It's just a weird thing is all it is, and considering how the comics handled it much better, it's no surprise that a film in today's age did Jessica Drew a grave injustice. In the comics, she had her baby boy, who was a year or so old, and she struggled to care and love him, whilst also fighting crime, but that's where her character shined and became so inspiring. Her son was to her, what Aunt May and Mary Jane (or Gwen Stacy) were to Peter Parker.

Yes it actually is but like everything that as to do with empowerment, it's for the elites benefit and not the masses... Just like how they want women to marry their Jobs and give their entire lives for the betterment of the board of directors and the investors, they want to cajole women no to bother taking leave when they get pregnant, they can still do everything... So why bother temporarily not working for 9 months, that's 9 months you're not using slaving away from us... I'm a staunch supporter of laissez faire capitalism but it's actually disgusting and that's why it's not common because people would see through the BS and start questioning other forms of "empowerment"...
Why do you think Biden asked for pregnancy suit for female air force pilots... As if he's encouraging them to go to battle whilst pregnant... I don't need to explain what gforce can do to a grown man not to mention a woman who has her entire nutrition and blood flow halfed by another human in her body... But no, give her a plane to go kill herself with so she can feel she can do everything...

I really like a lot of things about this movie. The focus put on Gwen was great imo. In the first Spider-Verse she was barely any more relevant than spider-ham, peni and noir.
All of which contributed nothing to the film aside from visual variety.
In this film she became an actual character and had some emotionally resonant scenes. Massive glow-up imo.
But yeah, one thing that makes this movie hard to judge is because it's (yet another) challenging fate story, which so far is unfinished.
    And exactly as you said.
Either Miguel is right, and Miles dooms his entire universe (which isn't gonna happen)
Or Miles will save his dad, beat the spot, and his universe will be perfectly fine, proving Miguel and every other Spider-Man in the multiverse to be a fucking retard, and that Miles is better and more righteous than them all.
I really don't get it honestly, because these films clearly appreciate Spider-Man and his mythos, and yet they are explicitly writing a story which feels like, once the finale rolls around and proves Miles right, it is meant to push every single iteration of Peter Parker over the years into the dirt to put Miles on a pedestal.
I am really unsure whether there is any way the next movie can play out, which is not gonna piss me off somehow.
And it's annoying, because this movie is actually like really well made and has a lot of great things about it, but it just picked a terrible narrative.
And again, as you said, the thing with Miguel bashing Miles feels like it's purely there for metacontext (as if people never complained about all the fucking clones n shit) because it doesn't really work with Miles clearly existing in the comics and a plethora of other media. It again feels like yet another way they want to put Miles on a pedestal, by implying he's some once in the multiverse anomaly that is the most special character in the world and should totally replace Peter as the protagonist of Marvel now.
Eh I forgot where I was going lmao. Good video in any case. I hope Beyond the Spider-Verse wraps the story up in a way that wins me over somehow. Because I really want to like it

Exactly! That's why I personally think that this is the worse Spider-Man film. Because they're going to destroy the integrity of all Spider-Men in existence just to prove that Miles is some golden child who absolutely deserves to be Spider-Man. That is some brutal BS right there😒 I don't know what they're going to do for the next film but they'd have to be astronomically on point the stick the landing

That’s a common misinterpretation. It’s not for selfish doing, it’s purely because Miles is taking the path that is morally the best. He’s been told all his life to not let anyone define his story, so Miguel comes along saying that some algorithm says no. Miles has doubts but ultimately think that’s not how it works, he even thinks it’s the Spots doing.
When Miles saw that world disappearing he was terrified. He’s taking the responsibility to save everyone. While Miguel has his doubts but decides to close his emotions and stick to the logic that some algorithm defines the world.
Miles was never selfish, he acted on morals. Miguel lost who Spider-Man was, and made the safest theory that their trauma were simply things that are supposed to happen, that ironically makes them lose their sense of feeling responsible for their loss.

