Yep. We always buy new Lexus and keep them for a long time. Wife’s 08 RX350 156K miles still going strong, my 17 ES350 just hits 37K miles. Her new NX350H should arrive in about 10 days. Wouldn’t buy any other brand.
@@smakarov24 no that I am aware of. I have 3 Lexuses in our household. A 08 RX350 and a 24 NX350H both built in Japan. My 17 ES350 was built in Kentucky. All of them bought new. I don’t see any built difference in terms of material and built quality.
My son, who is mechanically inclined only buys used Lexi with 50k-75k. He knows what to look for, not wanting an abused car. He has 1 now in the 200k range that he bought with 80k. Mechanicals going strong, but the fru fru stuff starting to age. PHENOMENAL VALUE.
I’m on my second Lexus. Neither has ever needed anything more than oil changes and routine maintenance. Lexus truly takes it to a different level in quality. The only place I would wish they would improve is the paint jobs, but if you constantly maintain the paint, your Lexus will laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast…
Reliability not quality. Interiors are plasticy and scratch easily, the leather too. Also they use some funny parts, my 2010 had a green font digital clock from a 89 camry lmao
Wtf are you talking about. I hope you change the other fluids when the manual suggests. It's not like it doesn't need regular maintenance. Please read the manual to find out when each of the fluids need to be changed and follow that. It will last a lifetime.
@@bryansmith536. Mega high quality. I’ve had 4 Porsche 911’s, 2 Mercedes Benz, a 2010 GT500, and the 2 Lexus models. The Lexus was every bit the high quality the Porsches were and definitely online with the Mercedes Benz as well. Lexus is it’s own division. They may use the same frames, but the extra expenses of higher quality materials are definitely there. I’m hoping they come up with some EJ2-powered twin turbo F models. I’d prefer the smaller engine for better handling and it’s ability to hold up to 1,500 horsepower without needing modifications.
Almost all cars on the road are built to last 150k miles with only fluid changes. 100k isn't much especially for a lexus. Please make sure to read your manual to find out when you have to change each of the fluids, many people think they only have to change oil which is ridiculous. It should last about 200k miles with proper fluid changes before the alternator/water pump goes. After that it should easily last you until 300k before another part like that goes.
Absolutely worth buying a used Lexus as long as it’s in good condition and taken care of. But this applies to any used car. If you get something that’s been abused and has problems it can be just as terrible to sort out as anything. I’ve owned my es350 for 10 years and had it since it was 5 years old and put lots of miles on it. I have had no real problems just regular maintenance.
Lexus is a Toyota with premium materials, extra sound dampening, and luxury suspensions. so yes it’ll always be reliable as long as the previous owners did basic maintenance
My 2010 Lexus ES 350 is 14 years old now & I bought it in 2019 with 62K miles on it. I made sure to have my mechanic inspect it before I took the plunge. For $12.5K cash, it’s the best car I’ve ever owned.
Mark, I bought a 96 Lexus SC400 with 162K miles and it was in mint condition. I put over 200K miles on it before some dumb broad texting and driving ran the stop sign and totaled my car. The odometer had 397K miles and still running strong. It really comes down to looking for the problem areas of the specific model you're looking to buy to avoid headaches and repairs. I bought a 97" SC400 for my mother as a Christmas gift years ago and again it had 150k miles and with 207K on it now the car is super reliable. Marky Mark this is why I say Lexus for life Baby!
@@Jac735 I wouldnt know because in owning Lexuses since 1996 i have never needed any parts other than replacing one battery on an LS400...seriously...and i have never taken any of my cars to a Lexus dealer for anything. Their prices will gouge your eyes out.
Great video. I am in Europe and have an Is300h, from 2014, near 300.000 km, only thing got worn out was a seal from water pump. I changed the complete pump for 200 €. Believe it or not that’s the total of malfunctions I’ve had until today. The hybrid battery died after 8 years/around 200.000 km total. I got it changed free of charge ( yes free of charge ) since I made previously an extend warranty of it (150€) . A plain, professional and honest after sales service helps a lot whichever brand you get.
My ‘07 IS250 had 357,223 when she was rear ended. Was still driving like formula car after the crash!! Tig welded aluminum radiator, silicon coolant hoses, water pump, thermostat, new tires, interior new dash under warranty, leather seats 9/10. 350 brake kit w/stainless steel lines & ice cold AC with original compressor. Yup... she was a head turner 😏 Never had any issues with the engine. I used to hammer on her from day until night.
In 1997, I bought a 1998 (new) ES 300. Today it is a well maintained Pearl White beauty that gets rave looks and comments weekly. 68,000 miles on this sled. Everything works. 28+ mph on the Hwy. 19 in the city. A/c never required service. CD changer still works perfectly. Just keep serviced and fully washed including under carriage. Best ride for the dollar. Looking for wonderful classic? Reach out. Why? A new 2023 ES350 ultra luxury is on the way. Total confidence in these products.
Currently #1 in dependaibility 2023 by J D Power and #1 22 out of the last 27 years. On sixth lexus and not one problem with one of them. Lowest in maintenance cost among luxury vehicles and highest brand loyalty.
