We are having the same table convo here. I’d vote for separate as conversations at one big table tend to be only with those close by anyway. Enjoy. Your vlogs really inspire me! No rain for Thanksgiving!! We’re in the OC!
GREAT point. I also voted separate. Easier for guests to do the things they need like get up to go to restroom, take a needed call, etc

For Thanksgiving, you have to do one big happy family, so please keep the tables together. In my opinion, on an event like this, I find it difficult to choose a table to sit at when separated because I don't want to miss out on any of the family conversations. I find that I end up not enjoying myself as much. What I love the most is the combination of the older and younger generations' conversations with each other... PRICELESS!!! 🧡 BTW, congratulations on the cookbook!!!
Congrats on the cookbook! It's a huge undertaking. Excited for the Sweet Potato Biscuits! For the table positions, I feel like I'd prefer the long configuration. The width space is limited either way. Add in chairs and I feel like it might get a bit chaotic and clunky. Especially with people moving to sit down or go for second helpings from the buffet.
A COOKBOOK!!! I have been praying for YOU to write a cookbook..my prayers have been answered🤩. I loved this video and I was laughing so hard, because you sound just like me. Sisters from different mothers I'll tell you. My two cents... two tables placed diagonally COZY and really nice for a family Thanksgiving (my opinion). With a long table you never will know what they are talking about at the other end. I made YOUR corn pudding last year and I was the Belle of the ball. This year I will be doing YOUR Smashed Sweet Potato with the Maple Sage Butter, another winner that I'm sure of. As usual you made my Saturday here in sunny South Florida. Love you Beth!!🥰🥰

Congrats on your new book - Looking forward to watching you put together and seeing the end result ,
one suggestion since you entertain quite often - your best seating space seems to be between the two buildings , so why not get rid of the in-ground planter beds? for greenery in the area add more potted plants because those can always be moved when you have a gatherings, but then you will definitely have more seating space to comfortably sit down, move around, and back up, and not be worried if someone’s gonna fall into a planter, etc., (And you have plenty of in ground planters back by your garden.). Good luck with the book!!!
2 separate tables. As a guest, I like/need to be able to move around. Easier for guests to get up to go to the restroom, stretch or take a needed phone call. P.S. I’ve been wondering if/when you’ll do a cookbook!! I’m so glad you’re doing it!! I’ll definitely be purchasing!!
oh, Mrs. Beth.. i'm following this channel for many many years (almost I'm crying) and you are unchanged! The same smile, the same vibe, the same love us! This community has known the art of a fancy menu or the variety of a table-setup many years ago, when weren't shorts, stories or tiktoks. . I have to apreciate again your fresh smile and those ultra white teeth which inspire cleanliness and determination for us too, for planning and doing like you, like a pro.

I vote for two separate tables. Six people could talk to each other, but 12 people from one into the other cannot.

So true about those traditional dishes .One thing that my mom and my grandmother made ( probably my great grandmother also) was a dessert topping for pumpkin pie . They called “ hard sauce “ butter , sugar , whisky , a few other things . It has the texture of ice cream. But oh boy you can taste the alcohol. Have you ever heard of it Beth ? Corn pudding sounds perfect.

Regarding the tables' setup for your Thanksgiving Day Gathering, although one big table is nice, I vote for the two separate tables set diagnonally. It makes for more intimate conversations with a smaller cluster of peeps, there's more room around the table to get up & move around, and heck, if someone wants to switch places for dessert, that's an option as well. I hope this helps you decide....it'll be a Wonderful Time whichever way you decide. Congratulations Again!
Sign 👏🏼 me 👏🏼 up 👏🏼 for your cookbook!!! Over the moon excited for you. I’ve never been disappointed by one of your recipes, so I know your cookbook will be fabulous.
I know one long table has better symbolism-it’s reminiscent of the first thanksgiving, there’s something heartwarming about sitting all together, etc. But in my experience, whenever you have more than 8 people at a table, there tend to be multiple conversations going on anyways. And for the people sitting in the middle, they often get torn having to decide which conversation to join, making them feel like they’re not part of ANY conversation.
I think you’re better off splitting up the tables. It makes the space less feel less cramped, provides more room to walk around, and is better for table conversation. Plus, you have a whole cocktail time before the meal to allow people to chat and mingle if they are not seated at the same table.
Remember this: no one is going to leave Thanksgiving thinking, “I wished we had all sat at one table,” but they will leave the meal reminiscing about the discomfort of dining in a cramped space. Just my two cents. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out!