So let me get this straight. If cacon events are things that are SUPPOSED to happen to every spiderman across the spider-verse, then why is captain Stacey from the sam raimi films still alive? My biggest problem with the canon event plot line is that it not only cherry picks what is considered "canon" by the films logic, but it undermines the reasoning why peter parker became spiderman in the first, "With great power, comes great responsibility". This also ruins the fun (but irritating) concept of the multiverse by which ANYTHING can happen.

no. "canon events" are a thing made up by that costumed vampire from the future. You don't or can't know that "Canon events" are SUPPOSED to happen. Otherwise you would only have White American Peter Parkers in each universe. But look at the Spider Building that costumed vampire... On Miguel and Jessica.
I would argue it makes sense that Gwen would joke around with Miguels name. He is a weirdly serious Spiderman in a multiverse of jovial Spiderman. Just a bit of bants. It didn't come off as emasculating or they were trying to say anything specific about Miguel. I don't appreciate not warning him of an incoming strike from the Vulture. For all they know, he could have an instantkill weapon and Miguel dies right there. That was some bad writing.
The reason the Jessica interaction comes off like a serious pander is because you can feel the writers reaching through the screen, using Gwen to scream at you LOOK ONE OF THE FEMALES BUT PREGNANT AND COOL. SHE IS SO COOL ISNT SHE. It also shows the incompetency in the writing, when back up is a single pregnant lady instead of a few of the near infinite spider people doing nothing roaming Earth 2099. Ultimately her being black, and pregnant plays no role in the movie so it's pandery but amounts to nothing. I don't know of that's more or less offensive to whoever that is meant to pander too.
Miguel went as far as destroying one of Vultures wings and a grew it back immediately. Tying up his wings would work but he would just drop them and make new ones. If not to beat Vulture quicker, having more people there to assist with civilians is a good reason to call for back up. Besides. Having fought one Vulture doesn't make fighting all of the easy. That's like saying, having fought vanilla Spiderman means you should beat Miles with ease. They have different abilities across the multiverse. It's like fighting a different person.

That would make him uniquely able to deal with some villains better than others. Not sure why the same couldn't apply to a version of vulture. It may be true that the tea cup stained vulture isn't that one but the characters don't know that. Writing them like they do for the funnys is sacrificing intelligence for some jokes.

Spider Gwen doesn't stay in the area to catch spot because she wants to hang out with miles, not because she underestimates spot. This is talked about in a later conversation with Jessica drew.
The fact that we don't see spot after he gains extra power is twofold: a) we need miles to be focused on his dad so we can get the explanation of canon events, and b) this is a part one of two. There is another full movie that will conclude the rest of the plotlines (hopefully). Sure, it would be nice to not have an exposition dump in the middle of the movie, but given the rest of the movie around that exposition is really solid and proves a lot for miles and the rest of the main characters, I think it's totally acceptable. Plus, not defeating the spot in this movie helps build tension and gives a small cliffhanger for what's to come.
Miles' universe not imploding is kind of a major plot point. Miguel does say hes been keeping miles' universe together, and if he does more it would start to break down. Its heavily implied, and a leading fan theory, that btsv is going to talk about how canon events are not necesary in the way miguel thinks, and miles can and hopefully will save his dad. Maybe because hes not a peter, maybe because of how he goes about it, but the main point is that it can be done.
Another point: the directors didnt create canon events. The existence of them started with the very first comics with every spider man having their Uncle Ben dying and the first issue being the exact same every time. These writers are poking fun at all the other writers copy and pasting the same story over and over. And no, this does not mean all the spiderman let people die, this means they have already experienced it and in their grief feel it is only right to force miles to experience the same. Paviter probably knew about the bus of kids and the police officer potentially dying at the same time, but he wouldnt have beeen able to save them without a separate spiderman intervening. It is, or at least was, impossible for every spiderman to save their uncle or police officer.
Also, "The movie ends abruptly." Yeah, thats called a cliff hanger my guy.

