Regarding the fireplace, I believe that there exist special "glass doors" to these old kinds of fireplaces that can replace/be added to the black ones. So you would actually see the fire. These types of old fireplaces are everywhere in sweden and I always thought that it was a shame that one could not see the fire due to the closed doors. I am not 100% sure that they exist, but I vaguely remember that I stumbled upon them on the internet some time ago.

Put out some extra videos and get the money to fix your fireplace. I live in a huge woodland that i don't own in a 300 year old stone cottage. My fireplace is my number one priority . Rosie it will change everything I promise. It creates such a feeling of sanctuary, magic, safety, warmth and protection. Make it a priority!!!!!! Honestly you will be amazed. I know what it's like on your own, everything is different- different needs. Somethings are so much harder. Somethings are so much easier! Get your fireplace up to the top of your priority list (manifest the money, do some sponsorship - reach out to eco flow etc) and then get your own way of getting wood. I use dead standing trees there's loads and I collect kindling all summer. Self sufficient heat (and water) is a game changer.
The amount of time it takes to renovate and create these videos is more than a full time job, it's impossible to make more, I don't even manage to get one out every week because there's simply not enough time. I haven't had a day off in ages. They also do not generate that much income so unfortunately the fireplace will have to wait!
I rally agree with the suggestion of being able to heat your building with firewood. As long as you live in the Swedish forest it must be prio no 1. It will save a lot of cost of electricity as well. I’m sure some nice Swede has an old iron stove that you can get for free.
Yes. I guess if you have never had a fire you don't understand its importance. Sadly it's another thing we have been brainwashed out of. The system wants us reliant on the system. I never realised how important the woodstove is. Now its my number one priority. Especially as my wood is free I just have to go and process it which is a lot of work but i refuse to buy wood when i live in a woodland. I also have bore hole water which is great but it runs off electric. So if i have a power out. I have no water. Another thing Rosie needs to be mindful of. I would not want to be in Sweden in winter relying purely on electricity to heat that would scare me.
I totally agree about the fireplace but perhaps you could just do a freestanding wood stove somewhere in your cottage and forget about that old chimney and I understand how long it does take to make these wonderful videos I just hope you never go away I so enjoy watching you and learning so much from you

Oh wow , Rosie !!!! That kitchen is turning out so beautiful , so clean , modern and simple but classically rustic and elegant and warm and charming ... too many words come to mind .... it's perfect !!!!! As my son would say " You've got the gene !"
Thankyou for the vlog; I am full of admiration for your tenacity and love your design ideas. Is that a fuel/wood burning cooker? What a bonus! another source of heat! Its an amazing oven.. not ugly rosie.. its practical and presumably works in the environment you are living in? Use it. You will start to love it. Why use an electric heater when you have that which is free to load up? It's a no brainer rosie. You are living in the wild now; not in a flat in London - this is how living in the wild really is; and the stove running constantly in the winter; providing heat and the ability to boil a kettle and cook and keep your home warm is fundamental to the sort of life you are leading now. I grew up off grid and the heart and warmth of my home was the Aga.
It is definitely not an ugly oven and says something about the history of the space you’re living in as otherwise it’s all going to be new and yours. Many people would give an arm and and a leg for an oven like that and it must have cost a fortune in its day. Worth getting it restored further down the line.
The work you have done in your kitchen is inspiring and when it’s all complete, your mind will be so much more peaceful. It’s renewing to be completely done with a single room.
Rosie, to Remove the RUST FROM, Your oven Plates, soak the plates in vinegar for a few days. Place extra cloths You may have, soaked in vinegar, place them ON TOP of Your oven., also leave them there for a day or two. Use steel cleaning wool, to give them a good scrub. I love vintage Cast Iron, coated Enamel Wood Fire Burning Stoves. They are beautiful.❤
I love your channel. It's exactly what I've wanted to do for many years now. Get a little cottage in the middle of nowhere and just renovating it. Making it my own kind of heaven. Thank you for being such an inspiration. 💖💖💖
I have also always had that dream and this spring I finally made it real. The cottage and the abandoned farm is in really bad shape and it will be a long process. I would love to start designing but have to make the clean up and renovations first. 😊I hope you can reach your dream too.