Thanks for the thorough video! I recently joined the used Lexus RX350 community after doing a ton of research and preparations over the last couple years. Used to driving Fords, but grew tired of the lack luster experience and concerning repairs. I have a lengthy daily commute, so I was looking for a comfortable and reliable experience. I will probably stay with the brand from now on as most folks who buy Lexus, seem to stay with them.
Bought a 2010 RX 450 with 37k miles for $16k in 2013. Now @187 k miles and counting. I’d have no hesitation taking this car on a Vegas road trip in the summer (live near LA).
My first Lexus was a 2020 NX300. Very nice… until it was rammed and totaled. No injuries. I took the insurance check and bought a 2017 Gs350 AWD. I’ll never own another SUV again! This GS is fantastic!
@@hauthought Sure. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that I’ve been driving SUVs for a long time. When I got the GS I realized that driving a sedan was much more enjoyable. I don’t need the utility of an SUV and as a matter of fact, I just bought a new IS350. 😊
@@davidpavlich8939 understood. I am debating on my next new-to-me vehicle. I like the idea of having the capability of an SUV if i ever needed it but want something that is fun and enjoyable to drive! Exploring all of the options is fun but I’m ready to find something already!
@@hauthought If you have a family, the SUV is the logical choice because of the utility, especially if you have young ones. My wife passed away recently and it's just me, so the IS350 is just about perfect. If I had a bigger budget, I would have purchased the 500, but it's just a bit too rich for my budget.
@@davidpavlich8939 Its just me and my boyfriend, no kids or anything so it makes total sense to maybe get a smaller, fun vehicle. Although with this type of investment, I wonder if it might worth thinking ahead in case we decide to get married and add kids (or a dog) to the mix. On the other hand, it might be great to have a fun smaller car before that lifestyle hits. Something for me to think about. By the way, I’m very sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you stay strong! Much love to you.
Hello sir Since I got older, 53 yr old, I got a lot wiser. I used to own many different types of motor vehicle but I settled with toyota products. Cheap to maintain and long lasting, sound like a perfect solution to me. I this moment my wife and I own a 07 tundra 5.7l with 186k miles, 13 lexus rx 350 with 107k miles, 18 lexus nx 300 , 23 toyota GR 86 , and last but not least a 07 lexus rx 350 with 55k miles. All my vehicles runs like New. I love all of them. Enjoyed your video, thanks.
I owned a Volvo and it was the bane of my existence. Making the decision to purchase a Lexus was the best I’ve ever made in a luxury car. It’s very stylish, classic and reliable! You will not be disappointed, Lexus does not miss.
My plan is to spend some time driving a model from some brand name german crapwagons -- bmw, mercedes, audi, etc., and once I get that out of my system, I'm going right back to Lexus/Acura and never coming back.
In our family stable we had 3 Lexi. One was sold with 275,000 mi. One has 220,000 now and is turning into a rat rod and fassst. One is a 3 year old UX with 30,000 mi. We are extremely delighted with our Lexi choices we also have two perfect 2020 Honda Civics with 60K. Good reviews, bro. 🇨🇦
16 months ago, I bought a 2013 Lexus ES 350 with 35k miles on it. 1 owner, garage-kept, like new. Paid $21k for it. Now has 47k miles on it. I keep it garage kept, detailed, but since I moved much closer to work I only put about 50 miles a week on it now. I can attest that the 3.5L V6 is one of the best NA V6's ever made, very refined with smooth reliable power. I did put aftermarket wheels on it, black with machined accents that make it look more like a F-Sport, even though there was no F-Sport option in 2013, and it handles better with the 18x8.5" wheels. Only problem I had was the bearing in the idler pulley dried up and went south. So I bought a new idler pulley and tensioner pulley while I was at it, and new drive belt, and all-in spent $120 and did them all. Besides basic maintenance, that's all I've spent on the car. It is a great balanced car to drive, pretty much my favorite car that I've owned. Looks good, feels good, gives me a chub.
Excellent point, regarding ownership! Typically, a Lexus owner will keep up on the maintenance, even after several years and the "newness" wears off. Arguably, vehicles five or six years old might have been treated far better, over several owners, then expensive European cars out of warranty
First off who buys Lexus vehicles? They tend to be mature people that want reliability, comfort, and a stylish well appointed vehicle. A new Lexus is not cheap so people with a good income buy them. They can afford to make sure they are maintained. Lexus vehicles are not sports cars they are luxury vehicles, so they are driven accordingly. Most Lexus vehicles use regular gas. The venerable V6 will probably be phased out and replaced with a turbo 4 cyl. that will get better gas mileage but require premium fuel. Lexus vehicles with a normally aspirated engine are mated to a 6-speed or 8-speed geared very good transmission. Lexus is a Toyota product that has the same design that can be maintained easily concept. The exaust system is stainless steel, and the body is well constructed with good steel. The only issue you can run into on the V6 is a timing cover oil leak that is expensive to repair but it is fairly rare. Like any vehicle, you inspect it or have a mechanic go over it before you buy but Lexus used vehicles are generally a good bet. Or buy a used one from a Lexus dealer. They are not going to sell you a problem vehicle. BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Audi are nice vehicles but the parts and maintenance are very expensive. Who wants to have to change a timing chain at 200,000 km or sooner? They all use premium gas. They are not DIY-friendly vehicles in general. These days even a chain garage will charge you $130. per hour and they all nickel and dime you for scanner use, acetylene use, shop supplies etc. They are also up charging a lot on parts. The BMW, Mercedes, and Audi dealers will charge you $200. an hour and use shop scale book times for repairs. So a vehicle you can DIY makes sense.