The cliff hanger wasn't as handled as well as it could've been. MI7 had a more effective cliff hanger than ATSV because it has an objective beginning, middle, and end, and it leaves room for more to be revealed and builds suspense for what is to come next. ATSV literally ends at the beginning of its final act with the main heroes going to rescue Miles, (and they clearly outmatch Prowler Miles and Uncle Aaron)and they all have the devices they need to send Miles back to his universe in time to save his dad from Spot, and we don't even know what Miguel O'Hara is going to do about it.

    • @emperorxero9626
      @emperorxero9626  Год назад +10

Ok I think you misunderstood somethings. Like when I was talking about Gwen underestimating Spot I'm talking about what other people would use as an excuse for her hanging out with Miles instead of catching Spot. Also she could have caught Spot then hung out with Miles and instead Spot gets away with even more power.
Next I bring up the Spot being phased out of the film because Spot is the main villain of the movie. As such we the audience need to see him as a creditable threat, but he spends the majority of the film as a joke. Then he becomes a creditable and he's absent for the rest of the film and your excuse is "Well there's another movie coming out so duh!" Like imagine if Thanos got the infinity stones in Infinity War but never used them because another part was coming out later. That's stupid. The people behind the film obviously couldn't properly deal with Super Spot and properly show off the massive amount of fan service that is the Spider Society. So, they ditched him for the time being. A lot of problems with production on this film left it in the state that it's in and you can definitely tell when something has even changed in this movie if you pay attention and Spot got put on the cutting room floor to make room for other things and it's sloppy to say the least. The heroes don't have to defeat him in this movie but again you have to showcase him as a force to be reckoned with.
No Miguel does not talk about keeping Miles's universe together he's talking about keeping the canon together as a whole and even then, he's speaking for the ones with breeches in them like with the indian Spider-Man.
Also, I have never heard of the writers saying that they were poking fun at the Spider-Man canon with the concept of Canon Event. If they were then that would be extremely stupid because not all Spider-Men go through the exact same thing but according to this movie yes, they do. So either the writers are just that ignorant or this is your own head cannon.
And you bring up the fact that more will be explained in the next movie but let me explain something here. This movie was never meant to be two parts. I was originally one whole movie but due to the producer's continuous changes and reworks this story has to continue in the next film and they don't have a clue where they're going with that. That's why it's said the Beyond the Spider-Verse may be delayed until 2025 possibly 2026.
Lastly I know what a cliffhanger is but this one was poorly done and you don't even feel like this movie wrapped up. It just ended. This whole film was just one big setup for the next film without an resolution to this film