I LOVE that sage green colour!!! I love it so much that I would paint the door and the window's frames in the same colour ❤ But it's a personal choice, I mean mine. Anyways, it is truly beautiful, your kitchen is lovely! Well done you, dear Rosie! Hard work pays well.
Rosie, such a pleasure to get your videos. You can see the designer in the making and i bet it takes a very long time to make them. They are perfect! I’m also a designer, and fixing my home taught me so many things. Personally about myself and professionally it gave me a deeper understanding of the profession (detailing, specifying materials, etc). You’re doing an amazing job and you’re very courageous to be doing it. You’re an inspiration. Good luck
Thanks for the weekly dose of motivation, Rosie! I am renovating a small house in Canada and feel like I am not getting things done fast enough... I find your measured pace to be inspirational... I am teaching myself to embrace the 'slow' and savour the little accomplishments. Now if I could just be more philosophical about living in the mess that comes with renovating, that would be a true victory!!!
Oh gosh I feel exactly the same! I cut so many corners because otherwise I’d never get anywhere, haha! And yes the mess is not great. Maybe it’s for the best I’ve never owned my own house before and almost always just rented a room somewhere - so I’m used to only using a small space! I can barely imagine what it would be like to finish the house and actually be able to roam around the whole space freely…. I bet you feel the same 😊
@@wildrosie yes, Thank you for yor weekly dose of.motivation and please consider activating the super thanks button on your videos, so we can contribute to you via RUclips . Greetings from Switzerland
When the paint decided to become one with your jacket, all of my paint-adorned jackets celebrated having a new friend overseas. Seems you and I are on similar journeys although oceans apart. Must say, you're doing a considerably better job than I. Accolades.
You should at least get a price quote for fixing the chimney. If they can clear the debris and maybe line the chimney with stainless (or whatever they use), that would allow you to use it.
I have two old chimneys in my cottage, one of which the upper part was so bad we had to take it down. I was hoping The part inside the house is still ok so i might be able to rebuild it myself. Not sure how difficult it would be. I hope Rosie gets that sorted out. There is nothing as nice as having your own fireplace. I love the sage green color!
Hi Rosie, I love watching your videos, and having heard your sad news about your chimney. You work so hard, and I just hope and pray that someone out there close to you reaches out to you to give you a helping hand in overcoming this dilemma. I just can’t imagine how cold you must get in the winter, and to have this chimney problem fixed am sure would not only make your life so much more enjoyable on those cold dark days, but also give your viewers a lovely warm feeling knowing you’ll be cosy and warm this year. So please if there anyone out there that can fix it for her, you’ll make us all happy. ❤xxx
Rosie, I admire your commitment, tenacity and ingenuity in this project of refurbishing your cabin in the woods. Everything you are doing is looking top notch, harmonious and peaceful. You are to be commended. 🌿 PS: I love your color palette!
Hej Roaming wild Rosie! 11:37 For leaves, use a räfsa. They are made to collect leaves. It makes the work much easier. If you leave the leaves behind, they become fertilizer for the plants. There is a risk that you can get moss where there is shade. I live on a forest plot. I never räfsar the leaves. They turn to earth.
Don't give up on the roller for future ceiling painting , just a little less paint loaded on the roller and you'll be fine. Regardless your job with the brush looks great 👍
Your doing such a great Job on this OLD House. Congratulations for you. You should definitely figure a way to fix that great Chimney . ITs probably especially designed for these cold Swedish winters. To heat the entire house beautifully. I'm sure you can find someone who knows these specialty chimneys to come and fix it. I agree ask everyone on you tube to donate funds to fix the chimney.
Just start an appeal that your subscribers donate for your stove / chimney. Even if everyone only donates 1 euro. Would you hopefully have it warm🤩 for winter. i love your oven - it isnt ugly 😉😉
Yes, if her chimney didn't work, she should've started a Patreon or similar to pay for the chimney fix. It's not sensible to just rely on electric heat in a country like Sweden which gets so very cold. What happens when the power goes out? Yikes.
Hi Rosie, that kitchen is looking so lovely! Here's an idea for the chimney work, I'm sure all these kind people that enjoy your videos would be happy to participate in the chimney repair so you can heat yourself with a fire this winter. I'd be happy to participate in a crowdfunding or such if you felt inspired to organise such a thing. Be well and many blessings to you
I had exactly the same wood stove in my croft. It warmed so nicely and I could also cook on it. so my advice. Prepare the chimney. worth investing in.
