Overall the LS460 is a terrific car, I own an 08 with 162k miles. While agreed on all the positives, potential buyers should still be aware of the issues you mention, and that fixes/parts for this car are MUCH higher than a typical vehicle. My advice to purchase high mileage is to make sure previous owner has recently swapped control arms, engine mounts, and brake actuator. Other items will fail over time but these are the well known and high priced items.
I used to have a white 1992 Lexus LS400, bought it with 125,000 miles on it, and later sold it with 250,000 miles, and it was still like new, reliable and dependable and not so expensive to maintain at my local Lexus main dealer who were 5 stars out of 5 fantastic. Highly recommended as a used car purchase.

Hard agree! I am the happy, happy owner of a 2008 ES -- MIJ. I got it in 2018 with just over 100k miles for just under $10k. Years and years and miles and miles of carefree, smooth, quiet driving. Outside of regular fluid changes, I've only had to replace the battery and put new pads and rotors on it at 150k (and that cost under $1k). Lexus is best!

Those 4-cylinder Camry's of the same era all had piston ring failure and would consume oil like crazy. Toyota had to rebuild the engine on mine and now it doesn't use a drop of oil. V8 BMW turbo? run, Audi 4.2 V8 with rear timing chain? terrify, friggen Lexus LS? cmon, if you can't do anything yourself, time to lease a Nissan Rogue I guess. I think its one of the only big Sedans you can even take a chance on, 7 series\S Class\A8, serious problems can happen, not like, ahem, 2 bolt control arm, people are so dramatic in your comments! (looking to import a 460 from Japan, 600HL are same price, but I fear the battery pack, don't want a CVT, but would like 4wd, yesss)
I want to buy this car but there's so much conflicting info online about it. the potential repairs aren't cheap either. I wish someone could do a video together that's realistic about the car reliability wise. On one side you have guys like this singing its praises and on the other side guys saying stay far away.
I bought my 2011 460L with 100,000 mi on it a year ago. I researched and read about the things that may arise. I did replace all of the control arms. This car is truly phenomenal and we couldn't be happier with a big luxury car. We look forward to the road trips in it; I have no doubt this car is way better built than any newer one I could buy today. I could not be happier. So I would recommend that you buy one. The things that may need replacing are going to be very few and far between.
I was also looking into purchasing a used LS460, they are beautiful cars, however, when problems do arise, they are very expensive to repair. For great information from a Lexus/Toyota master mechanic, check out The Car Care Nut channel on youtube. He has some great information on these cars. Take care.👍
I bought one a few years back. They are not as reliable as you’re claiming. The cost of ownership is very expensive. The best sub 10k luxury cars are the Mercedes W211 and Volvo P3 S80.
Nope you might argue that you would have the correct answer if the car was one year older. 2007 had many issues that the previous generation did not. Expensive as hell to fix too. Best $10K car is a 2015-2017 Camry ir a 2001-2006 LS 430.
Good Lord! This monster gets to 60mph in the mid fives?! First off, that's not bad for a sports car back in the late eighties and early nineties Not to mention this is being performed by a large and heavy four door sedan
I had a pretty funny encounter with a newer challenger RT with the 5.7 who floored it when he was to the side of me but a couple cars back. When we got next to me I floored it and pulled on him pretty hard with him having a head start. Made me laugh pretty hard because who would ever expect this thing to even be slightly quick
Toyota put all the new technology into the Lexus models first, then after 5-7 years it trickles down into the Toyota models. I've seen this time and again. Examples include heads up display, blind spot monitor warning, and so many other technologies.
Bang for your buck **if** you have LOTS of bucks to refresh/repair down-range. These aren't perfect vehicles and they do have expensive known problems - particularly as they gain miles and age...
The Lexus LS 460 is a beautiful looking luxury car, however, it is not as reliable as other Lexus models, and is very expensive to repair. See link: ruclips.net/video/UAb4gLA26nY/видео.html

