Rosie, You should be monthly building birdhouses. If you build one or 2 a month by the end of the year your woods and land will be full of birds which will benefit your garden and land and become a wonderful source of joy for you birdwatching. This is what you do with your tiny and small pieces. A great winter project also. I look forward to seeing your progress. Happy building and progress and lots of Joy!
What I find most amusing about you and your video's, is how you often proceed from one random project to another, because you feel like it. And I think that's amazing, because i believe that truly is what keeps you going so steadily. You focus on what your mind wants to do instead of plowing through one thing continuously. Progress might feel slow at times because of that, but before you know it, you manage to finish one thing after another for a massive feeling of accomplishment. And Rosie, what you accomplish is so very admirable. I wish one day I can find my way to do a similar thing. I'm usually a lurker and silent viewer, but I've been here since the release of your very first Story video, and watched everything ever since. It's kind of like living a dream life through someone else. So thank you Rosie, and I wish you the very best with everything that comes your way! Greetings from the Netherlands. Zweden mag in haar handjes knijpen met zo'n aanwinst!
Hi Rosie. Long term fan here. A tip if you don't know already :) Many old nordic apple sorts can be stored for sometimes month and months if spread out on paper in a cold room. They cannot touch. Taste will keep developing very nicely. My grandma used to do this. Love from Denmark.
Unless you live in Sweden and have so much scrap wood that it’s interfering with your ability to work on other projects. So she brought the scraps to the sorting station so others could use it to keep warm, to cook with, to build with. It’s called generosity.
As for the left over scrap wood. Many years ago my son was introduced to 'whittling' by his Grandfather [lots of YT tutorials]. He started off with wooden spoons and now we have little mice birds, vines, flowers and bugs adorning the wood frames and supports of the porch bed frames and the stair rail etc, treated or untreated wood is good for this. They are not perfect, you can buy the perfect one's machine made but to me everyone of them tells a story because my [now adult] son and his Grandad [long gone now] spent long winter days making them and telling stories as they did so. It also greatly adds to the aesthetics of functional mundane wooden items.
Rosie, what a beautiful post! I want to tell you how much I appreciate what you do. I look forward to seeing what you've been up to and delight in the artistry not only of everything you make, but the movies themselves. Your posts are small movies that take us through your days in such a beautiful way. Your property is now a beautiful home. I am calmed by your posts. Your calm is catching! Thank you so much for the beauty of you. I hope you have a good couple of weeks.
Rosie. At the end of the video - when putting the last window in - even the tape you put on the glass of your windows to protect the glass looked uniform. You really do pay attention to the details and how you do them. I thought it was a design on the glass then realized it was the tape 😂❤
Am I the only one who loves the little shapes that the tape made on the windows??? I know it would be unnecessary and a lot of extra work, but these days, we dont make things as pretty as people did in the past. I love looking at all the intricate details of old architecture. It brings me so much joy.
Upfront it depends on what you make, and assuming not small items trinkets like jewelry boxes or cutting boards, pieces smaller then elbow to finger tips probably best for firewood (species depending). But agreed it is always the mental argument “I can definitely use this somewhere”.
Yep! And that is why once in a year i head to my (non professional) wood shop to sort out, and then (almost) every piece of wood under 40cm (16 inches) has to go (into the oven). I always feel better after this.
This episode should have been captioned “ Rosie and the Wood story” 😃 I just love it when it’s Rosie and her to -do list. Thanks for a wonderful video🙏love all the way from India.
Sunday morning starts with watching your video as soon as you show up, coffee in hand and cuddled up with the cats on the sofa. You are the most talented woman I know. In the woodwork and tool handling department I mean. Gee! If I didn't see you do the work, I could swear you have a team of carpenters hidden in the woodshed!
