That's a lovely print! Does anyone know where to get the STLs for this? I think at the end you mention it is included with the printer, but Prusa normally shares all files.
I dread long prints, always fearing something going wrong..LOL.. BUT... I actually want to try this lil dune buggy. I am also not a fan of the SILK filaments, BUT, now, the one spool of pink/purple silk that was sent to me, I now have a neat reason to use it.. .Thank you for sharing this project. I know what I am doing later. Thank you. By chance, did you attempt to try making the black tires out of the flex TPU or just one of the plastics?
Same! Especially on a file that's presliced. I thought about TPU on the tires but just did PLA since that's what was preloaded. They turned out nice. Thanks!
I'm researching for my first 3D printer and i love to tinker. Of the Prusa XL vs MK4 that you have, which do you think works best for these types of projects like you did in the video? I'm deciding between XL, MK4, Voron DIY kit or a Bambu X1 etc. I like the idea I could make model cars trucks and trains and this is really making me more excited than ever to get a 3d printer.
I have none of the four printers you listed (yet), but I'm interested in all of them, so here's my take. Mk4, XL: Imo, that's an apples to pears comparison, it depends on how big of a printer you need (and you probably want a bigger printer than you really need) and if you want a toolchanger. Both Prusas probably require the least amount of tinkering/adjusting to get good prints out of these four. Biggest downside for me is the lack of enclosure to print ABS/ASA, but there are plenty of enclosures available. Voron: The typical consensus is to not get a Voron as your first printer, but I know people that did and it worked well for them, and since you like to tinker, it may work for you, too. But the hardware is just the one half of the build, you will have to learn Klipper and how to setup/config your Voron, which can be taunting at first. But once you have it well tuned, it will probably produce the best prints at the fastest time between the four. Bambu: I see the X1C as a middle ground between a Mk4 and a Voron. You get a out-of-box experience similar to a Mk4, but the form factor and speed of a Trident. And ofc you have the AMS, if that's something you want. I do hear/read more negative things about the X1C than the other three (very loud, wear of the X carriage, no user serviceability, weak layer bonding at default speeds, etc). These might not apply to every unit or be actual issues, but that's what I noticed. And if you'll primarily print PLA and PETG, the P1P is a good alternative, too. So, if you want a printer that (supposedly) just works and you don't need the built-in enclosure, I'd go with a Mk4 (which I'll probably do for my next printer) or XL, depending on size/if you want a tool changer. If you want to build it and dive into Klipper, a Voron (Trident imo) is the better option. If you want easy multicolor prints or filament backups and a fast machine (and you know about the potential issues), a Bambu printer might work well for you.
Hi Benny. I don't have a Bambu or Voron. Of the Prusas, I would recommend the MK4 because you will get it the quickest and the auto Z is amazing. It's worth waiting a little bit for over getting an MK3 or Mini. I love my XL but it was a long wait. This was my first car that I made and I am already looking for more. 3dsets.com has really great designs. Thanks!
@@ThomasS17 @tada3dprinting Thank you both for the info. I like the tinkering, problem solving etc more than anything. Which is why avoron kit interested me. And I'm happy to hear the good impressions you both have about the Mk4 and i think that's what's I'm going shoot for. We'll see. I could change my mind 100 more times before deciding 👍😄 thank you! Love the projects this channel has been putting out.
Everything snaps together. 3dsets.com has a bunch of files for sale that are larger. This mini one is preloaded on the MK4 usb. I haven't seen it on printables or anywhere else yet.
I'm just starting to print this one on my MK4, where are the instructions for assembly? When I go to the 3dsets website, it wants me to buy! Prusa accidently didn't send the files to me on the USB and provided them via a link.
I had a hard time finding the instructions too! Go to the website 3dsets.com/sandy-gift . Don't click any of the links, just swipe to the right. It's a slideshow and doesn't look like there is anything else there. But its all there! Hope this helps! Thanks!
Great project! It's great seeing these more complicated multi step prints.
Thanks!
Well one thing more I have to print when my MK4 arrives. My son will love this thing!
It's really cool! Thanks!
Oh, it has a manual. Thanks for pointing that out. Might have a go at printing this.
Nice job printing. That is also one of my pet peeves, instructions that are absent or don't have enough information. Glad you figured it out
Thanks!
Cool color!
Title says XL but video is about MK4
Thanks for catching that. I'll fix it

I haven't seen them anywhere other than preloaded on the USB. I'll keep looking. Thanks!
Looks great
Thanks!

Set seam to rear in prusa slicer. The seam will be in the back.
Thanks!
Awesome. Definitely would print this for my son. Though I don't have tpu for the tires
I was thinking of doing TPU for the tires but I printed first in PLA and they look great. Thanks!

@@tada3dprinting Wow! Thank you for sharing that site! Any other sites that sell similar files but for different car models?
Awesome !
Thanks!

You wouldn't download a car.
I get the RIAA reference, but I think open source cars will be a thing. Aptera may be the first.
