I work for Lexus. I used to manage the loaner fleet, but now I drive and manage a group of drivers who pick up guest vehicles for service and return them. I get to drive all models and years of vehicles. One guest who had an ‘06 RX400h (hybrid) had 270k miles on the vehicle. I arrived with a 2014 RX450h (this was a few years ago; loaner vehicles are seldom more than 1 model year old) and the guest had the opportunity to drive the newer vehicle while hers was being serviced.
When the service on her vehicle was finished I returned her car to her. When I arrived, I asked what she thought of the newer version. “It’s really nice. I’d love to get one but THIS ONE (her 400h) JUST WON’T DIE!’
And so it goes. If you take decent care of these vehicles, you will, as I tell many of our guests, have the car for as long as YOU want it.

Idk about that, if maintenance history has been documented and taken care of then yeah I'd agree they have a ton of life left but any negligence in maintaining the car and def going to cause yourself some problems. I have only owned lexus since buying my first one because of how incredibly solid the engineering is in every one of their cars. Even the ES300 built to last. It's a car you only want to repair/maintain with OEM lexus parts, which are comparable to part prices of most cars respectably but reason being is because the parts last for such a long time and also preserves the integrity Lexus's are well known for. If you havent owned a Lexus in your driving career make it your next ride and I almost guarantee it will be the only brand car you continue to buy from then on. Just do your homework and be patient through out the searching/buying process. Find one you know has been maintained and driven like an adult.

No wonder it remains one of the most desirable used SUV out there to this date... great daily driver overall.. highly reliable.. strong and composed engine.. fit and finish of the materials inside and out are excellent.. these cars go well over 200k with regular preventive maintenance such as oil change.. if you see one in a great price around $8k - $12k with just a ticked over 100k miles these days - GET IT!.. agreed. The engine sound on the 3.5 is very niice. Definitely understated (by others). Additionally, because it's 1,000lbs lighter than a Porsche Cayenne, a 2007-09 RX will completely smoke an early base Cayenne (with the 3.2 liter). And quite possibly take the 2008/2009 3.6 liter

Hey been doing reviews of older SUV with 4WD or AWD for my daughter and have test driven the 2007, 2008, and 2009 Lexus RX 350, after I did that, no other SUV in that age range and price could even come close! Acura RDX and MDX nice but too boxy, and definitely a level below the Lexus RX 350! I'm looking for reliability and this model is # 1 in so many reviews! So it's #1 in reliability but it also provides a nice quiet ride and it's luxurious. It's a joy to drive! Thanks for the excellent review. BTW the engine on these RX 350's is still used by Toyota on several of their top tier cars! I'll let you look that up. We have a Toyota Sienna, hint, and it uses the same engine! Our Toyota Sienna has 333,000 miles on it with the original transmission and engine!

i just bought an '08 rx350 back in march. it only had 110k on the odometer, and all local dealer maintenance records! everything was recorded. it's also black, with brown interior (which i don't care for, but look at the total package), and aside from a few scratches, is in really good shape!
i've been driving lincoln town cars since '05, and the first one (an '02) was awesome! best car i ever had! the second one (05 - w/48k on it), not so much. i bought that about 3 years ago having worn out my first one. i'm a salesguy that destroys cars! that the first one lasted so long was pretty impressive! one year a put 40k miles on a car! i could see the kwality direction ford was going, so i opted to shop for a used lexus.
so far this thing has been great! as a salesguy, i've rented a metric ton of cars. i see all this radar, backup screen bullshit, and i'm like: this volvo is a great car that could go a long time, but when all this little stuff starts breaking, i'm screwed! what i like about the lexus is that all of it is simple. no electronic crap to break. all simple and reliable. you didn't mention that the mirrors helpfully aim down when you back up. that's new.
it also has all wheel drive capability, and i live in the pacific northwest, so we sometimes get ice storms here. this certainly helps. i saw the one you drive is so equipped. i'm not going to go rock crawling with this, but that should be useful, although i've not had the opportunity to try it out. i also like to go to rural areas to do some plinking in dirt roads, and will have no problem taking it there for that purpose.
i tend to let others pay the "new car tax" and then drive a slightly used car for 10+ years. i just wear them out. i also ride an ebike for local stuff. i'm 58, and this may well be my last car, since i don't drive as much as i used to.

Kevin, my first experience owning/leasing a Lexus vehicle was a 2007 RX350. It was for the same reason you noted that I pulled the trigger on it after Lexus introduced the 3.5 liter engine to replace the 3.3 liter. It had very good get up and go! I was in heaven driving that car for four years! When my lease ended, I got into a 2010 Lexus RX350 and my sister-in-law went ahead and bought the 2007 RX with the agreed upon price that they set at the end of a leased vehicle. She drove it another 5 years and I'm still driving my 2010 RX ten years later. Fit and finish is really incredible! Other than wear and tear on the leather seats and foggy headlights, every control still works and my '10 RX still drives like new! Very impressed by Lexus vehicles! Oh, and after trading in her RX on a Lincoln MKX and driving that for four years, my sister-in-law is back in a 2017 RX350 F-Sport! LOL!

