I honestly don't see the comeback gals making the team, but at least for Chelsea and Laurie, that's not the point of it or their end goal. They truly love the sport and finally get to enjoy it on their own terms. I love it!
I agree, I don't see the comeback girls making the "team" not even as alternates (sorry!!!) If they exhibit amazing skills in any given apparatus, then there is the chance of snatching an individual/specialist spot.
I just want Chellsie to go, even if it's as an alternate. I so want this for her.
I agree she was cheated out of her Olympic dream!
If Chelsie gets chosen, I think she should be the team captain, and her daughter should be an honorary “coach.” (“Step in a lunge and kick”)
I wold love her to go. But there is alot of options out there. Like suni lee. Grace mcalem, Jordan chils even tho she can be inconsistant sometimes. Jade carey mkayla skiner, morgan gurd, rayli. I just wish they wold hade have a bigger team maybe 5 or 6 in each team that wold be great..

@@nickrachjames I disagree. She brings on more life experience, which I think the team could really look up to. Being a team captain should be more than just who can win the most medals.
I’d love to see a team of Simone, Suni, Riley, and Leanne. But I’m not going to be disappointed in any team of gymnasts chosen to go. So many of them deserve it. Hoping everyone has a happy and healthy trial process.

Stop this. I used to like kim but i think she’s adapted bella’s teaching methods and she’s using her athletes as an escape for a happy ending to her career, especially through composition/dance. Once the athlete can’t take the pressure, she tosses them out with no care and moves on to a new junior.

People asked why Emma went to this cup, was it for her Olympic dream?
It’s my theory that she had to for UCLA.
Their roster will be thick with talent this year and Emma has been injured, her D-value isn’t up there and she may be at risk of losing her acceptance into UCLA, like other Texas Dreams girls.
It’s really terrible to watch.
@@usagtea8072 I hope she has proved enough. if they make her compete to much she won’t even get to UCLA so if they want her as an athlete she needs rest and a new mindset/coaching environment.
Honestly I think it's the same training style like the russian figure skating issue. They are training on being as light as possible and when puberty hits and they become heavier but didn't develope the muscles it's over.
@@ghostplayer684 i totally agree. back in the 90’s elites were done when they went through puberty at about 16. that’s why after they went to one worlds and an olympics it was considered a “career.” kim uses the same ideas as bella so she’s not prepared to handle an athlete going through changes. unfortunately the athletes shes under qualified to coach are the ones who have massive potential.
@@gymcentric5727but this isn't just a USAG habit. If you look at the new german seniors you can see the same thing happening especially with the chemnitz girls. One main point why the age 16 rule was established in 1996 is that the girls are too young for these rough competitions and coaches shouldn't be rushing everything. Unfortunately with the juniors worlds you got this problem again. I would even prefer international competition not before the age of 16 and seniors only 18+ girls. This are kids. They should be thinking about their crush, school and friends. Not the olympics next month. In my opinion this is also contributing to the abuse because it's easier for coaches to manipulate them.
JORDAN CHILES is the strongest all rounder at the moment...I’m not saying the other girls ain’t amazing BUT Jordan is the only one putting her money where her mouth is currently ☺️

Grace - solid AA also with upgrades: Amanar (possible Cheng), Fabrichnova

Riley - solid AA, hopefully with better consistency now
Morgan - solid AA, hopefully with better consistency now
*love them both and would be happy if they make it on the 4-women team

Konnor (beam)
With 2 per country, Konnor on beam makes the most sense to me.
I have really enjoyed watching Konnor since I first saw her. But why wasn't she chosen for the national team?

