We had a continual slow coolant leak. we constantly were topping off the coolant. I was finally able to get some time to pin point and repair the leak.
I have a 96 camry and I have replaced the thermostat twice within months because the stat keeps getting stuck and the car overheats when a/c is on. Any suggestions please Mr Real World Garage. I live out in the Mojave desert north of LA
You can try a “fail safe” thermostat they work backwards. They start out open and close a bit to regulate the temp. So if they fail, they fail where you won’t overheat. Parts these days seem to be hit or miss. Quality is sorely lacking. I’m sorry that I haven’t replied sooner, I’ve been out of pocket, and just got back from a 3 day 1400 mile road trip. Hope this helps.
@@robertherrera1161 another thing to make sure of, is that the fans are coming on. It might not be a thermostat issue at all. crank everything up and just open the hood and observe. The fans should cycle on shortly after setting the AC to max. I have on rare occasion seen the AC making one run hot when the radiator was partially plugged internally. It just can’t handle the extra load of heat from the condenser.
Question: which one is the radiator fan? Driver or passenger side? My passenger side comes on. I thought that was my ac fan. Also when i unplug the sensor at the bottom of the radiator i thought both were suppose to come on but only the passenger side comes on. . I check with my scanner and my ect is reading 205 deg and fan doesnt come on.
I’m not 100% certain on when the fans come on. But on most systems when they lose the temperature reference signal fans are turned on as a fail safe. I would check ground and voltage to the driver side fan.
Basic set of hand tools, there is nothing special required. Metric 3/8 socket set, flat screw driver Philips screw driver and some pliers. Thanks for watching.
Thank you, Sir.
You’re welcome

@@robertherrera1161 👍 thermostat is cheap and easy enough, I’d be looking hard at the radiator after that.
Good job,,. Best Regards
Whats the degree
Can’t remember, but I use either 180 or 195 on everything either will work.
Good help
Glad it helped you. Thanks for watching and commenting!!

What tools will I need exactly to do this?
