Draining the tank of stale fuel - Is this why my Morris Minor doesn't run?

Classic car merchandise can be found on my etsy shop somethingautom... Next on the to do list for the Morris Minor was to drain the manky fuel from the fuel tank.
The fuel was a cloudy yellow colour and smelt strongly of varnish. I thought there was a good half a tank but turned out there was only a couple of litres.
As you'll see, once fresh fuel was put in the tank, the engine quickly ran smoother and smoother and even revs pretty freely!

That is gross old fuel. Such a distintive moggy sound!

Yeah I love the sound. Cant wait to drive it