Overall the Olympic Games are probably going to be a very messy competition because most athletes will be going in without enough competition preparation before. Probably lots of falls and errors...
Agreed! Classics are in May, Championships in June, Trials in late June and that's it.
@Alice hopefully. The worst case scenario is a competition like the Sydney Games with lots of mistakes, out of bounds, strange falls from all the favorites and bizarre organization failures and meltdowns.
@Alice You should go back and watch the 2017 World Gymnastics Championships. You'd probably enjoy what was the worst competition of the quad.
My team is Simone, Lee, Jordan and Carey, individual, McCallum and McCusker.
Like most people, I think Simone and Sunisa are locks.
The other two spots will depend on what they decide to do with Jade (team or individual). If they don’t use her for the team , it open the door for someone like MyKayla/Grace (maybe even Leanne) who are strong on FX and VT.
I could see Riley or Morgan making the team, but not both. In which case, I’d prefer Morgan.
Theres so many gymnasts going to WCC recently!
Suni is in no way a lock. She should be. But if the Olympics happened last year, she wouldnt have gone because of her leg. She is also having issues again, with her legs. At camp she only did bars. Her ankles, leg, prior injuries are affecting her on and off. If she is healthy, she is def a lock. But her legs will be the telling factor. Her health will be the deciding factor.
I watch both McKayla and Chellsie's RUclips channels. Neither of them show full routines, but it's blatantly obvious that Chellsie is WILDLY better than McKayla. Harder skills, sticks them, much more consistent.

@@elizabeth568 I don't think that'll make a difference for Chellsie. It's not like she's forgotten how to compete, plus she has an edge since she's worked as a gymnastics judge.
Sticks them? It doesn’t count if she’s doing it on soft mat and not doing it on competition surface, mykayla has been training and competing on competition surfaces and I don’t think we have even seen chellsie put together full routines, she’s just doing skills separately and not in full routine
@@bryanthan9363 you see 15 minutes from her every week so in reality none of us know what she's putting together,she has said she won't be showing routines and has also shown us her working with a choreographer,plus her experience is a huge benefit..don't write her off just yet.
@@Jac-Jay I never wrote her off in anyway but you certainly made claims that state chellsie is better than mykayla and that is just not true. Mykayla is recovering from Covid and she at least has verified vault at camp. I don’t even think chellsie has competed a full routine in competition setting or whether is she capable of doing so. She just recently got back her hindroff, double front, maloney and tkatchev. She’s far from even putting a bar routine together. On floor, she hasn’t even tumble onto competition landing yet and to make claims as such, it’s just not accurate and not true

The competition is so deep for the last 2 spots, that I really don't know who's gonna come out on top, but I really want Chellsie to be on the team, if not at least on the World team, she has so much experience and can act as a fantastic team captain

Chellsie has shown full routines on beam except with dismount onto mat. Not on the other events though. That beam routine was also a "starter" routine and didn't have all her planned connections though

@@lalareal180 yeah, but she has the strength and the muscle memory to do that and do it well. Plus, she may well know that she's got a better shot at beam specialist and is focusing on that. I wouldn't count her out quite yet!

You’re right! She definitely came with an epic beam (6.2) at Winterfest.
Her bars and floor are at 5.7 so she’s definitely a strong AAer...and this was the first competition!

Dream team for Tokyo 2020: Simone, Laurie, Jordan and Shilese. Alternate predictions: Chellsie, Mykayla, Riley and Jade. I don’t see it for Suni or Konnor this year but I do think they can make it to Paris. I also don’t see much hope for Morgan or Leanne.
While we're at it, let's pick Simone, Laurie, MyKayla and Chellsie. I really can't be mad at this team and I believe the US could win gold with these 4. I also don't believe that any of these 4 people will fall off of anything the entire olympics, which can't be said for literally any other combination of girls.

I do have other team predictions like the girls at WCC in Spring, TX but if we’re talking about which team has the highest potential of winning gold, it’s the four you just mentioned. I can’t imagine any other team capable of winning team gold. I guess my alternate prediction could be Riley and Jade since they’re both great in individual events but again, not so much all around athletes. I’m also thinking Amari Drayton and Barros or even Olivia for alternates.
Of course Simone would be there, smart move on Jade Carey's part, I would want to see Sunisa Lee there too. Jordan Chiles has much improved...
All the girls who have been discussed here on this message board, are all great athletes. Ultimately, the athletes that portray total readiness on that given day of olympic trials will be selected. As we get closer to the trials it will be clear which girls are totally in the mix.