Storage done, much fire wood, windows in place : winter can come, you are ready 👏, and you even have a friend to chat with sometimes on cold winter days, by the fire, drinking something warm, eating pies, isn't that wonderful ? 😊
I’m here at 1:00 am unable to sleep due to the very unsettling situation in my precious America. Your video is calming my grief and feelings of despair a bit. Thank you for that. ❤
Throwing wood away, is like throwing money away, look at all the wonderful things you can do with them, you can make candle holders, picture frames, bird house, bookends, planter boxes, wooden spoons, etc. Sometimes, just gluing the pieces together will give you many options. Keep making videos.
You are so precise in everything you do, even your list is written perfectly. There really isn’t any reason to get rid of your wood yet. You still have a few projects to do and you just never know you might need tiny bits. Thank you for always showing me how to do things with intention to do it the best possible.
Good Morning Rosie. I love your beautiful videos. You should be so proud of what you have accomplished and you will be nice and warm, a lovely change from your first winter. We are all proud of you, you are young woman who did this by yourself. To all young girls , you can do what ever, just go for it.
I admire your tenacity and talent so much! I make RUclips videos in a similar spirit as you about my life in the remote west and am renovating my tiny home. You do such a beautiful job capturing your journey and I'm always so impressed with how much you seem to get done every week (along with filming and editing everything!) I laughed when you were talking about how tricky that box was turning out to be - i feel like every project seems to be like that for me :) I seriously wish I could sit down with you over a cup of coffee to talk about all the things! Thank you for sharing your story with us. Sending love from my corner of the world to yours 🧡
You going through the garbage bag of scrap wood to take out cute pieces is literally the story of my life. Jars, bags, pots, wood, you name it, if it's cute it's staying lol.
I get so excited when I see a new video from you. The shot from above showed the great changes you have made to the outside. Seeing you make a list and accomplish wash task is so satisfying. The wood sort was a big job. When I see the views at night with the lights shining out the windows it’s so peaceful warm and cozy feeling. You have made yourself a beautiful home and life. Thank you for sharing.
You are a star - but with a healthy dose of "reality" - So much to do, so little time - and yet - you go for the cute way, the 'best way' to complete 'your vision' - so real, so strong, so right!!! All the best, I hope you cam shrug away all that the winter can throw at you and emerge stronger, into the new year!!!
16:41. But but but.... you have a wood burner! You can stay warm even with these small pieces... don't disregard them as waste! Darling... I Like your videos before I watched them even... You are amazing!
I'm sure you are tired of hearing how very talented you are...but you certainly are. Your channel is such a joy for me. Your home is adorable....you have done so much to make it your own. Thank you for sharing!!
Ohh… It’s so strange. As the months go by since discovering the channel I feel quite familiar with this little forest house. And seeing it improve bit by bit gives me a satisfaction I can’t quite describe
It's a perfectly wonderful thing, to not want to get rid of something and find a new way to repurpose it. I love this skill so much, it's better than recycle.
Perhaps you could store some of the pressure treated wood under the bench on your deck for this winter? Or maybe even under the deck itself? Thanks for another lovely video. I especially enjoyed the shot of the wind in the tall evergreen trees. Your work is so very creative, not only the building projects, but also the filming and editing of the work you are doing. It's very calming and soothing and I look forward to each new episode.
It is nice that you chose green! In contrast to the iconic "Falu red" of the outer walls, the traditional shade of green used for Swedish cottage doors and widows is a deep, muted tone, often reminiscent of forest or moss green. I prefer a darker shade, but that is a matter of choice, of course. Red and green are considered complementary colors because they are opposite each other on the color wheel. When placed next to each other, they create a vibrant contrast, making both colors appear more intense. This relationship is often used in design, art, and fashion to create visual interest and balance. Complementary colors, like red and green, can also neutralize each other when mixed in equal proportions, resulting in a more muted or brownish color. This concept is rooted in color theory and plays a key role in how we perceive color harmony. This earthy color harmonizes beautifully with the natural surroundings of Sweden’s rural landscapes. It is not a bright or vibrant hue, but rather a subdued, timeless shade that complements the rustic, natural aesthetic of Swedish cottages. This particular green has been a beloved choice for centuries and continues to adorn cottages across Sweden today.
