I would much rather have your kitchen than those "ordinary" kitchens that you buy!! Things you build yourself has personality! You are doing such a great job!! 🙂🌼☀️🍁👍
And the memory of her renovation will last her whole life. Longer, now that it’s on RUclips. 😊
Such a great work! I can't even imagine how incredibly cool it is to finally bake a pie in that kitchen where every single centimeter was made by your own hands. Well done, Rosie! You're a huge inspiration.
You're so right, living in a place made with your own hands is one of the best divine gifts we can achieve on the earth!
❤ Als een doe het zelver met jaren ervaring en een ton meer tools ben ik stik jaloers op jouw creaties . Van harte gefeliciteerd !
"I have no idea what I'm doing so I think now is a good time to tackle Japanese joinery," she says.
And then, she does. 💜
So satisfying to see a woman making her own life what she would like it to be. Not needing to ask permission from anyone. Bravo & good job!
I know what it is like to live in the woods, to make things from scratch on a limited budget. My admiration for your life choices is beyond words. You are an incredible inspiration!
Thank you!!! :)
A fantastic job with the kitchen. What a transformation from a dingy dark uninviting room to an outstandingly bright and welcoming homely area. I would definitely commission you to design a new kitchen for me. Wonderful job Rosie fabulous achievement.
Perhaps my next career will be as a specialist rustic kitchen designer! :D
I’ve just discovered your channel. I’m loving watching your videos. I’m a dressmaker/teacher by trade but have done many things in life. I’ve done videography, editing and I fly a drone. I have a cow/calf farm (256 acres) in Australia. I’m a keen woodworker, renovator and garden maker. You are doing a great job. Please watch Charles Dowding no dig gardening. Rather than remove the soil improve it. You have many resources for making compost in the forest and you can improve the removed soil/grass sods. You need to get organic matter into the soil to get the microbes and earthworms working for you. I live alone too but with three cats, a dog, two goats but I’m nearly 62! Keep up sharing your life with us ❤
Am I the only one in tears watching this?! Bravo, Rosie. The kitchen is beautiful! The pie looked amazing, too. ❤
Ingredient list for making a home out of a house: sweat, elbow grease, determination, spritz of curse words, satisfaction and love. The kitchen is now something to behold, Rosie. You needn't be proud because I am proud enough of you for both of us. Job well done, buddy. 👉👍👏👈
Thanks Tortillas! It's been a journey... and we're not at the finish line yet! More elbow grease to come :)
Home is the place for us to call sanctuary, where we don't have be anything but us. You have accomplished this with this kitchen build, as you will with all the other rooms over time. Every design feature is a direct representation of you, as it comes from within you. You are transforming this structure into a home, which is uniquely you. Be very proud of this home and of who you are.
'Home as sanctuary' is such an accurate description. If only we had hearts to understand such truths. Thank you.
I love how you word this, and I'm also looking forward to developing this home in the coming time :)
Well said.
I wish I could write something like this. You said it perfectly.
Perfectly put! I wholeheartedly agree with every word.
I'm starting to watch your videos carefully from the beginning. And as a Japanese person, I'm happy that the word "Japan" appeared in this episode's video.⛩🗾🏯 The beautiful aesthetics of Japan's sophisticated simple design are beautifully reflected in your careful work and finished fittings. I am happy to meet your channel.🪚🫶 I would like to see the rest slowly.🌸
When I bought my home 11 years ago, I had lots of work to do, it was so satisfying to see my progress. I was not as handy as you, but nonetheless it made me feel independent. You are very talented, and determined. I love watching your channel, it is an inspiration to so many I am sure. God has surely blessed you! ❤
Nice, a few comments through, dont keep anything eatable on low shelves unless in a glass/metal container, living in the woods like this and an old house, you are guaranteed to get mice moving or trying to move in around fall.
now you need baskets for your shelves, but how inspirational, wish more young people were like you. how amazing life would be
Now that's a cozy kitchen for sure! Impressive work.
Wow, I m stunned how much your skills improved in less than a year. You are now a handy woman.
Your kitchen looks amazing. You should be so proud of yourself, you have learnt so much in a year, well done you.