Thank god she left Texas dreams. She can be a really good gymnast but needs a healthy environment to train in order to become an even better gymnast.
If Riley doesn’t make the team I don’t see her getting a specialist spot. I don’t think she can beat suni, and she can beat Simone (on a good day) imagine if they chose her and she doesn’t even advance to the bars final💀

This may sound mean, but I feel it would be a waste to give her a spot on a 4-person team. Way too inconsistent...
If Jade goes an individual, Skinner offers a 15+ vault score for the team competition. Team gold is USAG's #1 priority so that's a strong consideration. I don't know how they would fit that in with Simone plus two other team members but unless someone else starts showing something bigger than a Yurchenko double, she is a factor.
That's a really good point. I think if it's between Jade and Skinner on the team, the better choice would be Jade. She can bring high scores on both vault and floor.
But then, if Suni is on the team, they'll already have the scores for floor.
I can see how McKayla shouldn't be ruled out!
Jade IS going as an Individual. No IF, she IS otherwise USA forfeits that spot and none can use it. Not gonna happen!
@@nicky9757 No that isnt how it works! Her and her father/coach secured her INDIVIDUAL SPOT KNOWING SHE WOULD BE TERMINATING HER CHANCE TO BE ON THE ACTUAL TEAM! PERIOODDDDDDD! Thats why she went to all the world cups etc! Tom has already said this many many times!
Chiles will have an Amanar. Bet. I would guess that jade keeps her individual spot and skinner and chiles battle for the same 2nd vaulter spot. Be interesting to see that battle for sure. I think Morgan and Suni got the other two. So many others could suprise though, and some of the favorites will inevitably dissappoint as well.

i just really want Morgan to make the team people have been counting her out since she didn't make the team in 2019 and saying she has peaked but i still thing she has this in the bag she could surprise us like she did at 2017 worlds
At 2017 Worlds, Morgan fell and won with a 55.2 total because all of the decent competition was injured or resting. She's a beautiful gymnast, but I would really like to see her show a consistent 2-day meet without falls maintaining her best difficulty. She will need to do this at both US Championships and Trials. A score of 55.8 in a 1-day competition like she did at 2020 American Cup is not going to make this year's Olympic team, unfortunately.
Sydney Barros looks tall for a gymnast. I hope she stays with Gymnastics. Not just for college but for Elite. There are a lot of talented girls here , but who is consistent? And will the Olympics be cancelled again? Japan is having another outbreak of covid 19. As well as India having a horrible time with the virus. I'm rooting for Grace.
Couple thoughts- Laurie has shown barely that she’s done her double lay, but I think it was only into the pit. She also did a teaser with piking her double Arabian, but I don’t think either are likely, and in the quads where you need a double double or something equivalent, I don’t really think she has a chance. As much as I want Riley McCusker to get on the team, her consistency is pretty bad. Also, I’m disappointed for Emma Malabuyo, I think she’s physically ready for UCLA, and is just another name on the list of Texas Dreams girls that shined as juniors, and struggle as seniors. Finally, I think something is up with Olivia Greaves, she didn’t seem to be enjoying gymnastics at the Winter Cup. I saw her coaches trying to comfort her, but she just looked mentally off.
I think you are right about Riley's consistency. I think she will bring upgrades later on, but I wonder if it's enough.
What do think is up with Olivia? I assumed she was just nervous and in a growth spurt.
Obviously Simone is set, and I think as long as Suni performs well in the upcoming competitions then she'll be a lock for he 2nd spot. While Jade is already locked to go through the Individual apparatus route, I am very impressed with how her bars and beam are looking now that she's been training with Riley and adding upgrades. But I would love to see Morgan, Chelsie, or Laurie go. They all at least have the international experience. But it's just super hard because the US is just stacked with amazing gymnasts and with only 4 spots, each person needs to be solidly capable for AA while also having one or two "specialties". Trials are going to be super interesting.
When are trials?
June 24 - 27.
@@JustMe-px9qy Mid - late June I believe. The Classics will be the next competition, but that's not till May. Although only a handful of Olympic contenders performed at the Winter cup last month, so Classics will be the first competition since Covid hit that we will see most of them compete.
I absolutely agree . Simone Suni Morgan Hurd , Lee Anne Wong and Grace. Those would be my picks .I heard they are going for all rounders this year so I’m not sure about Riley . Love her though 💖if they take a bars specialist for sure though .
I'm hoping Riley will come with upgrades on floor next time! 5.4 - 6.2/6.4 - 6.0 - Her last floor was a 5.3, IIRC.
Riley is actually a strong all-arounder. At the 2019 GK US Classics, her AA score was 57.900. I believe only Simone posted a higher AA score that year (in the world). Riley's had some consistency issues, all things considered though, that's understandable. We'll have to wait and see how she does now that she's healthy and had a coaching switch.
For sure she actually one of my favourite gymnasts out there , her extension toe point and form are exquisite! Its Vault that the strong all rounders will come to a battle ground . The hardest vaults will go .. if the other events great . Grace should be competing the Cheng soon . And others have the Amanar . I wish there could be a bigger Olympic Team .. there is so much talent and athletes deserving . ☺
It would be great to see Riley and Jade go together since they have been training together .

