We have a 2009 Lexus RX 350 that we recently bought and it has a cracked dash, of course, and we bought a DashSkin brand dash cover for it. We will be installing it some time next week, probably (need to have at least half a day when we don't need the car so the silicone can cure). So we have been watching plenty of videos for tips and pointers, since some people recommend NOT following the directions precisely (such as using extra silicone, adding silicone in different/more places than the instructions call for, tips for weighting in certain "problem" areas, and so on). Thanks for the video. Even though your dash skin is a different brand, it looks almost identical to the one we got from DashSkin.
I guess that an outside company made this crappy dashboard? I can’t believe that Lexus gives no compensation for this problem, especially with how much money they’ve made off of selling this Camry based car at twice it’s price!
So, if your dash has a bunch of cracks in it right around the passenger side airbag and the airbag goes off, won't small pieces of sharp dashboard possibly be propelled into the face of a passenger? Why shouldn't this be a safely recall??
It was and they actually extended it two more years. Sadly for us, we bought our 2009 the same week the extended recall ran out and Lexus nor the dealership we bought it from would cover it when it fell apart a month after our purchase.
Just bought my wife as used 2009 Rx 350! Came up with your channel and this explains the long cracked dash! How is this kit holding up after a year under the sun?
I actually installed the CoverLay version, with the airbag cover, in my Moms 2007 RX350 for her 2021 Xmas present. After seeing your video, I am very pleased I spent the extra 200 bucks for it. I watched their video and one other, followed their directions to a T, although I was tempted to get more silicone. I used the cardboard blocks from their shipping box to stuff around the top, and stuffed cardboard on the ends like you did. It turned out looking spectacular. Everyone, (including me) was stunned it looked so good. If I had not installed it, I would have thought she got a new dash at the dealer for 2K! The fit in the tight spaces was slightly better than your brand, and it looks like a factory dash, with the airbag cover. I thought about leaving it off for safety, but the hole is an eyesore. No comparison. I would have paid an extra 400 if I had know it would look that good.
Hi, Where did you buy yours and exactly what is name/ brand etc do I look for. My sis had a dog crate on her lap not realizing it was hitting my dash board and destroyed my dash board in the front . It looks so terrible every time I get in car it upsets me. All the foam is showing cause big pieces from dash just cracked off now.😢 I have a 2007 RX 350 also . Thank you!
I am after a plastic dashboard cover for a friend's Lexus RX350 , year 2006 - sandalwood colour (looks dark beige too me :) ) - with a central speaker and the airbag on the right. I've gone through AMAZON but only some soft "carpets" there and cheap like 30 bucks. Can anyone help please ? Many thanks ! Or any contact to someone who trades these ?
Airbag cover is huge for me. Big empty hole with visible cracks dominates the dash visual. Rather deal with flying rounded cornered cover in crash. Went with Coverlay with airbag cover. About 3x cost of Dashskin. Excellent fit and quality.
Pro tip. LOTS of painters tape for the lower parts. Three $4 bags of play sand put in garbage bags in case they leak to lay across the top. Wash cloths between the gap at the windshield. Then your can even get a $50 suede dash cover on top from Dash Designs to make it even nicer after. Or use it instead by itself! Almost perfect. You're welcome!
I bought a used Maxima several years ago and it had a DashMat as a protectant of the dashboard already included. I had never had one before but it is basically a carpet that fits your dashboard area. I liked it so much as it reduced the glare on the windshield from the sun, It doesn't get dusty looking and when cleaning, it gets vacuumed at the car wash. It's also much less expensive and much easier to install. I live in Las Vegas so you know the sun is tough in the desert. When I bought my 2007 Lexus, I bought a DashMat first thing on the list.
@@CollinsOkengwu I suggest you can do to their website and contact them about your inquiry. It’s CoverLay. I think you might responsible for the shipping fee. Good luck
Why don't you put the glue on the dash then pop on the new on top
Anyone know of a Right Hand Drive version...how could Lexus make such a great car tech wise and let it down with a dash plastic choice!

You missed to mention the most important thing whivh is what brand you used, where did youbgot it from?
Why didn’t you go to a junkyard and buy a used one ??
That’s a really terrible idea !!

The 2010 Lexus RX fixed the troublesome dash pad

Thanks for the input and the update, I might have to try that cover and let you know how it goes!!
Please send me a link where you bought it from

Can I buy this in Nigeria or u ship to me? Lexus es 350 2007

I would go with the CoverLay Brand. Made in TX. Better Quality.
Thanks, Should have went with the USA brand first!
How do I purchase this particular CoverLay brand you just recommended and get it shipped to Nigeria?

Do they make one for a rhd vehicle?
does any know if anyone does a cover for a rhd car
i don't have a Lexus but useful though
Where did you find it?
Big improvement.
How's it holding up? Coverlay brand would probably fit better
Its holding up fine, but i really want to replace the dash. I don't trust the location of this one with an airbag in a crash.