      @kyleb7974 9 месяцев назад +1

@@emperorxero9626 I think this can answer some of your questions.
      Gwen not catching Spot:
Why Gwen didn’t go catch Spot first was probably because she had no idea where he was. She only knew where he lived probably from the data analyzed from Lyla. Hence why she stuck a camera where that building was. Then she hung out with Miles till her detector went off, and it was already too late. She was basically trying to balance the two, because finding him in New York might’ve been next to impossible.
      Writers intention with Spot:
I think the intention with Spot was still to add dread and show him off as a threat. The whole him being a joke at start was supposed to mirror the fact that he’s growing as a villain, and is the stark contrast to Miles. Much like Miles he started off lost and a joke. Then both proceeded to grow but differently, Miles did so through connections, but Spot did so by the connections he had lost by Miles. That’s why he goes from just trying to make a living, but when the person who ruins his life says how he’s not really much to him, that’s when he starts to get pissed. He develops from a joke, to threat, to overreaching villain.
It can split off into scenes. His introduction with the latter showing his true motivations which while pathetic because he can’t own up that it’s anything but Spider-Man’s fault, has an intense hatred for him that’s made bigger when Spider-Man doesn’t even show recognition for him. Then later he’s built up as a threat by Jessica when he explores the potential we saw earlier with his portals. Then Manbattan is where we see his growth hit. Because the intention of that scene was to build up Spot, previously trashed by Miles, now he turns the tables and makes Miles helpless by the end of their fight and tosses the other Spidermen aside like annoyances. Then comes his transformation where his mere presence destroys part of Manbattan, and at that point in the movie we are also supposed to believe he opens that black hole as well.
So in a sense the writers weren’t trying to not show off Spot, because they already did but hid his true capabilities that were hid for those to find after the movie. Like the 100s of dead Spider people under him. To make a better comparison it’s like Thanos but they show off one of his stones and the audience is like “Okay If that’s what that one stone could do I don’t wanna even imagine the rest.”
With Miles Universe and why it doesn’t get destroyed:
I think like the comment said, it was more of a plot point. Same with why Earth 42 is still alive. Miguel’s example is also flawed, he says canon are what defines each Spider persons lives but the canon event he broke doesn’t break any rules because that Miguel he replaced died by natural cause meaning he wasn’t Spider-Man. 1610 also had Peter come into their universe when their Peter died, plugging in Miguel’s logic it should’ve went to shambles.
Which is why canon events are hinted to be BS, even Gwen realized this when her father openly broke the rules by not being captain.
      Writers poking fun at canon:
I think the OP meant that they are poking fun at the narrative that Spider-Man is defined through trauma. What I think the movie is trying to go for is that while anyone can be Spider, what defines Spider-Man is perseverance, in that no matter the hardships it isn’t loss but how he preservers through it and moves forward. That’s why with Uncle Aaron he didn’t grow when he died, he actually grew when his father opened up to him. He isn’t defined by trauma or on a meta level, trauma doesn’t need to happen for Miles to grow.
The writers probably do poke fun at canon because according to the art book that states the intentions of the writers and directors. The movies are all about how Miles needs to charge forward and write his own story even if his story is similar to those like him. Which directly correlates to the main creator of canon events, Miguel who says that every Spider-Man is defined by these events that make up their life’s. Which means Miguel is opposing the message by saying the message is that “We’re all defined by what this model says about us all. If that’s what the model is, then fighting back is pointless if it isn’t achievable.” It’s basically all about responsibility, the movies message is that Miles needs to charge forward and write his own story and not let Miguel who thinks a model defines their story, change the fate. Kind of the question of whether fate is pre destined or if we make their fates, and it’s the latter. Miguel is all about control to keep these things intact, while Miles is free to roam because he doesn’t constrain himself to ridiculous concepts like that.
Delay for Beyond the Spiderverse was due to not planning it out:
I believe that was due to the animators. Lord and Miller apparently had a terrible schedule with animators, they’d be off for months but were then brought back for a full 6 days of 11 hours of work constantly for a few months and then many of them quit. The company couldn’t bear it. In terms of reworks. It was indeed reworked multiple times, but not for Beyond but for both.
According to Miller the original intention was to make it one big super movie but it wasn’t working for them. But once they figured that they could come to a good middle conclusion, they ended it on Across the Spiderverse. Which means Beyond the Spiderverse is already written cause they had the story, just didn’t know how to constraint it into time periods.

      @@Shhhhh183 I am saying the soundtrack is bad. Here is why I think that;
      The mixing sounds like garbage.
The actually talented vocalists (for the most part because of NAV and some others inclusion) bring out their worst performances to date.
All the tracks suck and feel uninspired, shallow, and lyrically empty, and additionally try to replicate other vibes of music instead of being it's own established project, such as "Am I Dreaming" failing at being a "Graduation" esque song. The only thing the songs accomplish is containing the corniest references to the film of the same name, which is a dumpsterfire of a movie.
The production is so generic and god-awful compared to Metro's previous endeavour, "HEROES & VILLAINS" and the previous "Into The Spider-Verse" soundtrack.
And finally, let's be honest. Name one person who came back to listen to this soundtrack album. If the album was that good, wouldn't it have another hit like "Sunflower?" (And I will add, Sunflower by itself is better than all the tracks on the Across The Spider-Verse soundtrack) It just proves furthermore that this entire soundtrack is so dry and just painfully sucks. Into The Spider-Verse's soundtrack is just so much better and really makes you feel like you are Spider-Man.
But that is just my personal opinion, what about everybody else's?

