What an awesome journey! I hope cars like this and companies like Ultima survive the changes that the auto industry is going through. Thank you for sharing this little piece of your life with us!
Ultima has a bright future with a big order book. Legislation tends to leave the industry alone since it supports such a huge number of suppliers and specialists.
I found this channel in December and binged it all. The level of attention to detail in the car and production is so nice. BTW those stands really made the Ultima look massive in the garage, the bus at 16:30 really showed how low it is lol. Beautifully done Dean and Roofus.
Congrats Nigel! I've watched every episode. Thank you for documenting your journey building this beast. I celebrated along with you during that first overtake. Well done!
That first overtake was wicked. She just squatted down and I was fired down the road. This is typical road use, and the LS3 is superb since you can basically gun it without concerns of the rears spinning up. A lovely power to weight ration in my mind

It’s been a great journey, thank you for taking all the time you have for producing the content and such a beautiful car. Fantastic job Nigel👏 Not just building the RS but taking the time to video the process. Excellent video. Well done Nigel. I know that grin from ear to ear. I've been driving my Sport for nearly 24 years now and the reaction from pedestrians and other drivers is priceless. You know they've seen you when you pull up behind another car as its starts to drift off course because the driver is watching only your car in his mirror. Look out for that one. 😂
Congrats to you Nigel! What an amazing machine you build. I watched every episode religiously and was waiting for this one for quite some time. I really enjoyed your content. Now, next step will be to build one of my own. Thanky ou for sharing your journey!
Nigel, I'm so glad that there is more to come. My big worry was that this would be all over, so thanks for that. There is nothing like a V8 and going further, there is nothing like the big right-now-torque of the LS that you've installed in your Ultima RS. It would be nice to see a movie length episode with whatever you have in store for us. Bring a good supply of water, as a palate cleanser, after you gobble up all of the Porsches, Ferraris and other cars. Light weight plus a V8, can't wait.
Thank you for your comment. This has been a long journey and exhausting at the same time. What next, still unsure but one thing is for sure I need a rest
What a fantastic Achievement Nigel! A beautiful car and have been watching your videos for some time now. Congratulations!!!! Everything about this car is just incredible!!!! The sound, the look from every angle, the sound…LOL!
Thanks Craig. It's both a work of art and a road-going supercar slayer. She sounds astonishing also. Words escape me when it comes to sharing the in-cockpit experience. Hope you enjoyed the episode? Cheers Nigel
I’ve been waiting all weekend to watch this and it didn’t disappoint!!!! I was grinning almost as much as you Nigel. Definite inspiration to all of us prospective builders. Can’t wait to get stuck into my build. Still deciding between the Autotune Aristocat or the XCS long tail Cobra. Cant wait to see what your Ultima can do on the track.

It’s amazing to see the comparison in height when you’re passing by other vehicles, especially the bus. Even by supercar standards, she’s very low indeed. Bring on the next 130 miles so we can all see the real beast unleashed……..
Congrats, Nigel! Nice to see it driving for the first time. Your build videos helped make my first drive feel the same way. I really like the "wiper cam". I'll have to try that out on mine. Cheers!

As you say when you see an Ultima in real life it stops you in your tracks. The reactions are so funny and I'm always happy to have a chat

