“In one incident, Haney and her assistant coach Victoria Levine refused to spot a gymnast as she attempted a new skill on the uneven bars. The gymnast fell and struck her head against exposed concrete before landing in a foam pit. Haney and Levine laughed at the gymnast until they realized she was having seizures. The gymnast had two skull fractures.”

But, I always give them some encouraging words and comfort them. If they actually fell hard, I’d check them over and if they feel ready to try again, we would. When I would dismount my coach would ask “how’d it feel?” Even if it went horribly they never rebuked me but they would say we can do it more in training. The only time my coaches would be tough was when they knew we could be better and we weren’t showing it in practice- and I mean like being overly silly, reckless, unsafe, or cheating on the numbers. I get that coaching gymnasts is difficult especially elite ones, theyre young and its hard to discipline them sometimes, but theres a line between being strict and showing tough love , and straight up bullying your students and athletes, and its not a fine one to be given excuses to mg elite and thinking its not a big deal, we only see here the nasty stares, but hearing all the testimonies and shared stories from her athletes is heart breaking, they missed on so many oppurtunities to be amazing athletes just because their coach forced them to train on injuries, starve, scare them and alot of horrible methods that they pretty much relate training to fear and anxiety, you have the best in the world, simone biles who says her old coach aimee always let her have fun, eat what she wants and do alot of her activities favourite activities because thats what makes her do well, if a gymnast got that far , theyre likely that they are serious and dont need to be disciplined that hard because they are not doing that against their will, the sport is hard enough

As an outsider looking in, I see two former athletic champions who are still very young, but have probably been coaching for long enough to feel some burn out, who aren't great coaches, and are even worse with coaching young children. And somebody that heavily pregnant should not be spotting a child on bars. That doesn't seem safe for any party involved.
I feel as if these two coaches would thrive in a college atmosphere, but with children this young, they are putting way too much adult competitive pressure and it's causing these girls to try and throw tricks they haven't mastered yet, and getting hurt because of it.
Are there no committees willing to look into their coaching methods and training styles? I don't necessarily see abuse, but I do see a very hyper competitive, toxic environment forced onto girls that are too young and too athletically immature, imo.

"But Haney demanded the gymnast do the skill. The gymnast continued to hesitate. Haney began ridiculing the girl in front of other gymnasts, according to the girl’s mother. Victoria Levine, Haney’s assistant at MG Elite, a New Jersey gymnastics club, started screaming at the girl, the mother said.
The girl asked the coaches to spot her. They would not, Levine citing a recent medical procedure she had undergone.
The gymnast tried the trick, fell, hitting her head on the equipment and then again on exposed cement before landing in a foam pit. Haney and Levine laughed at the girl in the pit until they realized she was having seizures, according to the mother and two other parents.
The girl had suffered two skull fractures. Her mother arrived at the hospital to find a chaplain near her daughter’s unconscious and lifeless-appearing body.
“I thought she was dead,” recalled the mother, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The gymnast recovered but continues to suffer from migraine headaches.
The incident was one of dozens of examples of the alleged physical, verbal and emotional abuse by Haney of young female gymnasts provided to USA Gymnastics, the sport’s national governing body, between 2016 and this March, according to a Southern California News Group investigation. "

I agree that you can just dismiss this as a trainer being upset their gymnast didn't perform their skill or whatever, or they have "resting bitch face" or whatnot. But, keep in mind they work with little ones, and they as adults should be able to keep their emotions in check and channel positive and constructive advice towards their trainees. Saying, even if only with your face expression and body language, 'you are a disappointment/a waste of our precious coaching time' is definitely not the mark of a good coach. Not to even touch on the outright abusive methods and behaviors that might not be on camera or during competitions.
