Thyroid Cancer (also known as Thyroid Carcinoma) is a cancer of the thyroid gland (which is an endocrine gland located in the anterior portion of the neck). There are 4 main types of thyroid cancer, each having similar signs and symptoms with some exceptions. In this lesson, we discuss the signs and symptoms of thyroid cancer and why those signs and symptoms occur.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge of these cancers that are close to my heart. I had just turned 21 when I was diagnosed with both Papillary and Follicular Cancers. That was after 2 major surgeries, a modified radical neck dissection. Also got a trach AND also a nice case of caused all sorts of emergency bells and running residents. After body scans that uses to take all day, I did have metastatic areas all in my neck, my throat and throughout my chest. I had two massive doses of radioactive iodine. So far I have been negative for recurrence and that was all about 33 years ago! Oh, and I was an RN for years so I'm happy to share this with my friends and fellow medical people!

So happy to hear about your situation. I also got this last year n also guver high dose of RAI. pl kindly tell me didnt you get any side effects fir RAI. I have been suffering dry mouth syndrome after that and various aches and pains.

Kudos to you n remain positive. I’m doin round two n ittl probably b #3 at some time. It was 14 years inbetween n hope it’s 20 next time. 68 y o male now.

Doctor found nodules on both sides of my thyroid . One was large on the one side,the other smaller. Surgeon wanted to remove the large one and just watch the other. I said No and decided to have it totally removed. Taking a pill everyday is far better than the worrying
I have Hypertheorism and I’ve had a sore throat yesterday I am a bit worried but I will get it check soon.
Pararathoid disease can also cause sore throat

@@Pris_Darkonothing thankfully it wasn’t anything like thyroid cancer. Hypertheorism is an imbalance of hormones. Thankfully my medication has been helping.
Everyone with throid problems should always check there pararatyroid leves, calcium, and vitamin d
Only my vit D levels were low , but if I see I didn't used to go out in the sun much and study inside my room all day long . My calcium and other things are fine. Should I be worried about low vitamin D ?
What about if you should biopsy a hypothyroid or when should you? Also does the body temp show in this disease? Or what about viral loads on the thyroid and its similarities to other symptoms in the thyroid?
I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I made a choice to save my thyroid glands by treating this disease without surgery!!

I just turned 70 yrs young. I’m known as a Downwinder from Hanford. There aren’t many of us left. There was a radioactive leak from the Hanford nuclear plant during the 1950’s. The radioactive material settled on pastures. The cows were out there eating the grass. As a baby I was fed the milk produced by the grazing cows. Since the thyroid picks up iodine, my thyroid tissue took it in. All of my teen years my doctor could feel a nodule. To treat this, and possibly make it shrink, I took levothyroxin which is a synthetic iodine hormone. Took it for many years. I had just turned 30 yrs old and was having my first child by emergency C-Section. As I was being entubated the anesthesiaologist felt the nodule and biopsied it. I woke up with my thyroid surgically removed. To kill the remaining thyroid tissue I took a capsule of radioactive iodine. I was RADIOACTIVE and put into a hospital room under quarantine since remaining radioactive iodine was expelled by the body through your perspiration and your urine. I was told that I couldn’t be in 6 ft of an infant! Hanford Nuclear Plant has NEVER admitted that they had the leak. For all of that torture, i was never compensated for all of the physical and mental I had to go through!!! That’s my story and I wanted to share it as I have a different cancer of which I’m under hospice care and will die very soon.

Thyroid problems fit well into my understanding of how the human body works. You see...I'm pursuing the reasoning that an arthritic sternum puts pressure on the menubrium which restricts the efficiency of the RATPLANT organs. So much so that lymph cannot reach beyond this level and it is vital that it should. It's early days yet but to overcome these problems we need a lot of endurance and mine came from prayer and searching for accuracy in the teaching of Jesus Christ.

Do u know of any info on thyroblastoma ? I have this one my second bout of cancer. Only things I’ve found r 50/50 chance of dying from it ,ittl probably return n cells form in embryonic development. I’ve had thyroid removed but they don’t have any info on follow up treatment. May b a new one I guess but new is iffy ??
I have a 3cm mass close to my thyroid. I don't have any of these symptoms. I'm scheduled to have an ultrasound in a couple of days. Hoping it's some kind of benign growth.
Check its not a huge lymph node. Not good if so.
According to normal TSH level , My TSH level is ×3 .
Now i m worried about it, and my neck is swelling even today's my neck is hurting and right side of neck I feel something tight ball but left side of neck is fine .

Possibly an underactive thyroid. I'm not a doctor though. TSH is what stimulates the secretion of thyroxine, the more of it there is, the less thyroxine in your blood

Hi Sonna my mom has Thyroid Cancer and I am so worried about her I am trying to find out how to heal this without removing the Thyroid we have heard of people healing by eating healthy foods, has eating healthy foods healed you? @@Adem19811 it was discovered I had a lump on my thyroid. Biopsy stated Suspicious Papillary Carcinoma... so they took it out and am waiting now to find out if it is cancer or not. Otherwise I don't feel too bad thanks.

@@plutonem4995 so, I am all good, but it is carcinoma, and I need to see another Specialist for him to determine that I am all clear and / or need iodine therapy ? This Specialist feels that I will not need any other treatment. I feel 100% better and am quite happy and not concerned. Thank you ! Hope you are ok.
Last week I noticed that I had lump on my left side neck .. went to doctor n done many tests ultrasound n needle aspiration.. biopsy result shows no malignancy found..
they diagonised I have goitre of mass 4 cm.
Now I'm having 3 months old baby ..I'm on postpartum period ..
Blood test is normal .. doctor advised me to wait for another 6 months ,they told after 6 monthst again they will test n decide ..if this grows they do surgery..
I don't know actually what it is .. I'm worried .
Pls give me some solution for this

Just a simple thyroidectomy. Takes about 2 hours and u home in the same day.
I have lump in the side of my neck near the ear, it hurts a bit when i touch them, i dont have any other symptoms aside for a cough and i started to notice the lymp when i had a neck pain a couple of days ago is this thyroid cancer? The lump also isnt visible but i can touch it from the inside a bit
😂😂😂 not all lumps are cancers buddy. Don't worry. Even for the infections also lymph glans swell and they fight. So for common cold and fever also it swells. Just consult a doctor. 😊😊 Don't worry dear
How can I ask my doctor if I want to see if it’s possible I have thyroid cancer? I was diagnosed sat the age of 15 and it’s been about 6 years, I’m 21 now, since I’ve had thyroid. I’ve only been okay, around last year is when I began to feel bad constantly in bed running a fevers and throat pains. And just recently my voice began to change and each time I take my medication it hurts to swallow them so I’m getting anxious and scared. My doctor haven’t really said anything just that my thyroid is not leaved.
All thyroid are not cancer dear.. u should visit ur dr. U will b feel better..

Is it safe to biopsy the cancerous thytoid nodule? Some stories about they experience on biopsy...so afraid of biopsy, they said it is ok for benign nodules how about cancerous nodules?
Its very safe. If you don't feel anything when the needle goes into the nodule it is more likely cancerous. If it is a slight pin feeling it should be fine.
I've heard the exact same, that if it's cancerous the needle can potentially release the toxins in that gland throughout the body.. I've just recently had an ultrasound, mine came back as multi nodular goitre with numerous spongiform type nodules throughout.. I have no idea what any of it means.. My doc did not get it touch with me about it, I found out the findings on my online medical app.. Wishing us prayers..
