Can you mimic this setup without the STRAIGHT UP 6 thread plate, since they are on backorder/no eta as of 9/2/20
What would I use in its place?
Mike yes just go slow on the install or if you’re worried use kitaco clutch springs
4 years ago man time has flown by I remember watching you because you showed me be a big guy i could still ride a grom
Excellent video absolutely legendary can't imagine how much extra effort was needed to make this as thorough as you've made it. You don't assume anyone knows anything you tell it all I love it
Gotta give props to your editing, looks like it went alot smoother than it was edited :P
🤜🏿🍩😂
the modified oil pump pickup arm is also good for grom owners that do a lot of steep up hill mountain roads where you engine is running at a high RPM trying to climb a long ass mountain road. Are you guys using full synthetic oil in Florida after the new engine rebuild. I’m using full synthetic Amsoil 10/40 oil after I break in my new BBK kit engine with about 100 miles of Dino Honda 10/40 oil.
Cisco Julian this Cisco from the sfmoto coast2coast meetup? If so, hey buddy! Yeah that’s a good point with steep mountains, I wonder if going downhill if the reverse happens with no oil being picked up on the way down the mountain. Luckily we don’t have many of those in Florida. We’re doing Honda oil gn4 here. Take care ✊
@@Photogromer yep it’s me never got my send off shirt from the dealer in SF, still riding the grom everyday to the gym or what ever, my RX7, Tundra truck, Harleys, Hayabusa, ZX-6r hardly get driven or ridden. I rather ride my grom due to cheap on gas, EZ to park and Lane splitting. Waiting for my new 2020 C8 corvette that I ordered to come in expected date is summer time due to GM strike and me getting a dealer in Calif with low amount of C8 allowed to their dealership. I did pre-order in Florida at Stingray Chevrolet when they first came out due to the MSRP price but found a Northern Calif dealership that sold at MSRP so I ordered it from Fremont Chevy. It will be the 2LT-Z51package, ride height, engine LED package, etc. Say hi to Wally for me. Oh going down the mountain won’t be as bad because you are not using the engine as much, just coast down hill or you will be riding at a lower RPM range due to the grom engine not being strained as it would going up hill.
Lol the live comments were funny... I loved it haha
Straight Up Pumps for life.
Where did you get the handbook for the grom?
*Thank you for sharing your tricks and tips, very helpful*
Awesome video.
This doesn’t look to bad to do at all
Do I need an extension on my impact drill to fit the spanner socket to remove the oil spinner and clutch basket?
Great video thanks!!!
I love you man keep up the work
Really good video.
I did what you said not to do with the clutches on the bike 😂 went to test it and no clutch at all. Everyone please advise that lol
BamaGromer what do you mean?
Goon Rides put it back on while on the bike and it left a space in the back and didn't sit right
@@Red_D3v1l did you ever figure it out because mines doing the same and I have no clutch
@@AustinBruceFlows yep! Didn't have the plates fully seated. If it's not that in the basket, it's the plunger on the inside of the case
@@Red_D3v1l okay thanks I've been struggling trying to figure out what's going on
Did you ever make a update video on how are the springs ?
They are awesome love em.
The torque specs given by the manufacturer imply that the fasteners are dry.
If the threads are covered in engine oil or anti-seize, you're supposed to reduce the tightening torque by 25%.
I think that's why I kept breaking my spark plugs while trying to tighten them to spec.
Also you want to use a torque wrench which range is centered on your application.
Using a 10-80Nm on a 12Nm fastener will not be precise enough. You'd need a smaller one e.g. a 2 to 22 Nm.
Thanks for the tip I’ll have to try it on a some dummy parts. Hand tight and a little more has been reliable on those parts I showed but it’s always a good feeling knowing you have it torqued to proper spec. Thx again
Is it possible to mod my stretched/bagged grom enough to wheelie? It simply won’t right now because it’s too underpowered to bring the front up with the stretch. I think I can air it up with enough pressure for the suspension to be stiff enough but it just can’t bring it up without trying to kill the wngine
Anyone have any suggestions on easy to remove saddle bags? I want a scrape bar for the majority of the time but also want bags if I have stuff to pick up from the store. The Set from T-Rex Racing are the size I want but not sure how bulky they are without the bags on or if a scrap bar would fit with the cage for the bags?
Where did you get that manual bro
😂 tracy my man
Minute 25:46 what happen if I don't have the tool and i move the bolt ? Cuz My Grom die
Do you have any stunt bikes like a ninja or Honda
What size are the bolts for the pressure plates??
So I put a smr in my grom and when I pull the lever In the bike wants to roll and I can’t get it into neutral
Adjust at the case. Put the rear wheel off the ground using a couple of jack stands or bricks on the swing arm if you don’t have a rear stand. Then adjust the clutch so the back tire stops spinning when put in gear and the clutch lever pulled in.
Does the straight up pressure plate have the 6 hole drilled all the way through?
What do you mean all the way through? If you're talking about the pressure plate with the stems, it's just drilled to the depth of the stock oem holes, so no it does not go all the way through, just enough for the bolts to tighten. If you're talking about the spring lifter plate, that's a chimera I installed, I believe straight up sells a Kevtek, both have all 6 holes on the plate.
@@Photogromer im talking about the pressure plate. Because i saw someone tap the oem one which i did. But the oem bolts are to long to tighten up all the way on the 3 other holes that oem does not thread
@@Photogromer were the oem bolts go in the oem pressure plate is all the way through but the 3 untapped holes are not all the way through. I tapped the 3 extra holes but did not drill through like the factory did to the 3 original holes so my same size bolts dont fit in the new holes because i didnt drill all the way through. Im trying to figure out what the back of the straight up pressure plate looks like so i can know what they did so i can replicate that
@@traxxasLOVR Straight up includes 6 bolts with their pressure plate, as you can see in the video no problems tightening up. No idea to how far they tap the holes but everything goes together with their moded pressure plate. If you're having an issue with doing it yourself I'd just buy the pressure plate from Straight Up, it's not that expensive to know it's done right.
Love the vids
Good video and thanks for sharing. Only thing is I didn't really get much out of it other then a bunch of talk about stuff unrelated to the title. My attention was lost pretty early on. I think for the most part every one watching this knows how a engine works. The five minutes explaining with a fist pump is not why people click on these. I'm not trying to be a dick you seem like a nice guy. Just giving my opinion. Other was your picture and camera angles are good quality.
Where can i order an oil pump mod at?
Here ya go straightuppumps.com
How's this video only eight thousand views
Where can I buy that special tool?
I knew I was forgetting something. I'll update the pinned comment and video description with it in 5 mins.
@@Photogromer Thanks!

I know it’s not the same bike but the engine is very close as it’s based on the Honda it’s a 156fmi engine as there are many kinds of this engine mine is a wk125r do you think that this might fit mine as my clutch has lots of play and it’s new but slips like a bitch always has even when I first got the bike don’t get me wrong pulls off like a rocket in the bottom gears top not very good just loss of power and feels like it just slips iv never been able to get it up I only got it for a bit of fun but fun it is not it’s good for around town I do have my big bike for longer rides but if I drop the 125 not so bad drop my bigger biker then that’s a lot of cash to pay out to fix it it’s like a Frankenstein engine made from many different kinds only thing is can’t find a big bore kit for it anywhere all the others you can just not this one it’s made by QuadZila I think that’s how you spell it I have to talk to my pad I can’t read and right but I can build almost anything iv been looking to do all kinds to this engine but it’s getting to a point I might have to change the engine to some more possible and parts would be easier to get
