You are an inspiration to me and at 70 years old your videos have helped me to continue working on my house. Your steady work and determination have taken you far. My home is a super insulated home close to a passive design. Working on getting a garden for next year and storage shed to store all the materials and things I needed to build my house. All the best
We would all be very luck to have friends like Felix! I have a terrible time with cleaning up after/during projects. For me, anyway, it's just such a different -- and unpleasant -- task when compared to whatever it is I'm trying to accomplish. Having a friend share in the task makes it much easier for me to get motivated. So it made me happy for you to see Felix helping with such fun jobs: fixing a toilet, cleaning up the huge but understandable mess, and cutting fallen trees in the rain. What a guy!

What a very clever solution, to put that door on the floor so you can cover the hole! I’ll bet you are feeling a lot better now that the real toilet is fixed .You are doing such a great job on all your projects. I like that it is raining out and you are warm in that stone house. Thank you, Felix, for being such a great helper!
The corkscrew is used to leash a dog in the garden. It screws in the ground and then you attach a long leash to it. I guess it could also be used for other animals.
Living in a place like that, it's the same as busy for ever. Working in the harvest, cleaning the vegetation, chopping wood, and all extra work we don't see. I really admire you, Maya you are a warrior, and the good thing is you have good people around you.
It was good to have Felix there to help you out-glad the toilet is fixed. You must feel so good looking around you at all you have accomplished! Have a good week
Yeahy, here we go again! Missed you last week…coffee ready and go! Love your vids. Calm and peaceful. The perfect way to start my day. I could watch you every day. It’s amazing how much you’ve accomplished already!
Hi Maya, You have so many "half" pieces of wood you can probably make several sets of shelves to help you with storage. Also, storing things upright, leaning against a wall, takes up more space than storing them flat on a shelf.
Absolutely no judgement regarding those 2 rooms given your explanation Maya … perfect timing for Felix to be visiting … such a great help with all that needed to be done … thanks Felix! Good timing as well in harvesting before the heavy rain … Thank you so much Maya for making the time to edit your videos even when you are utterly exhausted … your commitment to sharing everything about your journey is inspiring ! don't forget to drain the gas out of your weed eater for the winter if you want it to start in the spring. Gas get old and breaks down rubber components in the machine. There is also a service kit available to make sure your machine is in tip top shape when you need it. There is a gas filter, air filter and new spark plug in the kit. Ask the Weed eater dealer about it. Also you will need a socket kit with a spark plug adapter.. Lefty loosey, Righty tighty is the key to removing the spark plug. Do this once a year at either the beginning or the end of the season. Drain all of the gas and run it until it will not run anymore to get all of the gas out of it. Takes a few minutes to do. Not all wood is good to burn. Some are more smokey. Some create more soot in the chimney pipe. Ask someone who sells wood for a living what is the best type of wood to burn. Dry wood burns better than wet wood. Wood should cure for a season before using. Dead standing wood can be cut and burned if dry almost right away. I saw a youtube video where a guy in Alaska said wood should have a mositure content of less than 15% water / moisture. He even showed the best way to stack it and it should alway be covered to keep it from getting wet before use.
It really doesn't matter which unused stuff you put in the far back when putting things away. The very first thing you need after finishing will be in the far back. And Murphy was an optimist.
with the toilet put the fiittings on the pan first and then lower the whole thing straight onto the drain, when you do it the other way and you try to push the pan back it moves the other fittings causing a leak,, good luck
No matter how hard things get for you, or if you ever become unmotivated to continue, just remember that there is someone down here in Australia that thinks you are amazing an is always wishing the best for you. Love your channel.
Welcome Felix, great to have friends around. MAYA keep cardboard for hardens and cut down on weeds .. once toilet fixed , silicone around toilet base, easy to open again just score silicone.
Hi, get some tool holders for the walls and get all your precious tool up off the floor. Wire racking shelves are also a godsend to organise all your stuff. Is the stream part of your property? Are you able to put a micro hydro system in it? It would be nice to have an alternative energy source for when your solar starts diminishing during autumn and winter.
That chainsaw chain is desperately crying to be sharpened. If you want to do that yourself I recommend the Stihl 2-in-1 sharpening tool. It‘s very beginner friendly once you‘ve bought the correct size tool for your chainsaw chain spacing.
You may have to re coat your water tank with some water sealer. If there are micro cracks in the cement and it is draining through, it may be causing damage to your foundation as well. I would drain it completely seal it and check the drain inlet and outlet for damage. Also you may want to check into some hydro-electic ideas for your creek and water tank as well. On rainy days when you aren't getting solar charge it can keep an off grid power bank full and serviceable.
Felix is a great camera man! 😅 I just love your videos. They put me in such a good mood and your happiness is just radiating. Thanks for sharing your positivity and optimism! (Although I know that it‘s not always butterflies and rainbows….❤)
Schön dass Felix da is und hilft! Gemeinsam schafft Ihr mehr! Hui. Was Ordnung an geht is noch definitiv Luft nach oben. 😂 Geil das immer wieder neue Projekte angegangen und abgeschlossen werden! 👌🏻👍🏻
May I make a suggestion… why not build a temporary wooden shelving unit to store tools organise cables etc in one of the rooms… a quick easy job for those cold rainy days coming up that will help you out a lot in future…
It must be nice to have a bit of a break from the challenging work for a bit. Even time to tidy up! I think most of us have a room or area that is hidden from others. Your squash harvest was funny. Glad your toilet was relatively easy to fix. It's scary when you have a leak! It must be good to have company, especially since you can relax a bit. I hope you have an enjoyable week.
If you can get some pallets & you already have lots of rock walls so build yourself some standing gardens with the rockwall at the back & pallets at the front leaving a gap in between then fill with twigs cardboard & lots of mulch you will find gardening so much easier & gentler on your back
Wow you are truly amazing, just watching you make me feel so good, you are truly an amazing women and very talented at everything you put your hands on God bless you, ❤llove watching your videos weekly much love🎉
Hi Maya! I asked my AI friend about your snails and slugs problem you’ve had and these are possible solutions: Physical Barriers Copper Tape: Place copper tape around pots or garden beds. The copper creates a mild electric shock when the snail or slug comes into contact with it, deterring them. Eggshells or Diatomaceous Earth: Scatter crushed eggshells or diatomaceous earth around plants. The sharp edges can deter slugs and snails from crossing over. Beer Traps: Bury shallow containers (such as pie tins) at ground level and fill them with beer. Snails and slugs are attracted to the beer, fall in, and drown. Salt Traps: Place a small amount of salt in a container (be cautious, as this can also harm plants). Snails and slugs will crawl in and be deterred by the salt. Natural Deterrents Coffee Grounds: Sprinkle used coffee grounds around plants. The caffeine can deter slugs and snails. Garlic Spray: Create a garlic spray by steeping crushed garlic in water, straining, and spraying it on plants. The strong scent can repel slugs and snails. Encouraging Predators Attracting Beneficial Wildlife: Encourage natural predators of slugs and snails, such as birds, frogs, and toads, by providing habitats (like birdhouses or ponds) and food sources (nectar plants). Regular Maintenance Clean Up Debris: Remove fallen leaves, plant debris, and other hiding spots where slugs and snails can thrive. Handpicking: Regularly check your plants and handpick any visible snails and slugs. Dispose of them far from your garden.
It looked like the fittings between the WC & floor were the type designed to fit to the porcelain of the pan rather than each other. Your approach with the flexible is most likely the best long-term solution. They are produced in many lengths. So maybe a shorter version would fit.😊
Maya, thank you for sharing with us; your little paradise gives such cheer to the spirit. Enjoy! P.s. Have you plans to reinforce your hillside from potental mudslides?best wishes.
Good job as every time, but please, Maya, do me a favour and invest into some safety equipment. Seeing you working with the chainsaw without proper safety -pants and a faceshield scares me a lot.
An observation. A chainsaw should be operated between shoulder and knee height. I would respectfully suggest that you never cut towards your legs as chainsaws rip, not cut and flesh wounds are really messy.
I'm not sure using silicone on the toilet fittings (in the UK we call them pan connectors) is a good idea; they come complete with rubber seals and that's how they are supposed to work (although, in fairness, it looks as though you've combined more than one pan connector together which is not how they're designed to work which is probably why they were leaking). I wouldn't consider what you've done to be a long term solution, although what the answer is I can't say for sure, apart from continuing to search for a single pan connector that fits. Failing that, I think I'd try using a sleeve of soil pipe (just a very short section so it doesn't alter the length of the combined piece) between the separate pan connectors, so that they each seal against the solid pipe rather than the soft seal of the other pan connector; I think that's much more likely to provide a long term seal than using silicone. I'm loving your content though, and I'm really enjoying following your adventure.
Da Du englisch sprichst, wäre es schön, wenn das geschriebene Wort nicht auch in Englisch sondern in Deutsch wäre. Mein Schulenglisch ist schon 60 Jahre her. Ansonsten gucke ich Dir gerne zu.👍
You are truly an amazing woman. I’m 75 and I get tired just watching. Marvelous work you’ve done. You should be very proud! Don from USA.

