This was an awesome interview and Premier has all of these memories like it happened yesterday!! Premier will always be an Elite Hip Hop producer and wish him luck to be a Motion Picture soundtrack producer as well!!!
This was perhaps the most in-depth DJ Premier interview I've ever watched. Thank you! It would be great to see some photos of Premo and Guru's apartment one day.
Some people just *are* classic & Premier might be the best example of that. He doesn't have to do anything extra, doesn't have to change, "keep up with the times", or do no new nonsense. *Premier IS classic Hiphop* Evem more impressive to me than the Group Home album is that last Gang Starr album. It would be impressive if he made it sound like one of the old Gang Starr albums but he managed to make it sound like a genuine Gang Starr album that was ORIGINAL & different like it would be if Guru were alive. It's not "a classic", it IS classic. He would've had to fuck it up for it not to be cause he's Premier.
thats how I became aware of producers. Having "Hard to Earn" and seeing that dope picture of the foundation. Then seeing his name on the best cuts on Illmatic and Ready to Die and making the connection. I was like ok so the producer means something.....
my greatest inspiration to buy my first technics 1200's with my first salary and start learning to cut it up like premier. favorite producer & DJ since forever!
Learned & realized some new things here like DJ Premier's connection with Travis Scott's father, his last time with Guru and Big L's mother telling Lord Finesse that he's in charge with Big L's The Big Picture album.
As the biggest gangstarr fan I thought i was the only one who truely learned from this interview but apparently many other fans felt just like I did which shows how dedicated we are.. we hang on every word I love the way premier said in 1:09 he entered the ( you'll see mode ) I would love to have asked him where did guru write his rhymes.. was it in a nice place or was it in a messy room like most of us live like.. how long did it take guru from start to finish and did he have to stop in between to do daily chores like everyone else or did he lock himself away and ignore everyone Things like that are the most fascinating
What’s the name of the host? He’s a great interviewer. Asks thoughtful questions, listens intently and asks follow up questions and probably most importantly, doesn’t interrupt!
I hate how in the description the first rapper you want to mention in terms of DJ Premier’s collaboration is Jay Z… Preemo’s best work was displayed with Nas, not Jay Z. Talk about the collab album with Nas we all have been waiting decades for.
For you saying that goes to you that you hate Jay Z. Him and Jay did great work together. Him and Nas does great work together too but his best work is not with Nas only. Preemo does great work with everybody. Not just Nas. What about his other collabs? Also that Nas and Preemo collab is not gonna happen. That was talked about since early 2000s. It is what it is. Nas is known to say something to put it in the air and it never happens.

@DJ Premier, first of all, I'm a huge fan of your music and I really appreciate your interview videos, in particular because of your incredible ability to recall all those events to such great detail, including the names of all the individuals involved and present. That being said though, now that we learn how Diddy apparently was the Epstein of the rap industry (from the 'Jones v. Combs et al' 02/26/24 court files), I wonder whether you have witnessed or experienced any such activities at the Diddy parties you apparently attended - activities such as: drugs, spiked drinks, prostitutes, underage girls, grooming of artists into acts of homosexuality, and sexual blackmail (since Diddy's residences were fully rigged with hidden cameras) .. ?