There's so much wrong with this film, especially with how they've depicted and wrote Peter B Parker and Jessica Drew (or Spider Woman). Jessica Drew in the comics was such a compelling character, who besides the fact that she struggled to fight crime and care for her baby boy, showing him as much love and attention as she could, she also dealt with matters that would normally be too much for others, but not for her because her son keeps her afloat, as Aunt May and Mary Jane did with Peter Parker.
That is ALL absent in this film, and I honestly wish there'd be another film solely centered on Jessica Drew, where she is FAIR skinned and wasn't made the way she was here, and she's MORE human, rather than, again, how she was depicted in this film. Same goes with characters like Peter B Parker, who was more annoying with the way he wore that PINK bathrobe throughout the ENTIRE film!!! This movie is something else, man, and it's NOT "good". 🤣🤣🤣

The Spot did not go on his massive rampage to power himself up just to beat miles, if you where paying attention at all you would see that another big aspect of the Spot’s character is the desire to find a sense of belonging with other Spider-Man villains and prove that his is a “worthy” villain so to speak. That was half if not most the reason why he wanted to power himself up, not just to be able to beat Miles.

My biggest problem was, I was really hoping to see the Spectacular Spider-Man version inside this film but once I saw him, and saw what his role was, I was so disappointed. Like even upon first watching, I didn't like that, and I really don't like it after thinking of it more and more. My favorite Spider-Man, and he's just doing nothing but excepting fate. Instead of fighting against it with the "heroes". I didn't and don't expect him to be a main character or anything. But I'd rather have him not be here then have him doing what he did. That was probably my biggest issue honestly. I loved that version of Spider-Man.

I honestly didn't even think that Girl was the Spiderwoman I played in the old games I thought it was just another variation stretching the idea of the Multiverse
I might come with a more in-depth talk about Canon events and what I think about that but for now I just simplify it with they might be misunderstood or no one has the will to try when they believe such a regime is the truth for such a cost that is so high maybe Miles is that will and will learn more about Canon events or him being an Anomoly will let them change Canon Events without issue at least in their own world or Anomoly world because of how it exists
I personally think if it was story wise and Peter Parker was killed vs Miles more people might actually care than you say because Peter is bullied all the time in these comics and them being iconic and memorable makes this "Oh another day of the comics" vs Miles might be more shocking
Now if it's a complete replacement then yeah you would have more merit in your argument

Spider came in from another universe and bit Miles, changing the course of his actions, leading him to the collider, it's kind of a butterfly effect.
So if there was no outside influence he wouldn't have "been there and be the reason spider man dies aka disrupting the canon of spider man not dying there", to me it all makes sense.
And Miguel even knew all of this - now my viewer speculation is that he was "huh so the spider did not cause that universe to collapse because its spider man got replaced by Miles, very interesting, need to observe" until Gwen and Miles quadruple fucked up for the movie to happen
What's more interesting is that we hear nothing about indian spider man universe - they all came and did some quantum containment bs and it just got fixed I suppose?.
So you can save the vip and then you just have to fix the tear in the universe which they seem experienced in dealing with lol
Like okay Miguel didn't know shit about it and his universe was gone, but now he learned how to fix this and has this whole interdimensional organisation just for that it seems.
I assume it doesn't work like that but they didn't tell us it doesn't, a single line of "this universe is now super fucking unstable cuz of you and we have to watch the tear 24/7" or some other consequence (I mean up to the universe getting destroyed as they've told us) could've been enough
    ---
And also people like the movie specifically for amazing animation and the action, the shitty story is only part of the movie, for which some people care more and some less.
The animation and action and your condescending "they made a bunch of filler spider people and you fell for it" carries it hard.