Haha I would totally agree Thomas as many Euro car fans drive them like a rally driver. With that said there are some nicely kept Bimmrs and Benzs, you just have to look a little longer. No warranty is a huge risk for a V8 BMW that is 9 years old.
I don't think buying used anything is a mistake as long as it's dealer certified pre-owned. Buying brand new is a mistake, making ridiculous car payments while the vehicle rapidly depreciates is a mistake!
Yes new is usually a big hit but sadly the last year or so people were paying new price for used vehicles and basically becoming upside down on the loan
CPO really doesn't mean much. You are just paying for an extended warranty essentially. Take a CPO car and tell them you don't need it warrantied. They will drop the price. Nothing magic about a CPO except "CPO" gets people to pay more
I drive 2004 gx470... 300K, excellent road feel... drive train & steering is so smooth... got t boned on the driver side front quarter panel.... got fixed in two weeks
I have a 2008 Lexus Rx350 awd that I bought used @157,000 miles. No problems! Paint is great ... no sign of rust and I live in the rust belt. Interior is great.Change your fluids regularly and be prepared for no problems. High quality materials throughout.
I had a 2007 IS had 75000 miles on it. Something went wrong with the engine… and Lexus actually replaced it in 2011 after I had it for 4 years. So impressive
Good practical and helpful video. I have owned Lexuses since 1996 and my current 2015 RX350 for the last 7 years. I bought it as a service loaner...CPO..with 10K miles and it now has 90000 miles and is in very good condition. I usually upgrade to a new or new Lexus every 4-5 years but due to the market conditions of the last 2 years i decided to keep the 2015 as i have always carefully maintained it .I just had new brakes installed front and rear and getting 89000 on the original brakes is phenomenal in my opinion. Because even RXs as old as 2020 models are selling for very close to MSRP if the mileage is moderate, Im not willing to pay that kind of money for one that old even though it would suit me fine, especially if it was CPO. I dont trust Lexus dealers like i used to ,even with their CPO cars so if and when i decide to buy another CPO Lexus I will get a pre purchase inspection to keep them honest before i make a deal. The ES350....i have had 2....is actually my fav Lexus but we need an SUV so I usually buy the RX these days, but would love to have another ES even if it was an old 2010 or so model.
@@he6005 I have never seen any seller, private or dealer, who would pay for a pre purchase inspection. The potential buyer has to pay for it . Importantly, to avoid wasting your money, get a sales price agreement in WRITING which includes a contingency that the sale will only be completed if the pre purchase inspection is to the buyer's satisfaction. Otherwise you can spend $150-200 for the inspection, decide to buy the car and find that you and the seller cant agree on a price. Additionally, if the inspection shows problems with the car the buyer can use that as a basis for negotiation of the seller's price, or walk away from the deal depending on the severity of the problems indentified by the inspector. Finally, who you select for the inspection is critical because various inspection services dont all offer the same depth or detail of the inspection. When you hire an inspection service, make sure you specify and they guarantee in writing the exact details their inspection will include. A good example might be a compression test which most inspections do NOT usually include, but which is critical in a used car of older cars.
@@whocares0316 Many thanks for the detailed answer! I'm currently planning to look at a 2020 Lexus RX350 with only about 40,000 km mileage on it, and it's even still under the official Lexus warranty. My friend advised me that there is no need to do an inspection of such a new car, just take a look around for myself and take a test drive. What do you think?
@@he6005 All i can say is that in 30 years of buying used Lexuses...both certified and other...i NEVER had a pre purchase inspection done on one and never had a mechanical problem with any of them. Now, however, i think times have changed because I have in the past year started seeing people who bought a CPO Lexus subsequently have mechanical problems only to find out that the Lexus dealer had actually NOT performed some of the 161 points of inspections they rave about while they charge on average $2000 extra for a CPO Lexus vs what the car would sell for it if wasnt certified. So if i were you unless you are trying to buy a Service Loaner with 10K or less mileage, or something similar, i would spend the $150-200 for the pre purchase inspection. Lexuses have gone up so much in price that you really cant afford to take a chance.. It is true that if the car is CPO you have the CPO warranty to fall back on but there are lots of mechanical items that no CPO warranty covers and fixing a Lexus isnt cheap! Finally, before i hone in on a Lexus i want to buy, especially used, I evaluate the DEALER who is selling the car. The QUALITY of Lexus dealers "aint what it used to be" and that is an understatement. And the caliber of Lexus salesman isnt what it used to be. I dont normally ever buy a used Lexus from anyone but a Lexus dealer unless it is from a new car non Lexus dealer who has a nice Lexus trade in they are trying to sell. I am pretty disgusted with Lexus these days and bought my first one in 1996. Hope this helps you. Just my own experiences.