I am beyond excited for your cookbook! I know you've been considering it for awhile and waiting for the right time. Im glad that time has arrived! I know you must be a mix of exhilarated excitement and apprehension, but the rest of us KNOW, without doubt, that this will be a resounding success for you! We can all hardly wait. ❤
It's fun to watch you make your preparations. I had a feeling you'd end up with the "Birthday Party Placement" - that's how I think of it. I know you've long since decided, but I'd choose the separate tables. It's easier to navigate and six people deep is about the furthest you can converse anyway. It will be beautiful and memorable whatever you do, simply because it's you and it's family.
Mrs. Meyer's Lavendar is my fave, too! I especially like it in my bathrooms. There's a toilet cleaner to match and I sometimes just splash a tiny bit in the water to diffuse the scent throughout the room, especially before company. I also like their Acorn Spice for fall and their Iowa Pine and the Peppermint for Christmas!

You tablecloths don’t need dry cleaning. Just ask the dry cleaners to give them a good press. Looks great!❤❤
Why don’t you get some hooks installed ( husband? ) in the sunny seating areas and get some of those awning/ sailcloth things, you can put them up or down when needed, my sister does this and it works perfectly, much better than umbrellas. We’re in Australia so very sunny. That’s wonderful about George.
A cookbook sounds fun, exciting, and exhausting. Lol. I love it when you share your prepping for occasions with us. Maybe move the tables away from the steps. A little extra walking room. Then again, separate them gives more room, and they're still close enough to chat with each other.
One family table is my vote and we swap seats for dessert to talk to others

What you called an ice bucket is actually an very old “Beer Stein” and most likely German or a remake on one. But, it definitely is NOT an Ice Bucket!!!
Also, 1 Big Happy Family. If you want to separate the tables then do another table and put the “Appetizer’s and the Cheese Board” out there or even a Drinks Table without the big “Punch Bowl”. I would do really nice Plastic Pitchers (Large Clear Ones) with little signs on them with a coordinated table cloth and maybe a nice bucket of some sort “Full of Ice with a Scoop” and all the glassware. Then, If you need additional “Drink Containers” get the ones you can fill that are Glass with spouts and a stand of some sort. I normally have 4 of them and 2 have Decaffeinated Iced Tea in them, another has “Lemonade” or some sort of “Juice” that has no carbonation in it. The Final One has “Iced Coffee” in it. I normally make the concentrate myself of buy several bottles of the “Starbucks Unsweetened Black Coffee Concentrate” which I fill about 3/4 of the way up and then add Cold Water to it to lessen the strength a little bit.
How exciting! Hope everything goes smoothly and hope you enjoy the process. I know you'll handle those deadlines like a champ given your planning expertise as seen here haha. I think the 2 tables turned towards the other way like an upside down 'V' might look better, praying for a dry day!

Right now your recipes are printed out in a binder and i love seeing all the different things I’ve made thanks to you. Your cookbook will get a lot of use in my kitchen I’m sure. I say separate the tables. We had our family Thanksgiving yesterday due to family visiting from overseas. We had over 40 people. When you’re sitting at those long tables, you really end up only talking to the people sitting closest to you. Otherwise you end up talking over other people. Plus, everyone can move around the tables better.
This is the book I've been waiting for! Loved this video and George's update ❤. I vote for separating the tables for ease of navigating the are with plates full of food.
