The same sheisty cats that you hang with, and do your thang with could set you up and wet you up, nigga peep the language It's universal, you play with fire it may hurt you or burn you, lessons are blessings you should learn through-"moment of truth" Gangstarr, my favorite song if his no doubt
He's on my top 3. Moment Of Truth was full of jewels that I still live by today! I never thought of GURU being an underrated MC until I started participating in discussions. It's mad crazy knowing a lot of people that don't name him on their top 5 or at least top 10. Facts!
+Bizzy jones ofc we got a lotta great producers but he is really the best tbh. Look at his work, how he helped all them rappers and him to grow up with his art.
Rap Genius, I love how you have a host here that has true knowledge and appreciation of the music and not just someone hired to do a job. It greatly increased the chemistry and enjoyability of this video, keep it up!
The craziest part about it is that the Represent that ended up on Illmatic was technically a remix! Premo made the original, Nas laced the track but then when he heard what Large Pro and Q-Tip had done, he wanted to rework it. It took some convincing from Nas but eventually it was redone and the end result is the track that ended up on Illmatic.
For those, who dont know the instrumentals at the start: 1. Nas - NY State of Mind 2. Jay Z - Intro: A Million and One Questions / Rhyme No More 3. Gang Starr - Mass Appeal 4. The Notoroius B.I.G. - Ten Crack Commandments
"AYO"!!! "ABOVE The CLOUDS" One of my "TOP 2" Preemo Jointz of "ALLLLLL TIME"!!!!!!! Between DAT and "You Know My Steez"!!! Jus SUMTHIN Bout da WAY dat Preem ALIGNED dem fuckin SAMPLEZ Up on dem two jointz waz like "Magical Musical ALCHEMY"!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥💯

Great interview....been down with Primo from Day 1 with Gang Starr....and I agree with him on "Hard To Earn", one of my favorite all time hip hop albums....
He is a genius. Look at the repetitiveness of mass appeal and all the other great songs. He makes it work somehow. His ear for samples is almost unmatched
Premier is a hip hip wizard! He really was productive. There were other amazing producers during that time, like Lord Finesse, Large Professor, Diamond, and Showbiz to name a few, but Premier was a step ahead. Take it Personal was my favorite beat he ever made.
dj is the only producer that wll make you look at your frend wied eyed as soon as the beat hits before any words are said you know if a premier beat is special
I wish someone who really knew the music like that would interview him. He's always asked these same questions centered around his work with Biggie, Jay-Z & Nas.
IMHO Dre doesn't have it in him any more, his style has really fell off over the last 6 to 8 years. I guess 100MIL + business ventures will do that to you.
Guru has some of the illest most underrated bars in hip hop,the man was nice asf with the pen

Whenever Preme starts telling stories, I feel like a little kid listening to my Grandpa telling stories back when I was little.

The God Rakim and Primo make Classic bangers and Rakim brings out the best in Primo. Besides most Primo classics have a Rakim sample in 'em..🙌💯
I wish someone who really knew the music like that would interview him. He's always asked these same questions centered around his work with Biggie, Jay-Z & Nas.

And Preemo... SALUTE TO THE OG
As a massive Premo fan, this is incredible! Great work
Thank you for doing this video.
Preemo and Dre should do an album together and call it....
"THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS".
IMHO Dre doesn't have it in him any more, his style has really fell off over the last 6 to 8 years. I guess 100MIL + business ventures will do that to you.
Detox was better than Compton
what "style"?oh ,you mean adding drums over 6 second loops of hits from the 70s?yeah...."style"
@@ColinTBlack 100mil?
This should have millions of views. New generation should watch this.