I could never figure out how to do all this myself, but I can learn by watching and I would like to learn from someone who does each step carefully and perfectly like you do.
Congratulations Rosie. It’s absolutely beautiful. Quite remarkable that you’ve built that kitchen without previous experience. You’re impressively resourceful and creative. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The simple things are often the most beautiful.
Rosie! As a Swede growing up in the 90’s, I never thought I’d see the day when I would actually find a pine kitchen beautiful. All along as you’ve talked about using pine in your kitchen I’ve been worried that it wouldn’t look nice in the end, but heck, I am 100% converted. It looks so good and you should be so proud of yourself, you’ve really come a long way since you first bought the house. I can’t wait to see more of what you do with the house, and it was fun seeing your sketches of your floor plan as I’ve had a hard time understanding how the house is laid out.
Haha, as someone growing up in the 90s myself I'm also very sceptical about pine... but it's the one thing that's readily available here and surprisingly decent-looking! Although we might nave to revisit this in 5 years when it's gone all 70s style yellow and orange :D
When it starts getting yellow, paint it in a colour you love. I know you said you don't want to cover the wood surface, but that's what pine is made for :). We painted our rustic entrance in dark blue with a white ceiling and it looks absolutely fabulous. @@wildrosie
BRAVO DEAR ROSIE!
My goodness... your kitchen is beautiful. A peaceful functional space that feels like a welcoming warm embrace. Thank you for sharing this challenging process.
WELL DONE!
By the way... your pie looks delicious!
After watching Royal videos all week (RIP Elizabethll) it has struck me....you are no princess! By that, I mean nothing is handed to you. You move into your own life and build your own way. How awesome! 👍😎🇨🇦📷🌲⚘ p.s. memory: Charles and Diana breaking protocol by having a kitchen installed "they" could do their own cooking in. (Not sure how much of that happened!)The stove was massive and beyond anybody's budget!
I really enjoyed watching this episode. The way you tell your story is absolutely relaxing. The finished kitchen looks amazing. Can't wait to see how you'll transform the rest of the building.
This is insanely beautiful. I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that she made it all by herself. This level of dedication and determination, girrrrl! Most precious kitchen I've ever seen.
Is that because she is a woman and not a man.
@@galdessa1 Nah, it’s because I’ve got two left hands and couldn’t do anything like this if my life depended on it. ☺️
Oh my goodness Rosie. Beautiful work on the kitchen. You are very talented! The kitchen truly is the heart and center of home. I just love the extended window sill and shelf for your plants. I would imagine that many of your garden plants will begin their life on that shelf? My grow system has evolved over the years. Now they germinate on a heat mat and are moved to a small shelving unit where lights are attached. When they've outgrown the 2-1/2" pots I transplant into larger containers and they move in to a mini greenhouse. To harden off I open the plastic cover through the day and cover back up as we lose warmth of the sun. It's working well for us.
That pie made me hungry for a German apple pancake! I have to eat low carb because I'm diabetic but I can still make some delicious meals with the nut flours.
Well done you.
When you moved in, there was a wood fire stove and oven, did you keep that? I've not seen that corner again.
I was wondering the same thing. How did Rosie bake her delicious looking pie?
Having gone over the videos. I can see the wood stove use to be where she now has that little seating area and it's going to put in an electric oven and separate cooktop.
At this moment she has a small portable/plug in oven to the right hand side of the room, next to where she does the videos.
@@farmkay thank you.
I can see now you can enjoy the window so much better. I love having the sink under a window. Looking out when doing dishes, makes doing dishes a bit better. I like how it looks bigger and brighter too.
Rosie has a talent for style combined with an ability to visualize in both 2D and 3D. Very rare combination and then you factor in her persistence and energy…
Nice kitchen Rosie ! Dont forget your WOODSTOVE ! The winter is coming and the electrikprices are going upp ! And the cozy feeling is free ! Good luck to you ! 🛠
Interludes are great to soften all the carpentry and give us vignettes into your life at the cottage. The kitchen is so Zen. Congratulations!
I love the design, the Japanese minimalist approach is among the finest in my book. It was a sheer joy watching you fixing all the smallest details. And the music... the video is itself a work of art.
