Little heavier guy myself. 5’10 190ish got throttle hands got one hands can slow down and decent no hands. Any tips other than just lock the bars and send it on the hand drags. Awesome video 🤟💪
Yeah I should’ve gone into that more I just lose my train of thought easy lol. Biggest tip would be to work on dipping the hand drag how you’re comfortable, and as you get more comfortable make sure your right arm is extended so you can get your left hand farther back without having to dip the bike as far back. Also probably squeeze your legs together to hold on to the bike better. I’m not even sure if I do that but I feel like I probably do. Try to stay as centered as possible because it’s really easy to lose balance and fall to the side if you go really far back with it. And also try to come into it with some speed but try to dip slowly don’t fly back into the hand drag super fast.
Thank you for this lesson, it was super helpful, especially for a beginner such as myself. I'm doing one foot down drags and sometimes when I clutch it up quickly I hit the rear brake and the clutch because it wants to stall if I don't. You touched on this a bit in terms of dipping back and needing speed, but what about when you just clutch up and you haven't built up any speed? Am I giving it too much throttle to get it up, or am I not reducing the throttle quickly enough? So confused! Thanks for any thoughts
When I started I was also using the clutch to avoid stalling. It’s not exactly a bad thing, it just makes continuing the wheelie require a little more skill, which might be hard in the beginning. I would work on bringing it up a little slower so you can pick up some speed on the way up if you’re starting from a dead stop. Or you can do the clutch up kind of fast but you’ll need to work on hitting the brake a little earlier, just enough to slow down how fast it’s coming up, but not enough to knock the wheelie down
You’re probably giving it too much gas. If you give it way too much gas it won’t really matter how soon you let off the throttle, when it rises really fast it will keep going up even when you’re off the throttle. That’s what tricks people into thinking they’re dipping when they’re really just floating in to balance point for the first time. Try to experiment with doing clutch ups with a smaller initial rev but then giving more gas after the launch, almost like you’re boosting yourself into a power wheelie if that makes sense. Starts small and work your way up until you find a good point where the clutch up just gives you a small boost, and the 1st gear torque brings you up the rest of the way, that way you get to stay in control of how fast or slow you approach balance point or dipping. Eventually you’ll just learn by feel how much to give it to just come straight up to balance point. That’s what I do, but sometimes it comes up too much and you just have to catch it early with foot brake and then get back on the throttle before it drops too much. Hope this helps!
@@jar7d Wow thank you for the advice. I practice everyday without fail but couldn’t figure a way around this roadblock. What you suggest makes perfect sense and I’ll be in the lot tomorrow morning to put it to use. Appreciate you Bro!!!!
Came here for this thread lol just looped yesterday 🫣 I’ve been getting to the point of tapping the rear brake just enough to slow the rise of the front wheel and not bring it down. Well, I never let off the throttle after tapping the rear brake and when I released the brake I looped pretty good! I feel like I’ve never really saw a tutorial or wheelie “ guide “ talk about throttle control/brake PRESSURE for new guys ( and girls ). This is something that’s confusing to me and I’m still trying to workout myself. Going to give you a follow on IG.
I was progressing nicely and i feel stuck where im at. Can clutch up no prob, ride it out a bit but struggling to get it up high enough to keep it at bp and really develop the relationship between throttle and rear brake although I do hit rear brake when I go back too far
I can foot drag and dip on command now in first from a dead stop and rolling. Should I learn both feet up in first gear now or go to second? It’s pretty hard to balance going so slow in first.
Gonna be a lot my scary on the s1k probably but as long as you learn to dip on command and really have control over the grom first it will translate fine, just takes some time to get used to. If you just barely learn balance point on a grom and don’t take it farther than that though you’re gonna have a hard time on the s1k
If you have the abs one like me you have to take the fuse out under the seat. Mine used to not lift up unless I did a wheelie and then the abs would turn off. Should say abs motor I think.
Just have to start a dip and force yourself to wait to brake until it dips a little farther and farther each time. Try to set it down gentle with just a little bit of brake, and come in with speed. If you got for a scrape too slow, you’ll probably tip over. Chase a little bit then dip and let engine brake do most of the gentle fall back, with just a little brake
Thanks! Im just starting to learn any idea if it’s safe to do 1-5 seconds wheelies and practice stock? Not sure how long you need to have it up before the mod is necessary
