I used to have two peacock chairs, they were on my front porch and someone stole them
18:25 “‘Try it again!?!’ I would rather wrestle a lion!”
“Oh, would you? Wonderful. Kitty! Here, Kitty!”
I laughed so darn hard I fell on the floor!
Yeah, the Addams' had the lion, and the Munsters had a black cat that sounded like a lion. And Spot the dragon who lived under the stairs. Memories. (Jan Griffiths).
Future?
I know this for a fact, Halloween is never complete without the Addams family.🖤💜🧡🎃🦇🦂🐦⬛🕸️🕷️
I met John Astin at his home in Santa Monica CA and he was so nice and a gracious host.
Uncle Fester smiling is me at every school picture day....😂
I just googled the actors on this show and found out Fester was played by Jackie Coogan. He was the original child actor and first starred in the silent film 'The Kid' alongside Charlie Chaplin as the KID. This show has so many household names for it's time. I wish it would get syndicated and rerun on cable TV.
rocknroller1986 holy cow, no way...
That kid looks so tiny and cute in chaplin
Pluto TV app used to have bingwatching of the Adams family
Opps still dose!
RIP Don Rickles... we are much sadder without you
As the years pass, people could learn a lot from the Adams. Especially on how to treat eachother
If I’m being honest here I like the black and white Addams family better then the colour Addams family
Edit:Thanks for 14 likes
Agreed. Adds to the kookiness.
It adds something to the show I can’t put my finger on it
@@nightisright1873 Shadows are always spookier in black & white.
Definitely
Agreed!🥳🤩🥺
I gotta say - this is extremely good marketing for the new Addams movie. Glad that MGM dared to use new marketing tactics.
When we're together darling, every night is Halloween...BOOM...ahhh the punch is ready!
Helga Way to go Thing at 13:58! That bad guy didn’t even notice his pockets had been picked.
Now that was a kind of punch that could really pack a *punch*! XD
It's Halloween today !
watch this every week
I wore my Halloween t-shirt that day and my dad made a similar comment about everyday is Halloween to him! Mostly the shirt reminded him of all the strangely dressed people that shop at Wal-Mart everyday!
After all these years, I'm still laughing at their antics. Programs today have more swearing then entertainment. It's takes creativity to make program like these!
I love that they're so wrapped up in each other, it takes an explosion to snap them out of it. 🥰
MGM, thank you for posting these episodes online, it's brilliant to see good quality television viewing even if it's from 55 years ago, it still holds up and is as funny and entertaining as ever.
This is one of my favorite shows of the 60’s.
Gomez is so generous and genuine and energetic all the time 🥺 i need a Gomez in my life
"Poor kitty is just terrified of ppl!" Can you imagine cleaning his litter box?😂
One episode of this TV series, is better than all the ' newer movies' put together.
I didn’t’t watch this show back then. But now I love them. Thanks for showing them again on RUclips.
Gomez is such a great husband and father and also an amazing guy❤️