Thanks for the sneak peek at all the work you still have in front of you 😂 you will have quite the palace when it's all done🎉❤
I'm soo so curious what your plans are for the second cabin! would love to watch a Q&A of you as well :)

Cabbage is one of the best veggies. I think it goes with everything! So versatile. 😊
You should get some big dustbins with lids to put the lime in. You can leave the bins of lime outside for future use.

Good morning from 🇬🇧 thank you for your video. I’m enjoying it over breakfast. 😃
I have a very similar toilet and my husband had a hard time installing it because of its design. you did very well!
Maya, I found you last year and binged so many of your videos. Love your progress but I do miss the longer videos.
You are an amazing person Maya! I love your land and all the very many projects you have successfully tackled there.

In the future, if you are going to put in a toilet flush to the wall, consider an access door on the wall of the room behind it…❤️
Sillicon party!🎉
It would be so nice if you painted the walls in the storage rooms and the stuff would look better
ALWAYS GOOD JOB 🎉PERFECTE

Hi Maya, is it my idea or are the videos short? Since they are my favorites, maybe I want more 😊❤🇵🇹
Yay!!! ❤❤❤
What % of that big house do you have left to renovate? Looks like it is in 3 or 4 sections. You're doing a great job!

Have you any idea how much your car could be worth. This is a classic and will be worth thousands. You could buy a decent van or estate car instead
Not so sure if this Opel can be called a "classic" 😂