You hit spot on when talking about what people are looking for. I hope Lexus gets over its identity crisis....if I want performance, I'll buy a performance car. If I want luxury, I'll buy a luxury car. I can afford to buy a new Lexus; however, have decided not to. I'm looking for a luxury car that is reliable...not an ugly, 'aggressive' looking 'performance' car which unfortunately seems to be the norm today.
If it’s not reliable it’s not viable. Lexus is the most reliable car on the road. Mercedes BMW other luxury performance cars are not reliable. Lexus rules.
114k miles on my Lexus RX350, needed a water pump @ 112k miles. I replaced it with the proper Aisin brand water pump kit (serpentine belt, tensioner, etc..). That's it, just regular maintenance otherwise. I'd buy my RX350 all over again every time, and still runs and drives like new.
Ive had my 2010 hs250h for 10 years. We bought it in 2014- four years old. The car has been the best car i have ever owned. I tend to keep my vehicles forever. It's been an amazing car! Still going strong everyday. Basic maintenance and that's it. I plan to drive it another 10 years!
Bought a 2013 RX350 F Sport a couple of months ago. 160K kms and the 8spd transmission failed. Car was well maintained. $12k to replace it with a refurbished one. Luckily the dealer had to buy it back.
That's why I got myself a used Lexus RCF in Edmonton. That glorious V8 is the right mix of sportiness, luxury and reliability. Got a great deal before covid and it still commands the same money that I paid 4 years ago after putting another 40k km on it. No plan to sell it. Love that thing and it is very rare. Only seen one or two in the last 4 years. Super satisfied with it. super cheap on maintenance and sounds just amazing.
@@floggyWM1 It can be said the same for other brands as well. For example BMW X3 and X3M. Well they surely get curious and surprised when I step on it and V8 growls. It's sounds amazing and u can hear RCF exhaust on my Chanel or in general on RUclips.
@@karambir87 exactly, unless you are into cars. Not a lot of people can tell between a BMW M3/4/5 vs an 340i. Same goes with standard Mercedes vs AMGs. If you want the car to be instantly recognizable, get a Ferrari or Lambo or Mclaren.
@@anthonyxuereb792 surprising pretty good. It has the Atkinson cycle from the prius. If I drive it nicely I get about 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg highway or I can have fun and get 15 mpgs. My son’s Rav4 was totaled and we tried to find a similar vehicle. Ended up buying a 2014 Lexus RX350 with 68,000 miles. He loves it! We had our mechanic check it out before we purchased it. He said it was well maintained, in great shape.

Here in the UK, in 2018 we bought a 2015 IS300h hybrid. It's still very low mileage, as we use a Toyota Yaris for shopping with. The Lexus will be 9 yrs old next year, all we've had to get fixed are the spark plugs, and the 12v battery during lockdown.
Just got a fully loaded 2016 rx350 F sport, 1 owner, all Lexus dealership maintenance records, 50k miles, $30k. Even has the front end wrapped in the clear film, and tires replaced 3k miles ago. I think I did well. Only issue is 1 key
I already got a new key. Called around and a mobile locksmith cut, and programmed a new key for me. I found a new oem key fob on eBay. Purchased key fob for $110 and the key cut+programming was $100. Not bad

Like your channel but disagree on the IS250. My 2011 IS250 is running as strong as ever. Installed an oil catch can and periodically CRC Intake Valve Cleaner through the air intake. Blackstone labs results come back with healthy engine results time and again. Drain and fill the tranny routinely. One just needs to know how to maintain these baby’s in order to last 300k-400k miles. And helps that the IS250 has been in the family since 2011. Keep up the good work.
Buying a USED Lexus is one of the best investments you will ever make. It holds its value well, super reliable, and will drive forever with little to no problems whatsoever.
Here's an interesting fact I learned from the car care nut channel. The Toyota eCVT gearboxes used in the hybrids are not available except through special order. They are not kept in stock because its not needed. They are that reliable!

I’ve had my 2012 IS 350 for almost 3 years now, and the only thing that I’ve done to it is routine maintenance. It has 165K on the clock, and still runs like a clock. Lexus is my favorite car brand, and probably always will be!
Got mine 2012 IS 350 few months ago with 60k miles. DIY all the maintenance: engine oil/filter, air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs(ngk double fine electrodes), cleaned throttle body, MAF, installed oil catch can with new a PCV, flushed coolant, drained transmission fluid & replaced filter/gasket/cleaned pan & magnets, rear diff oil, replaced in tank fuel filter, bleed brake fluid. Only thing left is brake pads and rotors when they needs changing. Car drives like a dream esp when you know you have used all quality fluids, parts and have done them correctly.

Funny thing you mention the parts with Toyota are the same. I brought my Toyota vehicle in for a oil change . I noticed half the vehicles getting a oil change were Lexus vehicles. I asked the services guy I thought this was a Toyota dealership. He said, "we do oil changes cheaper than them."