Aww, sorry to hear that about the chimney. Nice to hear you have a "rörspis" though, that's a really good style of heater to have once you get the chimney going. Swedish classic since the late 1700s! You'll find once it's going it's going to change the entire experience. Not just the fireing itself, but all the work around it. I love going out and chopping firewood for half an hour or so. That birch on your yard will make good firewood, but you kinda need to hurry in getting it split and stapled so it can dry out and not start to rot. Cut and split it and store it off the ground and covered from rain and snow. I like the green too, it's a classic kitchen color. Really fits a kitchen of your style.
One of my FAVOURITE Architectural Features would be your Vintage Stove. Give some thought to restoring the Original Chimney. With your Ingenuity I’m quite certain this is a task you yourself could in fact master. Love your channel and personal story. Thank You for showing the world it’s quite satisfying being by oneself!
I look forward to your videos. You keep me motivated with my renovations. I love the sage green a lot. And, I hate painting ceilings. Those are the worst. Thank you Rosie. You are amazing and brighten my days.

I absolutely 💯♥️your ability to press on & be your own Instructor in Carpentry skills. Love your taste in decor. Wish you would of left the window cills white-It added a clean & bright. Terracotta brings in more Earth tones, love the sage wall, but would of been cool to expose a bit of the old wallpaper or put a darling forestry of wallpaper on a wall…perhaps in another room. What a wonderful place to dwell. 🌲🌲🥾🥾Dreaming of one day having a special place like this to share with my child🥰🥾🥾🍄♥️
It's fascinating to watch your progress unfold. What is so amazing is that this is all your own work and you put such a lot of effort into everything you do. I love seeing your home grow more beautiful every time.
Wow - you're doing a fantasic job with this nice little "torp"/cottage, Rosie 🙂! You're not asking for advice but I just want to tell you that I, many years ago, moved to a place like this but without electricity and water and the first thing I did was to have the chimney restored. That allowed me to get warmth from the "rörspis"/tiled stove and food from cooking on the "vedspis"/kitchen stove 🙂. I never regretted that! A small advice, though, is that you (IF you want to be able to sometimes in the future use your fireplaces), before you built a cupboard close to the kitchen stove check out with your chimney sweep what sort of fireproof material you must use according to our swedish rules - good luck and lot's of love to you!

Rob Verstuurd vanaf mijn iPad
The ugly corner is now beautiful. I like your woodstove Rosie, unfortunately not functional at the moment, but try to sand down the rust, and polish it with "spislack". You could ask for quotes of lining your chimney with steelpipe, so you can use the woodburners. It is the cheapest and easiest way to get your chimneys approved. Electricity costs too, so it might be a good solution financially. And remember, your fridge gives out a lot of "free" heat. Do not close it in - to take advantage of the heating it gives. 😊
I could be like you and hope to be when able to. I am addicted to your videos, only found you 2 days before, love your journey, love watching your skills and talents unfold and perseverance! An inspiration from another female and always proves women believe in yourselves. Be happy
Just a thought re; kitchen stove - are you aware you can buy 'Blacking' that will restore the top of the oven, once scrapped off old crust etc you apply Blacking, buy online, and stove looks new and resilient again - I did the same in Italy.
Hi Rosie you’re doing a great job, the house is looking so good loving the sage green m the kitchen is looking fresh and bright. Good luck with the rest of the renovations, take care of yourself 😊❤
It all looks very lovely, and the feeling of a "Home" should really be there by now. I think that the primary thing now would be to get the chimney fixed, so the stove can be used - it gives a lingering and cozy heat, and saves you on some screaming when the electrical bills arrive during the winter...
Your kitchen looks so much better for your hard work. I like the sage green. I had a vision of a cat with you in your cabin. I know it would be impractical and a tie but so cosy.
