I'm not sure this review gives the complete picture based on another review I saw and what I have read on Reddit and the issues the G14 is currently having with Turbo Boost, something that Asus will hopefully fix with an update. You barely loose much FPS on performance with much lower temps, especially with a cooling pad. It would have been a more complete picture to see another mode, like performance across the 3 systems, not just Turbo Boost. Also, there have been more than enough videos about the horrendous temps of the G15 due to the pads that block the vents and general poor thermal design. I think from what I've seen elsewhere, the G14's thermals across all modes is much better than the conclusion on Turbo Boost the video is eluding too.
Fair point and thanks for the feedback. The G14 runs somewhat cooler on Performance, but I don't think it would have been fair to compare it to the Turbo mode on the M15, which is usable on that mode and offers improved performance. That's why I recommend looking at more than one video when researching your purchase, and we do get more indepth in the dedicated reviews, both here and especially in the article on the site.
Difference is 5 -6 FPS, so not noticeable. But the max q is better because it spends less power which means more battery life and less overheating. G14 is better because it’s portable and has the strongest CPU. The 5-6 less FPS shouldn’t be a deal breaker, you won’t even notice that.
I got more confused now what to buy, whether the g14 or the m15. Because I want a fast screen response rate and raw gpu power which there is in m15. As well as the premium built quality, superb typing experience and finger print sensor in g14. Speaking about confusion I don’t mean anything wrong about this channel. It’s one of the best channel for the laptop review. I went into more details about the laptop that’s why I am confused. If you dont really care about CPU, pick M15, Its doesnt have good GPU, but it can run a many games. If i were you, i will pick M15 for my laptop soon. Why dont pick G14? 1. The size is very small for a gaming laptop 2. Ryzen 9 with RTX 2060, it will be hotter than M15 (coz M15 use Max-Q version) Maybe this argument can help you to choose the other one 👍
The M15 screen is better than the G14. For some reason the ASUS G14 screen has some ghosting issues which can be annoying on multiplayer games. UltrabookReview is G15 240Hz screen 100% sRGB?
Go for g14 as it has better display for color correcting videos.
Kathe Gómez Which one did you end up getting? I play the same games.
Which one has the best thermals? was looking at m15 and lenovo legion 5. just dont like the numpad on it.
I just bought this laptop yesterday and it’s coming in ether tomorrow or Tuesday. I’ve never had my own laptop so I hope the m15 is good
hey man, can you tell me if you like the laptop or not?
@@froggysan5203 I have the m15 240hz model. It is awesome for gaming! The screen is super crispy. You see EVERYTHING! I did own the g14 as well and it was super portable. I did have issues playing a few Ubisoft games.
@@jazzmanematthews8376 thank you very much, that is good to hear ,unfortunately it isn't available in my country.
Greetings bro! Which would you choose between the G14 Ryzen 7 4800 with GTX1650 or the G15 Ryzen 7 4800 with GTX 1660 ti Max Q? Both from the 2020. Thanks :D
G15
The g15 has worse thermals and slightly worse performance
Im confusing with m15 and g14, i really like G14 but i scared the hot thermal blow into the screen. For long time i dont know what happen to screen? Anyone give me an advice. Tks
I have an old razer blade which blows hot air onto the screen. I haven't had any issues in almost 4 years now, so it should be fine.
Asus claim this is fine, and I also think it should be fine. Still, it's something I'm not fond of and that's why I'm warning people about it. If possible, I'd get extensive warranty that covers screen damage
So which is the better 15" over all?
for strictly gaming, can i get by with the 1660 ti version of the M15 or would the 2070 mq be worth the extra $300?
the 2070 should be about 25% faster in most games, but I'd look into specific reviews of the titles you're interested in. The 2070 might be worth paying extra for, long term.
@@ubrcom okay dope! I was thinking of paying the extra just to be safe as well. Mostly play games like call of duty, valorant, League of legends, and a few Indie games
Nice work! M15 if you want more editing , G14 for gaming
Just got my g14. Very portable and powerful. So sexy.