I bought a used Lexus ES 350. It was 3 years old with low mileage. I have had it for 8 years…..absolutely NO PROBLEMS. I take it to my local mechanic’s c and had had ZERO problems. I just hit 100,000 miles. A wonderful car.

This video was wonderful. And glorious. The glory in the wonder was wonderfully glorious. Bad jokes aside, you’re a solid reviewer. Love the straight talk and detail.
You can get 2+ year old ES models for $35k all day long which is how much a NEW Accord costs... not even a loaded Accord either. Even the Civic Touring is up around $32k. So it's a pretty good deal if you can buy an ES. Lots more features and amenities in the Lexus at that price (like cooled seats, quiet inside, nicer trim level, etc.).
I agree new Lexus is better deal than 1-3 year old Lexus. But I think a new hybrid Toyota is better value than a 4-10 year old Lexus. You can hold onto the Toyota for 4-6 years until you can get a lightly used Lexus at reasonable price. Many people are stuck in the mindset of new car being bad value, and they haven't adapted to current market dynamics. Another factor is that in 3 years there will be a shortage of 3 year old hybrid Toyota/Lexus, so they will demand a higher than normal price.
Just bought a Lexus NX hybrid for my wife to replace her 08 RX350 which still runs strong. The RX will be my son’s first car. My 2017Lexus ES350 drives like the day I brought her home, she only has 37K miles in her though.
It's interesting how things can be almost contrary in the UK in comparison -Is250s are bulletproof here, no carbon issues with our fuels. -parts for lexus are harder to find compared to BMWs so parts can be rarer and expensive. -we don't get many 3.5l V6 lexus here. -you get way more things as standard in a lexus compared to German rivals. -forget being a 3rd owner, most used cars have been through between 5-10 owners.
Lexus SUV's/crossovers are classy vehicles, but something that is more versatile and practical would be the first-generation Kia Rondo with the 2.7 L V6 engine and the five-speed automatic transmission, the second-generation Hyundai Santa Fe with the 3.3 L V6 engine and the five-speed automatic transmission and the first-generation Nissan Versa (hatchback) with the 1.8 L four-cylinder engine and the four-speed automatic transmission. Thank you very much.
Super useful info on what, where, and models to watch out for when buying used Lexus - corrosion undercarriage, hood drainage, and in between body seams, water pumps, leaky oil lines, etc. Thank you.
So far in the last 8 years i 've had 3 lexus cars a ct 200h,an nx 300h and at the moment a i am enjoying an es 300h.Never had a problem with them most reliable cars ever
I bought a brand new 2021 Lexus IS300 F sport, switching over from a BMW 335. I looked at the new G-series BMW 330 at the time and decided to get the Lexus instead. This is a very accurate review as no car is best at all things and BMW certainly had the more modern interior design, some better technology, a better transmission. I did observe the Lexus to be superior in sound, luxury, build quality, design and having better seats alongside a more compelling engine (3.5 n/a V6 seemed more compelling than a 2.0T 4 cylinder). I do miss the 335, as leaky as it was lol. I think BMWs are great second cars for fun but I think most people will find greater utility in a car that excels in look, sound, luxury and longevity - these are all season commuters after all. Down to preference I would say, but I am sticking with my Lexus for my main and I'll get something fun on the side later down.
Hi Devan, sounds like a solid experience with the Lexus so far, and you are right, the BMW has the focus on the drive above durability. The B58 seems to be running solidly and I would expect the S58 to be even better, but time will truly tell. Either way, BMW has improved in the last handful of years with regard to reliability.
@@ECPP if I could have afforded the g series m340 I would have it tbh. But my lexus was like 52k and those were like 70k. But tbh, I heard the b58’s are pretty solid. My n55 was a bit leaky back in the day, thank god I didn’t go through the n54 struggles lol.

It’s like you’re making these videos for me. I traded in my 2015 RCF for a 2017 RX350 recently. Hard choice, but the more practical one. I don’t have much rust underneath but did oil spray it before the winter. Thanks for the heads up about under the top of the hood… not rust that I see, but it was well taken care of before I got it. It’s got 88,000kms, probably going to keep it for awhile.
I love the new style grille on the newer Lexus and the older ones also, mainly because I go for function over form, I don't just want to buy a good looking car and end up having it for a lawn ornament in 5 years
My lease is almost up on my Lexus es350 2022. You convinced me to buy it. $29,000. I like a new car every 2 yr. But I should buy it for the residual price. And maybe use for trade.
I've got the 2003 LS 430 widely considered one of the best cars ever built and the es300 both bulletproof and rock solid I get asked to sell my LS 430 all the time black cherry w/ black leather but its a keeper with 100k on the clock ,the ride is incredible and the peace of mind priceless.