I admire your work and simple life. I too need the changes in seasons,. Gives energy to life. I have lived in Western Oregon all my life, with-in a 10 mile radius north and west of the farm I grew up on. Left home at 12, on my own, but never wanted to go far. Always lived small and simply. I actually lived in an 8'x12' chicken coop until I got married and built this cabin we have lived in since. All hand tools until last year, got a Ryobi battery tool set with circular saw, drill and driver. Also got the 18v battery weed eater tool. I just cut a small section for "lawn" and let the rest go, with a small border of bulbs and wood chips. We do have a small milk goat and 3 chickens. Cabin is off-grid, 12v solar only, wood cooker with boiler, hot water tank in attic. No propane....James
I'm happy you have captioning on. My sound went out 😞 Very cheery space your kitchen! So much light. Your plans for the rest sound wonderful. It's all coming together beautifully. You might be able to get a fireplace insert which is a wood burning stove that sits in your fireplace and the pipe goes up the chimney? Sounds like bricks still need to come out but might be cheaper than a total rebuild for now. Yay for outdoor tools! Love your color choices. I've just purchased yarn for an afghan. Colors are oatmeal, caffe latte, buff and sage green. Granny squares. In process now of rolling balls from skeins in prep of crocheting. My favorite winter project! The one I use now was made by mom and is in need of repair often so this new one is for me. I don't think hers will endure the washing machine this time. It's very old.

And it’s wonderful to see you’re delight in completing each project. Like you, I look forward seeing that chimney fixed. Your little house will feel so cosy then. Be well.
You did good. U did that. Period! 👏🏽🙌🏾🫶🏾👍🏾🦋😘💓
love the sage green & the beautiful old stove, am slowly getting through your videos
thanx for sharing
I'm happy that you are happy. ❤
The oven is beautiful. A reminder of days gone by of a cosy kitchen.
This is my favourite RUclips channel, all is beautiful, the images, the music, you, the cabin, your sense of humour. Perfect! ❤
I am amazed watching you paint. Not a drop of paint spilled anywhere. Nothing goes on you, your clothes, or the surrounding area. That is great! I'd be a mess in five mins. Lol x
19:37 when you look into getting this very charming stove working again, find out about getting it raised up to counter height, so it's a pleasure to use. 💖🌞🌵😷
Oh Rosie, I could watch you all day long. You put out such interesting videos. Your little oven is so cute. Thank you for your hard work.
Priorities priorities! first basics heat...(in Sweden!) , light, water, food and then nice shelves and colours!
Totally agree - I live in Norway 😅 I
Oh wow , Rosie !!!!
I like it when you talk to us while doing something. It feels like we are renovating the house with you ☺️
The work you have done in your kitchen is inspiring and when it’s all complete, your mind will be so much more peaceful. It’s renewing to be completely done with a single room.
It's impressive stuff, seeing you build and work on your house!
The ceiling looks so much better!
You’re such a strong woman! Congrats to you
You have the patience of a saint! That sage green is beautiful as well. Stay warm!
I LOVE that sage green colour!!! I love it so much that I would paint the door and the window's frames in the same colour ❤
But it's a personal choice, I mean mine.
How fun to get to start on the 'pretty' stage of things. It so lifts the mood. You've worked so hard and made such wonderful progress.
Really loving your videos, Rosie. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us.
Yup, need to call the guy still. Will be curious to know how much it would be
@@wildrosie if it’s reasonable and you can afford it get it done asap
Yes, please do! It will do all the difference to get the stoves burning. And that fallen birch tree will make the best source of heat, for free!
The chimney repair must be a priority so you can have warmth. Your whole disposition and the environment will change 💗💗
Your kitchen is so bright and airy. The plants are a great touch. Thank you Rosie for another great video. Take care !!
I want to add some to my compost, the rest gets to stay! Moss is great btw, I don't much like grass haha :)
@@wildrosie i love that you compost it, looking forward to watch your garden grow, DO you have plans to be selfsufficient,? greetings from Åland 🇦🇽
You are an inspiration. You made your home totally gorgeous
Don't give up on the roller for future ceiling painting , just a little less paint loaded on the roller and you'll be fine. Regardless your job with the brush looks great 👍
Love it when you post on a Sunday morning, starts my week off perfectly! Batteries now recharged and ready for the week ahead, full of Rosie energy:)
Video released just as I'm looking for something wholesome and inspiring to end my day. Thanks Rosie!
Rosie I so enjoyed watching this weeks project so Loving the ceiling and finishing over by the old stove I so admire Your talents
Be well and many blessings to you
For what it’s worth, I love your stove and oven. It adds a bit of old world charm to the sleek Scandinavian kitchen.
I just binged your entire series…I am AMAZED at the transformation! You are so talented! I look forward to watching more!
