It's really cool to hear how he felt like the new internet generation opened up his career. Even after such a legendary career to that point, he never got "stuck in his ways", he also doesn't act like there was a "right" way to do it back when he first started getting money and buzz. He was just stumbling through determined to do it like anyone else.

I've watched literally every alchemist interview in existence... and in retrospect... even READ as well...as the VERY FIRST INTERVIEWS Al had were IN MAGAZINES like the source and XXL back in the day ...and I was already STAN'NG this dude back in high school (the late 90s) after hearing his beats with buc 50. Then the first defari album and dilated
and this is by FAR THE MOST IN DEPTH he has ever been about his EVOLUTION...not only in how his career in rap came .. but also in his personal life
Hes never told that story in depth about Will..Ev..AM..etc and all them freestyling at the club.. or how he started kicking it with cypress cuz of their managment.
And the tutor.. what what conversations with his COLLEGE ADVISORS were like etc.
in the early 2000s...P and the MOBB had like 7 underground dvds for sale on sites like ughh.. and I had all of em... and AL was in all of em.
It was funny to hear him tell the story of how him and the infamous mobb linked up.. cus he told a story before about how when they first met.. they all thought his name was "OPTIMO" .. and for like the first week they were kicking it they were calling OPTIMO and he didnt correct then..which when visualizing always makes me laugh 😁😅😅🤣🤣
THANK YOU FOR THIS INTERVIEW ....

      @@TheDoknoh np bro.
      You got something special here.
When I wrote this earlier I was only into the first half of the interview as well
I cant believe how much in detail AL went about the second half of his career from Chemical Warfare up until now and the ups and downs he experienced.
From an outsider looking in. I wouldve NEVER KNOWN how he wasnt happy during the time of CHEMICAL WARFARE and how he was dealing with that internal struggle of tryna match 1st infantry.. and that he was tryna MARKET IT as a big project ... and that Jim JONES story and all that.
I just always thought .. ALS A BEAST and he works and puts out QUALITY beats and projects at a consistently high level and these are all of his projects he LOVES.
It's so crazy to see him talk about how CURRENSY put him on to the new wave of the independent rap hustle with CC. And how it was a blueprint for his business model now with all of his full length solo albums hes done with all these artists on ALC.
I legit assumed this was all calculated and planned out meticulously.. so to see it was just him going into all of these situations blind not knowing his next play is pretty INSPIRING
this Is legit the best al interview .. out in all of history bro
You really got him to open up about EVERYTHING.
      Thank you for this 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Can't knock the talent but in terms of advice on how to get a break like Alchemist.
    1. Get born rich and live in Beverly Hills.
    2. Start a Hip Hop crew with the son of a major Hollywood star,
    3. Get signed despite not having any songs and go on tour with the biggest names in your era of Hip Hop while still in school.
    4. Get them to show you how to make beats.
    5. Get some more tips at the house of the most famous producer in music history
    etc etc.
He's got an ear and talent no question but he's slightly skirting over how easy a lot of those opportunities came to him. A lot of people who coulda woulda shoulda ended up doing the minimum wage 9-5 that wasn't on the cards for him while he was developing his skills.

Still, adaptability. If you watched it you'd see that all that stuff never really worked for him, he had those breaks but they didn't cement anything. Knxwledge, who did not come from that rich background, showed him how to make money and be happy at the same time. You can pay Google/RUclips/meta for advertising your own stuff right now, use that 9-5 money to invest in yourself, don't buy stupid shit etc these are lessons to learn from the video as well as the fact he literally said the music industry is disgusting.....so why would you want to break into that life anyway?

If I was friends with Will.I.Am and Evidence, and then Quincy Jones, and then on tour making $30,000 to buy weed for an artist, while in high school, I'm pretty sure I'd know that I was going to be successful if I soaked up the knowledge and wisdom and my surroundings. This man is one of the GOATs and it is insane seeing him talk about his own life for the very first time after following him for like thirty years

      @yanceyboyz 2 года назад

Will and evidence were not famous at that point and it wasn't Quincy Jones it was Jnr, Q, who was fairly known in hip hop production for a Tupac beat here or there but we aren't talking his father's legacy and Thriller here lol.

The Legendary Traxster got me into beats, back in the 90s; but Alchemist definitely helped shape my creativity though, for sure… Dudes a true master of his craft… He made a lot of his classic shit on the ASR-10, and when I found that out I went straight to EBay in search of a used ASR LOL

for me, it's the beginning of a relationship, those rose colored lens. everything seems to be hitting in your 2-8 bar loop, but eventually you get over the "3 month" honeymoon phase. you either love it or you don't, could've all been in the moment or maybe you realize what you put in the work for is most special to you. This is the emotional part, you don't need a soul to listen to your beat but you're so proud of what you've done after listening to the same loop over and over again...like "damn, i made this? this shit is fire". smiles, laughs, you might even start playing that shit in your car. take your beat on a drive, take your beat to the park while you play ball, take it to the store in your headphones like you're talking to your girl or your best friend on the phone. i love producing, closing in on 500 beats but ti treated a lot of them like side pieces.
that is a long ass paragraph. even if one person reads this, keep doing what you love and don't seek acknowledgement or recognition from anyone. money/payment does not define who you are as a producer. the industry is just politics, i gave up but that little hand flick i do when the beat drops? that shit isn't going away, ever.

"Producing is kind of psychology, more than technology". That's Induction, and the technology is a tool required to induce or ignite the feeling and act.
Alot of it is knowing how(technical know how,ie how to use technology as a tool to induce, seduce and create with), knowing how to communicate the value of what you want using technology as a tool to induce it or make it happen.

One thing that stood out about this interview, outside of all the other great stuff, is that Al continually said that DJ Mugs was paying him well, While he was under his tutelage. Also, that DJ lethal wasn't a hater, and taught him what equipment to buy and how to pick records etc. Always good to hear stories like this