I really enjoy watching your videos, with the beautiful photography and capturing the natural light. The wind blowing through the trees makes me feel like I'm out in the countryside. Thanks so much for sharing.
Hi Rosie! I wonder if it is possible to use the little pieces of wood in the 7 bags for burning/heating? Also I cannot get over the cuteness of your porch and bench. Lots of love!
Dear Rosie, I have been enjoying your videos for quite a while. Ever since you first looked for places in Sweden. The many building projects are so inspiring for a young woman to do. Some of your projects needed more complex tools and you have done so much with what you have. The videos show how you have successfully planned and produced very useful and needed items. The porch you just finished is wonderful and the sunshine in the mornings will be a joy to have. Looking forward to your next project. God bless and good bye ~Debi in Ohio, USA
Seeing you peel those apples reminded me of my grandma. She used to dry the peels and then mixed them together with dried rosehips to make delicious fruit tea in the winter.
You have a good supply of wood to keep you warm through the winter my dear , the feeling of f a fire when you sat In your home drinking coffee or tea ☕️
Dear Rosie, soon there will be snow and the roads will be covered with ice, so you might want to change the tires on your bike to studded ones so you could ride your bike to get groceries in winter too. Here in Norway, many people cycle all year round. Greetings from Norway!❤
In Greenland we do not normally have trees (accept the project they started in South Greenland). We save all the woods for repairs or future small projects. Love to see all your house projects ❤
I love your videos so much. This was a real fun watch. That gorgeous soft green you are using really makes the woodwork sing. I am thrilled that you have made a friend to sit on your bench with. Looking forward, as always, to your next update.
How inspiring you are, Rosie! I can imagine a whole generation of young women following your lead. Thank you for the interesting, entertaining, and visually-delightful videos! 👍😎🇨🇦🙏🧵🛠⚙️📷✏️
I just love watching your videos, they are so calming. The way that you use everything that you can, and how you pay such attention to detail. It reminds me of doing outdoor work with my dad when I was small. Wonderful memories.
You are the epitome of self-sufficiency and resilience, I think. It has been such a joy watching your adventures and feeling proud as a woman about how multi-talented you are. Have a wonderful winter ahead.
Hi Rosie during inside winter days you could use the small remnant pieces to create holiday decorations and miniature houses ect for all holidays. Then sell on consignment in town or online. You could call your line Rosie’s Remnants.
Your struggle to "throw or keep" made me laugh! Yes, do keep some of the cute pieces for decorating small areas, because your house already looks so much more inviting with the creative touches. Love your photography in this video! Many Hugs, Krista
Hi Rosie: I was wondering if you can show us your greenhouse, give us an update on how it was growing the last season, and what changes you would make. I would so appreciate it! Thankyou, huge fan from New Jersey. Caroline
It all looks soOOOooo CUTE Rosie! It MUST feel good to have accomplished all that you have done. You can continually look outside your windows and smile as you sip a lovely tea. Your galette looked DEE-LISH! Isn't it a blessing to have all manner of projects done and yet to do, fruit to enjoy, 3D printer to play with...never stop counting your blessings my dear...for they are abundant! Thanks for sharing...health an' blessings. I really think you would enjoy tackling the attic space! :)
"Battening down the hatches" for the winter! The doors look so pretty, the wood piles so tidy. I would love to see those birch saplings gathered into a basket to decorate your cozy indoor room. I can almost smell the firs in the fresh air. Thank you for your healing videos.
Hi Rosie, I came across your channel a couple months ago. Today I have finally caught up with all your videos. It has been a breath of fresh air watching your progress on your cabin. No I should say home sweet home. Also to see yourself come out of your shell, I have had many a chuckle to myself with your hummer. You are going to be a inspiration to young woman. I cant wait for the next page in your journey.
For me, you combine creativity and execution and you have both qualities in a top level. I also love your sense of aesthetics and the music that you pick for the videos. I admire you from Spain.
