    Would be great to see a tutorial video of how you did the renders. Thanks
    As you are going to do varied surfaces then an air compressor is essential. ARB do both fitted and portable but are expensive. For deflating an Indeflate is great with its pressure gauge. Can also be used to inflate.
    A South African site, Roam Overlanding includes a LC 79 build.
    4xoverland by Andrew St Pierre White has several Troopy builds and he has some good experience of what works and what doesn’t.

    • @NorthOz
      @NorthOz  9 месяцев назад +1

      All great suggestions. I’m a big fan of 4xoverland but Andrews build was a bit pricier than what I’m looking at here. Great suggestions he puts forward though. I’ll look into roam overlanding. I couldn’t remember if I had seen his 79 build. I remember his jimny and hilux build. I’ll sus it out for sure. I’ll have that render video up over the next few days for you 👍

    Gxl comes twin lock stock standard.
    And a 79 will runup to a 37 inch with no drama special just easier styles you do. Head up I quoted portals from marks you might get some change out of $60k with 300mm extension but it’s about $57k.
    I though you other vlog you said you were keeping it stock. Lol
    Mate just like the rest of us who own a 79 you want the biggest bad ass fourby you can get
    Good luck I will be watching and I will send of my update. Ps I got a workmate similar to your 2023 graphite it came twin locked and I put a Norweld tray is on it. ( all brand new ) To keep it cheaper just run a 4 inch lift correct the rear diff and run neg 12 of set and that gets you abit wider all round and more aggressive stance.
    Merry Christmas and hope alls well with the floods. 👍

    • @NorthOz
      @NorthOz  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks mate! I appreciate the advice. Haha yeah a few mods are planned but not looking to go too crazy with it. Portals would be a long term dream. Still cleaning up family’s house here after the flood but I’m all good. Thanks for your thoughts 🤙

    I would look at the Dobinsons remote res shocks. They're bloody fantastic. I have been running them on my 200 series for the past 3 years. Essential 4x4 company owner put me onto them. He puts his through hell and bulletproof.
    If you go a canopy. You can install a camera review mirror to see behind you. I've done that on mine and works a treat

    • @NorthOz
      @NorthOz  9 месяцев назад

      Good thinking. The dobinsons have a good name and I’ll definitely consider them for a 2 inch lift. Good to know they can take a flogging. The camera would be a must for sure. Visibility wouldn’t be great without the rear window

      Autochimpelectronics have a reverse camera kit for $220 that links to your existing unit because the cabling should already be there ready for it. Love your view on things, look forward to each video. Hoping to get a workmate troopy myself this week :-D

    Great video and I actually agree with what you said. Have you given any thought to towing a trailer? That way you can keep your 79 fairly simple and easier for daily use.

    • @NorthOz
      @NorthOz  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks mate! I have thought about a trailer but they are just so expensive. It sounds funny coming from someone who just dropped $90k on a basic vehicle but the base model off-roading trailers start at $15k with nothing in them and at that point I’m at sleeping in a swag still. The small campers that have a sleeping space inside start at $30k but that’s a decent chunk of cash and it affects my off-roading ability. Unfortunately, there’s no cheap option when it comes to trailers but I might get one some day. Especially if I have a family. Then it would make sense I reckon 👍

    The air intake is also not sealed where it enters the guard and joins into the airbox, it just sits together with some felt lining.

  • @jamesh7395
    @jamesh7395 9 месяцев назад

    For lockers I would go air lockers.. There are pros and cons to both, but the issues with eLockers (time lag to engage, and the reliability of the electric wiring) seen to far outweigh the potential issues with air lockers (punctured air line). And a punctured air line is probably easier to diagnose and fix than some electrical gremlin. Finally, the ARB ones (and probably TJM) come with a 5 year warranty, and they have a big store network around Australia, so if you have issues on the road, you should be able to find somewhere to get it fixed..

    • @NorthOz
      @NorthOz  9 месяцев назад +1

      I didn’t think about the network of dealers. I might consider an arb air locker. Good thinking with the diagnosis too. I have seen a bit of issues with elockers on 4wd 247

    Tyres mate, go 305/70 r16 mate, the old standard 33 inch tyre. 285 are too narrow. The 305 float really well when let down. With breathers i extended all mine then mounted the original breathers under bonnet. That way no warranty issues. Go a Warn or Red high mount winch mate. High mount winches are the best.

    • @NorthOz
      @NorthOz  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks Richard. I’ll look for some common sizes in the 305. I’m mindful of running too wide. Would that be a 34 inch tyre then at 305?

      @@NorthOz no mate 305/70r16 is the old standard 33 inch dia tyre 12.5 inches wide on 15 inch rims. Later the bought out the 285 tyre which is 11 inches wide. The wider ones fill the guards way better and float better when let down. Both sizes are 33 inch dia