Well said Jana. Rosie's videos alone are a work of art, with such inspiration to design and build one's own vision. Everyone seems to be enjoying these pleasant, informative videos.
Rosie this is such a beautiful Kitchen. A project for you to be so proud of. I’ve just spent the last couple of hours revisiting your earlier videos when you were demolishing walls and drawing plans up for your overall cabin vision. Your reluctance to sand the kitchen ceiling was funny to watch knowing now what you have built and achieved. So good to see your vision coming together and I look forward to seeing what the next steps in your project are. Congratulations Rosie. Another wonderful video!!
Haha, I still haven't painted the ceiling!!
@@wildrosie I would love to hear a small breakdown of your upcoming projects and what is the next step now that the kitchen is almost entirely finished. 😃
so nice to see you smile at your success, so much to be proud of
It was also nice to hear you talking and explaining again. I liked the tranquility of the garden videos, and the texts just added to it. This was more like visiting you, witch is also nice. Thank you for the cake.
I could watch for hours....loving to see you discover your talents and...enjoy the finished products. Watching from Thailand
Me too… except I’m watching from Dallas. 😊
That pie and the first bite brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful work.
Your kitchen turned out amazing. Your videos are beautiful. Please continue to share all your projects.
A great video, Rosie, and very much worth the wait! Such a great result with the kitchen 😀
What happened to that beautiful old stove ???
An honesty, minimalist & beautiful design.
The plywood might need some more reinforcements on the back to keep them from getting even more wonky. Wood can warp over time anyways as it dries or if it isn't treated to protect it from humidity. (That's why you see those Z-shaped reinforcements on old plank doors or barn doors for example.) But plywood is especially wonky. :P
This kitchen is so beautiful! ❤ I‘m very impressed at how your skills have evolved. I love the japanese inspired elements and the warm and spacious atmosphere of the room. Hope you can rest a little now and enjoy your creation 😊 thank you for your videos!
This honestly is the true essence of hard work and just learning in general. I would be so terrified to take on a project like this with no experience. This is absolutely with out a doubt not just a kitchen, but art!
I just love watching your videos. You are such a strong, creative person. I think you are a good example of what we can accomplish alone with patience and perseverance. Kudos to you🎉
I love that kitchen Rosie! Thanks for bothering to include the cost breakdown too - keeps it real.
Beautiful kitchen❤ I just love your calmness & precision of working.Congratulations Rosie. Looking forward to the upcoming new projects🤗
It's amazing what someone can do when they put your mind to it. It's been great following your journey and you should be proud of this achievement.
It turned out great! 👏 Haven't seen the other side of the room and wonder and hope the old wood stove is still there?
Me too. I don’t know if it was working but it looked great. Very sturdy looking
Rosie, your journey gives me so much pleasure to follow! I want to redo my kitchen, but I've been finding it so daunting and don't know where to start. I keep saying, 'Rosie did it, so so can you!!' I LOVE your kitchen, and though you may not have money for fancy materials or finished cabinetry, you have created something with so much beauty. Your kitchen is personal and so full of life. I can't wait to see you enjoy it, fill it up with pantry items and pottery and what not....
It's really nice you can still make something homely without spending crazy amounts of money, I'm surprised as well!
@@wildrosie All you need is imagination and a strong work ethic:)
It was worth waiting for a video! I love your design and I think your workmanship is awesome. Handmade does not need to be perfect to be beautiful. I hope you will get a cozy living room this winter! If you would glue a flat strip of the plywood to the inside center of one cupboard door , coming out an inch, you will not be able to see through the gap and it will be a stop for the other door so they will sit straight.
Looks wonderful, Rosie. So impressive. Minimalistic, yet charming. I love that! And your pie looks scrumptious! 🌻💕
Wow Rosie, that is a beautiful kitchen. I hope you super proud of yourself. 🎉
You make women proud to see such an open and creative female taking on this challenge. Creating your new kitchen will inspire you for years to come.
Great job. ☮️🌹
Rosie congratulations on completing your kitchen.
