Can save 20k by finding a junkyard LS, save 4k by using second hand seats 2k on second hand rims 4k on DIY exhaust or cash job 4k on lights so thats about 14k I wouldnt spend, Still too expensive for my income though. @@richardrichardson3184 Clearly you don't know about the history of Ultima or Mclaren. Ultima was able to use a tiny budget to create something that outclassed it's compitetors and this attracted the attention of Mclaren engineers, they had been told to really out do themselves with the design of the f1, and when they saw what Ultima had done with so little, they not only took on a couple of their kits, they also formed a design partner ship among engineers and many Ultima folks even got jobs with Mclaren because Mclaren designers were that impressed. The Ultima prototypes skyrocketed development for the now legendary f1 eventually became the basis for Gordon's passion project, the t50. Ultima had massive impact on aerodynamic design and racing, anyone who was around back then could tell you that much.

It was a missile.
    I remember Ted saying by the time we reach the crest of that hill we will be at 1210-120mph and it was a very short distance away coming off a roundabout
    You have got triple the BHP of the car I was a passenger in. This amount of torque/ power you at your disposal is extreme as the base car is light.

    Awesome video thanks for sharing. I bought my Ultima GTR as a "going concern" in 2002. It was built for Richard Fox (Fox News), but he wrecked the engine and box on a track day so I bought it as a roller and Peter Knight supplied the engine. I upgraded to a G50 6 speed and Powerhaus supplied 1st and 2nd gear to take the torque. I was torn as I originally wanted to build the car from scratch but this car was too good to turn down and Ultima made a good job of building it. At the time my non-petrol head friends thought I was mad, stating I should buy another house rather than waste money on a car. Nearly 20 years on I am convinced I made the right choice. What good is a 200mph car when you are 55? I had the reaction times back then and the car was a bucket list tick that most people would never select. Great choice on parts and I look forward to the updates.

    Superb videos. Most people who buy supercars are over-rich wankers, who don't deserve the privilege. On the other side of things, this guy is a proper motorist- he has earned the right to own great machinery, by doing the work to a professional standard, and educating us all with the films. Good luck mate.

    165K for bespoke tailored hyper car which this will be is a steal, sure it may have the stigma of a kit car, but building it yourself, especially to the highest of standards marks it as something special, remember no two Ultima's are alike, and a we've passed comment on here before, the rarity here for you in the States with an Ultima is off the scale. Bugger all Ultima's in the UK for that matter.
    I wealthy friend use to own the F40, nice pin up car, but when you have the opportunity to get close and personal with it warts and all like I was able to do so the build quality was horrific, this Ultima is leagues ahead with the added bonus of reliability with the GM/Porsche drive train. Loving this build and looking forward to more vids.

    You’re absolutely right accurate about the price of headlights. I work for an auto body parts store and just for a used BMW i8 headlight at our cost is $4,000 for each. Brand new from the dealer they’re looking at a total cost at our price for $7,000 each.

    The only thing better about the other cars you compared it to, in the same price range, would possibly be crash worthiness. Airbags, crumple zones, etc. No one ever plans to crash a car, but we share the road with a lot of people with questionable driving skills. Looking forward to more build videos, this is fun to watch. 👍🏼

    $170 for a DIY kit Ultima is actually not bad. I drove a first gen Ultima that a good friend of mine took to Watkins Glen regularly and it truly is an unprecedented experience. It's worth it, especially since it can spank a lot of supercars that are running middle 6 figures, but you need to keep deep pockets for maintenance costs, parts, etc.

    Thank you. After watching this video (and your cost summary) I feel a whole lot better about my Corvette C7 build. I bought my lowly starter car as a Copart flood car and Texas Speed will be building the motor for it complete with a custom Procharger implementation. Shooting for 1,000hp+ on 93 octane.

    • @UltimateUltimaRS
      @UltimateUltimaRS  3 года назад

      Sounds like an awesome project and I bet you saved a ton of money getting it from Copart! How bad was the flood damage?

    • @Mike-In-O-Town
      @Mike-In-O-Town 3 года назад +2

      @@UltimateUltimaRS From what I can tell, the car apparently nosed into a ditch or pond, the front end/motor went under and sucked in water, hydrolocked, and damaged some internals. Not a huge issue as the motor is going to be completely build by Texas Speed. Short of that the cockpit and body are in really good shape. Made a great shell for a project car. Cleetus McFarland has a C7 with a similar build if you want to check out his channel. The end goal is to have a streetable car that could be daily driven that turns out 1,000hp+ on pump gas. Not nearly as exotic and unique as your build, but should piss off the neighbors pretty good for a lot less coin.

      @@Mike-In-O-Town That's awesome man. I'd love to do something like that once I have more garage space. And I assume you're talking about Ruby. I've seen both Ruby and Leroy run passes down the ¼ mile in person and they're awesome to watch. Texas Speed is legit too so you're definitely making something cool for sure. Best of luck in your build for sure!

    • @Mike-In-O-Town
      @Mike-In-O-Town 3 года назад

      @@UltimateUltimaRS No, Cleetus has another C7 he just finished (kinda) that he's running on the street. Check out his channel for more. His car sounds like it could suck in a complete troop of boy scouts with that huge ProCharger. That car sounds down right mean. Maybe when I'm done with mine I'll go search out Mr. McFarland and challenge him to a race. Have to be careful though, I don't have the budget for repairs/rebuilds he does. :-)

    • @UltimateUltimaRS

      @@Mike-In-O-Town Yes, the white C7... makes sense now that I realize you were talking about his Procharged car. I like that charge cooler under the passenger headlight and I did see the latest video where he was doing pulls with Jeremy tuning. Bad ass build for sure. Now you know what yours is going to sound like!