@@PerformanceOnWheels I was fortunate enough to pick one up from an older retired gentleman out in Tucson Arizona. He had it all sorted out and looking/running perfect. It's got 110k miles and 1k idle time. Amazing car and power. Only thing missing is the G8 center console and it will be perfect. Best 10k I've ever spent
Actually for $10,000 I think it’s absolutely silly. Save yourself the headache because the LS 430 is a superior vehicle. I’ve owned both the luxury ultra luxury LS 430 and I’ve owned the executive package LS 460 in the LS 460 required 10 times the maintenance from shocks to CB boots breaking all of thatI now own the 2001 LS 430 and it’s a better vehicle all around also less maintenance and you can get that vehicle for about $1500 versus this one. They’re probably the cheapest I’ve seen is about 25 $3500 but again the maintenance is higher way higher.
10k.... WHAT?! I could swap out my entire suspension every single component for under $2,000 in parts and a day of labor. However under no circumstance other than a total loss accident would all of those components ever fail at once.
@@PerformanceOnWheels no it doesn't. As long as you do your scheduled maintenance, don't skip oil changes etc then it's no different.
Does it have blind spot monitoring?
Mine in particular does not. I’m unaware if it was an option on others
I want to buy this car but there's so much conflicting info online about it. the potential repairs aren't cheap either. I wish someone could do a video together that's realistic about the car reliability wise. On one side you have guys like this singing its praises and on the other side guys saying stay far away.
If you don't know how to work on cars yourself I would not buy one. If you do for the rare occasions that something fails I would buy one.
Take care.👍
Cool channel, nice video!
We appreciate the support! Glad you liked it :)
2:09, less than 2,000RPM at 120kph, that's impressive.
That’s how it manages to hit that 25MPG on the highway. Super impressive
Is the 2008 from the same generation as the 2007?
Yes
Both of the front struts have a tendency to break down quite often. That's probably the only one big flaw that it has.
I bought a 2016 with 100k on it.. non air suspension, I hope it brings me good luck
I’ve had no issues at all with mine :)
For this budget, would a 430 or 460 be better?
430 is rated to be more reliable. 460 has more features. It is ultimately up to you!
I’m impressed 🎉
I bought one a few years back. They are not as reliable as you’re claiming. The cost of ownership is very expensive. The best sub 10k luxury cars are the Mercedes W211 and Volvo P3 S80.
Great video!
We appreciate the support! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
First off, that's not bad for a sports car back in the late eighties and early nineties
Not to mention this is being performed by a large and heavy four door sedan
I had a pretty funny encounter with a newer challenger RT with the 5.7 who floored it when he was to the side of me but a couple cars back. When we got next to me I floored it and pulled on him pretty hard with him having a head start. Made me laugh pretty hard because who would ever expect this thing to even be slightly quick
Magazines always say Lexus is 2nd to BMW....damn lies
It is when it comes to performance and technology that’s for sure. Not Realibity that’s for sure
Insane to pay 90k for that when it was new ..
Toyota put all the new technology into the Lexus models first, then after 5-7 years it trickles down into the Toyota models. I've seen this time and again. Examples include heads up display, blind spot monitor warning, and so many other technologies.
Very true! GM does this as well with Cadillac to GMC to Chevy!
LS made to last forever
For 10,000 shot that's on the cheaper side on Facebook Market place the still be selling some Ls430s for that price
Mileage is relevant to previous owners maintenance and care. Most people are cheap
Bang for your buck **if** you have LOTS of bucks to refresh/repair down-range. These aren't perfect vehicles and they do have expensive known problems - particularly as they gain miles and age...
Yes. especially the 07-09 era. but even the 13s can have some of the same issues like coolant valley leak. For that im prob going w a GS.
Just the premium fuel itself draws me further away from owning one😅
If no turbo regular is fine
@@luisarevalo8394 "Why did my knock sensors go bad 😢"
That car is very expensive to maintain because it's a Lexus
The Lexus LS 460 is a beautiful looking luxury car, however, it is not as reliable as other Lexus models, and is very expensive to repair.
See link: ruclips.net/video/UAb4gLA26nY/видео.html
I disagree. You can get an LS430 for the same price, if not more . That says a lot to me when the older model holds a higher value than the newer one
Wifey the average cost to repair?
All told by many on the Tube, the LS430 is still a lot more reliable than the LS460. What was your experience?
If you on a BUDGET stay away from this car you can’t afford it👍🏿find one that had all the maintenance done All cars have problems after 100 thousand miles on them remember this was 70.000$ car when new so repairs are going to be high! valley plate suspension, and brakes if that’s taking care of you can’t go wrong believe me i have one 2010 AWD no problem’s going on 4 years 131.000 miles best car I ever had👍🏿
It's Beautiful....but sold mine after six months.
My LS400 was a far better car to drive.
Im gonna get dragged but ill still pick My 2012 Chevrolet Caprice over this. 6.0L v8 400whp 🔥
What’s funny is I actually was looking to buy one of those over this Lexus lol. I just could not find one with a even half decent interior that wasn’t destroyed and didn’t have 200k miles for 10 plus grand
That’s awesome!
If it's the best help me repair my abs system. And violently spinning steering wheel. Worse car investment I ever made
Me want
The suspension will cost you 10k..it should be a recall
10k.... WHAT?! I could swap out my entire suspension every single component for under $2,000 in parts and a day of labor. However under no circumstance other than a total loss accident would all of those components ever fail at once.
🤡
Hi guys
Hello there
All LS cars are only made for the upper middle class or above (at least $225Kyr take home)..
No it isnt. The 2016 mercedes c300 4matic is.
That lacks in the reliability department in comparison
@@PerformanceOnWheels no it doesn't. As long as you do your scheduled maintenance, don't skip oil changes etc then it's no different. People wanna treat the german cars like LS motorcars and they're not. They're just as reliable you just neglect them the way we do ours. Ive got a c300 4matic 2017 with 331,000 miles on it and I still drive it to work everyday
The worst Lexus to buy
This car's a MONEY PIT you'll feel sorry you ever purchased it😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I can guarantee you I will not.
Maybe the 2007 and 2008, but definitely not the 2009 and beyond 🤔
@@NicoleSuggs All Lexus LS460s are the same they are money pits you will be sorry if you buy this car.
@Mr921kevin I had my 2010 ls 460 for years(5), I've only had to fic the water pump once, 1,100 or so, to get it done by Lexus
And that was it, no other issues for the years I've had it
I’m a year in and my major problem was an alternator it just depends if you know how to work on a car or not