Congratulations Nigel. Mine is close to ready. We hoped to have it on the road this weekend, but found electrical gremlins in the Ultima wire harness. Hopefully it is an easy fix.
Wow, you are sooooo close. Enjoy that first drive and but take it easy. Even though my video looks dramatic, I took it really easy for the first 50 miles or so ensuring I checked the RS between drives. Apart from that, lots of smiles ahead :-)
Some great sound tracks to come on the channel as I open her up. As regards livery and forced injection let's wait and see. For the time being I want to get her spot on in every respect as regards set-up etc.
Congratulations Nigel! I have very much enjoyed watching the build. Any chance you could post your build sheet? About to sell some of my cars and put a deposit down and build my own. Thanks again!!
Hi Joe, since I purchased my components through the build prices will have changed. So my suggestion is contact the Ultima factory and ask for a price for the components to build a Nigel Dean car. I have basically gone for every option bar a couple but the end result is bonkers in every respect :-)
Actually driving the RS they don't impact visibility too much. Half of the reason they are that wide is to accommodate the width of the roll cage which is made from 2 inch diameter tube if my memory serves me correctly.
Congratulations on getting the car on the road and “finished” (we all know these things are never finished) Looking forward to seeing the car on track next where it belongs 😉
No specific issues, it just takes a little time to get the car though IVA and then request registration. IVA slots are sometimes difficult to get and you can easily wait a month. Then if you fail on something simple, you have to wait another month for a retest. Sometime you can get a cancellation which brings accelerates things but red tape takes time. :-)
2 years of spannering (half of which was making this video series), but what a feeling!!! This machine is beyond incredible. Also 370 miles covered and no issues. Thanks for your comment :-)
@@v8creative It took me almost 18 years to prepare my car from a blank sheet of paper to receiving the license plates. But it was worth it. Enjoy the ride ;-)
I have watched pretty much all of the episodes. Great car. But is this 5 point racing seat belt during touring not very dangerous? You have no airbags and when you crash your body stays fixed and your head will continue going forward. That's why you have the HANS safety system. Use normal seat belts which build up resistance when you tour, use helmet with HANS in combination with the 5 point seat belts when your on the track. My advice.
Full harnesses have been used for decades in road cars and there are no stats to suggest they are any more dangerous then inertia reel belts. That is why they are legal in the UK for road use and fully CE marked. In fact a friend of mine had a 50mph head on accident with a Volvo in a Westfield wearing a full harness. I passed the scene and the Westfield had literally folded at the centre point - not nice. He suffered broken ribs but the ambulance crew said the full harness saved him from more significant injuries since it kept him square in the car and allowed an even distribution of the immense force his body experienced. He suffered no whiplash which is amazing I must admit. Yes a Hans device adds an additional level of safety but a bit of pain when going to Tescos :-). Thanks for the comment and support of the channel. Nigel and Rufus
Holy Cow, have I been waiting (impatiently) for THIS one!!! Wind in my hair! Oh wait, I don't have enough hair. Awesome anyways! And Nigel ??? Is that your wife ??? She is stunning Sir!
Look at Flori's Friends Rescue, reflect on fast driving and the consequences for others. Safe driving Nigel, been reading your builds in Which Kit? and Kit Car magazines years ago. Beautiful build quality on all, did like the Dax Tojeiro a lot.
@@v8creative I used to live in Berkshire and have friends in Yeovil. Can’t tell you how many times I cursed the 303 ! Live in US now and we really can’t build Ultima’s here in the same way you can in UK sadly.

Nigel, Nigel, Nigel...missed you. Many questions. Will you add a front axle lift, air jacks, supercharger? I bet Lady Dean is relieved about your milestone. Id also add a keyed battery disconnect to prevent it being nicked. Will Ultima Sports have a next gen RS or a new model coming out?
Sorry for the few weeks gap. Red tape! Anyway, front lift option. Nope, I have been doing a fair amount of speed bump negotiation and she manages juts fine. I'm going to cover it in an episode. Supercharger - let's see. As regards another model, I don't know but I doubt it in the short term. The RS is in such demand the factory are flat out trying to meet the 18 month+ pipeline of orders they currently have.
I have been a passenger with a race driver in a few cars and I have been terrified. So I don't think I could bare the stress. I also get travel sick :-)

