The Director of Emilia Perez didn’t have to learn Spanish. He had to learn about Mexico and he didn’t bother.

He probably inside of a Taco Bell, and he thought, "This is Mexican culture."

Emilia Perez, I honestly can't freaking understand why this movie has more Oscar nominations than Casablanca, Ben-Hur, The Lord of The Rings, Sleepless in Seattle, The Revenant, Chicago, The Goodbye Girl, Amadeus (1984), The Color Purple (1985), Forrest Gump, Life is Beautiful (1997) and Schindler's List.
So, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is sending a message to the world that this movie is outstanding and has a higher achievement in cinema than Casablanca, Life is Beautiful and Schindler's List... Why ? The songs in Emilia Perez are at the same level as The Sound of Music, Chicago, Casablanca, West Side Story, Skyfall (Adele) and Beauty and The Beast. This is a sincere question to the members of the Academy... Why ?

Yes, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and SCIENCES. Too many of today's 'Stars' seem to forget that without the sciences, they might still be waiting tables. At 63, I've never watched the Oscars and the last time I remember going to a theater was about 20 years ago to watch a special showing of Casablanca.
0:40 I can't find it anywhere but there is an interview with Bette Davis in her later years (as she died in 89, this was some time ago...) where she was bemoaning the awards ceremony for a number of reasons, such as cutting the amount of time an acceptance speech could go and for relegating the technical awards portion to, as I remember her statement 'to the basement.' One line I seem to remember is about '...some beautiful man who invented a new camera...' who didn't get the respect he deserved. I think that most of her regret stemmed from the ceremony being televised and commercialized.
    Well, we'll always have Paris...

I am 3 minutes in and I had to pause and comment because I think you don’t know what a snub is. Snub is something that was supposed to win or be nominated by consensus pick but it was not. Emilia Perez getting 13 nominations is not a snub, do you mean “upset”?

Exactly. The snubs of this year are Nosferatu, Challengers, Wicked and other film which should have got nominations in the categories stolen by Emilia Pérez virtue signaling!

Stop with all the drama queening. Sometimes the Oscars get the nominations wrong. It's not wokeness (which by the way just means opposite of sleep. That is a good thing). Shakespeare in Love was a God awful movie. It wasn't "woke" it had Hollywood lineage and Harvey Weinstein on It's side. The Academy sometimes just sucks

Actress Fernanda Torres is the soul of the film I'm Still Here, talented, powerful and sensitive. They deserve the Oscar

You seriously think that over the top “yes yes yes yes” is an example of good acting? Seriously?

I think it started around the Iraq war when celebrities started making political statements at award shows. That’s when people started tuning out

One reason l stopped watching was the comments and hatred toward Trump. The movies became unwatchable. The jokes tasteless and l will stop there.

Most people don’t watch The Oscars anymore Too much politics plus no one has seen
    These pictures because they bombed
    But the main reason is
    They are too long
    And and. too boring

I’m tired of having the Hollywood agenda shoved down my throat. All the nominations for the Emelia Perez movie are just more of the same. I never watch any of the awards shows anymore. They’re just more super rich people lecturing us on what to think.
