    man, I didn't realize how much the game has changed in the past 15 years. the game seems so much more physical/violent in these throwbacks. hits near the sidelines, qb's getting hit half a second after the release, players getting hit when they're already on their way down.

      It's not, that was a huge slap in the face to everyone in San Diego. I'm not a Chargers fan but watching them play in LA compared San Diego is night and day. The fans in San Diego were loud and passionate. It was always fun to hear as a neutral party.

      I agree, there was really no benefit for the Chargers to leave San Diego, the crowd and games were always packed and hype about the game regardless of the situation. That’s what football is all about.

      Yep! I grew up in OC and my first NFL game was the game LT broke the single season rushing TD record. Dad bought me an LT jersey in the pro shop at halftime. Those were the good ol days.

    I believe this was the Same Year that the Colts also lost to the Chargers in the Divisional Round, because their WRs couldn't catch a lick. Those Chargers always had the Colts Number in The Manning Era.

    It's kinda funny. We always think about Manning vs the Patriots but we easily forget how badly the Chargers had his number when he was with the Colts. As Colts QB he went 4-5 against them, with 2 of those wins in the Ryan Leaf rebuild era. But after that only 2-5 including 2 playoff losses and a couple of the ugliest games of his career. But after he joined Denver he got a lot better against them

      Denver in that era was a way better team then the colts. One of the best defense teams to hit the field with a very good and healthy offense. Now Denver is lucky to have 1 healthy player per season.

      Yeah, let's not forget the Chargers were the Colts first loss in 2005-06 when they started 13-0. I'm a Colts fan and I spent the rest of that season rooting for the Steelers to get into the playoffs instead of the Chargers because the Chargers scared me. Steelers got in instead, and that's who knocked us out. Careful what you wish for. A year later I was so glad the Pats knocked out the Chargers, because the Chargers would have beat us and gone to the Super Bowl vs. the Bears (and probably beat them too).

      Shitty ownership was/is the problem. They didn’t like Schottenheimer so they got rid of him even after their best season ever. They’d trade their franchise guys, Seau, Rodney Harrison, LT, the list goes on. The ownership is still horrible as they don’t care about their fans. Lost me as a fan as it showed they only care about their bottom line.

    I remember Peyton tossing six picks, I remember Cromartie's 3 picks and that insane one.. I didn't remember that Cromartie picked peyton three times in SIXTEEN minutes. I didn't remember how close this game ended up being. I certainly didn't remember Darren Sproles scoring two return TDs. San Diego should have won by 50.

    Colts defense played amazing. Giving up 1 td and a FG when your Going up against rivers, Tomlinson, gates, and Neal when your offense through 6 ints is insane.

    This was such a crazy game. Colts still had chance to win! Also few remember how good this Colts team was. Only other regular season losses were a close loss to undefeated Patriots and resting starters in finale. Being one and done overshadows one of best to not win Super Bowl

    I would be interested to see which defense performed better according to fantasy football. The Colts didn’t have the picks or the same TDs the Chargers had, but they also allowed less yards and points.

    God that chargers team was loaded, think of how many great players were on that team, many that would go to other teams. Sproles and Turner were their back up running backs and would be great for other teams. Vincent jackson would be a consistent pro bowler for Tampa and cromartie would continue to be a good CB for other teams.

    Both of these teams had very entertaining and close games every time they played each other for a couple years there. I remember the following year in 2008, when a 4-8 Charger team left for dead in the month of December, managed to win out and win the division in the final week and host the 13-3 Colts. The underdog Chargers got the win that featured a lot of Darren Sproles making plays and punter Mike Scrifres pinning the Colts deep all game. If there was ever a game where a punter deserved a game ball, it was that one!
