    Second time following your amazing car near Wareham/Poole today, a coincidence it was the same spot a year or so back. Great to see you still have this car after 10 years and amazing to now find these videos to see the background to the build having admired it on the road. Good work! 👍

    These cars have been on the market for over 10 years and I have never seen a performance video. I have never seen a video of how the engine sounds on take off, how the suspension handles, how well the brakes perform, or a drag race.

    • @killerferret666
      @killerferret666  8 лет назад +1

      I don't have access to a track or drag strip. All the things you mention will be different on each build as well dependant on the parts fitted. Braking wise - Solid feel but not servo assisted so needs a fair push, but stops well but expected with 4 pot calipers on a lighter car. Suspension - Again I cant comment on pushing to the limits but then as well as this, the grip you have will depend on the tyres you fit as well as if you set up the suspension yourself. Sound, again down to the exhaust you have made. Its not a racing car in terms of all these things thats for sure, but in terms of driving on the road I dont have any issues.

    • @MrJinwright
      @MrJinwright 8 лет назад +6

      I wasn't implying you should make a video of these things (that would be nice though). It would be nice if Diego and the DDR team did one. A car with the name GT behind it generally means performance.

    Congratulations! Thank you! Some DDR music videos do such a disservice to the designer: because incredibly sorted examples *(like yours) exist. Haters should see these build videos, and reserve judgement until they see them running Sandhills, the Silver State, Lime Rock, Willow Springs, Sebring etc..... Production exotics have a slightly longer wheelbase, are a bit wider, well lower/flatter, but the exorbitant costs of their insane, space saving designs are passed on to the buyers. The DDR's meet somewhere near the middle between a full exotic and a less costly 2+2 production designs like the Porsche 968 or Nissan 370Z's that can be upgraded to full supercars w/ big turbos or (as in the case of the 968's), LSx swaps.
    The performance of your car may ultimately fall a bit below an SLC, or Euro LMP inspired kit, but i'm a future customer--because the design is so awesome. We need to hear motors running and people talking. Not juvenile eye candy + dumb sound effects.The performance may fall a bit below the SLC, but i'm a future customer because the design is so awesome. Thanks again for posting your videos! Congratulations with your awesome car. Hope to see more videos w/ motors running and people discussing the cars. Thanks for not posting juvenile eye candy w/ dumb sound effects.

  • @twofiveone68
    @twofiveone68 8 лет назад

    Looking good so far, though yes the panels still need some alignment and the interior is like a patch job. Those are the areas where a kit car needs the most refinement if you want it to look and feel like a proper car, What are the performance figures?

    • @killerferret666
      @killerferret666  8 лет назад

      +Rob M The interior is coming on well now. Hopefully have a new video in a month or two on that. The performance is around 4.5secs 0-60 currently. I have decided i will go for a 400-450bhp forged engine, that should be plenty and still be a nice drive.

I havent taken it round a track so unsure what the feedback would be like. With no power steering you can feeling what the cars doing, its never felt like it will snap around on me

      +Jonah Richardson Beforehand i had only ever changed brake pads, oil and spark plugs and just decided to give it a go. • @killerferret666
      @killerferret666  8 лет назад

      +M Cheb The biggest thing is being honest with timescales and not saying a timeframe to get the sale. My timescale originally was 6months but took closer to 10months. However since then the 2nd one ordered for the UK was much better. He was told 7 weeks and it took 10 weeks for it to be ready. So hopefully they have learnt on that front. In terms of after sales support they replied to emails etc... but I never expected too much help as the UK regulations are so different to the USA.

      About 6months prepping parts, 10month to build & pass our UK road legal test, then 3 - 4 months to change bits and have it sprayed.

      The Ferret wow....so I guess 16 to 18 weeks is good.....but this is the main shop....

    • @killerferret666
      @killerferret666  5 лет назад

      @@paulvinson1 yea not bad, even for the main shop id expect longer. In the UK most kit manufacturers give a lead time of 12weeks just for a kit to build yourself!

      I don't consider this a "Kit Car', especially if built by DDR. The cost alone shouldn't put in the average Kit Car that I have seen, IMO. :) Just saying .

    how mutch did this car cost you?

    • @killerferret666
      @killerferret666  8 лет назад

      +Game X Four I think the range in cost for building one of these cars would be £25k - £40k depending on what parts you put on the car.

    • @killerferret666

      I reckon you'd be able to, especially to the GT8 chassis design. The other Gt4 chassis design has had a Chevy 6.2l small block with porsche transaxle fitted. so Anything is possible I think as the engine bay is certainly big enough
