Great restoration Martin. Black square decals do the emblem for the front. Also looking online at mint examples there seems to be another lever on the bar that you are missing. Also you are missing a small pair of wheels on the front of the trailer that fit under the guide wheels.

Hello Martin just been Watching your video on the scarab you have done a fantastic job. You was saying about the emblem on the front which is a decal you can get from model suppliers and the pin you removed from the bit that hook up to the cab hold the landing legs which has wheels. The coupling is actually called a scammell coupling... So as you unhook it from the truck the legs come down so you do have a bit missing. Keep up the great work Ralph Ps have a look at the corgi scammell scarab and your see the bit at missing 👍

The old man bought two of these with the box body on in LMS colours that he used in the garden for storage that had been used to run goods from Bescot to Walsall train station in the mid 60s,had great fun playing army in them and sleeping over in the summer (it always seemed warmer and sunnier in the 60s)till he finally cut them up,did see one running about at gkn Sankey in Bilston up to mid 70s,but great restoration again and looks like brand new.

A neat looking vehicle, as you said not much in the way of details, but very colorful 👍, I my self have never seen a vehicle of that nature here driven on the highways in the states,but I have seen small pick ups, cars at car shows and vehicle museums,military etc..that have that particular wheel arrangement, interesting vehicles (carefully driving them )😆again Martin other interesting restoration, you take care my friend be waiting to see your next project.👋😎🚗🚒🛻🚚

Hi mate, great job on the scarab scammell. A bit before my time but wow what a great idea very manoeuvrable in tight places and a very versatile bit of kit for all sorts of jobs. I popped over and had a look, good old BBC type of television production with the well spoken posh bloke commentating.😂😂 I bet the blokes who dove them didn't talk like that.🤣🤣 I popped over to Luke's channel and subbed, so I have another great channel to watch now. Really interesting toy, that, and quite a nice mechanism for dismounting the trailer. It is not as close to the Budgie Scarab as I expected it to be, but same principle - tab and one rivet - and quite surprising to see the guide forks on the back still in one piece, as well as the tailboard on the trailer. Not keen on the 'kid' colours, but then it was a toy, first, I suppose. I'd love to find one of those - a really clever little model. It sits well and looks right despite the wee missing bit - that trailer would fit on almost anything. I saw the Scammell film ages ago - it was such a smart idea, turning in its own length and being able to drag substantial weight, and I remember them running about rail yards in dark red and cream, when I was in shorts!. You've done that toy proud, Martin!

Hi Martin. I've always had a thing about the Scammel Scarab. I remember seeing them on the road when I was little. I particularly liked the pink ones with Pink Paraffin written on the sides of the box trailer. Sometimes Crescent Toys are stamped DCMT which stands for Die Cast Metal Tools. Nice and colourful yours is, and looks so much better with a load on board.👍