You didn't understand the movie, I'm going to break your points down, line by line:
Point 1: There's nothing wrong with replacing the phenotypical features of a character if they mean nothing to the story. Calling her tokenized doesn't make her a token character. It's an artistic choice, there was no social commentary on her race at all, the only thing that was commented on was her pregnancy which even you admitted has been done before in the comics, I think this is a case of you just having something on your conscience that you're taking out on the scene. Also, she's a spider woman, there are already many things that don't align with reality in these universes, you're telling me you believe there is a web-slinging, wall-crawling, woman, but you can't believe there's a web-slinging, wall-crawling pregnant woman. Let's be real. The whole point of the first movie was that ANYONE CAN WEAR THE MASK, there are multiple versions of every character that ever existed, so the Jessica drew you know and love still exists, you're using the same arguments as those who didn't like Miles at first.
    Point 2: Diversity doesn’t equal “anti-white”.
Point 3: Gwen is Spider-Woman, if you know anything about Spiderman, he’s supposed to be funny and quick-quitted, that would be the same for Gwen, she was like that in the first movie as well. You just want something to be mad at.
Point 4: The spot doesn’t know how to use his powers, that the whole point, for the start of the movie, he’s like all the other iterations of the spot but the movie puts a creative spin on the character, and reveals his true potential of someone with that power. There’s nothing wrong with that, I don’t see how that’s an issue. The only times he’s incompetent with the powers are when he’s first learning to use them or he doesn’t have enough spots. They didn’t get rid of him, he went away to get stronger super colliders, you know, because they destroyed the one in Miles’ universe in the first movie.
Point 5: Miles’ consequences in his day-to-day are very real, he has to balance school, he has to balance the fact that his DAD IS A COP WHO ISN’T VERY FOND OF SPIDERMAN SO HE CANT JUST REVEAL THAT. There’s also the conflict of Miles not having many friends outside of his roommate because he focused on going to school for physics where he can find a way to be able to visit his friends who can relate to being spiderman. So it’s not some fake issue trying to copy the parkers. These are issues anyone would have to deal with in Miles’ shoes.
Point 6: No consequences, the point is that is the consequence if you watch the whole movie, the grounding keeps getting longer as Miles breaks his parents’ punishment. The last this his parents say is, to tell Miles that he is now grounded for 5 months at the end of the movie. If you weren’t so focused on hating you would notice that.
Point 7: Your’re point that Gwen wasn’t doing her job is the whole point. The movie lets you know she wasn’t supposed to do that, we all know that, the movie doesn’t try to convince you otherwise, she wanted to see Miles even though she was told she couldn’t that’s the whole point.
Point 8: “With great power comes great responsibility”. That’s very true, but ALL SPIDERMEN HAVE MADE MISTAKES, THE WHOLE PLOT OF SPIDERMAN IS HIM MISTAKES AND FIXING THEM. THE LITERALLY THE WHOLE POINT.
Point 9: Miles follows Gwen because one he likes her and two he wants to join the secret task force she told him about and wants to know more about the things she talked about with Jessica Drew.
Point 10: Canon events, THIS IS PART ONE OF TWO PARTS, OBVIOULSY MIGUEL IS WRONG ABOUT SOMETHING, OTHERWISE MILES WOULD HAVE NO ARGUMENT. LET THEM EXPLAIN WHY IN PART 2.
WE DON’T HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION, THAT IS THE ONLY REASON THE MOVIE COULD HAVE MILES BE IN THE RIGHT AND TRY TO SAVE HIS FATHER. LET THE MOVIE TELL ITS STORY COMPLETELY BEFORE YOU CRITICIZE “PLOT HOLES” THAT YOU DON’T KNOW TRULY EXIST.