Watching you sort the wood could’ve been watching myself lol it’s the curse of having a creative imagination, we can find a purpose for almost anything!
I know winters are always harder for you but at least as a viewer I always enjoy your autumn/winter videos the most. please bring us along to grocery shopping next time 💙
Oh goodness… another person like me that just can’t not simply get rid of any size wood without trying to figure out what else they can be used for .. 😂… it spirals and a new type of wood storage begins 😂 Never throw good wood away .. there is always a use … if not for you .. a neighbor.. a friend … another crafter or builder. I’ve never regretted NOT throwing even wood scraps out
Loved todays vlog. It's so satisfying ticking off lots of jobs. You could use those small bits of wood for kindling in your fire. Perfect way to use them up!
Hi Rosie! I've been so inspired by your strength / resilience / creativity and have since taken on so many little projects at home.. Thought id say thank you!!
Oh the delayed tasks. I spent all summer catching up on camper & homestead tasks also. I think Rosie is ready for Winter🌲💚🌲💚❄️❄️🌲🍁🌲. After watching you build a bench with paws, i was inspired to put paws for legs ,on a tiny woodstove im building for my live in camper. I am editing that vid now to post soon. Be blessed Rosie🙏🙏Its been 10°-14°F in Idaho already... Brrrrr😁
I actually love the way the painters tape looks on the windows at 28:40, beautiful detail if done properly. Perhaps that could be a project for your little pieces of wood…add some beautiful personal details to the windows…be curious how it looks from inside though?
Rosie, You should be monthly building birdhouses. what a beautiful idea!
Don`t forget Bathouses .
Build them and sell them to your followers
Agreed! It’s a great use of small bits of scrap wood!
… no should, but if she like too … see the different😊
Please use the small normal wood to start your fires with. Don’t throw them away!❤️
Came here to say the same 😊
I too was thinking that. So much of it is good kindling for starting a fire.
I have a hunch all those small pieces of wood, Rosie has in mind a wonderful project!
Oh Rosie thanks for giving us a peek into your life! Love your enthusiasm!
It might be treated wood, not all that good at burning
What I find most amusing about you and your video's, is how you often proceed from one random project to another, because you feel like it. 😊 en zo is dat!
Ha ha it amuses me greatly too as I’m the same and it reassures me to learn I’m not alone in my scattergun approach to projects 😂
Hi Rosie. Long term fan here. A tip if you don't know already :) Many old nordic apple sorts can be stored for sometimes month and months if spread out on paper in a cold room. They cannot touch. Taste will keep developing very nicely. My grandma used to do this. Love from Denmark.
Je zoe er een kerstliedje etc van maken of idd voor de haard
great tip!
You can never have too much firewood.
My dad used to say, never ever throw wood away. Even the tiniest pieces will burn. Goid for kindling.
You would still need to rid of the pesky pressure-treated wood. It's poisonous, especially the fumes when it's being burned.
@@charonstyxferrymaneven outdoors
That's what my dad and uncle used to say too. They used to keep even the shavings back in the day. Nowadays everything is poison.
She brought the wood to the sorting station. She used trash bags to transport the wood scraps. She didn’t throw anything away.
You really could use the little bits of not treated wood for making fires. I think that would work very well.
Yes
Wood …..is like gold! To keep you warm. To cook with. To build with. To enjoy the smell of. A treasure you can never have enough of!
Unless you live in Sweden and have so much scrap wood that it’s interfering with your ability to work on other projects. So she brought the scraps to the sorting station so others could use it to keep warm, to cook with, to build with. It’s called generosity.

Very much my thought.

@@Juliegriffiths1 genuinely thought the same, I thought Rosie created a winter pattern 🤣
Same here❤ it looked so pretty like little wooden encased window decorations around the edges of each pane of glass🥰
Everything looks so nice❤
Great Job!🎉🎉🎉
These videos bring my blood pressure down ❤
YES YES YES, I can't even express how I look forward to Rosie....