The author of the app gave a non apology citing freedom of the press for sharing child pornography. He is still working there. Not a good look for USAG considering there terrible handling of the Nassar scandal

A team has 4 gymnasts and you can qualify two more through various competitions but they won't be part of the team. Jade Carey already has one spot and the IOC was going to name 3 more AA gymnasts for the top 3 teams in qualifications from 2019 Worlds which would give the US woman a 6th member who wouldn't be part of the team but not sure if they changed that. If you qualify as a specialist you cannot make the team which means Carey is out. People keep speculating she might refuse the spot she already qualified for but there has been no confirmation she is allowed to do that. Her dad went behind Tom's back and got permission for her to compete at the meets to qualify and Tom Forester has said that she won't be able to be part of the team and lose the US a spot if she does it this way and she went and did it that way anyway. So she gets to do the AA even though she qualified through the Vault spot. Any questions?

(4 team members and 2 separately) And each of the six can try to get to the AA final or individual discipline. Right? Omg! It's weird, but maybe it's nice that 6 girls from the country have the opportunity to try to be in the AA final. What do you think about?

@@svetpodlaromi You understand perfectly :) The extra two gymnasts are NOT part of the team but they still count towards the 2 per Country rule. This entire idea is STUPID, IMO, The IOC are idiots. I always thought it was a 4-3-3 count but recently someone told me all 4 gymnasts do the AA. (4-3-3- means the 4 teams members do a total of 3 of the apparatuses and someone is left off each one but I keep getting told it's 4-4-4 which means everyone does AA and the top 2 scores make the event finals and AA finals.

I could actually see Suni going as a specialist, as she spent most of 2O2O injured and is still unable to do vault and floor. Of course if she is healthy she is an amazing all-arounder, but I feel like the US has other aa-medal potential gymnasts. And it is obvious that the second specialist needs to be a bars girl
Skinner seems to be counting on vault to make it, but it seems very unlikely she will be selected.... Memmel hasn’t shown full routines on her videos, just isolated skills, so maybe she will surprise many at the end...lol

I 100% agree with you. People are counting out Skinner forget she finished 4th in the AA at trials for Worlds and gets better as he year goes on.

USA has so many choices to choose from to make up the elite 4 team members. My biggest disappointment was that Katelyn Ohashi won't be joining the USA team to Tokyo. Will be incredible to think that any team is capable to beat USA for the gold.
1:22 Mykayla was on the highest scoring team at Nationals and Trials & tends to improve as the season goes on. If anyone should be seen as “not having a place on the team” it should be the new juniors (turned senior) bc of no international experience and average score. As well as Kara and Leanne bc of how inconsistent they after after all the competition they had to prove themselves.
I saw Nica Hults. I remember her. Wasn’t Sidney Whitney’s teammate at one point at the JO levels?

