    FAQ's:
    Q: What are the buttons you press?
    A: F2 - BIOS, F12 - Diagnostic Options
    Q: What if you cant change between Legacy and UEFI?
    A: If you cant find those options or cant change between them, move on and continue with the rest of the video. What was the result of the Dell diagnostic scan?
    Q: What if the HDD did not pass the test?
    A: If your HDD did not pass the test, that means its either loose or bad. Try 'reseating' it as seen in this video first. If that fails to help, its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. Feel free to ask for help finding a compatible one if you like :)

    Q: I cant run the diagnostic scan. It wont complete or I cant access it.
    A: If you cannot run the scan, we don't know for sure if the HDD is healthy or not. We will have to continue troubleshooting assuming it is for now. If its healthy, and if the issue is operating system related, I would then reinstall it.

    A: If the test shows the HDD to be not installed, that means the HDD is either bad or loose. First, try 'reseating' it as seen here. Try the scan again. If its still saying 'Uninstalled' then its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. After replacing the HDD, install a new Operating System (OS) to it as seen here;

    If this happens to you after a seemingly unrelated project where you had to open the case, one thing to check is to reseat your SSD (if that's your boot device). I recently did a battery replacement and powered back on to No Boot Device. After some troubleshooting (including finding this video), I finally decided to crack the case again to check things out. First thing I saw was the SSD popped out of its slot. In retrospect, that's probably one of the first things I should've checked, but I was a bit in panic mode.

    I wanted to completely restart Windows. So this is what worked for me using a Dell Inspiron 15 5510 that did not support legacy boot, regardless of secure boot being off:
    Changed the drive settings from RAID to AHCI/NVMe (in BIOS).
    Inserted a Windows 10 bootable USB and booted from that.
    Hard Drive(s) were detected unlike before so I selected one.

    Hello! Thank you for the video.
    I recently changed my Dell Latitude 7400 from 256 SSD to 512 SSD. So, after installing windows and by the time i was transferring some files from my external hard disk to the system, it suddenly showed a blue screen error, and subsequently an hard drive not found error. I tried the diagnostic you showed in this video and the result showed that the SSD drive test is not complete. This is the second 512 SSD I would be replacing, I guess I am yet to find one that is compatible with my laptop. What do advise?

I tried all your non physical tricks they didn't really work (especially because legacy isnt supported on mine and theres only one boot option), I pressed power and f2, and at the bottom of all the options was my hard drives name, and I clicked on it and it somehow booted up??? My question is: having in view the Bios is A12 updated and all other drivers are updated, can I update this laptop to Windows 10? Is this update going to be successful? Coz I heard they where many situations of people updating their DELL Vostro for Windows 10 and their laptop screen remained black after this update was made. If your HDD did not pass the test, that means its either loose or bad. Try 'reseating' it as seen in this video first. If that fails to help, its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. Feel free to ask for help finding a compatible one if you like :)
      After installing the new HDD or SSD, remember to install an Operating System (OS) to it.

I tried a bunch of options to save my files to an external device but it seems the options to try new things to fix the laptop become fewer and fewer with each try. At first it allowed me to save files to an external device but the process would never finish and I'd have ro shut down the computer and try again. It no longer gives me the option to save to the external device. Other options are no longer viable either. Not sure what's going on. Everything seemed to be fine until I unplugged it.

    Hello. A friend bought a Dell Inspirion 15 and in BIOS/Setting/General/System information it doesn't show a primary hard drive in DEVICE INFORMATION. What do we do? When we ran the F12 test we got all green check mark except on the CDROM Drive 0-0-0 where there was a red X

    • @PC_Monkey

      Sounds like the CDROM drive is bad then and needs to be replaced. The HDD passed the test though?

    • @X-TremeGaming
      @X-TremeGaming 9 месяцев назад

      Honestly I don't really know what I'm doing. A way to actually write a long description would help or a way to contact you because I'm sure you could help fix this but basically When I start the computer it goes inthe loop where it says it didn't start properly and needs to restart and then you can go to the advanced options et cetera. I don't know if somebody went into bios and changed stuff but when I ran the thorough test everything passed supposedly except the CD rom drive. With that prevent a computer from entering windows operating system? Because it won't go into the operating system at all. I can get to bios and the use of the F12 function for the boot menu but that's about it. I have the administrator password and when I try to run the other options for resetting the computer and all that and it asks for the administrator password and I enter it it doesn't accept it for some reason. There isn't a system password so I know it wouldn't be that. I don't even know what all settings the bios are supposed to be on for each one. Feel bad because she bought this computer and really needed it to work with and she can't get into it past these problems.

      1. If you smell a burned smell, thats really not good. Yes, odds are something is damaged. A board or the drive itself.
      2. What happens when you try to run the scan? Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