It is absolutely beautiful in design and functionality, it meets all your needs. You’ve done a fabulous job. You parents must be so proud of all that you’ve accomplished, and you should be proud of yourself. I cannot believe how much you’ve taught yourself along the way.
Thank God you’ve finished it before winter. Your blueberry apple pie looks delish.
What a beautiful contrast from the dim kitchen you had to this bright, cheerful, light filled room you created. Much love and appreciation to you for sharing your journey.
Looking forward to your next design work. You are fabulous. Blessings always from Northern California, USA.
Wow, the kitchen looks so beautiful! I am so impressed of what you are doing and what you are capable of! It must be the best feeling to see this final kitchen! Congratulations Rosie, and I wish you the best day :)
It's such a relief!
This kitchen turned out s lovely! And looks far more designed and custom made than what it actually cost!
I am so pleased with the way your kitchen turned out. You did a great job. You should be very proud of the things you have learned. I’m sure you have inspired others.
I'm a woman and 30 years ago...bought a house that need...well everything...house build 1970
So many projects done...only have to be redone over 😫 😪 😮
On the job training
It is very satisfying to look around and see what I made...and sometimes I wonder how did I do that
I also look and see I could renovate certain areas...like why wouldni want to make a change
I'm just one of these people that likes to move furniture around ...so I like to move around walls..change out fixtures...and you get the picture
I'm excited to see you making something for you by you
Good luck...try salvage places..doors..windows and old boards ...I found a really large slate mantal for my fireplace ....who knew...salvage
What an amazing achievement, congratulations!🎉The understated elegance and peacefulness you’ve created is beautiful. Who wouldn’t be happy in that kitchen? I too love Japanese joinery, so clever (almost puzzle-like) and minimalist. The ‘chuffed’ look on your face at the end is priceless. Love your work dear Rosie.
I feel exactly the same :)
@@wildrosie 🤗
The kitchen now brings nature in...so organic and full of light. I may have missed, is there insulation in the walls? Love that you are enchanted with your hard work. Such a good example of perseverance in a learning process!
This is a real dream kitchen !!! I love it !!! I am impressed how much you have improved your skills by actually doing things yourself 👏
It is so beautiful Rosie!! You have done such an amazing job, you must be brimming with pride. And that pie looks delicious - you definitely earned that!
Love it so much!! You are a remarkable young lady Rosie. Inspiring! ❣
So proud of you Rosie. Great job! As you sit at the the desk and look around, I am sure there's a wonderful feeling of accomplishment! Congrats!
Everything is just so pretty, Rosie. To think you made it all by yourself 😮😍❤️
Rosie . . . what a HUGE accomplishment. I hope you recognize your talent and give yourself the credit you so well deserve. You have created a beautiful kitchen that is a work of art. BRAVA!
Congratulations! You did an excellent job. I cannot afford my own kitchen and you have inspired me. 💗👏
Enjoyed watching this whole kitchen develop a lot and finally knowing what your vision was for the space. ❤
Be careful leaving fruit on the boards for any length of time as they will stain. Kitchen looks great!
I was thinking that too! 😅 Rosie, if you have any bush wood ("sly" in Swedish) or straw or some such material, you could weave a simple fruit basket perhaps? ☺ Could be a cozy smaller project. Also makes for good trivets for your pots and pans!
You must be really proud of your kitchen. Not only is amazing and beautiful, but you have made it all by yourself with your hands, love and patient. Enjoy it!
I recently found your channel and all I can say is that at the end of each story I am in total awe. Not only are your videos beautiful and evocative but everything about how you approach and execute each task is an exercise in exquisite planning and careful execution is just fascinating and wonderful. I have to limit my watching because each story is so rich and engaging that I am left feeling completely involved. You make me so very enriched, thank you.
Hats off to you Rosie! What an amazing, unique kitchen. Clever design, low cost and all handmade by you!
Wow! Super impressed by your skills. You rock! Congratulations. Love everything about your kitchen and its elegant, rustic simplicity and beauty. I hope you get to cook and bake many scrumptious meals in that space. Blessings!