I think now that Becky was not picked for the GBR team the US has a higher chance with the UB final. Sunisa, Riley, Simone and LeAnne can all make that final (two per country). Kara has a greater chance of qualifying for the final if she hits her set.

I hate that they took away a spot. Especially this year. So much talent, and it’s really devastating to watch girls dreams be taken away. I don’t know gymnastics as well, but I wish they could all go. But the world is not rainbows and butterflies so of course that can’t happen. Sad day ☹️
I wanted so Bad a team with Emma Malabuyo, she is an amazing gymnast with a lot of injuries, it´s super sad really sad but is part of the sport, I always wanted to see her in a world or olympics, power and grace! I hope the best for her, but if she wants to continue please, go for another gym, change your way of training with another coach!! You are a star Emma!
Since the rules recently changed - its a 5 person team and Carey has a guaranteed spot as an individual event specialist so is at least going for that. If she hits her upgrades she should be put on the team but not sure she will be due to politics. My 5 “team” would be Biles, Lee, McCallum, Hurd, Chiles. Alternates: Eaker/Merril/Skinner

@@elizac.2271 I think so but one specialist will be an all a rounder and then Jade would be just vault. But there is some confusion as to if the all around specialist would also be on the team. Either way - Jade is going to be cheated.
@@michellelosch9928 Jade qualified for the spot as a specialist. She won't be part of the team. She still gets to do the AA but she won't be part of the team and she won't be allowed to be part of the team. The only confusion is if she refuses the Vault spot she won because tom already told her, if she does the individual route he won't use her on the team. The US isn't allowing her to lose them an extra spot and that would make her selfish.

I was a gymnasts, judge and member of USAG. 1) Tom has said multiple times when asked that he supported her decision to go the World Cup route and there would be no repercussions for doing so. 2) She will only compete vault if they do not select her has a member of the team event and/or a all-around specialist. The person selected as an all-around specialists scores will not count for the team. Now do I THINK he will select her NO but only due to politics. Tom has also said that unless there are injuries the top scoring gymnasts at trials will be selected. Do I think he will stick to that NO.

I hope so, the team always does great with the addition of a neophyte senior (i.e. Kyla Ross 2012 and Laurie H 2016). We'll see.

My dream.team would be simone( lol ), jade, mykaila and suni/jordan. Their are of course others which could earn the spot. Really it's about what a day everyome has, even the best could have a bad one, so no clue who it will be. I think their are around ten girls who could earn that spot😅
I have had this list for several months now....Simone. Morgan. Sunisa, Riley, Grace, and Jade for the 2 remaining spots- consistency winning. I will be really disappointed if Morgan isn't on this team, she is always undervalued in my opinion- beautiful execution and top notch difficulty. I hope that USA gymnastics looks at ALL of Jade's events, giving her a potential team spot rather than pigeon- holing her. We all know that all of these amazing gymnasts are worthy of a spot. I hope they are all able to stay healthy through to the games. Finally, Chellsie and Mikayla are looking really good and I would love to see them in Tokyo, but the field is stacked...so....they will have to be exceptional.
MyKayla should also go. She has been crushing it. #mcKaylaskinner

I think it's too early to say that Mykayla doesn't have a place on the team. You really won't know until trials. In my book, I can see a few different scenarios where maybe Mkayla gets one of the 4 all around spots or a specialist spot, for floor and vault.
What about Olivia making the team?
I know she probably has bar upgrades, so as a specialist? I can't see it. But then again, I haven't seen her upgrades yet.

@@usagtea8072 - is Olivia the one that trained under Maggie Haney? And her mother wrote a letter supporting Maggie? If so...those people seem pretty aggressive. Apparently, they moved to a different school district so their son would have more success with football. They don’t strike me as people that’ll take “no” well.

a racist and abusive coach should not be working or offered a job. Seriously side-eyeing this gym for hiring her. So I guess they just dont care? Why speak up against verbal abuse towards gymnasts and turn around and hire an abusive coach? Doesnt make sense