I was thinking the same thing! They look like a quilt design. 😊
Me too! I thought it looked rather Christmassy !
Me too, they are lovely!!! Love peace and wisdom for this world of ours!!!!
I did as well.
Keeping small bits of wood . . . a bane of all woodworkers.
Yes, I often hand paint little things on them, encouraging words, flowers, busy work, exercising my imagination.
Upfront it depends on what you make, and assuming not small items trinkets like jewelry boxes or cutting boards, pieces smaller then elbow to finger tips probably best for firewood (species depending). But agreed it is always the mental argument “I can definitely use this somewhere”.

I hear you.
the (16:45) "Things have spiraled" moment is both the most relatable and hilarious thing I've ever seen in a Vlog.
Yes. I agree.

I have a list too! I am marking off my jobs as my body allows. "Getting old is not for sissies"
Your on screen persona and attitude are soo different from 2 yrs ago!! You’ve really settled into your life there! Love your progress!

This episode should have been captioned “ Rosie and the Wood story” 😃 I just love it when it’s Rosie and her to -do list. Thanks for a wonderful video🙏love all the way from India.
Ok Rosie, even your window taping looks like art. Also, thank you for the longer video. Great job on all your tasks.
Yeah, noticed the same, it could almost stay on over xmas time as some window decoration 😃

My favorite line, “things have SPIRALED.”
I know that feeling only to well‼️
Hi Rosie during inside winter days you could use the small remnant pieces to create holiday decorations and miniature houses ect for all holidays. Then sell on consignment in town or online. You could call your line Rosie’s Remnants.
You are so organized. Love watching your videos. Thank you.
Your struggle to "throw or keep" made me laugh! Yes, do keep some of the cute pieces for decorating small areas, because your house already looks so much more inviting with the creative touches. Love your photography in this video!
Many Hugs,
Krista
Hi Rosie: I was wondering if you can show us your greenhouse, give us an update on how it was growing the last season, and what changes you would make. I would so appreciate it! Thankyou, huge fan from New Jersey. Caroline
The sky is so beautiful. I love autumn/winter just for the sky colours.
Cold is coming.
Look! How decorative her taped corners on the windows are!!!
Love this episode so much, thank you Rosie. Such a relaxing and inspiring video. Appreciate all you do. Well wishes❤
I could watch you making things for hours! It’s very relaxing and educational. Awesome content! Thanks !
That color is a lot better than the blue.
Folks are right about using the wood to start fires, even the sawdust will break great to start fires.
What about using the scraps as your own Christmas decor maybe a wooden village?!
I know winters are always harder for you but at least as a viewer I always enjoy your autumn/winter videos the most. please bring us along to grocery shopping next time 💙
You can never have enough firewood 😀hope you have a toasty warm winter.
It is really nice to know that you have more nice outside space on the deck👍🏻
Oh goodness… another person like me that just can’t not simply get rid of any size wood without trying to figure out what else they can be used for .. 😂… it spirals and a new type of wood storage begins 😂
Never throw good wood away .. there is always a use … if not for you .. a neighbor.. a friend … another crafter or builder. I’ve never regretted NOT throwing even wood scraps out
Yes Rosie, keep the leftovers. I love your work. I enjoy watching your show.
Hi Rosie , love everything , it just gets better and cuter by the week !! ❤ Skyval ❤
Well I must say it is all coming together nicely. Been watching you since day one and look forward to each video immensely ❤
Loved your video this morning - so wonderful to see you complete your projects and preparing for winter...we're with you Rosie, love and thanks x
I look so forward to your videos. I am always a little sad when it’s over. Well done! I love making a list and crossing things off!!!!
Great video - the porch and doors look great - all I see is progress progress progress and beauty beauty beauty. Thank you for sharing your world.
I couldn’t relate more, watching you go through your scrap pile of wood ❤ I would react exactly the same way! I absolutely love your channel, Rosie!