Can you tell me the temperature
Someone mentioned that the screen 30ms lag is noticeable and annoying, can I know have you noticed it in any sort?
@Balsha 18 Is screen good enough???
Sanket Bhosle it’s sharp and pretty. Good colors
CutiePatooTie Wew I use a 20 dollar cooler on mine that I got on Amazon. It gets to 93 max under heavy load ultra settings
So should I get the base model 2020 M15 or the Zephyrus G14 1660ti model?
iFlameArts s M15, it’s way more worth it
@@brendonlim6327 MY M15 IS ARRIVING SOON :)
Would like to ask, so which screen variant should I choose for the g14?
Priority
Movies
Multi tab surfing + studying
Video editing/converting
Gaming
shadownightwolf 120hz 1080p - better response time helps
1080P 120HZ for sure.
120 hz 1080p better for gaming and good quality for editing
Both should be fine. I'd probably prefer the QHD for the better blacks and contrast, but I don't think that's worth paying the premium Asus asks for it right now
Why do need to activate windows on a laptop?
Is the m15 144hz colors that bad for watching movies ??
Nice..
Done buying G15
Did you like it?
Zephyrus m15 144Hz panel has 100%sRGB according to the website...
Is that a bad thing? I'm fairly new to gaming laptops sooo
iFlameArts s it's good. 100% sRGB means accurate colours.
can u please compare the 2021 versions? i hear the G15 2021 is now the best
Check out jarods tech. He compares loads of gaming laptops. And yes the g15 2021 is a solid choice
Please compare Zephyrus G14 with MSI GS66 STEALTH
G14 over stealth
Crazy helpful. Thanks!
how much of a difference is there between 1660ti max-q and rtx 2060 max-q (except ray-tracing)
Difference is 5 -6 FPS, so not noticeable. But the max q is better because it spends less power which means more battery life and less overheating. G14 is better because it’s portable and has the strongest CPU. The 5-6 less FPS shouldn’t be a deal breaker, you won’t even notice that.
Balsha 18 And the difference between rtx 2070 super max q and 2060 max p for the M15?
@@brendonlim6327 I included a 2060 max-p laptop in the charts, for reference of what to expect from that sort of a configurations.
Its none sense when its all sold out and nowhere u can buy one.
well isnt it because intel chips draw in way more power than the 4000 amd chips, so they would blast off if they dont get proper cooling or something?
Good one! M15 vs S15 would also be better.!
that's coming as well
@@ubrcom That's legit cool.!
Thanks for the content! Not sure i you have mentioned earlier, but the keys are the same size for the G14 and G15?
Yes they are
Is G15 thicker than M15?
fractions of a mm thicker
@@ubrcom oh ok thank you!
I am an engineer student as well as a pro fornite, apex legend and pubg gamer where each each FPS matter a lot. I have to travel a lot so I can’t be in my ideal home with my setup gaming. But I do want have a gaming laptop where I can play games where ever I go. Please suggest me a laptop. I really liked ur channel sir. Keep it up.
Same with me, iam in confused to choose between that two machine for my college. Meanwhile iam need for game triple A on compact laptop or looking for best typing experience, but really think again, it depending your need actually. If you a content creator which one need a powerfull CPU, get a G14 (coz G14 be a jack all trade for multicore and best for rendering). If you dont really care about CPU, pick M15, Its doesnt have good GPU, but it can run a many games. If i were you, i will pick M15 for my laptop soon. Why dont pick G14?
1. The size is very small for a gaming laptop
2. Ryzen 9 with RTX 2060, it will be hotter than M15 (coz M15 use Max-Q version)
Maybe this argument can help you to choose the other one 👍
The M15 screen is better than the G14. For some reason the ASUS G14 screen has some ghosting issues which can be annoying on multiplayer games. If you want the smoothest experience of the three you'll have to pony more money for a fluid experience with the M15. The screen lag is the only thing holding the G14 back, also no webcam
@@newzinski6946 I have already bought g14 sir. I am from India and mine laptop is also a indian unit. Now I cant replace it. Sir, can I get nice screen response time and higher fps if I hook up to an external monitor.
