On a recent test drive of a brand new Land Rover,the salesman explained to me for 30 minutes about all the tech and how, with Bluetooth, he could change the temperature of the passenger seat while on the other side of the country. In what world is this a usable feature? He did not, however, know if the engine was supercharged. The new Defender may do off road well when new and all sensors are working, but treat it like this for 20 years and see if it still is on the road. Never has a car company so lost its focus as Land Rover!

@@youtubehand No, I had a 90, then upgraded to a 110 County Station Wagon, a 12 seater, which my current insurer wouldn't insure, because we potentially could have 12 in the Landy. Though in reality it would be a max of 3 adults, 2 children and 2 Labradors. Had to go to an insurer that advertised in one of the Land Rover magazines as a Land Rover specialist. Had to sell it because we went to America and not allowed to import it to USA, got a GMC Jimmy instead
Right! And they looked so much better! The 110 was my dream car for years, but all my cheap ass could afford was an 88 classic. Thing was still a beast off road. Heavier than all 3 of my Toyotas combined, but still a great truck. Now they have so much electronic crap the computer does all the driving.
@@rvtech101 here in the States we only got Land rovers for a few years back in the 1990s, The d90 and 110 were 1993 to 1997 (all gas 3.5 liters no diesels), I could never afford one and now a US spec landie 110 is well over 100 grand. The earlier rovers we got I think were imported here through 1974 but in the 50s and '60s there were so many good American 4x4s that were comparable You don't hardly ever see a Rover I can't imagine too many were imported here. Especially when you had the Ford bronco, The Jeep commando, The Jeep CJ5, The International scout and all the solid axle full size SUVs and pickups. That definitely was the golden age of 4x4s But I'm getting off subject. 15ish years ago I used to buy Range Rover classics which were imported here (from 1987 to 1995) for pretty reasonable price And they were an absolutely excellent solid axle 4x4's, extremely capable off-road for a stock truck and they rode nice for a 4x4. My only complaint was that 3.5 liter was a bit gutless in that heavy truck but all and all They were good trucks.
He’s have you seen what all militias in Africa and the Middle East use? They use Toyota for a reason. In the middle of nowhere you need the Least Amount of electronic and more mechanical. A Land Cruiser is repairable anywhere a defender can’t even be repaired at the dealership!!!!!
Literally the best wet off road surface you can ask for. This isn't "soft wet sand" is literally rough fresh still not rounded river rocks and this guy managed to fuck it up by stomping the gas.
For me, as the owner of an older and genuine Defender, the new model is an insult and a disgrace that doesn't deserve the name Defender. My Defender (for sure not the best 4x4 ever since) at idle would easily glide through it like it was just a puddle.
The repairs are going to be off the charts. These trucks are always at the shop with sensor, and gaskets issue, and don’t get me started on transmission problems.

Defenders are the most and #1 in off roading...but a toyota (a toy) and will never make it out...a wrangler, will definitely make it as well...we're talking stock, not with 37's like what I have or even bigger, stock...
The land Rover traction control systems are simply remarkable, non better. If they can make it so 95% of their cars can go half a million KMs without going into limp mode, blowing an ECU or taking a ride on a tilt tray then they'll be onto a winner!

Looks like he is having a bit of a problem. My Humvee in 2004 in Uruzgan province of Afghanistan had no doors, troops in the back pulling security and still was able to cross rivers and not get stuck. 🇺🇸
Good driver knows when not to spin the wheels. Too many people think give her more gas doesn't work all the time. Sometimes it takes a little finesse to get her to go.

Put it in 4Lo and drive slow but steady. Use locking diffs if you have them and still are having issues, which you shouldn't but it can't hurt.
