Getting that interior out was really tough work, so delicate but you did great! Awesome work fixing that window and fitting it. Turned out super nice! Great work and great video! 👍🙂
I did one of these last year as an ambulance. Painted cream, blacked out the back windows, added a generic blue lamp and Corgi Commer ambulance decals. It is an uninspiring casting though as you say Martin. Cheers for the videos.
Another quality resto Martin I agree the model doesn’t jump out at you. Maybe a two tone with a colour on the bottom in red or blue would spark it up. All the best to you my friend. Cheers Chris 👍🏼🇦🇺👨🏼🦳🎯
Nice restoration in the end Martin, another case of a simple restoration or so you thought ending up as a pain in the butt restoration but the end result was an excellent job, nice save on the window unit too. I know what you mean when you say you weren’t really feeling it with this one, I thought it was just me that it happened too lol. Avery enjoyable video, all the best, Nick🐸🐸
Good save on this one Martin, especially the window unit. You make the detail painting look so easy too. A great finish as usual but I agree it could possibly do with a second colour to go with the white - maybe a grey roof and front panel would make it look a bit more interesting perhaps?
Thanks Richard, yes definitely would be better in the two tone but unfortunately I couldn't make my mind up on what colours or stye . All the best Martin 👍
After hankering for this casting, I too couldn't get excited while restoring mine. I had the opposite problems to the ones you encountered also found the suspension spring too short causing the axle to over ride it, glad to see the back of mine. Look forward to your next one..
That was very interesting build, that’s another great job, I learn every time. You struggled with that one, I managed to get a1/24 Ford Granada I took the screw out and it fell to bits, everything was held together with (wait for it) Bluetak 😂
Thanks buster, funny I have a couple of large granadas on my watch list . Sounds like someone got to yours first, I hope it works out for you . All the best Martin
I reckon you've done a nice job with that Martin, I think I'd prefer the bottom half to be light blue but it certainly looks very nice and clean, a lot better than it did before. Onward and upward, looking forward to next week's video. Take care. Peter.
Nice one. I always thought the Atlas vans had lean-on-a-corner steering, so something new again. Oddly, the finish on the starter model, apart from the glass, looked like something that would have been abandoned at the roadside! I am delighted to see it, of course, given recent correspondence: that puts me under starters orders! I'd have been tempted to drop the whole thing in WD40 for a day, but once you start filming... well, there's no going back, I suppose. I like that in white - it looks crisp, though you'll still have a chance to mask and add a second colour, perhaps round the lamps and on the roof? A matching caravan would give sleeping quarters and a kitchen for all those seats inside the van! Very nice, Martin: I shall have to watch myself...
The glass & interior was a bit of a pain to get out which you seceded in getting with your tools of persuasion on it.👌😉, really like the way you cut a descent piece of glass to fit in the one that you took out👍,I will try that procedure my self😎, I personally think you did a very nice job on the Atlas van for not “feeling” it, I myself have had that feeling sometimes also with modeling trains. But the Atlas looks a lot better now than it did before for sure, maybe a tu-tone paint job might would have changed the feeling you had (who knows)😉, as always my friend enjoy your restorations, take care.👋😎🛻🚙🚒🚚🚗, ps My wife & myself are recuperating from a automobile accident, coming along well , see ya.
Hi Jeff, sorry to hear you were both in an accident, I hope you a doing well ,and uam glad you are both still with us. I couldn't make my mind up about the colour and style of the two tone ,so maybe next time after further research, or ask my wife 🤔. You pair take it easy and my best wishes for a speedy recovery 🙏 All the best Martin
@@martindaredareHey, I do the same thing, when in doubt ask the misses😉they most of the time have a very good flare (eye) for matching tu-tone colors, and yes we are recuperating well ,thank you for your thoughtfulness Martin much appreciated 👍👋😎🙏🏻🚙🚗🚒🚚
You don't have to yell, Martin. I'm not deef! Just kidding. This one made you work for it. It came out nice in the end. I have one of these and I must say, it's not the most exciting casting. The paint looks nice on yours.
Hi Martin, strangely i have to agree with you. There was just something about the model. Great job with the window repair..😦😦This for trying to remove the interior 😨😨😨😨.
I put the paint on thick, because I'm like that. Made me laugh. Looks nice in white but I feel it just looks unfinished like it's ready to be painted. Good job Martin.
Looks really good now Martin. Funny looking little vans, those. I've seen a real one in a museum and they look odd in real life too. I know what you mean about not feeling that motivated about some models, but it turned out great despite it fighting back, not wanting to come apart at first.
looks to me like repainted with mom's nail polish, andthen they used acetone to wash it off again, that would explain everythign glued together. I have one GAMA model where they washed off the silber paint, and the windows were just about to start meting... but in the end, you won. :) looks nice and shiny again. ^^
Cheers Lothar, I think you are probably right about the nail varnish. ,hopefully soon the next one ,I can make my mind up about a colour scheme. 🤣 all the best Martin
Hi mate nice gloss but I see what you mean about it being a bit plain, they probably had all white ones in the day though. With that 2K stuff I don't know if you can paint acrylic over the top of it if you want to do a two tone. It might be like trying to paint acrylic over enamel instant crinkles. I know you can paint 2K over acrylic because my brother did it putting 2K clear over red acrylic but I don't think you could the other way around. Might be good to do some experimenting. That interior was a bit of a job glad you got it off ok and great idea with the window cut and shut. Oh well what ever you decide to do with it I'm sure it will turn out spot on. Catch you next time mate stay safe.👍🏻
Hi Geoff, how are you, my friend. No, I wouldn't mix them up .It's a bit risky, there was a few white one about ,mostly vans, though. It's not the most inspiring casting, especially when the interior is glued in . But I have just brought another one 🤣🤣 . All the best Martin
Thanks very much my friend, no I have mine on a shelf above my heater so it gets warm and the casting next to it ,but I have used warm Warter, when my heater ran out on me . All the best Martin
I’ve had a lot of issues putting wheels in caustic soda Martin - they sometimes literally dissolve away. Is there a secret to doing this? It starts out being a time saver not having to remove the axles but turns in to a nightmare where you not only have to remove them but find replacements.
Yes it's not the best thing to do ,but I found the old style dinkys are OK, the trick is let the costic do it's eruption first and let it cool then put the hubs in ,the corgi ones will probably go black and will need a good Polish, if you can avoid putting the corgi one in then it would be better. All the best Martin
That turned out smart 👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻 You're right though, it gets to be a chore when you've lost that lovin' feeling...... You're also right about the weather..... It's effectively a van body put on a car "chassis" hence the tucked under look of the wheels.