As you say when you see an Ultima in real life it stops you in your tracks. The reactions are so funny and I'm always happy to have a chat
I can feel your excitement, awesome ❤
I tend to naturally share my emotions - the positive ones at least
Hi Nigel Great video and channel enjoyed seeing the car which we have chatted about. Shame our shop wasn't in the video whilst filming in Salisbury. Ian and the team
Thanks for the comment and the picture of Mum is superb. I'll make sure I get you in shot the next time I drive by :-)
Congratulations Nigel ❤
I watched many of your videos and
Have enjoyed your process - you’ve certainly shown it can be done -
So glad you can experience the feeling of the ultima - welcome to the road - hope to meet you sometime in the U.K. 👍 mines currently having a new transmission fitted with lots of other personal mods
Thanks for the support. In fact this is my second Ultima build. A GTR in 2003, and now a RS in 2023/4. 20 years apart :-)
Hell yeah! Great to see it finished :)
Yep, it's been a long journey. Now for the fine tuning to get her truly on song
How about a star turn on Harrys Garage when its run-in???
Who knows what the future will hold :-)
Big congratulations dean and rufus..well done 🎊🎉👍
Rufus is going out for a ride in the next episode. He is waiting for the full 6,600 rpm to be on tap :-)
Thank you for sharing this amazing build. 👏 🎉
My pleasure, more content to come
Looks fantastic Nigel, well done mate.
Cheers, she just looks out of this world.
Very similar number plate to ours V8 ULT
Amazing work dean ❤️
Yes, they could be a pair. Just that finishing touch
@@v8creative I go to see Richard in a couple of weeks to order mine. We built a GTR back in 2003 and now I’m hungry for the fastest ultima ever built! Now imagine a fossil free v8 308mph ultima RS…
I'm just about to market my number plate V8 ULM. Wondered if you wanted first refusal? No worries if not :-). Ping me on ultimars@nigeldean.co.uk if interested
Congratulations Nigel! Job so well done.
Thanks Chuck
What a fantastic build Nigel, 1st class, what's next ?
@@nevergiveup6809 thank you and a rest ;-)
Congratulations Nigel. Mine is close to ready. We hoped to have it on the road this weekend, but found electrical gremlins in the Ultima wire harness. Hopefully it is an easy fix.
Wow, you are sooooo close. Enjoy that first drive and but take it easy. Even though my video looks dramatic, I took it really easy for the first 50 miles or so ensuring I checked the RS between drives. Apart from that, lots of smiles ahead :-)
It's been a great journey! Can't wait to see you put the foot down after break in. Are you still planning on livery and a supercharger?
Some great sound tracks to come on the channel as I open her up. As regards livery and forced injection let's wait and see. For the time being I want to get her spot on in every respect as regards set-up etc.
Glorious. Loking forwards to what the Juicebox fellas say, "Rings Lad!"
Hi Jim, don't think my wife would approve :-). Had to look up what 'Rings Lad' actually meant by the way :-). Showing my age
So finally u get 2 drive Ur Beast Nigel . Xcellent. So super happy 4U . Robert 🇦🇺 Australia 🇦🇺 😅
@@Robert-mn8gc thank you. Going out again tonight :-)
Forever one of my dream cars. I loved seeing the reaction of the passengers. I am very happy for you, my friend!
Reactions are the best. More to come :-)
🎉🎉🎉 excellent series, looking forward to more from the Den 👍😉
More Dean Den on its way
Congratulations Nigel!
Finally finished! Enjoy this beast 😄
Yep over the finish line, but these projects are never truly finished. :-)
@@v8creative Haha can't wait for the supercharger
Fantastic car.. I wish those a-pillers were a bit smaller though....
Actually driving the RS they don't impact visibility too much. Half of the reason they are that wide is to accommodate the width of the roll cage which is made from 2 inch diameter tube if my memory serves me correctly.
Congratulations on getting the car on the road and “finished” (we all know these things are never finished)
Looking forward to seeing the car on track next where it belongs 😉
Maybe one day
Excellent car, great work Nigel
Appreciated
Looks and sounds fantastic 👌
Thanks Bruno, and for your continued support of the channel
Congrats on the project Nigel, Tell us what the issues were with getting the beast licenced. Cheers from Western Australia
I know the feeling. It's one of the best you can experience ;-)
Enjoy the ride ;-)
congratulations absolute weapon.
A weapon indeed
Saw the car drive through Salisbury City not long ago
Yep, I did the circuit about 4 or 5 times to catch some footage
Its does keep you at the safest part of this car
Congratulations
Nice job 👏
@@Cigar0812 thank you. Out her again last night filming the next episode
Holy Cow, have I been waiting (impatiently) for THIS one!!! Wind in my hair! Oh wait, I don't have enough hair. Awesome anyways! And Nigel ??? Is that your wife ??? She is stunning Sir!
HaHa, nope that's my wife's auntie. Funny thing is she doesn't know she is in the video :-). I'll tell her tomorrow
Glorious!!
Thank you
Do you know what ULM stands for in French? Ultra Léger Motorisé, so Motorized ultralight. That's a great plate!
Now I have learnt something new today :-)
@@v8creative It's the equivalent of the Light Sport Aircrafts in the US but since your car has a wing...
Oh no, you going to send it ! Don't tell me this car is going to be a give away prize !
Now that made me smile. If only I had the funds to do a free raffle but my life savings are in this machine.
Look at Flori's Friends Rescue, reflect on fast driving and the consequences for others. Safe driving Nigel, been reading your builds in Which Kit? and Kit Car magazines years ago. Beautiful build quality on all, did like the Dax Tojeiro a lot.
Wow, the Cobra build was 2005. A while back now. :-).
Nice part of the country for driving. As long as you avoid the 303 :-) Thruxton next ?
Yep, Wiltshire is an amazing county. Top Gear magazine do a lot of car shoots around where I live. As you say just avoid the A303
@@v8creative I used to live in Berkshire and have friends in Yeovil. Can’t tell you how many times I cursed the 303 ! Live in US now and we really can’t build Ultima’s here in the same way you can in UK sadly.
Congratulations Dean. I've been watching your series on this Car from the beginning. Quality throughout with all your little Details which make it look Superb and that Woofly V8 with Kart like handling will keepyou Smiling ( and the Wife) for a long time!!.Well Done👏
Thank you for the comment. You can't beat a V8
Abolutely wicked! 🔥🏄
Spot on. She is a beast
Congratulations
Thanks Chris
What a beauty....
She is stunning
How long until you bump the revs up?
500 miles and she is run in, so in about a weeks time
Nigel, Nigel, Nigel...missed you.
Been waaaaaaay to busy driving the RS to bother making a vid 😂😂
Hi Ian, just some red tape. Enjoy the first drive
@v8creative cant wait to hear it on full throttle 😉😁😁
Have you considered finding a race driver to give it the full beans on a circuit, with you as a passenger?
I have been a passenger with a race driver in a few cars and I have been terrified. So I don't think I could bare the stress. I also get travel sick :-)
Awesome!
Cheers
I love the reaction of your wife
@@anidiotinaracingcar thanks, and in fact that was my wife’s auntie :-). I must say she was the perfect passenger for the first drive
