    • @redvinesron
      @redvinesron 2 года назад +49

      I've heard it used as a negative word to describe people as well. Like for instance, the sister in Pride and Prejudice who says "What are men compared to rocks and mountains?" I think her name is Mary. Homely is a word some may use to describe her. It means plain, uninspiring, not out of the ordinary, not very special, average... Not that I find her to be so. But that's how characters from the book she's in might.
      Idk. In the US you wouldn't describe someone as homey unless you mean to say you feel at home around them or they feel like home. But if you call them homely, it's hurtful. Same for actual homes.

      I recommend turning it into a community lot. Any kind will do. Then put all the things that are too big or impractical to have in a Sims house in one space. So I certainly don't love it, but I do think they tried to do some unusual stuff with that build, and I appreciate that. I like the little private garden, I love imagining one of the grandparents wanting to keep the kid out of their vegetable plot. 😂 It also felt like it was supposed to have a pool, but they didn't get pools out in time.
      I renovated it a lot when Dream Home Decorator still kind of worked, and I enjoyed it. I think I just love how multigenerational the family is. I play with a foster care mod, and you can choose Sims to adopt the children, and I always give the Spencer-Kim family another kid or two - mostly because Alice pops up first on the list, but also because she's childish so I'd think she'd be a fun mom, and I wish both my grandparents were around when I was a kid.

      I think the developers should leave the houses as is. As it is more fun to renovate them yourself or download a replacement house. Besides they made them basic for low end computers to play in them. As well they certainly must know now that there are tons of people that enjoy renovating them.

    We use Homeynto describe a home that's cozy, warm and just feels like it's a place you have lived and feel comfortable in.
    Homely we use usually to describe a person bit can be used someone that looks ugly or weird. Comes from homeless

    This looks like all the new builds where I live in the Brisbane/Gold Coast region. It's so nice seeing builds that feel familiar to me, not so American.

    The black wall thing is interesting. In our annex we have a couple couches strategically placed in the corner of a small space. We took the dark blue rug out from underneath to clean, leaving the concrete ground showing and man, that space looked so much smaller. We put the rug back and it seemed spacious again.

    I really like that purpley/maroonish/plum whatever you call it color of the master bedroom. My motto when I was a young child was "it would be prettier if it was purple", and I still feel that way lol I'm glad you did this, I actually just moved in a bunch of random sims just to get some more genetics mixed into my legacy save (all the townies are long dead, I'm in gen 8!) and I felt bad having to put them in this EA build. I'll upgrade their house now so they can enjoy themselves!

    Hi Deli! This build is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your builds to the gallery! Sometimes I try to slow down the videos and follow along with you and James to learn building tricks in real time, but ultimately I am too lazy and not very good at architecture so I like a finished home 😅

    I like the build and these reworking old lots videos. I love the furnishing you've chosen. I'd maybe do this house as a two generation house with 2 entries just because of the mixed family. And elders would have rooms at the main floor so they don't have to use the stairs.

    Loved this renovation far more than the original. I really enjoyed the idea of sometimes catering to the townie family that lives there & other times just redoing it for any family to be placed there. I found the purple room very calming. The greenery really does warm the house up on the exterior & interior. I had a laugh at the part where you mentioned sticking the elders up on the top floor. I mean, it wouldn’t be funny IRL, but we don’t always treat Sims like we would IRL, so here it’s hilarious somehow. 😂
    I rather enjoy speed builds if it was really long, whilst shorter ones are fine at regular speed. Some people seem to have a bit of trouble with the actual speed as in how fast it’s moving, but I have no idea if that can even be slightly slowed or not. 🤷‍♀️ I am also glad these types of builds let you sit back for a second look yourself, because when you catch certain things, like seeing that something you changed had really looked good, you can use that in a future build. 🥰

    When I first went to move some Sims into this building, I thought it was an apartment building (did not know that was a City thing). I was quite surprised and disappointed to find out it was one Homely house. There is too much wasted space in here - that kitchen is ridiculously shaped - that island makes no sense (all base build, not what you did). I know they were going for modern minimalist esthetic, but my Sim got stuck behind the 1st floor staircase within minutes... BAD BUILD!

    I'm from New Mexico USA and now live in Colorado USA and talking about a house and saying "homie" isn't an insult. Means what you think it means, just warm and soft, cozy, lived in. But there are many different dialects in the US and I cannot confirm that it isn't an insult in other states.