I had exactly the same wood stove in my croft. It warmed so nicely and I could also cook on it. so my advice. Prepare the chimney. worth investing in.

Thank you for explaining about the original chimney. Now I had my own former chimney mystery explained!
I would definitely want to get the chimney working again to use the fireplace as it is meant to be, and that lovely wood cooker!
So so lovely to see you so excited .. and you have every right to be. Such beautiful work. It's looking wonderful!!
Rosie, i am so glad to see another video of you and your lovely home🥰 you are doing AMAZING!🥰👏🏽 you have a lovely positive attitude and you seem a really beautiful soul❤️ you CAN do this! I have every faith in you to take on your next project 💪🏽🥰 it must all seem so hard and so depressing at times, but always remember how far you have came when these times hit you ❤️ keep us updated with how you are doing, not just you working hard as like us all, there’s times when you just don’t feel like doing anything. So don’t feel pressured into always having to show us content of you working hard. As there will be lots of people like me who will just like to see how you are doing and how life is living in the woods😊 my heart breaks for you having to be cold though ☹️ i hope some nice sponsors help you out with things you need, tools, large lawnmower 🤗 and possibly help to fix your chimney 🙏🏽😊 you never know, there could be some REALLY nice sponsor watching who will help you with some nice things to make life a little easier for you through winter😊 look after yourself always 🥰❤️❤️❤️xxxx
Beautifully filmed…loved the first scenes of the moon and nature. Also love that your videos are real no fake click bait etc but showing how a person can do and learn and grow while being an everyday human….mess accumulates and tidy up is needed, some projects get held back based on budget etc…the realities of life…I look forward each week to your videos….can you show us some of the local traditions for Christmas? Also love when you do some food related recipes…canning etc.
It turned out SO beautifully, not only do you have a great eye for design but the skills it takes to make it happen, I would say that’s something to be very proud of and thankful for❤
I absolutely 💯♥️your ability to press on & be your own Instructor in Carpentry skills.
The kitchen door would be beautiful painted yellow. Just seeing the sunflower against that backdrop
Hi, Rosie. I like what you have done in the stove corner. The kitchen is looking very cozy😊
It's fascinating to watch your progress unfold. What is so amazing is that this is all your own work and you put such a lot of effort into everything you do. I love seeing your home grow more beautiful every time.
I like the natural look of your grass.
You teach me that little by little I can renovate my little home ❤ too!
Yo Rosie......that sage green and finished up timber looks amazing.....you're a star!!
"Work like a pro, clean as you go."
Looks so much better! I love your stove - not ugly at all!
You are an inperational one woman show! You work so hard on your beautiful home. I love your home, and your natural surroundings are soooo beautiful. Thank you for sharing all this with us. Blessings and love from beautiful Autumnal Devon, England. xxx
Rosie, when I watch all the hard work you put into your videos I often wonder if you're getting a good night's rest. I can't wait until you start work on your bedroom and make it super cozy and comfortable.
The sage green is perfect
yay another fave video🤎🍁🍂looks like wisconsin, where i’m living, without the little red houses🤎🍁🍂
Love the sage green color. The shelving unit sounds wonderful. Can’t wait to see it?
It's all looking good, Rosie.
I Love the Sage Green, and I think your kitchen is beautiful, Rosie!!!
Well done Rosie. Every little bit makes a huge difference.
Lovely viewing. You’re a star!
I’m so impressed with what you have accomplished. I’m really enjoying watching the progress and seeing the changing of the seasons. I live in a very populated area and your little house and lovely garden and forest is so beautiful.
Wow the sage green is so beautiful!
Rob

Can tell you're getting really good with the new camera set-up! Such a beautiful video. Oh and congrats on the kitchen progress
The ceiling is beautiful and now so is the whole kitchen.
It all looks very lovely, and the feeling of a "Home" should really be there by now. I think that the primary thing now would be to get the chimney fixed, so the stove can be used - it gives a lingering and cozy heat, and saves you on some screaming when the electrical bills arrive during the winter...
The music you choose is the best of any vloggers I watch. Thank you for the therapeutic experience while watching you be so brave!
Your kitchen looks so much better for your hard work. I like the sage green. I had a vision of a cat with you in your cabin. I know it would be impractical and a tie but so cosy.
It's like DIY ASMR.
My sound went out 😞
Very cheery space your kitchen!