Off topic. I just wanted to share my experience, We purchased a brand new car on Saturday night, from a dealer about 1.5 hours away with traffic aside from them trying to add more fees to the agreed upon written quoted price, when we got home at late night straight from the dealer the car shut down completely and went completely dead. This is at 11 pm. We had a baby and 2 toddlers with us, had we stopped on the way home we would have been stranded as the road side assistance wasn't activated yet(we learnt this the next day). Upon reflection , it seemed like the sales person may have know there was an issue and still gave us the car. The battery caps were off when we got home, and it appeared to be jump started at the dealer,(sales manager mentioned that after the fact) Also we found it odd he left the car running after the test drive for a long while, his reason was he wanted to refuel the car, but it could have been he was hoping the battery recharged itself. And upon leaving he said if we had problems with the car, let them know they would sort it out. And I was thinking it's a new car I hope there are no problems. Only after it died i started piecing these things together. I may be wrong but it appears that way. The GM never apologized or contacted us, or responded to our emails, we had to call to get in touch with him and the person who answered down played the whole situation and said he would take our information and pass it on to the GM, the GM then called but was very cold, we suggested a refund or a new car replacements, he said the refund, which we preferred as the service at this point was mocking and horrible. I am hoping he gives us the refund when we go in. And he is not bsing us. The car is being serviced and we have to return the car when it's finished. the technician its a battery out of warranty, should let the dealer have know this before giving us the car when they are doing the detailing.l? After spending $55k on a vehicle, I am so disgusted. What are your thoughts on this?
It depends is it taken care of like any other car🤷🏾♂️ my bmw was pre owned with 84K miles and now it has 103K miles and she runs fine because it was taken care of just like how I’m doing now it still came with 2 keys and the manual with plastic wrap on it when I bought it lol
I used to do all my own work. Had a sc430 and 2022 Rx 350. Just take the card change transmission fluid and rear differential every 50,k miles. Change oil every 5000. Buy Mobil one at Walmart but use Toyota filters
Even if it's a Lexus, you have to get a good maintenance record, carfax and a good inspection for it. It could have been abused. I would look for something 2012 or newer for the GS, ES and IS models. Some of the Lexus 3.5 engines can develop a front timing chain cover oil leak, which is a known issue. It's a $2k plus repair. That's where the inspection part comes in 👍
Always wished that Lexus made something the size of the Sequoia to compete in the full sized space. LX570/600 are great and all, but they’re tiny on the interior in comparison to the larger competitors.
Engineering Background here coming form my reliable Toyota Camry. What are the advantages of going with F Sport Handling vs the luxury non F sport? I don't mind $49,000 but I might get it a couple of years used so I could get it for $35,000. 3 years used, around 45,000 miles. Even if it is 5 years old and has 75,000 miles, a Lexus can go over 250,000 miles. The grill can be a bit polarizing and not a huge fan of it but it's not the WORST grill out in the market, it's just a bit in your face. I like the grill on the GX 550 the best. I am going to get an ES 350 F sport Handling for my every day car and a GX 550 Ovetrail +. I am not going to go for the RX because it's not that good in towing and I prefer body on frame so I can go off road.

@pauly kay Just wondering, is there a considerable difference in quality (if any) between Lexuses built in Japan vs built in North America?
@@smakarov24 no that I am aware of. I have 3 Lexuses in our household. A 08 RX350 and a 24 NX350H both built in Japan. My 17 ES350 was built in Kentucky. All of them bought new. I don’t see any built difference in terms of material and built quality.

If you're looking at a Beamer, especially the M series, another cost that may be overlooked, is the cost of insurance!
For real..even just liability cost a lot..

I am on my third preowned Lexus!
Me too…on my 7th certified Lexus. Never had one in the shop for repairs!
Wtf are you talking about. I hope you change the other fluids when the manual suggests. It's not like it doesn't need regular maintenance. Please read the manual to find out when each of the fluids need to be changed and follow that. It will last a lifetime.
@@RIPTootDid you fail to read the words ROUTINE MAINTENANCE in my original post? Oil changes and routine maintenance…
My 2015 GS350 F Sport was previously owned. Purchased it in 2020. Now approaching 100K flawless miles. Great automobile!
How much u paid for it?
I have the same one bought it at 109k miles , only problem I had was o2 sensor and tires. Two oil changes. I’m at 119,360 now & this shit still cranks
Did you do a drain and fill on the transmission fluid yet
Paid $24K at end of 2020. It had 58K miles. Had Lexus drain and replace transmission fluid at 100K. Now has 114K miles. Still excellent!

Hi there. Do you mind sharing why you’ll never buy another (lexus) suv again?
@@hauthought Sure. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that I’ve been driving SUVs for a long time. When I got the GS I realized that driving a sedan was much more enjoyable. I don’t need the utility of an SUV and as a matter of fact, I just bought a new IS350. 😊

Does it have the 2gr-fe? If so, expect a $4,000 bill soon to fix a timing chain gasket.
@daleckio Yes it has that engine... that was the only engine offered for that model. And if that happens, I'll fix it myself.
Excellent point, regarding ownership! Typically, a Lexus owner will keep up on the maintenance, even after several years and the "newness" wears off. Arguably, vehicles five or six years old might have been treated far better, over several owners, then expensive European cars out of warranty
Nah.. theyre just built better
Thanks
@@ECPP without a warranty on my Porsche I would have been in bad shape. Well worth the purchase price!

How to do a pre purchase inspection? Shall I pay for the pre purchase inspection by my own? Thanks!

