There is one of these that served as an NYC taxi and was still running fine with several hundred thousand miles. Hand-me-down early RXs were the rich girl cars at my high school. This is one of the last great Lexuses where you can feel that quality over all design philosophy.

I do like it. Ordering aftermarket replacement parts is difficult. Amazon has not been my friend in this endeavor, lol. So far I am happy as I drive in the snow. The RX 350 really saved me as I got stuck. With a some pushing and my wife at the wheel I got un stuck. We had personal reasons to be on the road that day. Very important business. In all im happy. I have a 2013 ford Edge 3.5 that I’m happy with as well.
Cars are different now. I don’t like the direction things are going. I have a few cars and I wrench on them myself. My intention is to make them last is long as possible

I drive one of these! It has 187k miles and cost 7k during the height of the car shortages the past couple of years. The front differential is leaky, the power steering rack is leaky, the moon roof doesn't open anymore, and it will probably need new wheel bearings and rear struts at some point in the future. You would never know any of this while driving it though. It's a little beat up but it's still running great with a very strong engine. She's a real trooper!

It’s easy to replace the sunroof motor. Four screws hood the light fixture on. Then a bolt or two for the guard under it. Then you can pull the motor. Mine ate the gears unfortunately but the motor was fine. I couldn’t figure out a way to easily repair it, so I got a whole nother sunroof. Removing it isn’t bad except all the headliner stuff takes time. Like 8 bolts or so hold it on. If it’s just the motor, do like I suggested and remove the light to access it. While you have that apart, put some thick white lithium grease on it, and it’ll be good.

This my favorite generation of the Lexus RX suv. And the one in the video has the best wheel choice, I love it. This vehicle in silver, mmm mmm so nice. I used to have a Mazda MPV 4x4 van and around the time that i got the mileage up to 220k miles I got lazy and never checked the engine oil and always ran it low on oil. Made it to 257k miles and it spun a bearing and I had to let it go. It shifted gears like a Mercedes Benz and shifted buttery smooth. That motor though was neglected by me, bet it would still be around.

I'm pleasantly surprised that the key hasn't broken after all these years. Lexus models of this era that used traditional keys (this, the LX and GX) had an issue where the key would break off from the fob, or the key fob would break and you'd have to use the keyholes every time you wanted to open the doors. Many people either just used the spare key or got a new keyfob.

Yeah, i got an 08 awd one, had it since '16..has 215,000 on it but to buy a new car just seems counter-intuitive. I did just spend 5k on suspension and steering parts, but upgraded the struts and sway bars to help eliminate the body roll. It still rips when i need it to, and is as comfy as ever. I do recommend these as a good used car that only needs minor maintenance. I know i will hafta replace things as it ages, but it's still less expensive than new car payments. And yes, i did, and recommend replacing the oil cooler line as well!

The RX is kind of a paradox; you can tell on the inside that it's clearly a Toyota, yet everything looks and feels much nicer than a Mercedes-Benz from the same era. It also looks like an armadillo, but that's cool with me. The RX400h from this generation was one of the first hybrids I ever drove and it really spoiled me. Few other hybrid drivetrains are as smooth or quiet, including most brand new 2023 vehicles.

I was surprised to find that this car feels small on the inside. Smaller than the 2nd Gen CRV. I’m not particularly tall, but my head feels close to the ceiling with the seat bottomed out. Also the sloped hatch really cramps the trunk storage space. The CRV on the other hand can carry much more. It’s built like a tank though, and is nice and quiet for longer road trips. Just not the space for all your stuff.
Around town, slow drives to school dropoffs and the grocery store, I see around 13 mpg. All highway about 22-25, and a mix of around 17mpg.
Another odd thing I’ve noticed about Toyota/Lexus…it’s easy for rear passengers to get car sick, so you have to drive real smooth to avoid that. Not just the RX, but other T/L vehicles as well.

This is a well taken care Lexus for that much miles... I have basically the same one.. the RX330 year 2004 with only 160K miles. My body and inside look far worst then this one that has more than double my Miles and used...

Should I buy one of these for at 100k miles and what maintenance should I expect at that mileage. I haven’t found a particular one to buy yet but just considering in general

Replace the VVTI Oil Line and the Oil Cooler Line w/ all metal if it still has the rubber lines. Catastrophic failure if they leak. Also steering racks are bad on this car. They will leak if not already.

Mine will be hitting 300k next week. It is 2008 Lexus rx400h still running and looking great. Nobody believes when I say it is 2008 with almost 300k. Only issue came up recently is the clunking noise from the break due to to ABS module 9ther than that it is still like a single mom, I wouldn't say vargin 😂😁

Can someone please confirm if the Bluetooth feature on this second gen RX350 allows you to play music from your phone through your car speakers like the newer model vehicles do? Please let me know. Thanks, Tony

It does not, BUT you can run an aux cord into the cassette player with an old adapter that was common in the era of portable CD players!

This sucks. I have a low mileage LS-430 that I love. Till Google fiber backed one of their trucks into it and caused 9k in damages. I can't find another low mileage one like more for less than 13-14k. Been looking at Lexus SUVs, looked at a 2015 RX-350 today, not bad, but bumpy ride. My LS is a rear cruiser, handles bumps like a dream. I need to test drive a GX or LX (if I can find one that isn't crazy $) i hope the GX has a smoother ride than a RX.
