My laptop have no issues. I am working on it no problem. But last one week whenever I power on the laptop this diagnostics starts running. How to stop it?
It would help if you gave a bit more detail. However in general if the diagnostics pass it means your hardware is good and if you've got a boot issue, it is more likely due to a corrupt Operating System. You'll need to clean install Windows.
@@philipyip1988 well my laptop problem is when I open, it last like 10 to 20 min without me opening any program and then some green dots pop up around the screen, immediately after the screen freeze and goes into a black screen. I tried closing the laptop and opening it and all I got was more black screens after alienware logo. I used the F12 dell diagnostic option and it said all the device components working properly, I reset my pc and still have the same problem. Even at the automatic repair screen the colour of the page changes after a while into blue and cyan lines instead of full blue screen with text. I let the laptop rest until the next day and then I try opening it, I get into windows and 10 to 20 min same thing happens and the problem keeps running in the same circle. This problem started September 30th 2018 at 9:45 AM, until today I am still trying to find what is the problem with it and how to fix it. I searched in a lot of website and videos but still nothing similar to my problem. I have a lot of pictures I can show you and I really need help solving this problem as soon as possible.
Is this like a stress test or something, because I ran this on my brand new laptop, literally the first thing I did, and the fans were whirring a lot. The laptop also got pretty hot. Is that normal?

@@philipyip1988 it just turned off before it could finish what it was doing, I didn't take note of the beeps. When I turn it on the leds on the power button and the gear button the right turns on and just turns off. Nothing shows in the screen
Just to make sure that before I try this that the diagnostic hard drive test does not overwrite my OS or data on the drive? Also, does the video card test tests the onboard video chip only or does it test my add-on video card as well? Thanks!
@@philipyip1988 Thanks! Now, I can feel comfortable doing it. Btw, do you know how this Dell diagnostic differs from Dell's SupportAssist? Apparently it has 3 mode, each test more extensive than the previous. But, the terms and condition says they will collect your data. A real privacy issue!
@@enufots4621Preboot diagnostics as shown in this video are run when your computer can not boot up the OS and cannot connect to the internet. However for other problems where you can boot, the other diagnostics will collect your data, return it to the Dell website and automatically try and apply some basic solutions such as a driver update if available etc etc. Alternatively it will give the means of contacting Dell if there is a problem and if the system has warranty.
Philip Yip it usually just shows yellow caution sign saying “no hard drive detected” and something about my “battery” but I never had issues with them in past?
@@RonJon2012 if there is no hard drive, there is nothing to boot from, so your computer will boot into diagnostics. It could be a problem with the hard drive (normally diagnostics would detect the hard drive and report a fault in this case) or the connection to the hard drive to the motherboard (could have shaken loose and the most likely culprit) or the motherboard itself.
Philip Yip well this issue didn’t happen much before. Plus I had a random BSOD last night which led to this. Otherwise my laptop was running just fine the last few days. What do I do?
@@RonJon2012 BSOD could of occurred because you lost connection to the hard drive. If the system is under warranty you will need to get Dell to replace the hard drive. Otherwise you can attempt to take the system apart and reseat or replace the hard drive (with a SSD). This is easier in some models than other models.

There is nothing obvious I can see here: www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/PRIME-B360M-A/HelpDesk_Manual/ ASUS used to have a preboot diagnostics tool but I think this was before UEFI was out. Have a look at this video which mentions EzMode. There are temperature graphs and things but I don't see an obvious diagnostics utility (it may be elsewhere in the UEFI BIOS): ruclips.net/video/ldcz9xzWa58/видео.html& The problem is you have a custom board and have a range of parameters which you can alter. Most other systems would operate exclusively within a certain range of parameters, so diagnostics may not be as strict.

The feasibility of doing so depends on your model, usually its easier to do in a Desktop than a Laptop or Tablet. After you reseat it you can run the diagnostics again. If it is still not connected, it is likely the drive has failed and needs to be replaced although there is a smaller possibility the connector itself is damaged.

I wanted to reset my laptop and I clicked the second option which was (Remove the files and clean the drive) it failed so it came with options I clicked it something by mistake and it went to Dell Preboot and I want to use the Internet again but everytime I exist it kept going to Dell Preboot ( I didn't respond the time you responded because I didn't have any access to the Internet sorry

Mine took about an hour.
All systems passed when I ran this test but it's still giving a stop code error message.
It likely means your hardware is good and the fault lies within the OS i.e. is hardware related.

You can boot to Windows Installation Media. If you select Repair instead of Install you can access the command prompt from there.

Some of the tests should push the graphics etc. and fans to ensure they work properly. It shouldn't get hot though.

First thing to do is plug in an external monitor to see if it gives a signal.

It should test the onboard video card and dedicated video card and running diagnostics does not do anything to the data on the Drives.

Ezra Shiram Most of the tests are automated and will run together but some will require some attention from the user.