    1. I get Miguel had a terrible traumatic experience, but, it doesn't mean he should be a controlling jerk
    2. Ben Reilly being way more of an edgelord than he already was in the comics
    3. Hundreds, if not thousands of Spider-People/creatures blindly following Miguel's orders
    4. Unnecessarily overweight Spider-People
    5. Race-swapped Jessica Drew
    6. Jessica fighting crime while pregnant
    7. Peter knowingly taking his baby into dangerous situations
    8. "Spider-Rex"
    9. Spider-Punk's entire dialogue being "down with capitalism" and similar annoying junk like that
    10. Constant member berries to other better Spider-Man related media
    11. Alternative Miles being the Prowler was completely predictable
    12. It's part one.
    13. Going by the first movie's logic, Miguel should've glitched out of the world his alternate self died in. The ENTIRE UNIVERSE wouldn't have glitched out of existence because one person screwed up.
    Pros
    1. Interactions between Gwen and her dad
    2. Interactions between Miles and his folks
    3. The unique art direction
    4. Spot actually being a terrifying and formidable villain by the end
    5. Spider-Man India
A friend of mine got annoyed at me after we saw this movie at the theater. He asked what my thoughts on it were. I said "eh." He flipped out and hid in the restroom. Another friend who was there wanted me to apologize. I didn't understand why I needed to. If I thought the movie was "eh," then, those were my thoughts on it. The movie isn't over; the 'ending' was a cliffhanger. The very idea that an entire universe will unravel if one person doesn't die the way they're 'supposed to' is perfectly ridiculous. This post-modern approach in writing is referred to, I think, as 'META'. Or... because comics.
Unlike Deadpool these characters don't know they're in a comicbook universe, but YOU as the audience, are meant to.
Multiversal travel? Also because comics. Predictive 'canon events'? Also because comics. If you are unwilling to make this leap, then stay home. This movie is, in itself, a commentary on long-form comic book storytelling. And you can't talk about comics without using the words: TO BE CONTINUED.
All of the points made in this video are absolutely valid. I doubt that 'beyond' will stick the landing. But I am here for it.

Personally, I didn't hate 'Across the Spider-Verse', but I didn't love it, either. I did think the Spot was cool (I kind of liked that he was a goofball and also a threat; it was an interesting change-up); I have a bit of a soft spot for Spider-Gwen, so I liked that we saw more of her here, and as someone who's always found Spidey 2099 to be awesome, I'm appreciative that Miguel is finally getting some mainstream recognition.
That said, this movie does have issues. It is SEVERELY overstuffed, and way too frenetic for its own good. I had similar complaints about the first film, though, in retrospect, they did actually manage to pull it off decently well - but with 'Across', they bit off more than they could chew. There's too much going on - there's Gwen and her dad problems; there's Miles and HIS parents; there's the Spot; there's the Indian Spidey and HIS personal problems which we learn about; there's Miguel's tragic backstory, which is clearly going to drive something in the future; there's the whole 'Canon Events' business, which is tricky enough to wrap one's head around just on its own; there's Miles' whole plan with the daring escape, which really kind of seemed like 'oh, crap, we need a twist right about here', and then, finally, there's the BIG twist right at the end with Miles in the Prowler-verse - and I'm probably missing a couple little bits, too. It's just overwhelming, and everything moves at the speed of light so you can barely keep track of it all. I still liked the movie decently well, but it's never going to be the sort of thing I throw on for a casual watch.

I'm confused because am I the only person who's come to the conclusion that the filmmakers are intentionally being weird about Canon Events and will fully explain or resolve them in the third movie? Didn't they say it was a two-parter? Because I feel like people aren't considering that Miguel is very much NOT an objective and reliable source of info considering his current mental and emotional state? It's very likely Miguel has gotten something wrong about Canon Events and hasn't realized or is in denial from the trauma of his kid being erased.

    • @caioaugusto1606

That doesn't make it any less of a problem. If the answer really is "Miguel dum", then all the Spider-People (mostly composed of geniuses) following him without question are automatically all as stupid as him.
Because there is no indication that he is hiding his research or theories from the other Spidermen and they outright defend his thesis against Miles, so it's all safe to assume they checked his data and all came to the same conclusion.
On top of that, the Miles' squad has absolutely no rational reason to go against Miguel, it's all emotional attachment to Miles, they don't even try to bring up a logical reason. So the resolution being a fault at Miguel's logic won't be a satisfying conclusion, because at no point was that something the movie brought up.