What a transformation! The kitchen is so bright and beautiful Rosie! You should be so proud of yourself. ✨
Really beautiful design. I can’t believe you built it all by hand ! Amazing
Very good end result. I think your kitchen turned out very nice. Now you can cook a lot of good food inside in winter when winter is raging outside. I can't wait to see what the next room/project you will start on. 🙂 Nick
Well done, Rosie, for the awesome result. I would be glad to see more and more of your projects.
What an awesome journey I wish I was 30 years younger I would challenge myself to the challenge for now I'll watch you and the other women who have set out to do it it's very gratifying to watch your progress!!
So beautiful !! Your kitchen will be the most cozy and inviting room this winter, you can enjoy !
cant think of anyone who deserves that pie better than you! congrats with your kitchen. your skills are getting very good!
What fabulous job on the kitchen! You should be so proud of how far you've come in so little time, enjoy your victory pie😘
Wow! You should be so proud of yourself. I am so happy for you and admire your perseverance. It obviously hasn’t been easy, but it is getting exciting now. I especially like how creative you are within your budget. That inspires me to what I can with what I have. You go girl! Can hardly wait to see what’s next.
Your Kitchen is so beautiful and perfect! Great work! And now it’s amazing! ❤
I watched half of the video last weekend, was interrupted, thought I'd save it for later and forgot. Good. Now I could watch the rest today. :) Very beautiful. This video made me happy.
The kitchen is beautiful. This experience will serve you in hard skills and the soft internal build of confidence and character. You can't read about those skills; they only come from experience one chooses. Your kitchen build will change over time as you learn more about materials. Great job, Rosie!
What a huge task you undertook with your cottage, but all your hard work is now paying off. Huge respect for your determination and application.
You are one awesome nest builder! It’s all beautiful! And knowing that you’re doing it for you by you and your way makes it extra special! Love to watch you work!
I wasn’t sure how your kitchen would turn out, now I love it, good on you, you must be very proud. Now I’m looking forward to seeing your other room renovations 👏😊
You've captured and represented an inspirational impression of the Minimalist life. Watching you create your home is also very relaxing and enjoyable. And your music is nice as well.
Rosie what a lovely constructed kitchen, you should be proud of your carpentry and joinery skills, you have leant a lot whist working on your house. Well done.💚
My dream life. You are such an inspiration. Iv'e been saying for years women can survive 100% on their own. This is as alone as you can get and I love it.
Wow ,amazing work. You so meticulous in everything you do . Fascinated to watch your progress.
Well done you. It's so rewarding creating yourself, and all of the lessons you learn along the way. I love watching your journey of self expansion, and wonder if you've seen yourself change and grow from your early videos to now. You're truelly starting to shine, and I love to see it. Take care, stay happy and your awesome. Thank you for sharing yourself. 🙏
Carpentry in a dress, wow, you go girl!! Beautiful workmanship!
You have a way of being excited and calm at the same time which I find quite captivating
This kitchen is so serene and efficient and beautiful. Excellent job! I worry about you going into winter and your food situation. My close friend lives isolated in the Alaskan bush and she always has 25 pound bags of oat groats, soybeans, cornmeal, navy beans, flour, etc. She can make soy milk, tortillas, bread all sorts of tasty things and doesn't worry about snow or getting into town. It's money upfront but cheaper when you buy bulk. I know in a few years your garden will be flourishing and you will have an overflowing pantry and root cellar. And chickens? I'm convinced that you can do anything! Take care.
It looks awesome! Very happy for you! Must be the best feeling knowing what you have accomplished!
Your kitchen is amazing!! It has been such a pleasure to watch you create a home at your Swedish cabin. Your 'homemade' design and builds are at a genius level in my opinion. It has been great to see your skills evolve since you bought the cabin. You give inspiration for the rest of us!
I look forward to each of your new videos and your creative solutions.
All the best wishes to you and your beautiful little home!
Japan meets Sweden 😍 The kitchen somehow looks much bigger with the addition of your new open shelving units! I like the brightness, the plants and the peg detailing which adds charm. Really great job!
So cosy and lovely kitchen, like minimalistic style! You're so handy and skilled, don't belittle yourself 👍 looking forward to see how your whole house gonna look like