These are fantastic cars, my husband and I bought one with 85k miles. We had to get a few things repaired such as the struts and an axle in the back. Thankfully warranty covered it! 🙏 One thing to keep in mind, REPLACE THE OIL COOLER AND VVTI LINES! The originals are rubber, they have a high failure rate on 3.5s in RX, RAV4, Highlander, Sienna, and the Avalon. Some of the earlier ES and Camrys with the engine had this issue too, but not as many.

There are Audis and then there are Audis. If you stick with the lower end models that are built a bit simpler, then they last a long time. Where Audi gets into trouble is the same place BMW and Mercedes get into trouble: too much bleeding edge tech. Their higher-end cars are overly complicated with far too many expensive failure points. BMW in particular seems to have decided to build cars to lease, not own.

We have 5 high mileage Ford F150s with the 3.5 EcoBoost V6 motor and they all run great despite long idling and being driven hard by various employees. They're averaging right around 215,000 kms and show no signs of giving up. All have original engines, turbos and transmissions. The key to their longevity is changing the oil more frequent than what the manual calls for (we change every 7,000kms) and coolant flushes every 50,000kms. Keeps the turbos cool and lubricated which would be the biggest concerns.

I currently have a 2008 RX-350 with 190,000 miles and recently changed out all the struts, springs, strut mounts and sway bar links. I decided to do so because it still drives like a dream and has no leaks. The only repair I have ever done on it over 130,000 miles, I bought it used with 60K, is the alternator. I was in the market for a 2015-2016 RX but when the pandemic hit, I hit the pause button and decided to leave well enough alone. It is driving really well now with the suspension pieces and I will try to squeeze out another 100k before I get rid of it. By the way, my 2002 Camry was left in Texas with my dad and it now has 315k miles on it. I am a Toyota guy and made the mistake of buying a BMW once, it was the worst mistake of my life. THE CONSOLE SLIDES FORWARDS AND BACK!!! That's a shame that you missed that feature because it's something that I use quite often whenever I need to access the 12V outlet on the floor right there.

I'm in the market for a vehicle and came across an 07 RX350 for sale and your video review helped me decide to try and make a deal for it. Thanks for the time you spent to explain the plethora of details thoroughly to the best of your ability. You do a FANTASTIC JOB and we appreciate it. 🙂 The word PLETHORA made my day. 😄

My wife’s 08 RX350 AWD has around 140K miles on her and it still runs/shifts like a dream. Besides water pump and front wheel bearings replacement, all it needs is oil change and transmission fluid drain/refill every 30k miles. I ask if she wants to trade up for a 2018-19 NX300 F sport and she declines. The RX will most likely goes to my son when he drives in 3 years and she will take my 17 ES350. Then I will be looking for 2020 model year LC500. BTW, my RX is running on Michelin Latitude Tours and they are one of the quietest tires out there.

Solid tire recommendation and Lexus might be one of the few cars that can get passed around like that haha. That is awesome wonderful vehicles you guys have let me know when you scoop up that LC sir!

Have an 08 with 150k. Went through 2 water pumps. Tough job. Definitely its achilles heel. Still runs great. Solid vehicle.

Very thorough review! My brother-in-law is selling his mother's 2007 RX350 for $9,000. It's only got 91,000 miles on it. I'm very tempted. But I've been a Honda guy all my life. I currently drive a 2005 CR-V with over 222,000 miles. Still runs great. But one day it won't. I have a decision to make.

Another great review. Seems to perform as well as a car with less than half the mileage it actually has. Rock solid interior, smooth drive train and not a spot of rust in sight. Another triumph for Lexus engineering.

That noise is the tires. 99% sure of it. Wife's 2008 RX had the same annoying issue. Cleared up with new set of Michelins. Great, reliable, solid car. Ours has 140k miles on the clock.

Couple of months ago I bought a 2005 Lexus RX 330 with 170,000 miles (Made in Japan). Not that it needed it but I went ahead and replace the timing belt, timing belt tensioner , waterpump, camshaft seals, spark plugs, valve cover gasket, and spark plug tube seals, replace transmission pan and gasket. Next, i performed a radiator flush and transmission flush. Again, not that it needs it but I’m going to replace both CV joint axles. After all said and done it should last at least until 300,000 miles with good maintenance and oil changes. I know Lexus has the Toyota V6 motors in them. Those things are bulletproof.

Yes, mine is 234, 420 miles right now on RX300, 2000 model. No problem so far except for wear tear on other parts that you need to replace. I’m the only one who is fixing and touching this car. So far, so good and still using it.