Cheerz
That's why I got myself a used Lexus RCF in Edmonton. That glorious V8 is the right mix of sportiness, luxury and reliability. Got a great deal before covid and it still commands the same money that I paid 4 years ago after putting another 40k km on it. No plan to sell it. Love that thing and it is very rare. Only seen one or two in the last 4 years. Super satisfied with it. super cheap on maintenance and sounds just amazing.
average person cant tell the difference between rcf, rc350 or rc300
@@floggyWM1 It can be said the same for other brands as well. For example BMW X3 and X3M. Well they surely get curious and surprised when I step on it and V8 growls. It's sounds amazing and u can hear RCF exhaust on my Chanel or in general on RUclips.
@@karambir87 exactly, unless you are into cars. Not a lot of people can tell between a BMW M3/4/5 vs an 340i. Same goes with standard Mercedes vs AMGs. If you want the car to be instantly recognizable, get a Ferrari or Lambo or Mclaren.
What about fuel economy?
@@anthonyxuereb792 surprising pretty good. It has the Atkinson cycle from the prius. If I drive it nicely I get about 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg highway or I can have fun and get 15 mpgs. I usually prefer fun becoz I have another eco vehicle as a daily. Fun means hitting the red line before shifting and driving it in sport plus or manual mode.
My son’s Rav4 was totaled and we tried to find a similar vehicle. Ended up buying a 2014 Lexus RX350 with 68,000 miles. He loves it! We had our mechanic check it out before we purchased it. He said it was well maintained, in great shape.
I am into the Lexus brand now, so this was worth watching, thank you sir, great video as always
They are truly a beauty experience to drive, smooth like you’re in a cloud.
Oh I know that's true, I just drove a 2021 nx 300, I loved it. You can't go wrong with a Lexus.
I'm in the market for one now... I'm in no rush and I'll take every one of those caviats and do my do diligence before nailing it home! Thanks a always and wishing you the best M ✌️💚
People say BMWs are unrelaible but any car can be unrelaible if they aren’t looked after properly including Lexus.
That can be true, but many other parts to this chat which I can share later
Cost a fortune if you want a second Lexus logo key!
I already got a new key. Called around and a mobile locksmith cut, and programmed a new key for me. I found a new oem key fob on eBay. Purchased key fob for $110 and the key cut+programming was $100. Not bad
took the plunge last year and bought myself a brand new 22 es350 f sport. sorry to say it wont be available on the used market anytime soon. or ever. what a great car.
I’m on my second used Lexus. It’s a 2021 IS350 F Sport. Couldn’t be happier.
In December I’ll begin looking for my 3rd. I’ve decided to get a 2021 LC500 to put next to it in my garage
Cheers
Owner of a 2016 Lexus NX. Had a $600 repair on the Turbo engine in 2020. Besides that I've spent $450 on maintenance per year.
Yikes, on a 2016 the turbo needs repair? That’s why I just bought a new NX hybrid for my wife. No turbo.
450 on what ?
Like your channel but disagree on the IS250. My 2011 IS250 is running as strong as ever. Installed an oil catch can and periodically CRC Intake Valve Cleaner through the air intake. Blackstone labs results come back with healthy engine results time and again. Drain and fill the tranny routinely. One just needs to know how to maintain these baby’s in order to last 300k-400k miles. And helps that the IS250 has been in the family since 2011. Keep up the good work.
You have been lucky. The 250's are known to have issues.
Much better than the old Jatco crap at Nissan
I bought a 2014 Lexus GS350 awd 4.5 years ago with 40k miles on it. It currently has 80k miles on it. I only bought tires and new brakes/rotors since. It's an an amazing car.
2015 Lexus RC 350 Fsport with 42k miles was $34,000 out the door with tax in California last year. Just did a KBB and car is worth $32,000 now with 56k miles I love driving my car
I am a Lexus convert since 2012 got a 2012 CT 200h for my son’s college and errands.
In 2015 I got the FSport RX 350 (certified) in 2021 and 2022 a premium and luxury RX 350 respectively (still in my garage and both certified) last December my son bought (on his own a new NX 450h) and he is very happy.
I believe Lexus when they say ..”In pursuit of perfection” they weren’t kidding, best vehicles 🚗 ever.
If you were in position to have to buy a new SUV vehicle, WHAT would you personally purchase? Factors - SUV, naturally aspirated, V6, reliability, best value for the money etcetera… WHAT BRAND, MODEL, 2024, 2025(No turbo)? Thanks in advance for your thoughts based on your knowledgeable experience as I have not purchased a new car in over 14 years. I am a little overwhelmed. Should I wait until the end of the year? I really appreciate your videos.
I’ve had my 2012 IS 350 for almost 3 years now, and the only thing that I’ve done to it is routine maintenance. It has 165K on the clock, and still runs like a clock. Lexus is my favorite car brand, and probably always will be!
I have a 2009 is350. They have a weakass water pump, make sure to replace it regularly or your engine may grenade
@@qwertyui5086 I did my brakes and rotors last month. You can’t go wrong with Power Stop rotors and Akebono pads. Car stops on a dime with no noises whatsoever.
I am an aircraft engineer. I want quality and safety and reliability. Used Lexuses have given me these for years. Just make sure they have been looked after.