@@newzinski6946 please sir reply me as quick as u can. I will still try to replace the laptop if I can't get nice response on a external gaming monitor and nice fps.
@@yashsawkar2982 Best bet is the USB-C port on the laptop. I don't think it will be able to reach the max HZ fps but if you may help with some of the ghosting delay in the 144HZ monitor of the G14
cant believe the g14 came out so sad the thermals and battery is ridiculous. My supervisor has one and thats a laptop that would actually benefit with rbg lights cause u cant even see them at night and the screen randomly goes black and the bios restarts by itself and its loud while on idle
I know everyone says it’s cheaper to build a pc than buy a laptop but damn those gpu prices lmao
Is m15 good?
(Positive performance)
yes
Why does AMD fanboys get mad if the Ryzen Laptops do not get GPU better than a 2060? AMD is about price for performance, you are good with a 2060 for a 1080P panel at high frame rate and if they wanted an more powerful machine, they would get a desktop, so, why so salty? I dont get it, ill be getting the TUF 4800H + 1660ti, that is the best point for price/performance
How is the screen on the TUF 4800H + 1660ti in terms of color gamut and screen brightness in nits?
@@akshatbhardwaj2179 BAD AF but i won't be playing anything more that LOL in the laptop. So Im not mad at it
They get mad cuz IT IS A CONSPIRACY against AMD!!!
They should have AT LEAST put the full 2060 in there! Then the laptop will be even better for gaming, lol
And they also know that when that does happen(and it will) amd will blow intel out of the laptop market! I WAS going to get the new s17 zephyrus (2080 super max-q) as my first (technically second) laptop but I think I'll get the G14 to start.
@@UltraDXSASC Oh alright. Thanks for telling

Since last month my eyes are on the G14 but almost every people said that there are many problem, now im thinking about picking the M15. Can anyone recommend me whats better for a CS student who plays MOBA games And CoD Modern Warfare and Apex Legends
If you're into competitive games it's no contest. M15 all the way. Unless you plan to carry an external monitor with you wherever you go the laggy screen on the G14 will physically hurt you. As he said in the video make sure you go for the 240hz panel.
@@AlibifortheAfterlife Thankyou good sir I've made my mind im going for M15 xD with the 240hz and has a nice sRGB color gamut
I have the same problem, for school work the m15 has a short battery life and heavier a bit
@@magtotocarlkevin8717 you should also consider the fact that there's no extra SSD slot in the g14 but you do get extra ssd slot in the m15, however the g14 looks so good. I want the build and looks of g14 (along with the Ryzen 9) with the rest of features from m15
Great review 👍
The 144hz screen on the g15 is absolutely fine if you're a non UI designer. No need to worry about colour gamut.
60% sRGB panels look washed out and muddy to my eyes. the screen is probably one of the most important aspects on a laptop, and I'd rather pay extra for a better quality one
@@ubrcom fair enough. But to a normal person who uses it for gaming, ms office or whatever, there's no need to pay £200 more in case you're worried that the 144hz is going to show blues like they're purple. It doesn't.
@@xrich_ I agree, 200 GBP is too much of a premium. But I would pay the $100 extra over the 1660ti/144 Hz model for the 2060/240 Hz configuration available in the US
UltrabookReview I have the 240Hz 2060 Max-Q configuration and I love it.
Rich S Thanks for the info, I was a little worried but I’m not really someone that even owns any device with very vibrant or colour accurate displays so I doubt it would bother me. I recently ordered it so I was worried for a while
The only problem of G14 is its really HOT! I think you can cook egg
Get a cooler cheap. Reduces it by 10-15
all of them can generate nuclear rays (sarcasm). but still the g 14 is the hottest of the 3.
