Hi friends, I hope you enjoy the video. If you are looking for a quick blanket project, this is the one! It's an easy one row repeat and grows very quickly with this yarn and hook size. I hope you are enjoying your weekend and have a wonderful Easter if you acknowledge it! xo
I love that you include your cats in your tutorials! My black cat, Tazz, passed away over 4 years ago and I still miss him every day. I had a short-haired Maine Coon, named Monster, that reminds me of your other cat. I miss him too. Both were gentle giants.
Awe ❤️ I’m sure you do miss them. I’m so glad you are enjoying the cats in the video. I appreciate that because sometimes people don’t. But that’s ok, there are plenty of other videos on RUclips… and really it’s much easier to record now that I just keep filming 😆❤️
OMG... the tips at the end were just what I needed. I finished a blanket recently, and it was nowhere near straight. It killed me to undo it all. After wiping my tears, I decided to try again and found your video. I'm starting again now. Just wanted to say thanks.
Well, easy as this looks for a ‘newbie’ I am not able to do it. The basic chain gets so tight it causes the whole piece to curl and the top of my half double crochets go up and down like a roller-coaster. Just ugly. Apparently I will have to nothing but single crochets forever, at least I don’t mess up the tension on that. 😢
Beginner here. Picked up my first crochet hook 10 days ago. Watched your video, went out and grabbed 5 skeins of chenille yarn, and now I'm nearly finished with my first blanket. I'm delighted with my progress and my blanket looks fantastic. Thanks so much for this tutorial!
I’m a crochet beginner and I’ve been wanting to make blankets to give them as presents for my friends/family, so finding this video is amazing for me, especially when the yarn is the same one I love! I’m definitely going to try making this soon!
I'm not even a year into learning how to crochet but I have made soooo many blankets and a pillow case and 2 pocketbooks. I'm completely addicted!!! I have watched a lot a lot of videos to learn and I have to say that I have enjoyed your videos the best!!! Thank you for the tips a the end! Your a really good teacher ❤️
I'm a begintermediate crocheter and i have got to say - thank you for your tips!! I make most of my projects with this yarn and tried to use a bunch of different techniques to help with tension, but never realized the techniques I was using were meant for yarns with different properties. Thank you so much!!
Beautiful cats. Everything you do is inviting them to play. Wonderful. Very good tips. You make it look very easy using the size 12 hook. It takes a while to get use to that size. Another great video and beautiful blanket. 🌍☮️🌲
I really appreciated that you addressed the tension and how it can affect your project and how to tie the yarn together. Also suggesting how to keep things moving faster without tangling or knots was very beneficial !!
Oh...this is going to save my life. I've procrastinated making a blanket for my mom for Christmas and started to stress. Already have the yarn, just need a hook!
Thank you for this video! I’ve crocheted for years but have difficulty reading patterns. I wanted something “brainless” to do while watching TV as I have a hard time sitting still. After trying several other stitches and a couple of patterns, this one just clicked right in my brain. I increased the width to 88 stitches and added another skein as my husband wanted it bigger. I’m enjoying the project - thank you!
First time crocheting a big project with chunkier yarn and your tutorial was very easy to follow and I’m loving how it’s coming out! Will definitely come back to this channel for later projects :)
Just finished making a throw for a friend for Christmas with this stitching, started making a blanket for my grand baby. I am a long time beginner and this was so easy and fun to make. I did however use a smaller hook and found the blankets much thicker.
@@cammiekitzman2986 yes , even when you’ve been doing it for years like I have , tension can be an issue so that will just take some practice . But you might find working on a bigger project like this is easier to manage the tension . 💕 good luck!
Hello Roz and happy Easter to you and the boys . Thanks for today's lesson . I love working with chunky yarn making scarves and throws . They are quick to whip up . Have a good night.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love the way you did these stitches. I have this yarn. I've had it for 3 years and made 2 other attempts to try and crochet a blanket with it. Without success always fraud the back so I frog the back. I put it in plastic and put it away. Thank you. I think I'll give it another go.
I just finished my second blanket. I really enjoyed this pattern. Here are a few of my observations : I bought 4 skeins in Bernat Blanket plum chutney and 4 skeins in tidepool. For whatever reason the plum chutney blanket was well over 4x5 ft and the tidepool was under 4x5. I found this very odd as each skein said 220 yards. For the chain I gave in and bought a 15mm hook. I could not get the chain right. Either it was too loose and sloppy or too tight and made the blanket curve. I frogged the first blanket A LOT. Also, because the yarn was variegated and my frogged yarn got curly it was really hard for me to find each chain. I ended up marking every 10th chain and that helped a lot. I got in the habit of every so often counting the V stitches in a row to make sure I had 31. (I did 66 chains). Also when I would make the Vs I got in the habit of saying 1-2 for each hdc so that I didn't make Ws or Is by mistake.
Also I love the join technique. It is such a secure knot. One other thing I did - with the two tails - after weaving them in I used a small piece of thread in a similar color to tie the end to another strand in the blanket so that it would not pop up. Because the yarn is chenille the thread and knot just disappears in the fibers.
Beautiful blanket and stitch! I love your tutorials! You’re a great instructor ❤ Thank you for always sharing such beautiful stitches and blanket patterns 🥰❤️
Great tutorial. Really appreciate all the tips. Blanket is beautiful. I do have a size 6 yarn that I have been anxious to learn how to crochet & your video has helped. Thank you.
Hi, i started this pattern on Sunday as I have a lot of similar yarn that I want to use. It's a nice, easy pattern. You get a good rhythm going and you've done lots without noticing ❤

I always have this problem. No matter how loosely I do my first chain, all the above rows grow wider and curl, even tho I'm following the pattern correctly!
I think it’s just a tension issue - you might be working a little looser at times and not realizing it. We all do it. You could add a sc border around after you’re finished to help tighten it up if it’s really bothering you. You could also try omitting the chain in your v stitch occasionally but that might make it hard to see where to place your next stitch . Or try a smaller hook to bring it back in line .

First crochet project ever. I started another blanket with the same yarn twice and pulled it out as it seemed I was losing stitches as I progressed. Started this one and on the first row feel I am gaining LOL! I think using Bernat Baby Blanket with 3 colours is making the chains hard to see. Just pulled out some again. Anyway, I am excited to forge ahead.
Ah, I’m sorry it’s giving you some headaches. Stitch markers might help to keep tally of your stitch count. Will help save a lot of time. I use them a lot to reduce stress! 😆🧶💕 keep me posted 👍🏻