Important qualities
I have an IS250. It' accelerates great in manual form & you have to use 5000 km oil change interval to mitigate carbon. Otherwise great car. IDK about the early manual transmissions tho; mine is 2011.
True if you know how to manage it, they can work
Just bought my wife a used 2020 GS 350 AWD, Had 10k miles, one owner. Fantastic vehicle.
Nice car. Just bought my wife a new NX350H last Sunday. 😊
I have a 2013 Lexus GS350 all wheel drive. Bought it in Two thousand twenty new it was sixty one $1000 I paid 24000 thousand It had 69000 miles when I got it. It's been very reliable. I love my lexus would definitely buy another one but this one will never break so I'll have it forever
Haha, for sure, always an option to trim some costs in some ways
I bought a used Lexus ES 350. It was 3 years old with low mileage. I have had it for 8 years…..absolutely NO PROBLEMS. I take it to my local mechanic’s c and had had ZERO problems. I just hit 100,000 miles. A wonderful car.
That blue IS 350 is such a beautiful car. The blue is outstanding. If i win the lottery.
It is a gorgeous car indeed
I have a 2009 IS250 and it's been incredibly reliable.
I bought a used 2008 lexus is 250 with 100,000 miles on it, been driving it for 7 years now, no issues at all. Just regular maintenance.
I used to own 2005 and 2015 Nissan Altima, one Honda civic 2006, and Lexus RX 350 2021, NX 350 2024. I bought all of them brand new, honestly the best driving experience was Altima 2015. I sold it at 8 years with 35K miles
I have owned a 92 sc300 drove it to 350k with basic maintenance, one alternator and rear wheel bearings. A 97 es300 drove it to 330k with basic maintenance when it got hit. I own a 03 es 300 now it has right at 350k on it, basic maintenance only. I'm looking at buying another one now but they are great cars if you drive a lot. Very comfortable and ride well. The maintenance on every one but the LS is very affordable and easy for dyi people.
Nice
This video was wonderful. And glorious.
The glory in the wonder was wonderfully glorious.
Bad jokes aside, you’re a solid reviewer. Love the straight talk and detail.
haha, thanks very much
You can get 2+ year old ES models for $35k all day long which is how much a NEW Accord costs... not even a loaded Accord either.
It's interesting how things can be almost contrary in the UK in comparison
-Is250s are bulletproof here, no carbon issues with our fuels.
Thanks for sharing
Many of the older ones just go for a long time
Amazing Video, with amazing Information and breakdown on Lexus vehicles
Thank You!
Scotty Kilmer approves this message🤣
@@davidwelday3276 lol fr! I disagree with his continual bmw hate tho. The b48 & 58 ain’t too bad
Nice
Im on my second. 1st one done 150k miles. I've only done the last 55k from this. I had no issues with the car..the second is an is300h I'm super happy with done the 1k miles so far no issues the car has done 45k now still no issues
Absokutely
It’s like you’re making these videos for me. I traded in my 2015 RCF for a 2017 RX350 recently. Hard choice, but the more practical one. I don’t have much rust underneath but did oil spray it before the winter. Thanks for the heads up about under the top of the hood… not rust that I see, but it was well taken care of before I got it.
It’s got 88,000kms, probably going to keep it for awhile.
Thank you so much for watching and yes great choice in vehicles they will last a long, long time
@@ECPP You’re content is great. You’re giving Scotty too Hottie Kilmer a run for his money!
On my 2nd Lexus (IS350 and RCF) and can not be happier
*Bought a 10' Lexus ISF from a service man that couldn't take it with him. He loved that car. Best purchase I ever made. Pristine*
I love the new style grille on the newer Lexus and the older ones also, mainly because I go for function over form, I don't just want to buy a good looking car and end up having it for a lawn ornament in 5 years
Ultra reliable for a money pit Lexus. But the NX is way better. And better fuel efficiency than expensive and money pit LX600
You need to hold your camera steady, less quick camera movements. It’s unwatchable at times..
Recently picked up a used GX460 plan on keeping it for a long time will eventually give it to the wife beacause shopping around for truck
My lease is almost up on my Lexus es350 2022. You convinced me to buy it. $29,000. I like a new car every 2 yr. But I should buy it for the residual price. And maybe use for trade.
I would buy it at $29K and sell it for a profit, then use that cash to buy something else you like.
Solid units
Nice vid, I wish you talked more about the trucks though, especially the LX

Got a used ES300h with 45,000 miles. Everything's great. Best expense so far.
On my second L-Certified car and only had 1 issue (water pump on 2018 NX) that was covered under the certified warranty. Other than that, zero issues.
Es are good to buy because usually old people who really takes care of their car (dealership only maintenance) trade them in
Even if it's a Lexus, you have to get a good maintenance record, carfax and a good inspection for it.
The new Lexus TX is coming I think. Based on the Toyota Grand Highlander.
Me too I’m deciding between the sequoia or a smaller Lexus, I’m leaning towards the sequoia
I got a 2015 Lexus GS 350 with 92k miles 4 years later now with 133k miles no problem at all!!! runs like a clock
